• How to Get / Set Div and Table Width / Height

  I have a Table (or a region) and want to set it's Width and Height value to another Div (or region). The second one is actually a Ajax Indicator modal which display a loading text when the page is asynchronously post back. here is the example <table id="MainTable"> <tr> <td> Content .... </td> </tr> </table> <div id="Progress"> Ajax Indocator </div> the following javascript didn't work document.getElementById("Progress").style.width = document.getElementById("MainTable").style.width; document.getElementById("Progress").style.height = document.getElementById("MainTable").style.height; It should work both on IE and FireFox. how to correct it. I checked some other solution in StackOverFlow but I couldn't fix it. I'mwaiting to hear from you.

• jQuery menu animation

  Hi Stackoverflow, I'm building a website where I'm using jQuery to animate a horizontal tabbed menu. What I want to achieve can be seen here: / link removed / If you hover/mouseover the "Link 1" tab, you'll see that a white div is expanding. Each of the tab menu items are a styled li-tag. What I want to do is, that when you hover/mouseover i.e. the "Link 2" tab, the white div contracts and then expands again with content related to "Link 2" instead of "Link 1". Also, the "Link 1" tab should be expanded by default (i.e. when you just entered the site) Does any of you jQuery ninjas out there know how to do this? • asp.net - updatepannel can't read innerHTML?

  In my asp.net page, I have a jquery sortable accordian (in an update panel) I use so that clients can re-arrange items. Then to save it, users would click a button (thats created from jquery) and it would traverse through the accoridion in the DOM, and write the info to a asp control textbox. Then invoke the click function of a asp button control, which then reads that information and saves the data. But now I decided to simplify this step, and use html agility pack in c#, so users click the asp button control (inside an update panel), and then it would get the innerHTML of the accordian. But the problem is, the html it's getting is not the reflecting the changes a user can make to the accordion (i.e. re arranging it), it the same as when the DOM was ready on page load... But note that, using javascript to write the innerHTML to a textbox, then from the c# function, I can read the up to date html from the accordian. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get the up to data html from the accordian in c#?

  I have a set of radio buttons where when I click a radio button, I want the label to change color or whatever. But when I click another radio button, the color goes away. Therefore I have something like this: jQuery('label').mouseup(function(){ jQuery(this).prev().attr('checked', 'checked'); jQuery('input').next().removeClass('selected'); jQuery('input:checked').next().addClass('selected'); }); if you need to see some html: <input type="radio" id="radio1" name="myRadio" value="option-1" /> <label for="radio1">Swing Gate</label> <input type="radio" id="radio2" name="myRadio" value="option-2" /> <label for="radio2">Swing Gate</label> This first removes 'selected' class from all the labels and then re-applies to only the checked labels. It works and is simple, but I was thinking this might not be the most efficient way of doing this. I imagine that javascript is iterating through each input element and using more resources than necessary. I'm curious if anyone knows of a common way of doing this more efficiently. I seem to be doing this type of thing quite often in my jQuery code. I've just been using jQuery for the past 3 months or so btw.

• select list modified on-the-fly doesn't fire onChange() for new first element.

  In the code below, I'm using jquery 1.4.1 to modify the options in a select list when the user clicks on the list (replacing the single Old item with three New items). Selecting either New 2 or New 3 correctly fires the change() method (and show the alert), but selecting "New 1" does not. What am I missing? • HTML5 Local Storage of audio element source - is it possible?

  Hi stackoverflow experts I've been experimenting with the audio and local storage features of html5 of late and have run into something that has me stumped. I'd like to be able to cache or store the source of the audio element locally to enable speedier and offline playback. The problem is I can't see how this is possible with the current implementation. I have tried the following using webkit: Creating a manifest file to set up local caching but the audio file appears not to be a cacheable item maybe due to the way it is stream or something I have also attempted to use javascript to put an audio object into local storage but the size of the mp3 makes this impossible due to memory issues (i think). I have tried to use the data uri and base64 to use the html as a audio transport that can be cached but again the filesize makes this prohibitive. Also the audio element does not seem to like this in webkit (works fine in mozilla) I have tried several methods of putting the data into the local database store. Again suffering the same issues as the other cases. I'd love to hear any other ideas anyone may have as to how I could achieve my goal of offline playback using caching/local storage in webkit.

• Processing data from an AJAX request

  I have a PHP API I'm working with that outputs everything as JSON. I need to call one of the API methods and parse it out using an AJAX request. I am using jQuery (though it shouldn't matter). When I make the request it errors out with a "parsererror" as the textStatus and a "Syntax Error: invalid label" when I make the request. Simplified code: $.ajax ({ type: "POST", url: "http://mydomain.com/api/get/userlist/"+mid, dataType: "json", dataFilter: function(data, type) { /* Here we assume and pray */ users = eval(data); alert(users[1].id); }, success: function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest) { alert(data.length); // Should be an array, yet is undefined. }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert(textStatus); alert(errorThrown); }, complete: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus) { alert("Done"); } }); If I leave off the eval(data) then everything works fine. Well, except for data still being undefined in success. Note that I'm taking an array of objects in PHP and then passing them out through json_encode. Would that make any difference? There has been no progress made on this. I'm willing to throw more code up if someone believes they can help.   I am making a website that is divided by several sections <div id='section-1' class='section'>web content</div> <div id='section-2' class='section'>web content</div> I have like ten sections on my webpage ,each sections height is set to the user window height when document is ready by javascript $('.section').height($(window).height()); Some effects like slideshows on my webpage require the calculated height of the section in order to work properly. Therefore I always use something like this at document ready as a solution. setTimeout(startslideshow,1000); setTimeout(startanimations,1000); ...etc To make sure the section height is the user window height before the slideshow's code start because the sections cannot change to user window height instantly once the webpage loaded will generate serious problems in my slideshow code,like wrong calculated positions. Therefore there will be a situation that's after the page loaded, there will be about a second everything is messed up,before everything can works properly, how could I avoid that being seen by the user? I tried to $(document).hide(),or $('html,body').hide(), then fade in after a second,but I get other weird problems, especially on ipad,my fixed position top navigation bar will always become 'not fixed' while user is scrolling. As I am a self-learner, I afraid my method is not typical. I want to know what is the common ways of real web programmers usually do when they have to divide his webpage into different sections and set its height to window height , then make sure the other effects that's depends on the section height works properly and avoid to wait the height change for a second?

• Adding dynamic content with events in jquerymobile

  Currently I'm stuck with a problem in jquerymobile: I'm adding items to a list dynamically and use enhanceWithin() in the end (so styling is correct). After this I like to add click-events for each list item but the problem is, that enhanceWithin runs asynchronous and so I always get the error message "cannot call methods on checkboxradio prior to initialization; attempted to call method 'refresh'" When I delay the event-adding-code it works perfectly. • How do I display a sting, based on which id is set as selected?

The ids for each display via an alert right now, but I can't seem to make them appear in "english". The challenge I have to face is, that one parameter of my target function is the 'event'-variable and the second one an object. • Clickable label not working in IE 8

  I've got the following list item: <li> <input value="someRadioButton" name="ctl00$mainContent$group" type="radio" id="ctl00_mainContent_somelRadioButton" onclick="showSomeInfo()" /> <label for="ctl00_mainContent_someRadioButton"><img class="extraPadding-Right-10" src="https://xxy.com/some_mark_37x23.gif" /></label> </li> So what shows up is a radio button and an image next to it. When I am in FireFox, Chrome, and Safari clicking on that image fires the showSomeInfo() that's specified in the radio's onclick. I'm not sure why I guess because it's wrapped in a label and that label is relating to that radio button.... But anyway that's not my problem. I like that when you click the image, that javascript method showSomeInfo() is called. But the problem is that it works in all browsers except IE 8. If I open this page in IE 8, clicking on the image does nothing and I'm not sure why. I'm baffled at this one.

But when i open IE8 its so slow when i put my mouse cursor on another menu area.   Ok the problem I'm having is that I have a block of javascript I've successfully scraped out of a websites source and now I have to sift through the js to get the specific values I'm looking for. Below is the chunk i'm needing to deal with. I need to find "flvFileName" and get all the file names listed. In this case its: trailer1,trailer2,trailer3. At first I started using regex to match the start and end tags and them match the file names and extract them to an array but the problem is that there isn't always 3 videos in the list. Could be 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. So matching doesn't work. Any thoughts on a way to approach this that won't make me continue to abuse my laptop? • Inconsistent canvas drawing in Android browser

  In putting together a small canvas app I've stumbled across a weird behavior that only seems to occur in the default browser in Android. When drawing to a canvas that has the globalCompositeOperation set to 'destination-out' to act as the 'eraser' tool, Android browser sometimes acts as expected, sometimes does not update the pixels in the canvas at all. the setup: context.clearRect(0,0, canvas.width, canvas.height); context.drawImage(img, 0, 0, canvas.width, canvas.height); context.globalCompositeOperation = 'destination-out'; draw a circle to erase pixels from the canvas: context.fillStyle = '#FFFFFF'; context.beginPath(); context.arc(x,y,25,0,TWO_PI,true); context.fill(); context.closePath(); a small demo to illustrate the issue can be seen here: http://gumbojuice.com/files/source-out/ and the javascript is here: http://gumbojuice.com/files/source-out/js/main.js this has been tested in multiple desktop and mobile browsers and behaves as expected.   I'm sending a json object through ajax to a java servlet. The json object is key-value type with three keys that point to arrays and a key that points to a single string. I build it in javascript like this: var jsonObject = {"arrayOne": arrayOne, "arrayTwo": arrayTwo, "arrayThree": arrThree, "string": stringVar}; I then send it to a java servlet using ajax as follows: httpRequest.open('POST', url, true); httpRequest.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); httpRequest.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); var jsonString = jsonObject.toJSONString(); httpRequest.send(jsonString); This will send the string to my servlet, but It isn't showing as I expect it to. The whole json string gets set to the name of one of my request's parameters. So in my servlet if I do request.getParameterNames(); It will return an enumeration with one of the table entries' key's to be the entire object contents. I may be mistaken, but my thought was that it should set each key to a different parameter name. So I should have 4 parameters, arrayOne, arrayTwo, arrayThree, and string. Am I doing something wrong or is my thinking off here? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  Hi! I already spent all day looking for an answer for this: I am using Perl with LWP::UserAgent and HTTP::Cookies. My problem is that I can't get past an cookie-base age-check. In Perl I use this code: my $browser = LWP::UserAgent->new; my $resp = $browser->get( $url, 'User-Agent' => 'MySpider/1.0' ); #Cookie Setup my $cookies = HTTP::Cookies->new(); $cookies->set_cookie(1,'age_check', '1','/','.example.com/', 80, ,0,3354512128, 0); $browser->cookie_jar($cookies); The Site is setting the Cookie with JavaScript function saveSplash(domain) { var expDate = new Date(); expDate.setTime(expDate.getTime()+(1*24*3600*1000)); setCookie("age_check", 1, expDate, '/', domain); setCookie("screen_width", getScreenWidth(), expDate, '/', domain); } This is the Cookie saved by my browser: age_check 1 example.com/ 1088 3354512128 30140182 2646218624 30139981 Any idea what I am doing wrong? • Changing iframe visibility on Mozilla not working

  I've got a simple iframe that I want hidden until an event from that iframe is fire via easyXDM. It's working fine on Chrome, but somehow not on Mozilla. The event is being fired on both browsers, but only shows the iframe on Chrome. The only way to show the iframe on Mozilla is to call the same code using an onclick event.
