  • Generic linked list in c++

    - by itsaboy
    I have been struggling for too long a time now with a rather simple question about how to create a generic linked list in c++. The list should be able contain several types of structs, but each list will only contain one type of struct. The problem arises when I want to implement the getNode() function [see below], because then I have to specify which of the structs it should return. I have tried to substitute the structs with classes, where the getNode function returns a base class that is inherited by all the other classes, but it still does not do the trick, since the compiler does not allow the getNode function to return anything but the base class then. So here is some code snippet: typedef struct struct1 { int param1; (...) } struct1; typedef struct struct2 { double param1; (...) } struct2; typedef struct node { struct1 data; node* link; } node; class LinkedList { public: node *first; int nbrOfNodes; LinkedList(); void addNode(struct1); struct1 getNode(); bool isEmpty(); }; LinkedList::LinkedList() { first = NULL; nbrOfNodes = 0; } void LinkedList::addNode(struct1 newData) { if (nbrOfNodes == 0) { first = new node; first->data = newData; } else { node *it = first; for (int i = 0; i < nbrOfNodes; i++) { it = it->link; } node *newNode = new node; newNode->data = newData; it->link = newNode; } nbrOfNodes++; } bool LinkedList::isEmpty() { return !nbrOfNodes; } struct1 LinkedList::getNode() { param1 returnData = first->data; node* deleteNode = first; nbrOfNodes--; if (nbrOfNodes) first = deleteNode->link; delete deleteNode; return returnData; } So the question, put in one sentence, is as follows: How do I adjust the above linked list class so that it can also be used for struct2, without having to create a new almost identical list class for struct2 objects? As I said above, each instance of LinkedList will only deal with either struct1 or struct2. Grateful for hints or help

  • breakpoint inside QComboBox subclass not working

    - by yan bellavance
    I have subclassed QComboBox to customize it for special needs. The subclass is used to promote QComboBoxes in a ui file from QtDesigner. Everything works except that when I put a break point in a slot, the program does not stop at the breakpoint. I do however know that it is being called from the result it generates. I checked other slots in my program and they work fine with breakpoints. Doing a clean and rebuild all did not fix it. What could be causing this and is there anything I can do about it? The slot in question is the only one in the subclass and is called "do_indexChanged()". You can find the slot on line 37 of the class header below and the signal-slot connection on line 10 of the class source file. CLASS HEADER: #ifndef WVQCOMBOBOX_H #define WVQCOMBOBOX_H #include <QWidget> #include <QObject> #include <QComboBox> #include <QVariant> class wvQComboBox : public QComboBox { Q_OBJECT //Q_PROPERTY(bool writeEnable READ writeEnable WRITE setWriteEnable) public: explicit wvQComboBox(QWidget *parent = 0); bool writeEnable() { return this->property("writeEnable").toBool(); } void setWriteEnable(const bool & writeEnable){ this->setProperty("writeEnable",writeEnable); } bool newValReady() { return this->property("newValReady").toBool(); } void setNewValReady(const bool & newValReady){ this->setProperty("newValReady",newValReady); } QString getNewVal(); int getNewValIndex(); int oldVal; //comboBox Index before user edit began private slots: void do_indexChanged(){ this->setWriteEnable(true); if(oldVal!=currentIndex()){ this->setNewValReady(true); oldVal=currentIndex(); } } protected: void focusInEvent ( QFocusEvent * event ); //void focusOutEvent ( QFocusEvent * event );//dont need because of currentIndexChanged(int) }; #endif // WVQCOMBOBOX_H #include "wvqcombobox.h" wvQComboBox::wvQComboBox(QWidget *parent) : QComboBox(parent) { this->setWriteEnable(true); this->setNewValReady(false); oldVal=this->currentIndex(); connect(this,SIGNAL(currentIndexChanged(int)),this,SLOT(do_indexChanged())); } void wvQComboBox::focusInEvent ( QFocusEvent * event ) { this->setWriteEnable(false); oldVal=this->currentIndex(); } QString wvQComboBox::getNewVal(){ setNewValReady(false); return this->currentText(); } int wvQComboBox::getNewValIndex(){ setNewValReady(false); return this->currentIndex(); }

    Beginners question: Given two classes: Myclass5 and Myclass6 how can one wire up following factory method (returned as Func) such that myclass5 and myclass6 instances and IMyClass that they depend on are all retrieved via autofac (assuming that these three instances are registered). public static MyClass4 FactoryMethod(int nu) { if (nu == 1) return new MyClass5(....); if (nu == 4) return new MyClass6(....); throw new NotImplementedException(); } public abstract class MyClass4 { } public class MyClass5 : MyClass4 { public MyClass5(int nu, IMyClass a) { } } public class MyClass6 : MyClass4 { public MyClass6(int nu, IMyClass a) { } }

  • How to "uninstantiate" an object?

    - by Mark
    I wrote a function in Python: def instantiate(c): if inspect.isclass(c): return c() elif isinstance(c, object): return c else: raise Exception, '%s is not an object or class.' % c Now I want to do the opposite: get the class from an already instantiated object so that I can re-instantiate it with different parameters. How can I do that?

  • Performing non-blocking requests? - Django

    - by RadiantHex
    Hi folks, I have been playing with other frameworks, such as NodeJS, lately. I love the possibility to return a response, and still being able to do further operations. e.g. def view(request): do_something() return HttpResponse() do_more_stuff() #not possible!!! Maybe Django already offers a way to perform operations after returning a request, if that is the case that would be great. Help would be very much appreciated! =D

  • How to modify PropertyGrid at runtime (add/remove property and dynamic types/enums)

    - by salle55
    How do you modify a propertygrid at runtime in every way? I want to be able to add and remove properties and add "dynamic types", what I mean with that is a type that result in a runtime generated dropdown in the propertygrid using a TypeConverter. I have actually been able to do both those things (add/remove properties and add dynamic type) but only separately not at the same time. To implement the support to add and remove properties at runtime I used this codeproject article and modified the code a bit to support different types (not just strings). private System.Windows.Forms.PropertyGrid propertyGrid1; private CustomClass myProperties = new CustomClass(); public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); myProperties.Add(new CustomProperty("Name", "Sven", typeof(string), false, true)); myProperties.Add(new CustomProperty("MyBool", "True", typeof(bool), false, true)); myProperties.Add(new CustomProperty("CaptionPosition", "Top", typeof(CaptionPosition), false, true)); myProperties.Add(new CustomProperty("Custom", "", typeof(StatesList), false, true)); //<-- doesn't work } /// <summary> /// CustomClass (Which is binding to property grid) /// </summary> public class CustomClass: CollectionBase,ICustomTypeDescriptor { /// <summary> /// Add CustomProperty to Collectionbase List /// </summary> /// <param name="Value"></param> public void Add(CustomProperty Value) { base.List.Add(Value); } /// <summary> /// Remove item from List /// </summary> /// <param name="Name"></param> public void Remove(string Name) { foreach(CustomProperty prop in base.List) { if(prop.Name == Name) { base.List.Remove(prop); return; } } } etc... public enum CaptionPosition { Top, Left } My complete solution can be downloaded here. It works fine when I add strings, bools or enums, but when I try to add a "dynamic type" like StatesList it doesn't work. Does anyone know why and can help me to solve it? public class StatesList : System.ComponentModel.StringConverter { private string[] _States = { "Alabama", "Alaska", "Arizona", "Arkansas" }; public override System.ComponentModel.TypeConverter.StandardValuesCollection GetStandardValues(ITypeDescriptorContext context) { return new StandardValuesCollection(_States); } public override bool GetStandardValuesSupported(ITypeDescriptorContext context) { return true; } public override bool GetStandardValuesExclusive(ITypeDescriptorContext context) { return true; } } The method of using a TypeConverter works fine when you don't try to add the property at runtime, for example this code works without any problem, but I want to be able to do both. Please take a look at my project. Thanks!

  • gcc, strict-aliasing, and casting through a union

    - by Joseph Quinsey
    About a year ago the following paragraph was added to the GCC Manual, version 4.3.4, regarding -fstrict-aliasing: Similarly, access by taking the address, casting the resulting pointer and dereferencing the result has undefined behavior [emphasis added], even if the cast uses a union type, e.g.: union a_union { int i; double d; }; int f() { double d = 3.0; return ((union a_union *)&d)->i; } Does anyone have an example to illustrate this undefined behavior? Note this question is not about what the C99 standard says, or does not say. It is about the actual functioning of gcc, and other existing compilers, today. My simple, naive, attempt fails. For example: #include <stdio.h> union a_union { int i; double d; }; int f1(void) { union a_union t; t.d = 3333333.0; return t.i; // gcc manual: 'type-punning is allowed, provided ...' } int f2(void) { double d = 3333333.0; return ((union a_union *)&d)->i; // gcc manual: 'undefined behavior' } int main(void) { printf("%d\n", f1()); printf("%d\n", f2()); return 0; } works fine, giving on CYGWIN: -2147483648 -2147483648 Also note that taking addresses is obviously wrong (or right, if you are trying to illustrate undefined behavior). For example, just as we know this is wrong: extern void foo(int *, double *); union a_union t; t.d = 3.0; foo(&t.i, &t.d); // UD behavior so is this wrong: extern void foo(int *, double *); double d = 3.0; foo(&((union a_union *)&d)->i, &d); // UD behavior For background discussion about this, see for example: http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg14/www/docs/n1422.pdf http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2010-01/msg00013.html http://davmac.wordpress.com/2010/02/26/c99-revisited/ http://cellperformance.beyond3d.com/articles/2006/06/understanding-strict-aliasing.html http://stackoverflow.com/questions/98650/what-is-the-strict-aliasing-rule http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2771023/c99-strict-aliasing-rules-in-c-gcc/2771041#2771041 The first link, draft minutes of an ISO meeting seven months ago, notes in section 4.16: Is there anybody that thinks the rules are clear enough? I want to make a function or procedure that when passed two integers will insert a row into the table but make sure the largest integer always goes into ColumnA and the smaller one into ColumnB. • Public class: The best way to store and access NSMutableDictionary?

    - by meridimus
    I have a class to help me store persistent data across sessions. The problem is I want to store a running sample of the property list or "plist" file in an NSMutableArray throughout the instance of the Persistance class so I can read and edit the values and write them back when I need to. The problem is, as the methods are publicly defined I cannot seem to access the declared NSMutableDictionary without errors. The particular error I get on compilation is: warning: 'Persistence' may not respond to '+saveData' So it kind of renders my entire process unusable until I work out this problem. Here is my full persistence class (please note, it's unfinished so it's just to show this problem): Persistence.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #define kSaveFilename @"saveData.plist" @interface Persistence : NSObject { NSMutableDictionary *saveData; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableDictionary *saveData; + (NSString *)dataFilePath; + (NSDictionary *)getSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level; + (void)writeSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level withData:(NSDictionary *)saveData; + (NSString *)makeCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevelKey:(NSUInteger)level; @end Persistence.m #import "Persistence.h" @implementation Persistence @synthesize saveData; + (NSString *)dataFilePath { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; return [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kSaveFilename]; } + (NSDictionary *)getSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level { NSString *filePath = [self dataFilePath]; if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:filePath]) { NSLog(@"File found"); [[self saveData] setDictionary:[[NSDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:filePath]]; // This is where the warning "warning: 'Persistence' may not respond to '+saveData'" occurs NSString *campaignAndLevelKey = [self makeCampaign:campaign andLevelKey:level]; NSDictionary *campaignAndLevelData = [[self saveData] objectForKey:campaignAndLevelKey]; return campaignAndLevelData; } else { return nil; } } + (void)writeSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level withData:(NSDictionary *)saveData { NSString *campaignAndLevelKey = [self makeCampaign:campaign andLevelKey:level]; NSDictionary *saveDataWithKey = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:saveData, campaignAndLevelKey, nil]; //[campaignAndLevelKey release]; [saveDataWithKey writeToFile:[self dataFilePath] atomically:YES]; } + (NSString *)makeCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevelKey:(NSUInteger)level { return [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d - ", campaign+1] stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", level+1]]; } @end I call this class like any other, by including the header file in my desired location: @import "Persistence.h" Then I call the function itself like so: NSDictionary *tempSaveData = [[NSDictionary alloc] [Persistence getSaveWithCampaign:currentCampaign andLevel:currentLevel]];

Furthermore if i use the UUID read from getsockname to connect the Android application the connection fails with this exception: java.io.IOException: Service discovery failed Could you help me?? Thanks!

  • Python operators returning ints

    - by None
    Is there any way to have Python operators line "==" and "" return ints instead of bools. I know that I could use the int function (int(1 == 1)) or add 0 ((1 == 1) + 0) but I was wondering if there was an easy way to do it. Like when you want division to return floats you could type from __future__ import division. Is there any way to do this with operators returning ints? Or could I make a class extending __future__._Feature that would do what I want?
