Can the opensocial API remotely search for users in orkut etc.?

Does anyone know if (and how) I can build an application (Java/Ruby/whatever) doing REST or RPC calls to a social network like Orkut (using opensocial) to search for a user by name or email address? So far I know that I can list all friends for a particular user ID, but I want to search among all users. Would I need to code it as an app/gadget running inside the google sandbox or is there a way to get a list of matching user ID via REST? So far I got this one to work: http://code.google.com/p/opensocial-ruby-client/wiki/GettingStarted. But with this API and the gadget linked there I only get people that are already linked to me... Problem facing fetching contacts from yahoo using open Social API

Hello there I was trying to get contact list from yahoo for POC. It was documented that the there is need to send a GET request to the URL with the user's ID and returns the contact list in XML format. I tried the same but facing the authentication message 401 from browser, normal console java application and from jsp too I guess I must try it using the open social API package. Can anybody please guide or suggest the solution for this problem if possible please post any code sample for any similar application in JAVA as I found most samples are unclear and in JSON only. How to move row data from one jqgrid

Are some data structures more suitable for functional programming than others?

In Real World Haskell, there is a section titled "Life without arrays or hash tables" where the authors suggest that list and trees are preferred in functional programming, whereas an array or a hash table might be used instead in an imperative program. This makes sense, since it's much easier to reuse part of an (immutable) list or tree when creating a new one than to do so with an array. So my questions are: Are there really significantly different usage patterns for data structures between functional and imperative programming? If so, is this a problem? What if you really do need a hash table for some application? Do you simply swallow the extra expense incurred for modifications?

Using ClaimsPrincipalPermissionAttribute, how do I catch the SecurityException?

In my MVC application I have a Controller Action that Deletes a customer, which I'm applying Claims Based Authorization to using WIF. Problem: if someone doesn't have access they see an exception in the browser (complete with stacktrace), but I'd rather just redirect them. active_scaffold routing error

If you haven't seen my question yesterday, this is my second rails app. The first went nice and smooth, but this one keeps giving me one random error after another. I installed active_scaffold for this app as well as the last app (the first error, instead of using script/install plugin git://active_scaffold repository, I did script/install plugin http://active_scaffold repository.) I didn't want to spell out basic CRUD on minor models. After the install problems, (before I found the http solution from a windows user when I'm on Linux) I thought I'd try out Hobo. Well, Hobo updated actionmailer, actionpack, activerecord, activeresource, and installed rack. Rails isn't even using the updated versions. But as you can see at the bottom of the trace it's using rack. I have a feeling it has something to do with my futzing around with installing Hobo which I uninstalled. Thanks in advanced. [Edit] I had asked the question over at the ActiveScaffold Group the answer (if you don't want to follow the link) was that this line needed to be added to routes: map.resources :modelName, :active_scaffold => true It doesn't entirely answer my question, since the documentation said nothing about changing routes. But, it works. Seg Fault when using std::string on an embedded Linux platform

Hi, I have been working for a couple of days on a problem with my application running on an embedded Arm Linux platform. Unfortunately the platform precludes me from using any of the usual useful tools for finding the exact issue. When the same code is run on the PC running Linux, I get no such error. In the sample below, I can reliably reproduce the problem by uncommenting the string, list or vector lines. Leaving them commented results in the application running to completion. I expect that something is corrupting the heap, but I cannot see what? The program will run for a few seconds before giving a segmentation fault. Django IN query as a string result - invalid literal for int() with base 10

Trying to query a 'Favorites' model to get a list of items a user has favorited, and then querying against a different model to get the objects back from that query to present to the template, but I'm getting an error: "invalid literal for int() with base 10" Looking over all of the other instances of that error, I couldn't find any in which the asker actually wanted to work with a comma separated list of integers, so I'm kind of at a loss. Command-line options for HH and opening CHM Windows Help Files

I'd like to be able to write Inquisit scripts in Vim. In the standard Inquisit application for writing scripts, I can press F1 and it brings up help on the topic related to the word under the cursor. I'd like to set up the same functionality through Vim. The help file for Inquisit is stored in a Windows .CHM file. I figured there must be a set of command-line options for doing a keyword search in a chm file, but I haven't been able to find a complete list of the command-line options, presumably for HH.exe. I did find this page with a few pointers, but it does not have a full listing of command-line options. I also found this discussion on AutoHotKey discussion board. It mentions keyhh. I also just found a vimscript designed to do exactly what I want Questions: Is there a complete list of command-line options for HH.exe? Is there a better way of going about what I am trying to do?

JSF : able to do mass update but unable to update a single row in a datatable

I have a simple data object: Car. I am showing the properties of Car objects in a JSF datatable. If i display the properties using inputText tags, i am able to get the modified values in the managed bean. However i just want a single row editable. So have placed a edit button in a separate column and inputText and outputText for every property of Car. the edit button just toggles the rendering of inputText and outputText. Plus i placed a update button in a separate column which is used to save the updated values. However on clicking the update button, i still get the old values instead of the modified values. Facebook API friends_get is extremely slow

I have a PHP application running in iFrame mode. I am rendering an <fb:multi-friend-selector condensed="true"> inside of <fb:serverfbml> tags. This is inside a PHP file that calls a function that gets a list of user IDs using $facebook->api_client->friends_get();. The multi-friend selector renders just fine, but, when I leave the friend_get() call uncommented, the page takes between 15-20 seconds to load (confirmed with Firebug)! The goal is to limit the number of users displayed in the selector by building a list of user ids not to display, for use in the friend selector's exclude_ids parameter. And since it's "exclude_ids" and not "include_ids", I can't think of a way of getting around this api call. It seems to me there must be something I can do to make the api call faster, because I've seen friend selectors that load much more quickly.

Hi In Android, I make a list view that describe the name fields from a table in SQLite. Clicking long-term on any List Item, context menu appears and then I wanna get the ID of that item (I mean in the table, there are ID and name fields) and pass this ID to next layout. Why I wanna pass this ID is to update this record in SQLite table. Here the next layout will be tablelayout. how to pass any value from one layout to another? how to code?

I have defined alias that looks like this: Alias /pictures/sm/ /var/www/my_site/data/_active_thumbnails/ Later in the VirtualHost section have: DocumentRoot /var/www/my_site/sites/www.my_site.com/htdocs RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^/thumbnails/(.*)\.(jpg|JPG) /images/stg-list-img.png [PT,L] What I'm trying to do is to display /images/stg-list-img.png placeholder image only if the original image does not exist on the drive. Right now it's replacing all the images from /thumbnails/. It looks like the RewriteCond is not aware about the Alias. Is there the way to overcome it? Thanks

problem with filtering the dropdownlist in scroll window

Hi all, Problem with filtering Dropdown list. The scenario is : in scroll window there are two fields Document types and type id: Document type is Dropdown list: As per document type selection type id look should display the values. For ex. If I select quote type from document type and if I open type id look up it should display only quotation in the look window. It should work for all the values of document type drop down list values. Its working fine. The item in the document types are: Quote, Order, Invoice, Return, BackOrder. The problem is after saving the data when I am displaying the same record in scroll window, suppose after displaying document type is QUOTE and document id is QTOARD, and in this position I am changing the document type from dropdown QUOTE to ORDER at this time warning message should c ome this range entered is in valid. Because in database table there is no document QTOARD for ORDER type. The same should work for all the condition. The table name is SOP_ID_Setp and key is SOP Type and DocumentID. sharpziplib + Whenever i try to add a file to existing archive, it overwrites previous contents

I am trying to add files to an existing zip file. Whenever i do, the new one contains the new list of files im passing in, but all of the previous ones are wiped out. How to I create an HQL query to return objects in a many to many relationship?

Hi there. I have an application that includes 2 classes Club and Article. These are mapped in Hibernate as a many to many relationship. As a result, hibernate has created a table called CLUB_ARTICLE which it uses to manage the many to many relation ship. The CLUB and ARTILCE tables have no direct reference to each other and the mapping is only represented in the CLUB_ARTICLE table. I need to create an HQL query that returns a list of articles for a particlular club. So I need to supply the club id and get back a list of Article objects that belong to it. For some reason, I just can't work out how to do this. Any help would be very much appriciated! Thanks.
