• Pass data to Master Page with ASP.NET MVC

  I have a hybrid ASP.NET WebForms/MVC project. In my Master Page, I have a "menu" User Control and a "footer" User Control. Anyways. I need to pass some data (2 strings) to my "menu" User Control on my Master Page (to select the current tab in my menu navigation, etc.) My views are strongly-typed to my data model. How can I push data from my controller to my menu or at least allow my master page to access some data pre-defined in my controller? Note: I understand this violates pure ASP.NET MVC, but like I said, it is a hybrid project. The main purpose of my introduction to ASP.NET MVC into my project was to have more control over my UI for certain situations only.

• jQuery Thickbox and Google Maps Extinfowindow

  I am trying to place a link into an Extinfowindow that obtains its content through an Ajax call. So, I click on a push pin marker, up pops the Extinfowindow with my ThickBox link in it, and when I inspect the DOM for the entire page at that point, I can see the element correctly showing up with the "thickbox" class. The link looks like this <A class="thickbox" title="" href="http://localhost:1293/Popup.aspx? height=200&width=300&modal=true">Modal Popup</A> However, when I click on it, it does a full refresh and the target page loads in the browser, not in a popup. It seems that when the <A> for the Thickbox control is injected into the DOM after the initial load, jQuery is no longer able to do its magic and intercept the anchor link request. Does anybody have thoughts about how to do this better?

  Any idea how to implement 'page break' in epub reader? .epub is nothing but HTML pages, and epub reader renders those html pages. but i wonder how some epub readers like Adobe Digital Edition implemented page break. There,when we jump to any page, you will not find half displayed line(i.e only upper part of the letters visible and lower part will be in the next page) or half images where the other part in the next page. How to push the line to next page if i cannot display it completely in the current page?

• How to compress CSS/JS in VS2010 Web Deployment Build Template?

  Hi all, We've recently upgraded from VS2008 - VS2010 (and hence upgrading from Web Deployment Project to proper deployment project). Obviously what's new in VS2010 web deployments is the introduction of Workflow as the build process template. Previously, we used a MSBuild task in the WDP to execute the Yahoo YUI Javascript/CSS compression module to minify/compress javascript and css files. Has anyone managed to accomplish this task with Visual Studio 2010? I have seen the new "SquishIt" compressor created by Justin Etheridge, but its not ideal as it "squishes" on the fly (e.g on Application_Start - Global.ascx) - which means you still have to push out all the uncompressed files to your web server before squishing. In the Workflow designer - i can see a toolbox item called "MSBuild" - just dont know how to use it to accomplish what i want. Been searching high and wide, no-one seems to know how. Surely someone out there has done this.

• DVCS and data loss?

  After almost two years of using DVCS, it seems that one inherent "flaw" is accidental data loss: I have lost code which isn't pushed, and I know other people who have as well. I can see a few reasons for this: off-site data duplication (ie, "commits have to go to a remote host") is not built in, the repository lives in the same directory as the code and the notion of "hack 'till you've got something to release" is prevalent... But that's beside the point. I'm curious to know: have you experienced DVCS-related data loss? Or have you been using DVCS without trouble? And, related, apart from "remember to push often", is there anything which can be done to minimize the risk?

  Hi everyone, I'm currently re-engaging with Python after a long absence and loving it. However, I find myself coming across a pattern over and over. I keep thinking that there must be a better way to express what I want and that I'm probably doing it the wrong way. The code that I'm writing is in the following form: # foo is a dictionary if foo.has_key(bar): foo[bar] += 1 else: foo[bar] = 1 I'm writing this a lot in my programs. My first reaction is to push it out to a helper function, but so often the python libraries supply things like this already. Is there some simple little syntax trick that I'm missing? Or is this the way that it should be done?

• Application with two UITabBarControls

  Hello, I want to create an app, whith the following structure: UITabBarController ..UINavigationController ....UITabBarController So, in other words, I want to load first UITabbarController as my main ViewController, that appears on application start, in its' first tab there's a UINavigationController with a table, which shows another UITabBarController by pressing on a table cell. I started Tab Based application, set first tab to UINavigationController, and its ViewController to my TableViewController. I also created second UITabBarController in Interface Builder. Created a separate class for this controller. Everything works fine at start - my first UITabBarController is shown perfectly, but when I'm trying to push my second UITabBarController, using my UINavigationController, it looks like nothing is loaded from a .xib file - there are just an empty TabBar and NavigationBar pushed. Seems, that something is wrong with an architecture, but I can't figure out the problem. Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for my poor English. Please let me know if something is not clear, I'll try to rephrase it :).

• Restore VisualSVN server from client copy.

  I am running VisualSVN on a windows VM box. The VM crashed and corrupted the image. After restoring an older image (2007) we discovered that our data backup is not functioning properly. Hence I have a bunch of projects (~20) siting on my laptop (client side) and I want to push them back into the VisualSVN Server, which is now empty. I know this can be done by simply adding the project files manually, but this is going to take along time because I don't want to include every file (i.e. complied files). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• Git fails when pushing commit to github

  I cloned a git repo that I have hosted on github to my laptop. I was able to successfully push a couple of commits to github without problem. However, now I get the following error: Compressing objects: 100% (792/792), done. error: RPC failed; result=22, HTTP code = 411 Writing objects: 100% (1148/1148), 18.79 MiB | 13.81 MiB/s, done. Total 1148 (delta 356), reused 944 (delta 214) From here it just hangs and I finally have to ^C back to the terminal.

• WebBrowser control not submitting form, IE 7 works

  We are using a WebBrowser control in our win forms application which is running in terminal services. IE 7 is the browser that is installed for the session. We are using WebForms to generate the web pages. If we try and submit a web page in the WebBrowser control it does not work. The submit button does not push down. If we try and submit a web page in IE 7 that is installed on the same machine it works as expected. This is only an issue for one person. The WebBrowser control is working for other users. Any thoughts on how I can debug why the submit button is not submitting for the WebBrowser control? Thanks in advance.

They do not feel sense of accomplishment in the project. I am pressured and frustrated, too. But as a team leader, I think I need to push them. But I do not know how to do. Do I help them solve coding problem or just encouragement? But if I pay too much attention on it, it would slow down my own progress. • Instance validation error: '2' is not a valid value for QueryType. (web service)

  I have a web service that I am passing an enum public enum QueryType { Inquiry = 1 Maintainence = 2 } When I pass an object that has a Parameter of QueryType on it, I get the error back from the web service saying that '2' is not a valid value for QueryType, when you can clearly see from the declaration of the enum that it is. I cannot change the values of the enum because legacy applications use the values, but I would rather not have to insert a "default" value just to push the index of the enum to make it work with my web service. It acts like the web service is using the index of the values rather than the values themselves. Does anybody have a suggestion of what I can do to make it work, is there something I can change in my WSDL?

  Hi There, I'm working with the Address Book UI API on iPhone SDK 3.0. I want to present to the user the ability to create a new user, or add to an existing one, so I am using the ABUnknownPersonViewController. I have an existing navigation stack (with only 2 other views on it). Trouble is when I push the ABUnknownPersonViewController onto it, it shows up animated, etc. But there is no navigation bar, so no way to cancel. My code snippet is as follows newPersonViewController = [[ABUnknownPersonViewController alloc] init]; newPersonViewController.unknownPersonViewDelegate = self; newPersonViewController.displayedPerson = person; newPersonViewController.allowsAddingToAddressBook = YES; newPersonViewController.allowsActions = NO; [[self navigationController] pushViewController:newPersonViewController animated:YES]; Note: the current view controller does have a title, so that's not the issue.   Hi, I'm trying to add a pre-filled 'add reply' form to a view of nodes. Reply is a content-type (reply) with certain fields that need to be prefilled based on what is in the view. This way a user can see only the selected fields from the node/add/reply. At the moment I'm building the forms manually - copy the form from node/add, do some modifications using php & views customfield, but I would like to be able to just push default values to some fields and hide some others and then make drupal render it with all the javascript glory like date select etc. Can this be done?

  Wondering if its possible to create a short simple and sweet cross-browser jQuery (1.6) function that would split #textarea1 content into two by preserving the characters that amount to less than its var maxlength limit and transfering the remaining characters that exceed its maxlength limit in #textarea2. #textarea1 can push excedant in #textarea2, but if #textarea1 contains less than the maxlength limit, by default it wont get filled up with #textarea2 content, but you would have the option programatically to override this. I am just beginning to scratch the surface of jQuery but I noticed that this simple javascript can nearly do the trick, minus the free-flowing character movement. Scratching my head on this one. I have a code running properly using a navigationController but in this case I am using a navigationItem on a view. How could I trigger a view?   Hi, I've been pulling my hair out trying to get some matrix calculations working properly and started to wonder. If I have the following: glPushMatrix(); float m[16]; glGetFloatv(GL_MODELVIEW_MATRIX, m); glPopMatrix(); What should I expect the values of m to equal? Currently I'm getting these values and I'm confused as to where they're coming from: -1, 0, 0, 0, 0, -0.6139, 0.7893522, 0, 0, 0.789352238, 0.61394, 0, 0, 0.0955992, -1.344529, 1, I'm assuming there is something which affects this, but I'm not sure what. Could anyone help? I've tried changing pretty much anything but everytime I push the matrix stack I always get this matrix straight away! I don't think this makes a difference but I'm using OpenGLES. • SSRS: Master-detail report with two datasources

  I have two local data sources that I can push into the report. Works no problem. But how do I set up the report? One data source contains a list of employees, and info about them. The other contains a bunch of working hours for each employee. I would like to use a table for the list of employees, and then have another table for the working hours beneath each employee (with their working hours). Is this even possible? Do I have to use a Sub-Report? Would I have to merge them into one datasource? =/

  Hello guys, I started with bitbucket and tried to use the wiki for my documentation. Therefore, i created a folder "documentation" unter the folder "wiki" (same level as home.wiki) and added some .wiki files. Now i'm trying to display all these contents of Documentation/ as table of contents. Therefore, i added the line: <<toc Documentation/ 2 >> After commit and push my home.wiki page really shows a TOC, but it contains only the first file stored in the folder Documentation/. I want them all to be listed. What is my mistake? Best regards Philipp
