• Testing a scoped find in a Rails controller with RSpec

  I've got a controller called SolutionsController whose index action is different depending on the value of params[:user_id]. If its nil, then it simply displays all of the solutions on my site, but if its not nil, then it displays all of the solutions for the given user id. Here it is: def index if(params[:user_id]) @solutions = @user.solutions.find(:all) else @solutions = Solution.find(:all) end end and @user is determined like this: private def load_user if(params[:user_id ]) @user = User.find(params[:user_id]) end end I've got an Rspec test to test the index action if the user is nil: describe "GET index" do context "when user_id is nil" do it "should find all of the solutions" do Solution.should_receive(:find).with(:all).and_return(@solutions) get :index end end end however, can someone tell me how I write a similar test for the other half of my controller, when the user id isn't nil? • C# TCP Async EndReceive() throws InvalidOperationException ONLY on Windows XP 32-bit

  I have a simple C# Async Client using a .NET socket that waits for timed messages from a local Java server used for automating commands. The messages come in asynchronously and is written to a ring buffer. This implementation seems to work fine on Windows Vista/7/8 and OSX, but will randomly throw this exception while it's receiving a message from the local Java server: Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: EndReceive can only be called once for each asynchronous operation.     at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndReceive(IAsyncResult asyncResult, SocketError& errorCode)     at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndReceive(IAsyncResult asyncResult)     at SocketTest.Controller.RecvAsyncCallback(IAsyncResult ar)     at System.Net.LazyAsyncResult.Complete(IntPtr userToken)     ... I've looked online for this error, but have found nothing really helpful. The message itself can be any length for this to happen, and the exception can happen right away, or sometimes even up to a minute of perfect communication. I'm pretty new with sockets and network communication, and I feel I might be missing something here. I've tested on at least 8 different computers, and the only similarity with the computers that throw this exception is that their OS is Windows XP 32-bit.

  I'm trying to get the list of issues on a private repository using bitbucket's API. I have confirmed that HTTP Basic authentication works with hurl, but I am unable to authenticate in Python. • Does GC guarantee that cleared References are enqueued to ReferenceQueue in topological order?

  Say there are two objects, A and B, and there is a pointer A.x --> B, and we create, say, WeakReferences to both A and B, with an associated ReferenceQueue. Assume that both A and B become unreachable. Intuitively B cannot be considered unreachable before A is. In such a case, do we somehow get a guarantee that the respective references will be enqueued in the intuitive (topological when there are no cycles) order in the ReferenceQueue? I.e. ref(A) before ref(B). I don't know - what if the GC marked a bunch of objects as unreachable, and then enqueued them in no particular order? I was reviewing Finalizer.java of guava, seeing this snippet: private void cleanUp(Reference<?> reference) throws ShutDown { ... if (reference == frqReference) { /* * The client no longer has a reference to the * FinalizableReferenceQueue. We can stop. */ throw new ShutDown(); } frqReference is a PhantomReference to the used ReferenceQueue, so if this is GC'ed, no Finalizable{Weak, Soft, Phantom}References can be alive, since they reference the queue. So they have to be GC'ed before the queue itself can be GC'ed - but still, do we get the guarantee that these references will be enqueued to the ReferenceQueue at the order they get "garbage collected" (as if they get GC'ed one by one)? The code implies that there is some kind of guarantee, otherwise unprocessed references could theoretically remain in the queue. Thanks

• IPsec tunnel to Android device not created even though there is an IKE SA

  I'm trying to configure a VPN tunnel between an Android device running 4.1 and a Fedora 17 Linux box running strongSwan 5.0. The device reports that it is connected and strongSwan statusall returns that there is an IKE SA, but doesn't display a tunnel. I used the instructions for iOS in the wiki to generate certificates and configure strongSwan. Since Android uses a modified version of racoon this should work and since the connection is partly established I think I am on the right track. I don't see any errors about not being able to create the tunnel.   Basically I want a DataGrid (master) and details (textbox), where DataGrid is disabled during edit of details (forcing people to save/cancel)... Here's what I have... I have a bound Textbox which is the 'details' (very simple right now). There are buttons (Save/Cancel) which should be enabled when user tries to edit the text. Unfortunately Silverlight doesn't support UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged so I have to raise an event: <TextBox Text="{Binding SelectedItem.AcknowledgedNote, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=Explicit, ElementName=gridReminders}" TextChanged="txtAcknowledgedNote_TextChanged"/> The event to handle this calls BindingExpression.UpdateSource to update the source immediately: private void txtAcknowledgedNote_TextChanged(object sender, TextChangedEventArgs e) { BindingExpression be = txtAcknowledgedNote.GetBindingExpression(TextBox.TextProperty); be.UpdateSource(); } IN other words - typing in the textbox causes CanLoad of the DomainDataSource to become False (because we're editing). The TextChanged presumably is being called on the textbox and confusing the DomainDataSource which then thinks there's been a change. So how should I disable the DataGrid while editing without having the race condition? One obvious solution would be to use KeyDown events to trigger the call to UpdateSource but I always hate having to do that.

  I'm working on an application that accepts TCP connections and reads in data until an </File> marker is read and then writes that data to the filesystem. I don't want to disconnect, I want to let the client sending the data to do that so they can send multiple files in one connection. I'm using the StreamReader.EndOfStream around my outter loop, but it throws an IOException when the client disconnects.   Hello! I am a newbie in Flex development and using Flash Builder 4 with SDK 4. Now I get the error that "the prefix "fx" for element "fx:Style" is not bound" in line number 4. I searched for it, and it has sth. to do with namespaces, but I can not solve it by myelf. I have the following code: private List<VoiceInfo> GetInstalledVoices(SpeechSynthesizer synthesizer) { CultureInfo currentCulture = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture; var listOfVoiceInfo = from voice in synthesizer.GetInstalledVoices(currentCulture) select voice.VoiceInfo; return listOfVoiceInfo.ToList<VoiceInfo>(); } I then call the code from the following code snippet: var synthesizer = new SpeechSynthesizer(); var installedVoices = GetInstalledVoices(synthesizer); VoiceInfo voice = null; if (installedVoices != null && installedVoices.Count > 0) { voice = installedVoices.FirstOrDefault(); } if (voice != null) { synthesizer.SelectVoice(voice.Name); } The line of code that selects the voice throws the following exception: "Cannot set voice. No matching voice is installed or the voice was disabled." This is being done from within an ASP.NET web application - running on Windows Server 2003 R2. When I run this from within Visual Studio 2008 - everything works fine. I created a simple Console app to perform the same action - then ran it from the Windows Server 2003 machine - and it worked fine. I even modified the code in the Console app to loop through each of the installed voices and select the voice. No problems. However, when doing the same from within the web application, I get the same error. I am beating my head against a wall on this one. ANY help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Chris

  I'm struggling with regex for splitting logs files into log sequence in order to match pattern inside these sequences. log format is: timestamp fieldA fieldB fieldn log message1 timestamp fieldA fieldB fieldn log message2 log message2bis timestamp fieldA fieldB fieldn log message3 The timestamp regex is known. I want to extract every log sequence (potentialy multiline) between timestamps. And I want to keep the timestamp. I want in the same time to keep the exact count of lines. What I need is how to decorate timestamp pattern to make it split my log file in log sequence. Is there a way to have linq working with this ValueTypes? Update: Using NHibernate.UserTypes.IUserType it sortof works. • Unable to download .apk via webbrowser from drupal site

  I have a drupal-based website where people can log in and see private discussion forums. This is where I want to have my beta testers for my Android application download the beta .apk files. I tested this thoroughly on my Android 1.6 based myTouch 3G, and was able to log in, and download files attached to forum posts without problems. Now comes the interesting part: my testers on Droids and Nexus Ones (Android 2.0.1 and 2.1) were complaining that their downloads are failing. Since I don't have an 2.0 phone, I tried it out in a 2.0 emulator, and lo-and-behold, it didn't work. The download shows the indeterminate progress for a second or two, then shows "Download unsuccessful". Based on what I see in the logs, it is apparent that the server is returning a 404 for the download request from 2.0 browsers. I can download to my desktop and 1.6 phone no problem. The only reason I can think of that the server would return a 404 for a request is that for some reason the credentials or cookies aren't being passed by the download process. Logcat shows: http error 404 for download x Some background: I added the mime type to my .htaccess like this: AddType application/vnd.android.package-archive apk I checked the server logs and see the following for failed downloads: xx.xx.xx.224 - - [28/Jan/2010:20:39:00 -0500] "GET /system/files/grandmajong-beta090.apk HTTP/1.1" 404 - "http://trickybits.com/forums/beta-testing/grandma-jong/latest-version-090-b1" "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.6; en-us; sdk Build/Donut) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1"

• SSL HandShakeException: No_Certificate. Using IBM's J9 JVM and Apache Tomcat

  I am developing a mobile application that is to run on a Windows Mobile PDA. The application is written in Java and to run it we are using the J9 JVM from IBM. The application communicates with an Apache Tomcat server over HTTP and we are trying to set it up now to use SSL. I have generated public/private keys for both the client and the server, exported their self signed certificates and imported them into the respective keystores. Initially I tried to just get it working using only server side authentication and that was successful. But I am now trying to get mutual authentication by setting clientAuth="true" in the server.xml file in the apache conf directory. I have enabled the SSL logging on the server and when the client connects the server reports an SSLProtocolException: handshake alert: no_certificate. • Selecting a multi-dimensional array in LINQ

  I have a task where I need to translate a DataTable to a two-dimensional array. That's easy enough to do by just looping over the rows and columns (see example below). private static string[,] ToArray(DataTable table) { var array = new string[table.Rows.Count,table.Columns.Count]; for (int i = 0; i < table.Rows.Count; ++i) for (int j = 0; j < table.Columns.Count; ++j) array[i, j] = table.Rows[i][j].ToString(); return array; } What I'd really like to do is use a select statement in LINQ to generate that 2D array. Unfortunately it looks like there is no way in LINQ to select a multidimensional array. Yes, I'm aware that I can use LINQ to select a jagged array, but that's not what I want. Is my assumption correct, or is there a way to use LINQ to select a multi-dimensional array?

• How to make Stack.Pop threadsafe

  I am using the BlockingQueue code posted in this question, but realized I needed to use a Stack instead of a Queue given how my program runs. I converted it to use a Stack and renamed the class as needed. For performance I removed locking in Push, since my producer code is single threaded. My problem is how can thread working on the (now) thread safe Stack know when it is empty. Even if I add another thread safe wrapper around Count that locks on the underlying collection like Push and Pop do, I still run into the race condition that access Count and then Pop are not atomic. Possible solutions as I see them (which is preferred and am I missing any that would work better?): Consumer threads catch the InvalidOperationException thrown by Pop(). Pop() return a nullptr when _stack-Count == 0, however C++-CLI does not have the default() operator ala C#. Pop() returns a boolean and uses an output parameter to return the popped element.
