  • jquery input-validation (number characters and decimal places).

    - by Cesar Lopez
I have several javascript functions to validate the input data in textbox, so it will limit the user to type into the textbox a range of numbers (eg. from 0 to 500) an x amount of decimals (eg. 1 or 2 or 3 ....). I am having some issues with the javascript functions because they are three separate functions and the alerts get a bit mixed up. I was wondering if there is a jquery function that will make it neat, effective and simple. Thanks.

  • Conditional Validation with Paperclip difficult

    - by Michael Schmitz
Hi, I have an "item", which goes through a multi-page creation process. Images are uploaded at step five, and I keep track of the steps by using the attribute "complete". When validating whether an image is attached with paperclip, I get problems using the code below: validates_attachment_presence :pic1, :if => Proc.new { |u| u.complete == "step5"} It seems that I can't access the "complete" attribute, as the active-record object seems to be the paperclip image. Is there a way for me to check at which point in the process I am and validate conditionally? Thanks, Michael

  • Using IDataErrorInfo and setting Validation.HasError style

    - by Gaurav
In WPF using IDataErrorInfo and Style I want to create form where I can provide end user three different status while validating data To make the scenario more clear 1) I have textbox next to it I have icon which provides end user what kind of input textbox expects - Initial status with information icon 2) As soon as user enter data it validates it and decides whether it is valid or not - most of the time it will show cross (X) icon saying invalid data 3) As it is validating on UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged" it will turn cross icon to green check mark as soon as it gets validated i.e [ ] i (tooltip- Any valid user name ) [Ga ] X (tooltip- Invalid user name. Must be 5 char long) [Gaurav ] * (it will show only correct icon, meaning valid value) How can I achieve this using IDataErrorInfo and Style, I tried doing that but as soon as my form gets loaded it invalidates all the data and shows cross icon at the first time. I want to show different tooltip and different icon for three states (Initial info, Invalid data, Valid data)

  • jQuery Validation errorPlacement

    - by Steve
    This works: $("[id$='_zzz']").rules( "add", { required: true, minlength: 8, messages: { required: "...", minlength: jQuery.format("...") } } ); The error message comes up. When I try to style the message, this doesn't work: $("[id$='_zzz']").rules( "add", { required: true, minlength: 8, messages: { required: "...", minlength: jQuery.format("...") }, errorElement: "span", errorPlacement: function(error, element) { error.insertAfter(element); error.css("margin", "0 0 0 5px"); } } ); When I style via the validate function, the styling is applied so it works: $('#aspnetForm').validate({ errorElement: "span", errorPlacement: function(error, element) { error.insertAfter(element); error.css("margin", "0 0 0 5px"); } }); Why can't I style using errorplacement in the rules add function?

  • Add php extension (geoip.so) to Zend Studio for code validation

    - by Agustinus
Hi everyone, just have a short question here. I've just installed new php extension (geoip.so) using pecl to /usr/local/zend/lib/php_extensions/ and added the extension to the php.ini. Run the code and it works just fine. But Zend Studio is giving warning of undefined geoip function. Try to add the directory path above to the include path of Zend Studio, still the warning exists. Any clue how to remove this warning? Thank you in advance!! /Agustinus

  • PHP Form Validation Regular Expression, no symbols or numbers

    - by MrEnder
Ok I am trying to get the users First Name the form gets their name perfectly fine and posts it into a variable. Now I am trying to do error checking else if(!preg_match("/^[\w-]+$/", $firstNameSignup)) { $firstNameSignupError = "Your first name cannot contain numbers or symbols, you entered " . $firstNameSignup; $firstNameSignup = ""; } I tried the above code and it does not like me but my if statement if(!isset($firstNameSignup) || $firstNameSignup == "") { $firstNameSignupError = "You must enter your first name"; } works fine so I know that the error is in that else if statement... most likely in my regular expression any help??? I'm totally at a loss (really new to PHP and regular expressions) Thanks Shelby

  • jQuery programmatically removing validation highlighting

    - by Sam Carleton
The form has two check boxes (cbDeclined & cbIsOOfFac), two text fields and a drop down (txtHeight, txtWeight, ddlDevice). If either check box is checked, then the other controls are disabled and the rules for the other do no apply. Here are the current rules: $('form').validate({ highlight: function (element, errorClass) { $(element).addClass("invalidElem"); }, unhighlight: function (element, errorClass) { $(element).removeClass("invalidElem"); }, errorPlacement: function (error, element) { var parent = element.parent(); parent.append(error); }, errorElement: "div", errorClass: "errorMsg" }); function HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled() { return !cbDeclined.is(':checked') && !cbIsOOfFac.is(':checked'); } txtHeight.rules("add", { required: function (element) { return HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled(); }, maxlength: 3, min: 1, digits: true }); txtWeight.rules("add", { required: function (element) { return HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled(); }, maxlength: 4, min: 1, digits: true }); ddlDevice.rules("add", { required: function (element) { return HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled(); } }); function UpdateTextBoxes() { var disableCtrls = !HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled(); txtHeight.prop('disabled', disableCtrls); txtWeight.prop('disabled', disableCtrls); ddlDevice.prop('disabled', disableCtrls); if (disableCtrls) { txtHeight.val(''); txtWeight.val(''); ddlDevice.val(''); } } cbDeclined.click(function () { if (cbDeclined.is(':checked')) cbIsOOfFac.attr('checked', false); UpdateTextBoxes(); }); cbIsOOfFac.click(function () { if (cbIsOOfFac.is(':checked')) cbDeclined.attr('checked', false); UpdateTextBoxes(); }); The problem comes in when: The user enters something into txtWeight, clicks the submit to get both ddlDevice & txtHeight to highlight because they are required, then... The user clicks on either cbDeclined & cbIsOOfFac. The highlight is NOT going away. I am trying to figure out how to get the highlighting around the height and drop down to go away. I tried to create a fully working jsFiddler, but I cannot get anything to work, though everything looks correct. here is the link (I cannot post links, so I expanded it a bit) jsfiddle dot net/scarleton/9hDZQ/12/ If you remove the last /12/, you will see my first version that is a cut/paste from the real thing. Per a suggestion I tried adding $('form').valid(); a number of places. When I added it to the end of the UpdateTextBoxes() function, they started out highlighted, not what I want. When I added it after the click() event of either of the radio button, the text would go away, but the actual controls stayed highlighted. It looks like the function on the required property of the rule is not fully working, maybe. What is really interesting is this: When I enter a height, click , then weight and device are highlighted and have the error message under them. When I click on one of the radio buttons, the text goes away, but the highlight does not. But... The height is NOT highlighted, it stays normal.

  • php regex for strong password validation

    - by Jason
Hello, I've seen around the web the following regex (?=^.{8,}$)((?=.*\d)|(?=.*\W+))(?![.\n])(?=.*[A-Z])(?=.*[a-z]).*$ which validates only if the string: * contain at least (1) upper case letter * contain at least (1) lower case letter * contain at least (1) number or special character * contain at least (8) characters in length I'd like to know how to convert this regex so that it checks the string to * contain at least (2) upper case letter * contain at least (2) lower case letter * contain at least (2) digits * contain at least (2) special character * contain at least (8) characters in length well if it contains at least 2 upper, lower, digits and special chars then I wouldn't need the 8 characters length. special characters include: `~!@#$%^&*()_-+=[]\|{};:'".,/<? thanks in advance.

  • validation in javascript - remove the error msg on focus

    - by fusion
    i'm not very well-versed with javascript, so please bear with me. i've a form in which i validate the controls with javascript. the error is displayed when the fields are empty via a div, but when i focus and type something in the textbox, the div should go away. but the error div doesn't and even if i type something valid, it still displays the div. i'd like to know where am i going wrong with this script: <script type="text/javascript"> var err = document.getElementById("errmsg"); function checkInput(inPut) { if (inPut.getValue() == "") { err.setStyle('display', 'block'); err.setTextValue("Field cannot be empty!"); inPut.focus(); return false; } else { return true; } } function checkTextBox(textBox) { if (textBox.getValue() == "") { err.setStyle('display', 'block'); err.setTextValue("Field cannot be empty!"); textBox.focus(); return false; } else if (!checkValidity(textBox.getValue())) { err.setStyle('display', 'block'); err.setTextValue("Please enter a valid email address!"); textBox.focus(); return false; } else { return true; } } . . . <div id="errmsg" class="invalid" style="display:none;"></div> <br /> . . . <input type="text" tabindex="1" name="name" id="name" class="input_contact" onblur="checkInput(this);"/> <br /> . . . <input type="text" tabindex="2" name="email" id="email" class="input_contact" onblur="checkTextBox(this);"/> <br /> it's a form in facebook app but while the fbjs works, i assume there's a problem with my basic javascript.

  • jQuery - Iframe validation - cannot get values

    - by Henry
See demo: http://tinyurl.com/3xow97t The editor is under development. Now we check if it has an value - this works well with all form fields that have the class .required... but it does not work with the iframe. the iframe has a div with id #content. $('form .meet').focus(function() { $('iframe').each(function() { ** if($(this).contents().find('#content').val() == '') { ** $(this).addClass('warning'); } }) }); That means it should add the class .warning if the iframe is empty. But it always does, so what am i doing wrong? Does it not work, because the JS does not see the text i currently typed in? ^^ Regards Henry

  • Validation of user input or ?????????

    - by zaf
We're letting users search a database from a single text input and I'm having difficulties in filtering some user supplied strings. For example, if the user submits: ????????? lcd SONY (Note the ?'s) I need to cancel the search. I include the base64 encoded version of the above string wrapped up so that its easy run: print(base64_decode("1MfLxc/RwdPHIGxjZCBTT05Z")); I've ignored such inputs before but now (am not sure why) just realised the mysql database query is taking nearly forever to execute so this is now on high priority. Another example to highlight that we are using utf-8 and mb_detect_encoding is not helping much: print(base64_decode("zqDOm8+Fzr3PhM63z4HOuc6/IM+Bzr/Phc+HzyU=")); ????t???? ?????% So: how can I detect/filter these inputs? how is this input being generated?

  • XML Validation in ASP.NET MVC during load

    - by Jamie Nordmeyer
I'm writing an ASP.NET MVC 2 application where one of the backing stores I plan to support is XML. I have a POCO that represents the settings for the site, along with an XML file to contain these settings. My question is what is the best way to validate this data as it is read from disk in to the POCO? I know I can use an XSD, or maybe use the Data Annotations library to mark up the POCO, and use reflection to validate the data, but is there another way, perhaps in .NET 3.5 or MVC to do this? I've spent some time Googling this issue, and want to be sure I'm doing it in the best manner. Thanks in advance!

  • File input validation

    - by Emanuil
You have a web page with a form that has an input field of type file. You have another web page that expects the data from the first page. In the second page you need to check whether a file has been sent. How do you do that? I've been using the following statement but I'm not sure about it: $_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"] == ""

  • Custom Validation on jquery validate plugin, need to count element in a multiple select

    - by 0plus1
I have a multiple select, and I need to force the user to choose maximum two options, nothing more. I'm trying this: jQuery.validator.addMethod("morethantwo", function(value, element) { var foo = []; $(element+' :selected').each(function(i, selected){ foo[i] = $(selected).text(); alert(foo[i]); }); return true; },"Max two options." ); The problem is that I get a: uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [object HTMLSelectElement] error. While if I do this: $(element).each(function(i, selected){ foo[i] = $(selected).text(); alert(foo[i]); }); It works but I get all the options in the select. Why is that? Is this the correct road to walk? Are there better ways to do this kind of check? Thank you very much!

  • w3c validation error with utf-8

    - by ian
When I try to validate a certain page I get the below error: Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 136 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication. The error was: utf8 "\xFF" does not map to Unicode What exactly does this mean and how can I find out what character is causing the problem? The page is generated dynamically in PHP and a bit large and I am not sure what to look for.

  • Form Validation - IF field is blank THEN automatically selection option

    - by shovelshed
    Hi I need help to automatically select an option to submit with a form: When the 'form-email' field is blank i want it to select 'option 1' and, When the field is not blank i want it to select 'option 2'. Here's my form code <form method="post" onsubmit="return validate-category(this)" action="tdomf-form-post.php" id='tdomf_form1' name='tdomf_form1' class='tdomf_form'> <textarea title="Post Title" name="content-title-tf" id="form-content" >Say it...</textarea> <input type="text" value="" name="content-text-ta" id="form-email"/> <select name='categories' class='form-category' type="hidden"> <option value="3" type="hidden">Anonymous</option> <option value="4" type="hidden" selected="selected">Competition</option> </select> <input type="submit" value="Say it!" name="tdomf_form1_send" id="form-submit"/> </form> I have an idea that the javascript would go something like this, but can't find what the code is to change the value. <script type="text/javascript"> function validate-category(field) { with (field) { if (value==null||value=="") { select category 1 } else { select category 2 return true; } } } </script> Any help on this would be great. Thanks in advance.

  • Jquery DateJs, is there validation for full date?

    - by Cesar Lopez
Hi all, I just find out about the power of date js, And its great!!! As I am a newbie I was wondering if there is any kind of general validitation for different types of full dates. eg. var d1 = Date.parse('2000-10-18, 10:06 AM'); alert(d1.toString('HH:mm')); If date is ('200-10-18, 10:06 AM'), of course it doesn't like it. So my question is if there is any quick way to validate the full date, rather than having to validate one by one. Thanks.
