  • How to change order in ordered+persisted collection?

    I just need to change order of items in a (previously persisted) ordered collection... I tried simply passing the re-arranged collection to a setter: after committing a transaction the collection is gone. Then I tried to clear() the existing collection and addAll() afterwards: clear() makes persistent manager to mark all the elements as deleted. (But obviously I would like to be able to work with the collection items in the very transaction.) (The collection is not in a default fetch group, so I tried the above also with the named fetch group added into the fetch plan. No luck.) This must be the most stupid question, but I ran out of ideas and I'm stuck here two days already. I swear I googled. :(

    Hi, I'd like to be able to read the system's SMS content provider. Basically I wanted to make an SMS messaging app, but it would only be useful if I could see past threads etc. It seems like there's a content provider for this, but I can't find documentation for it - anyone know where that is?   • Chrome Extension contenteditable get and set caret position

    I am creating an extension where I need to insert a link into the gmail window. I am able to create a simple extension button in the top of the window and execute code that does replaces all the links. Now, I want to do add links in the contenteditable section as I type. It seems like there should be a simple way to replace text with a link in the document object model. If this is not true I need to do three things. Insert text from the current caret position Capture the caret position. Set the caret position by its offset. I have tried using window.getSelection within the gmail context(that is a body element that is set to contenteditable and embedded inside an iframe in the gmail tab) to get the current range and position. The selection is always empty and contains no ranges regardless of whether text is selected or not.

  • Is there some performance issue between leaving empty ListProperties or using dynamic (expando) prop

    Is there a datastore performance difference between adding dynamic properties of the expando class when they are needed for an entity or the simpler (for me) framework of just setting up all possible properties I might need from the start even though most instances will just be left empty. In my specific case I would be having 5-8 empty ReferenceList properties as 'overhead' that will be empty when I skip using expando class.

  • Error when starting an activity

    I'm starting an activity when a button is pressed, and normally (in other apps) haven't had an issue. But when I press the button in this app, I get an "unable to marshal value" error. Exact(ish) error from LogCat: 03-22 02:49:02.883: WARN/System.err(252): java.lang.RuntimeException: Parcel: unable to marshal value {CLASSNAME}@44dcf1b8 I feel that this might be related to the extra that I'm passing to the intent. I'm passing an ArrayList as a serializable to this new intent. My concern is that the data structure that the ArrayList contains isn't being serialized (as it's a personal data structure). Is the array list content data structure causing this? Something else that I'm missing?

    I want to make a measure tape component for my app. It should look something like this with values from 0cm to 1000cm: Initially I created long bitmap image with repeated tape background. I drew that image to canvas in onDraw() method of my TapeView (extended ImageView). It was obvious because a size of the bitmap image was ~4mb! In order to increase the performance, instead of creating the bitmap I use Drawable (with the yellow tape strip) and set the tile mode to REPEAT: setTileModeX(TileMode.REPEAT); The view now is very light but I cannot figure out how to add numbers. There are too many of them to redraw them each time the onDraw method is called. Is there any way that I can draw these numbers on canvas and then save that canvas so it can be reused in onDraw() method?

  • Why does Windows Firewall want to block Google Chrome today?

    I've been using the same public Wi-Fi (staying in a guesthouse) for over a week now. But this morning for the first time I got this puzzling warning from Windows Firewall: Why does Windows Firewall want to block one of the world's most popular web browsers today after being fine with it for years, and being fine with it on this connection for a week? Could it hinge on the words, some features? If so could it be something like a rare or new feature of Chrome that uses a different HTTP port? And if so why doesn't the security alert tell me any more about it? Or could it be a known bug in Windows Firewall? Or perhaps a known virus etc attaching itself to Google Chrome? Or is there a chance it's related to "Other browser makers follow Google's lead, revoke rogue certificates"? I haven't restarted Chrome for days and have downloaded but not installed a Windows update from a few days ago. So I'm not sure what may have managed to change on my machine since yesterday.

  • SoundPool.load() and FileDescriptor from file

    I tried using the load function of the SoundPool that takes a FileDescriptor, because I wanted to be able to set the offset and length. The File is not stored in the Ressources but a file on the storage card. Even though neither the load nor the play function of the SoundPool throw any Exception or print anything to the console, the sound is not played. Using the same code, but use the file path string in the SoundPool constructor works perfectly. This is how I have tried the loading (start equals 0 and length is the length of the file in miliseconds): FileInputStream fileIS = new FileInputStream(new File(mFile)); mStreamID = mSoundPool.load(fileIS.getFD(), start, length, 0); mPlayingStreamID = mSoundPool.play(mStreamID, 1f, 1f, 1, 0, 1f); If I would use this, it works: mStreamID = mSoundPool.load(mFile, 0); mPlayingStreamID = mSoundPool.play(mStreamID, 1f, 1f, 1, 0, 1f); Any ideas anyone?     Hi i have a inlogscreen (inlogdialog.xml), which includes 2 EditText (username, passwd) and i have a CheckBox (saveuser) with which the user can decide weather to save the username or not. On the mainform (main.xml) i have a listner for these 3 values: private class OnReadyListener implements MyCustomForm.ReadyListener { public void ready(String user, String pass, boolean save) { username = user; password = pass; } } Now i first want to save the username through SharedPreferences but it doesn`t get saved, can someone help me please? If i check with system.out.println, the username is present in String username.   • Catch FileNotFoundException in AsyncTask method

    I'm getting the favicon of a website with a method. Of course not every website has a favicon. So I want to catch it. The app doesn't crash if the website doesn't have a favicon but I still get an FileNotFoundException in the LogCat. The problem I'm encountering is that I can't catch it When I add `catch (FileNotFoundException f) to my try-catch block it tells me Unreachable catch block for FileNotFoundException. This exception is never thrown from the try statement body. The options I have is to remove it or to add a throws declaration to the doInBackground-method. The latter is not possible. This is the whole Try-Catch try{ String baseURL = getBaseURL ( sourceURLArr[i] ); System.out.println(baseURL + "/favicon.ico"); Bitmap favicon = getBitmapFromURL( baseURL + "/favicon.ico"); Drawable fv = new BitmapDrawable(getResources(), Bitmap.createScaledBitmap(favicon, 20, 20, true)); source [i].setCompoundDrawablesWithIntrinsicBounds(fv, null, null, null); } catch(NullPointerException e){ } catch(FileNotFoundException f){ } I already tried to switch the FileNotFoundException with the NullPointerException but it was the same error. When I add the throws to the asynctask do in background method I get Exception FileNotFoundException is not compatible with throws clause in AsyncTask<Void,Void,Void>.doInBackground(Void[]) How can I now catch the FileNotFoundException?

    I want to create a Chrome extension that will automatically like every post I make on Facebook. My question is, how can I detect when I post something, and if that post if mine? Is there an event that occurs or something? (And just for the record, I know that these sorts of things are impossible when other apps post on my behalf, at least from an extension perspective. So I'm only concentrating on posts that I actually click the "post" button, or enter for, myself.)

I am wondering if I'd be able to use intents to retrieve a list of all the sub-applications which match some discovery intent. The main application currently needs to know what Intents to use to START these sub-applications, but is there a way to use intents to see if other Activities on the device match a set of intent-filters?

  • Problem with onscreen keyboard on Droid

    Hi all i am developing an application which has a general text entry form. So while testing on my moto droid, i am facing a strange issue-- when i touch an input field ( which is at lower end of the screen) -- the on screen keyboard pops up and hides the input field. So user have to enter blindly. So is this a sdk issue OR it is particular for droids OR am i doing something wrong??? I have tested this same form on G1, Hero..i see no issues at all. Please help...
