• Communicating with a driver over a network in Windows

  How could I communicate with a driver from a usermode application over a network? I can't have the driver communicate with a local usermode application which then communicates with the remote application because that wouldn't work for what I'm doing. I was thinking of using named pipes but I'm not sure if that would work over a network.

  Hello. I need some clarification. I know that in order to run a java EE project, one needs a java EE compliant application server, such as tomcat, jboss, glashfish, etc. But, i download these to my desktop, but how about when i run it online? Are Jboss, tomcat, glashfish, etc. application servers just for your desktop, or are these the app server internet service providers have as well. I am trying to use godaddy as my internet service provider; i called them, but the customer service guy didnt know what application server they had, or did i ask the wrong question? Or how can i know waht application server they have? Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated.

  I am setting up a standard LEMP stack. My current setup is giving me the following error: 502 Bad Gateway This is what is currently installed on my server: Here's the configurations I've created/updated so far, can some one take a look at the following and see where the error might be?   Hi All, Does any one know, or is it possible to do one time payment, with paypal in android ? Consider the senario. Buyer purchases installs free application. Clicks on paypal module and makes in-app payment, purchases feature successfully. Buyer deletes application. All information including the feature purchase enty in database is deleted. Buyer reinstalls the application. Here is the catch, if he wants to use the feature he will have to do a re-purchase. Which I wann to avoid in my application. This is taken care in iPhoen in-app purchase. That is if a buyer has already purchased an feture or in-app item, and if he trys to repurchase it (item has been set to one time payment) , the in-app purchase transaction will succeed without the user actually having to repay for the item. Is there an solution for this can anyone help.

• Blackberry (Java) - Can't get KeyListener to work

  I am trying to get the KeyListener working for Blackberry, but none of the Dialogs pop up indicating that a key has been pressed (see code below, each action has a dialog popup in them). • NHibernate very slow during debugging

  Have anyone stumbled upon a problem where NHibernate is extremely slow in Visual Studio while debugging, but behaves normally when run separately? Logging is disabled and the time lost seems to be when the actual queries are executed, NHProfiler shows that queries were executed very quickly (on SQL side I presume), but each session with 10 queries takes about 4 seconds. I am using SQL Express Server. As I said, even if I turn on full logging and run my application without Visual Studio it is a magnitude faster. Update. After hours and hours of work towards the issue I was able to fix it by simply switching project type from Windows Application to Console Application (although in reality it's a Windows Service, but it always worked before with Windows Application project type). What could possibly be the difference to bring NHibernate to a halt in debugging mode?

  Im building an iphone radio application and I want to have the controls, play, pause, stop, etc. in a tool bar (a custom view controller) at the bottom of the application. I want to keep this there throughout all the views so you can control the audio while navigating through the other parts of the application (multiple view/table controllers).   Hi, If I apply a style from the SL 3.0 Toolkit to my application the built in SL 3.0 data validation errors are not displayed on the application edit forms. If I removed the code that applies the toolkit style to the application the SL 3.0 data validation errors appear as per normal SL 3.0 behaviour? Has anyone else come across this problem????? • Accessing localhost via IIS 6.1 on Windows 7 very slow

  (I've checked here already for similiar questions, and haven't found one that's exactly the same - hence I'm posting a new question) I'm currently running an ASP.NET application on IIS 7.0 on Windows 7. When I access this application on Internet Explorer (either 6, 7 or 8) it is incredible slow and often fails to load at all. There are messages at the bottom saying: Waiting for http://localhost/....... or sometimes waiting for about:blank (I've read that this can be a virus, but I've run all the usual checks and it's not). constantly, but it returns with the usual: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" I've also tried this by using 127.0.0.1 and the machine name, with the same results. I've tried the same application on the latest Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera and they all work fine. I've also installed the same application on a Windows Server 2003 machine, and it all works fine via Internet Explorer. Soes anyone have any ideas why this doesn't work with Internet Explorer and yet does with other browsers?

  Hi all I have an ASP.NET web application that runs on a windows server 2003 server. there is a form that reads and writes data to an xml file inside the application's directory. I always grant the NETWORK SERVICE user full control on my application folder so that it can read and write to the xml file. I put the application on another windows server 2003 server and did the same steps above but i was getting an Access denied exception on the form that reads and writes to the xml. I did some search and found that if you grant the user ASPNET full control to the directory it would work, I did that and it worked fine. my question is: what is the difference between granting full control permissions to NETWORK SERVICE and ASPNET users ? and what can be the difference between the two servers that caused this issue ? thanks

• ASP.NET: Why can't I call a web-service twice in one page?

  Hi all! I built a web-application which calls a web-service twice in the application's log-in page - first, on Page_Load, and the second time is after a button click. When debugging, everything goes well, but after publishing the web-application and trying it - I cannot make the two calls for the web-service (each call is invoking a different function in the same web-service). If I call it once (say, in the Page_Load) its OK, but once I get to the button click event, the page just seems to be loading but actually doing nothing (loading to infinity). When I disabled the web-service call in Page_Load, the web-service call after the button click worked well, and if I switched between them (disabled the call in button click and enabled the call in Page_Load) the enabled one worked OK. How come this is happening? What did I do wrong? Could it be related to the fact that the location where I published my web-application has some URL-rewriting rules?

  I trying to make automatic variables available to Excel VBA (like ActiveSheet or ActiveCell) also available to PowerShell as 'automatic variables'. PowerShell engine is hosted in an Excel VSTO add-in and Excel.Application is available to it as Globals.ThisAddin.Application. I found this thread here on StackOverflow and started created PSVariable derived classes like: public class ActiveCell : PSVariable { public ActiveCell(string name) : base(name) { } public override object Value { get { return Globals.ThisAddIn.Application.ActiveCell; } } } public class ActiveSheet : PSVariable { public ActiveSheet(string name) : base(name) { } public override object Value { get { return Globals.ThisAddIn.Application.ActiveSheet; } } } and adding their instances to the current POwerShell session: runspace.SessionStateProxy.PSVariable.Set(new ActiveCell("ActiveCell")); runspace.SessionStateProxy.PSVariable.Set(new ActiveSheet("ActiveSheet")); This works and I am able to use those variables from PowerShell as $ActiveCell and $ActiveSheet (their value change as Excel active sheet or cell change). Then I read PSVariable documentation here and saw this: "There is no established scenario for deriving from this class. To programmatically create a shell variable, create an instance of this class and set it by using the PSVariableIntrinsics class." As I was deriving from PSVariable, I tried to use what was suggested: PSVariable activeCell = new PSVariable("ActiveCell"); activeCell.Value = Globals.ThisAddIn.Application.ActiveCell; runspace.SessionStateProxy.PSVariable.Set(activeCell); Using this, $ActiveCell appears in my PowerShell session, but its value doesn't change as I change the active cell in Excel. Is the above comment from PSVariable documentation something I should worry about, or I can continue creating PSVariable derived classes? Is there another way of making Excel globals available to PowerShell?

Some brief pro and cons: Since Eclipse is use, tracking and finding unused localizations are easier when they are saved as variables, compared to having them in a file. • Changing default image viewer in registry

  I want my application to change the program which should be launched if ie. a .jpg (in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT) is launched. The *.jpg and *.jpeg items in the registry references the jpegfile-class, but when I change the value of the default application to open the file, the old default is still launched, but not my program. (I set the value in jpegfile/shell/open/command/ to the path of my application.) In firefox, the right-click menu etc the choice of default viewer will show that my application should be launched, but it isn't.

  Hopefully this is a straightforward question, but googling has proved fruitless (and frustrating, to say the least). Links to good documentation would be greatly appreciated. Here's the problem. We have a web application with an associated ActiveX control. (The control wraps a crufty old MFC application if it matters.) Moving forward, we expect to release multiple versions of this application, and each will have a corresponding version of the control. If someone accesses two versions of the web application, then that user should end up with two different versions of the control on his system. (The controls should play nice and not clobber each other.) In addition, I want to automate this process. Our system has a global version number that applies to all components. If we change the version number, the next build should produce a new version of the control. What's the best way to do this?

  Hi to all, I am new to this forum. Actually I have an issue here regarding my application which is hibernate+struts based application. Recently we have decided to integrate GWT into our application. We are using gwt 1.5.3 build. We have set up everything exactly as we find in documentation and various blogs. Yeah I am now in a very nervy state as gwt in its web- mode is treating me in a very embarassing manner. But it is compiling and working perfectly fine in its hosted-mode and everything works fine as we expected and designed. When I try to integrate GWT with our application i.e. running in tomcat (http://localhost:8080/myapps/example.do? reqCode=takeMeToGWT&userId=12&templateId=10). The gwt page is loaded partially and in the midst it throws an exception i.e. StatusCodeException. This doesn't happen when I run the gwt application in hosted-mode ( http://localhost:8888/com.myapp.gwt.MyApp/Home.html ) . I am using Intellij Idea 8, struts 1.3 ,hibernate 3 and tomcat 5.5 .
