• Finding the distance between 2 points in Android using Cursor and the distanceTo() method

  Hello, I am trying to calculate the distance between the first GPS point stored in a SQLite database and the last GPs point stored.   Hello, I am using sphinx as a search engine on my website its working perfect and I have no complain with it. The only thing it lacks is, it does not allow me to search articles whose query length is more than 15 words. I know in reality people don't use more than 3-4 words i want to use it for finding duplicate contents. I was wondering if there is any alternative solution to sphinx. I want to cope with duplicate contents. My main articles table is in innodb but I am also caching articles into MyISAM table as well for full text searching but when I search an article it takes ages to perform one search. Its not the query problem, i think mysql lacks the fulltext searching facility. Thanks Jason

• Using Raw SQL with Doctrine

  I have some extremely complex queries that I need to use to generate a report in my application. I'm using symfony as my framework and doctrine as my ORM. My question is this: What is the best way to pass in highly-complex sql queries directly to Doctrine without converting them to the Doctrine Query Language? I've been reading about the Raw_SQL extension but it appears that you still need to pass the query in sections (like from()). Is there anything for just dumping in a bunch of raw sql commands?

• Combine multiple dataset columns to one dataset

  I have multiple datasets that I would like to combine into one. There is a common ID field that can be associated to each row. Calling Merge on the dataset will add additional rows to the dataset, but I would like to combine the additional columns. There are too many fields to do this in one query and therefore would make it unmanageable. Each individual query would be able to handle ordering to ensure the data is placed in the correct row. For Example lets say I have two queries resulting in two datasets: SELECT ID, colA, colB SELECT colC, colD The resulting dataset would look like ID colA colB colC colD 1 a b c d 2 e f g h Any ideas on ways to accomplish this?

• Mouse not working after upgrade

  After upgrade from 12.4 to 13.4 my usb mouse does not respond. Unlike similar posts my keyboard works (Alt + Tab, num loc etc) which means I can enter password and still log into desktop but still with no mouse support. I have tried other usb and PS2 mice (Logitech and Microsoft mouse) that are working on other Systems with no success. When running "xsetpointer -1 | grep Pointer" in terminal window as per post USB Mouse not recognized it shows no mouse installed. When the mouse is plugged in the light under mouse illuminates so their is power to mouse. In KDE by using the keyboard I was able to turn on "Move pointer with keyboard (using num pad)" from the "Mouse - KDE Control Module" which allowed me to move the mouse pointer using the keyboard. Without complete reinstall how do I get mouse working again?

  Hello everyone. Asking for your help on this Oracle query. It's giving me the error 2 "ORA-00905: missing keyword". It was working fine before I added the LEFT JOIN statement. Obviously it won't deliver the information as we need it without the LEFT JOIN statement. • Implementing algorithms via compute shaders vs. pipeline shaders

  With the availability of compute shaders for both DirectX and OpenGL it's now possible to implement many algorithms without going through the rasterization pipeline and instead use general purpose computing on the GPU to solve the problem. For some algorithms this seems to become the intuitive canonical solution because they're inherently not rasterization based, and rasterization-based shaders seemed to be a workaround to harness GPU power (simple example: creating a noise texture. No quad needs to be rasterized here). Given an algorithm that can be implemented both ways, are there general (potential) performance benefits over using compute shaders vs. going the normal route? Are there drawbacks that we should watch out for (for example, is there some kind of unusual overhead to switching from/to compute shaders at runtime)? Are there perhaps other benefits or drawbacks to consider when choosing between the two?

  I am basically looking to bind a search query to a gridview which is nice, but this must be done by a users input query (sort of like a search function). I can get single values and rows returned, but how would I get it to search all columns in my database for the inputted values and return it? I want to fetch some records from database i.e. select * from tblDepartment where department_id in ( select department_id from tblMap where Guest_Id = @GuestId ) I have taken two DataTable. i.e. tblDepartment, tblMap Now I want to fetch this result and want to store it in third DataTable. How can I do this. • Ubuntu 12.04.1 completely freezing very often [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: What should I do when Ubuntu freezes? I am running ubuntu 12.04.1 on an asus zenbook prime (UX31A), and I am having a problem where the entire OS freezes at random times. It doesn't seem to happen in response to any certain event, it will even sometimes happen while just moving the mouse, not even clicking on anything. The entire system will freeze, mouse and keyboard do not work, and any music/video will freeze and audio will loop. I can do nothing but hold the power button to reboot the computer. I've had this problem for a while, and just yesterday gotten around to backing up everything and doing a fresh install. Lo and behold, I get a freeze within 20 minutes of a fresh install. I've googled this a lot, and cannot find anything that resembles it exactly (some people have everything but mouse/keyboard freeze, some people only have the mouse/keyboard freeze).

  Hi, I am working on a cache replication solution between nodes Node A - master node = Hibernate + Database + Ehcache as secondary cache Node B - regional node= Ehcache as prmiary cache. no Hibernate Node B is used only as near-by cache for query. Now I am updating data (Say SudentInfo) in Node A, it gets persisted and cached correctly. On replication side (I am using JMS) it sends a message to Node B. But the problem is, the message it sends is of instance CacheEntry(deep Inside Element), there is no way to resurrect the original object (StudentInfo). What I got in node B is CacheEntry with some attributes of Students but not actually an Student Object. Please note that I don't need Hibernate session/persistence in Node B, node B is only for fast query, persistence is done through Node A. So has anybody tried any solution like this? Is there any way to convert CacheEntry to actual object? or Tell ehcache to replicate original object rather than CacheEntry. Thanks for the help

• How do I use WMI with Delphi without drastically increasing the application's file size?

  I am using Delphi 2010, and when I created a console application that prints "Hello World", it takes 111 kb. If I want to query WMI with Delphi, I add WBEMScripting_TLB, ActiveX, and Variants units to my project. If I perform a simple WMI query, my executable size jumps to 810 kb. I Is there anyway to query WMI without such a large addition to the size of the file? Forgive my ignorance, but why do I not have this issue with C++? • Powershell STA watin

  Wow, two posts on the same day. I was working on a quick DLL project to do some web scripting using the awsome power of Watin.  In the past I use to create a vbscript as the test handler to call the DLL but lately I got a Powershell bug to call .NET DLLs. When I tried to debug the Watin call I received: The CurrentThread needs to have it's ApartmentState set to ApartmentState.STA to be able to automate Internet Explorer. I couldn't find a quick google answer to powershell apartmentstate .  Apparently you can set the powershell apartment state by the command line -STA.  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd315276.aspx I've found that the powershell documentation and examples is lacking compared to the Microsoft support I've come to expect.  Why is the Powershell v2.0 in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\windowspowershell\v1.0 ?

• Entity Framework 4 relationship management in POCO Templates - More lazy than FixupCollection?

  I've been taking a look at EF4 POCO templates in beta 2. The FixupCollection looks fine for maintaining the model correctness after updating the relationship collection property (i.e. product.Orders it would set the order.Product reference ). But what about support for handling the scenario when some of those Order objects are removed from the context? The use-case of maintaining cascading deletes in the in-memory model. The old Typed DataSet model used to do this by performing the query through the container to derive the relationship results. Like the DataSet, this would require a reference to the ObjectContext inside the entity class so that it could query the top-level Order collection. Better support for Separation of Concerns in the ObjectContext would be required. It looks like EF is not suited to this use-case that DataSets did out of the box.... am I right?

  I recently started on developing in PHP with the Yii Framework. I recently came across the Grails Framework and I'm pretty impressed by the sites they make, bigger companies seem to use Grails for their web development. When looking at yii, not many big companies are using it. I'm just starting out with the Yii framework and I don't want to turn back halfway when in the middle of learning Yii, so I hope someone can give me some comparison about the 2 in terms of power. Does Grails make things much easier and benefit me in the long run? I only have C++ background for now. It boils down to this. I want a powerful framework which will serve me for a very long time and by looking at the number of big companies using Grails, I feel discouraged to take the Yii path. Thank you! • Images missing after moving Django to new server

  I'm moving Django project to new server. I'm newbie in Django, and I don't know where should be upload folder. There are all images which should be displayed on website. In config file I haven't seen upload folder I could specify, so I'm guessing it always should be the same location for django projects or I just can't find it. Locations are saved in database. When I've put uploaded files into media folder, so url was like domain.co.uk/media/upload/media/images/year/month/day/image_name.ext and the same is on the old website, images on website ware still missing. All images are visible if I put url by hand, but django doesn't seems to see files. • Can I perform a distribution upgrade without rebooting?

  Hi, I would, ideally, like to run a distribution upgrade that doesn't end in a complete reboot of the machine (owing to an irritation in my hardware that requires a period of disconnection from the power supply before my SSD can be detected). What would be the procedure for doing this from a desktop environment? I would image: dist-upgrade shutdown all graphical services restart X I'd appreciate any advice (particularly on the exact procedure for step 2, if this correct). NB. But if I query for all properties related to Chad Sexton, I don't see 311 mentioned. For instance, lets say I have a Car model class and want to add one price attribute (database column) per currency, given a list of currencies. What is the best way to do this? I had an approach that I thought would work, but it didn't exactly.
