• Mac gcc non-virtual thunk error

  I'm getting these non-virtual thunk errors only in the Deployment build of my app. It uses a private framework called Lgi. Building on 10.5.8 using XCode 3.1.4 (latest for leopard?) Anyway I know I'm not leaving those undefined because it does in fact link and run fine in the development build. Now after googling the issue the first thing to try is changing the optimization setting, which I did... and no dice. Some link error. So these virtual functions are initially defined in GDragDropTarget, and GWindow's inheritance looks like this: class LgiClass GWindow : public GView #ifndef WIN32 , public GDragDropTarget #endif (LgiClass being for __declspec export/import on win32) Any ideas on what to try next? Maybe I need to provide more info.

• MKMapKit custom annotations being added to map, but are not visible on the map

  I learned a lot from the screencast at http://icodeblog.com/2009/12/21/introduction-to-mapkit-in-iphone-os-3-0/ , and ive been trying to incorporate the way he creates a custom annotation into my iphone app. He is hardcoding annotations and adding them individually to the map, whereas i want to add them from my data source. So i have an array of objects with a lat and a lng (ive checked that the values are within range and ought to be appearing on the map) that i iterate through and do [mapView addAnnotation:truck] once this process is completed, i check the number of annotations on the map with [[mapView annotations] count] and its equal to the number it ought to be, so all the annotations are getting added onto the mapView, but for some reason I cant see any annotations in the simulator. I've compared my code with his in all the pertinent places many times, but nothing seems to stand out as being incorrect. Ive also reviewed my code for the last several hours trying to find a point where I do something wrong, but nothing is coming to mind. The images are named just as they are assigned in the custom AnnotationView, the loadAnnotation function is done properly, etc... i dont know what it could be. so i suppose if i could have the answer to one question it would be, what are possible causes for a mapView to contain several annotations, but to not show any on the map? • Error using Dynamic Data Filtering: missing datasource

  I am trying to use the ASP.NET Dynamic Data Filtering project, but I'm running into a problem during the configuration. I'm following the instructions on the author's blog, and everything works like described. Then it tells me to change the datasource using the designer view. I am told to select the "GridDataSource" in the "Configure data source" wizard. This option is not there though. I get all of the classes in my project, including the DataContext that was generated by Linq. When I choose "Show only DataContext objects", the dropdown ("Choose your context object:") is completely empty. When I turn of the checkbox and choose my DataContext class, I get asked which table I want and all that. But, as the whole purpose of a Dynamic Data site is NOT to use one single table, that's not much help. So I've looked at the instructions again and copied the resulting datasource from the example: <asp:DynamicLinqDataSource ID="GridDataSource" runat="server" EnableDelete="True" EnableUpdate="True"></asp:DynamicLinqDataSource> Which is exactly what I had, without the "WhereParameters" nodes in there. Now, when I run the list page however, I get an exception about a missing datasource from the filtering component. Of course when I remove the DynamicFilterRepeater, it works again. • Strings in array are no longer strings after jQuery.each()

  I'm pretty confused with the behaviour of arrays of strings when I loop them through the jQuery.each() method. Apparently, the strings become jQuery objects inside the callback function. However, I cannot use the this.get() method to obtain the original string; doing so triggers a this.get is not a function error message. I suppose the reason is that it's not a DOM node. I can do $(this).get() but it makes my string become an array (from "foo" to ["f", "o", "o"]). How can I cast it back to string? I need to get a variable of String type because I pass it to other functions that compare the values among them. • Dynamically create and save image with Django and PIL/Django-Photologue

  I want to generate a page of html with dynamic content and then save the result as an image as well as display the page to the user. So, user signs up to attend conference and gives their name and org. That data is combined with html/css elements to show what their id badge for the conference will look like (their name and org on top of our conference logo background) for preview. Upon approval, the page is saved on the server to an image format (PNG, PDF or JPG) to be printed onto a physical badge by an admin later. I am using Django and django-photologue powered by PIL.   The scenario is as follows, I have 3 objects (i simplified the names) named Parent, parent's child & child's child parent's child is a set in parent, and child's child is a set in child. mapping is as follows (relevant parts) parent <set name="parentset" table="pc-table" lazy="false" fetch="subselect" cascade="all-delete-orphan" inverse="true"> <key column=FK_ID_PC" on-delete="cascade"/> <one-to-many class="parentchild,parentchild-ns"/> </set> parent's child <set name="childset" table="cc-table" lazy="false" fetch="subselect" cascade="all-delete-orphan" inverse="true"> <key column="FK_ID_CC" on-delete="cascade"/> <one-to-many class="childschild,childschild-ns"/> </set> What i want to achieve is that when i delete the parent, there would be a cascade delete all the way trough to child's child. But what currently happens is this. (this is purely for mapping test purposes) getting a parent entity (works fine) IQuery query = session.CreateQuery("from Parent where ID =" + ID); IParent doc = query.UniqueResult<Parent>(); now the delete part session.Delete(doc); transaction.Commit(); After having solved the 'cannot insert null value' error with cascading and inverse i hopes this would now delete everything with this code, but only the parent is being deleted. Did i miss something in my mapping which is likely to be missed? Any hint in the right direction is more than welcome!

• Argument exception after trying to use TryGetObjectByKey

  Hi, EDIT: Somethings wrong.... I have to use objectContext.Frontpages.ToArray() before I can use TryGetObjectByEntityKey(). Any ideas anyone? I'm trying to retrieve an object from my database using entity (framework 4) When I use the following code it gives an ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added. if (databaseContext.TryGetObjectByKey(entityKey, out result)) { return (result != null && result is TEntityObject) ? result as TEntityObject : null; } else { return null; } When I check the objectContext, I see the entities, but only if I enumerate the specific list of entities manually using VS2010, it works. What am I missing? Do I have to do something else before i can get the item from the database?   The application that I am working on has a generic Parent Form called RSChild, that is used to perform some operations depending on whether or not the control that is contained within it is in a MdiTabManager or inside of its own modal form. Then the actual User Controls contained within Inherit from a Interface Called ObjectEdit (Objects that we allow to be edited). At a point in my code I am doing this. I tried doing castTabPageToRSChild(page)RSObject.GetType and using that in the DirectCast and I also tried creating another object that was separate from that and doing the same thing. My code works as intended I'm just trying to see if there is a manner in which I didn't have a lot of replicated code. My vision would be to do something like For Each page As XtraMdiTabPage In alikePages If id = DirectCast(castTabPageToRSchild(page).RSObject, TypeOfThatObject).Id Then Return True Next However I have a feeling this is not possible due to the behavior of DirectCast.

  I'm writing my first android app (I'm a noob at android, but decent at java). The first screen of the app consists of a huge list (about 1.5K items) of Manga-objects. However, (this might be caused by the virtualization of the unit though), the result is really slow. Scrolling the list takes forever and you can only scroll small peaces of the time. How can I make the list work like the one in the contacts-app? So that when you start scrolling a handle pops out at the right side of the screen, and when you drag it letters shows up as of how far you've scrolled (the list is sorted alphabetically), and also, is there a way I could improve the performance of the list?

• Populating Models from other Models in Django?

  This is somewhat related to the question posed in this question but I'm trying to do this with an abstract base class. For the purposes of this example lets use these models: class Comic(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=20) desc = models.CharField(max_length=100) volume = models.IntegerField() ... <50 other things that make up a Comic> class Meta: abstract = True class InkedComic(Comic): lines = models.IntegerField() class ColoredComic(Comic): colored = models.BooleanField(default=False) In the view lets say we get a reference to an InkedComic id since the tracer, err I mean, inker is done drawing the lines and it's time to add color. Once the view has added all the color we want to save a ColoredComic to the db. Obviously we could do inked = InkedComic.object.get(pk=ink_id) colored = ColoredComic() colored.name = inked.name etc, etc. But really it'd be nice to do: colored = ColoredComic(inked_comic=inked) colored.colored = True colored.save() I tried to do class ColoredComic(Comic): colored = models.BooleanField(default=False) def __init__(self, inked_comic = False, *args, **kwargs): super(ColoredComic, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs) if inked_comic: self.__dict__.update(inked_comic.__dict__) self.__dict__.update({'id': None}) # Remove pk field value but it turns out the ColoredComic.objects.get(pk=1) call sticks the pk into the inked_comic keyword, which is obviously not intended. (and actually results in a int does not have a dict exception) My brain is fried at this point, am I missing something obvious, or is there a better way to do this?

• NSPredicates, scopes and SearchDisplayController

  Building a search with some custom objects and three scopes: All, Active, and Former. Since I wanted to search four fields at at time, this question helped me come up with the below code: - (void)filterContentForSearchText:(NSString*)searchText scope:(NSString *)scope { [[self filteredArtists] removeAllObjects]; NSPredicate *resultPredicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"familyName CONTAINS[cd] %@ OR familyKanji CONTAINS[cd] %@ OR givenName CONTAINS[cd] %@ OR givenKanji CONTAINS[cd] %@", searchText, searchText, searchText, searchText]; [[self filteredArtists] addObjectsFromArray:[[self artistList] filteredArrayUsingPredicate:resultPredicate]]; } However it no longer takes scope into account. I have been playing around with if statements, adding AND scope == 'Active', etc. to the end of the statement and using NSCompoundPredicates to no avail. Whenever I activate a scope, I'm not getting any matches for it. Just a note that I've seen approaches like this one that take scope into account, however they only search inside one property.

• Making Ninject Interceptors work with async methods

  I am starting to work with ninject interceptors to wrap some of my async code with various behaviors and am having some trouble getting everything working. Here is an interceptor I am working with: public class MyInterceptor : IInterceptor { public async void Intercept(IInvocation invocation) { try { invocation.Proceed(); //check that method indeed returns Task await (Task) invocation.ReturnValue; RecordSuccess(); } catch (Exception) { RecordError(); invocation.ReturnValue = _defaultValue; throw; } } This appears to run properly in most normal cases. I am not sure if this will do what I expect. Although it appears to return control flow to the caller asynchronously, I am still a bit worried about the possibility that the proxy is unintentionally blocking a thread or something. That aside, I cannot get the exception handling working. For this test case: [Test] public void ExceptionThrown() { try { var interceptor = new MyInterceptor(DefaultValue); var invocation = new Mock<IInvocation>(); invocation.Setup(x => x.Proceed()).Throws<InvalidOperationException>(); interceptor.Intercept(invocation.Object); } catch (Exception e) { } } I can see in the interceptor that the catch block is hit, but the catch block in my test is never hit from the rethrow. I am more confused because there is no proxy or anything here, just pretty simple mocks and objects. I also tried something like Task.Run(() => interceptor.Intercept(invocation.Object)).Wait(); in my test, and still no change. The test passes happily, but the nUnit output does have the exception message. I imagine I am messing something up, and I don't quite understand what is going on as much as I think I do. Is there a better way to intercept an async method? What am I doing wrong with regards to exception handling?

• Selection Highlight in NSCollectionView

  On some occasions my head just hurts from banging it against the Cocoa wall. Today is one of those days. I have a working NSCollectionView with one minor, but critical, exception. Getting and highlighting the selected item within the collection. I've had all this working prior to Snow Leopard, but something appears to have changed and I can't quite place my finger on it, so I took my NSCollectionView right back to a basic test and followed Apple's documentation for creating an NSCollectionView here: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/DOCUMENTATION/Cocoa/Conceptual/CollectionViews/Introduction/Introduction.html The collection view works fine following the quick start guide. However, this guide doesn't discuss selection other than "There are such features as incorporating image views, setting objects as selectable or not selectable and changing colors if they are selected". Using this as an example I went to the next step of binding the Array Controller to the NSCollectionView with the controller key selectionIndexes, thinking that this would bind any selection I make between the NSCollectionView and the array controller and thus firing off a KVO notification. I also set the NSCollectionView to be selectable in IB. There appears to be no selection delegate for NSCollectionView and unlike most Cocoa UI views, there appears to be no default selected highlight. So my problem really comes down to a related issue, but two distinct questions. How do I capture a selection of an item? How do I show a highlight of an item? NSCollectionView's programming guides seem to be few and far between and most searches via Google appear to pull up pre-Snow Leopard implementations, or use the view in a separate XIB file. For the latter (separate XIB file for the view), I don't see why this should be a pre-requisite otherwise I would have suspected that Apple would not have included the view in the same bundle as the collection view item. I know this is going to be a "can't see the wood for the trees" issue - so I'm prepared for the "doh!" moment. As usual, any and all help much appreciated.

• How do you clean Core Data generated models and code from a project?

  I'm having an extremely annoying problem with Core Data in the iPhone SDK. I would say in general Core Data for the most part appears easy to use and nice to implement. I have a sqlite database that is being used as a read only reference to pull data elements out for an iPhone app. It would seem there are really mysterious issues relating to what seems to be migration of the database to the most recent versions of my schema. Why can't you just clean out your stored objects and models and let a project redo all of it when you compile next? You would think if you setup a stored object model there would be a way to just reset it and recompile. I've tried what feels like a thousand 'tips' that have been the results of hours of google searches and documentation prowling to figure out how to do this.   My knowledge of Lambda expressions is a bit shaky, while I can write code that uses Lambda expressions (aka LINQ), I'm trying to write my own method that takes a few arguments that are of type Lambda Expression. Background: I'm trying to write a method that returns a Tree Collection of objects of type TreeItem from literally ANY other object type. IList<TreeItem> treeItems = TreeItem.GetTreeFromObject<Category>( categories, c => c.Id, c => c.Name, c => c.ChildCategories); I could replace the Expressions with string values, and just use reflection, but I'm trying to avoid this as I want to make it strongly typed. My reasons for doing this is that I have a control that accepts a List of type TreeItem, whereas I have dozens of different types that are all in a tree like structure, and don't want to write seperate conversion methods for each type (trying to adhere to the DRY principle). Am I going about this the right way? Is there a better way of doing this perhaps?

  I have a custom web service deployed into WSS 3. It has two web methods. The first one returns the version of the loaded assembly without any invocation of the SharePoint objects. The second returns some basic info about the library, something like: var spLibrary = [find library logic]; return spLibrary.Name+"@"+spLibrary.Url; In the client app I have something like the following: var service = new WebService1(); service.Url = [url]; service.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; service.Method1(); service.Method2(); When the client app runs on the machine where SharePoint is deployed, everything works just fine. When the client app runs on the remote machine (but under the same user) the first method still works, but the second one throws System.Net.WebException: HTTP 401: Unauthorized. I have tried to set credentials manualy (service.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential(login, password, domain);) but this doesnt help. I've tried to invoke the built in SharePoint web services using a similar scenario, and they work just fine: Sorry for the mistake... • WPF binding to ComboBox SelectedItem when reference not in ItemsSource.

  I'm binding the PageMediaSize collection of a PrintQueue to the ItemSource of a ComboBox (This works fine). Then I'm binding the SelectedItem of the ComboBox to the DefaultPrintTicket.PageMediaSize of the PrintQueue. While this will set the selected value to the DefaultPrintTicket.PageMediaSize just fine it does not set the initially selected value of the ComboBox to the initial value of DefaultPrintTicket.PageMediaSize This is because the DefaultPrintTicket.PageMediaSize reference does not match any of the references in the collection. However I don't want it to compare the objects by reference, but instead by value, but PageMediaSize does not override Equals (and I have no control over it). What I'd really like to do is setup a IComparable for the ComboBox to use, but I don't see any way to do that. I've tried to use a Converter, but I would need more than the value and I couldn't figured out how to pass the collection to the ConverterProperty. Any ideas on how to handle this problem. • Implement DDD and drawing the line between the an Entity and value object

  I am implementing an EMR project. I would like to apply a DDD based approach to the problem. I have identified the "Patient" as being the core object of the system. I understand Patient would be an entity object as well as an aggregrate. I have also identified that every patient must have a "Doctor" and "Medical Records". The medical records would encompass Labs, XRays, Encounter.... I believe those would be entity objects as well. Let us take a Encounter for example. My implementation currently has a few fields as "String" properties, which are the complaint, assessment and plan. The other items necessary for an Encounter are vitals. I have implemented vitals as a value object. Given that it will be necessary to retrieve vitals without haveing to retrieve each Encounter then do vitals become part of the Encounter aggregate and patient aggregrate. I am assuming I could view the Encounter as an aggregrate, because other items are spwaned from the Encounter like prescriptions, lab orders, xrays. Is approach right that I am taking in identifying my entities and aggregates. In the case of vitals, they are specific to a patient, but outside of that there is not any other identity associated with them.

  NEWBIE ALERT! background: For the first time, I am writing a model that needs to be validated. I cannot have two Items that have overlapping "date ranges". I have everything working, except when I raise forms.ValidationError, I get the yellow screen of death (debug=true) or a 500 page (debug=false). • How can i handle a form submit using REAL OOP in PHP

  Im used to java and creating UML.. and i was wondering how can PHP be OOP, the objects live only until you make a request.. then they destroy, so if im using a database is useless to create a class and add the members (variables) to the class, they will be useless.. i cant pass the main system object from one page to another, or similar so how can PHP be compare to jave? you never do OOP .. i mean REAL OOP.. not creating classes , in fact your index will be a procedural file with some object instance and then ? how about if i make a html form and i want to submit the data.. i have to call a file which is not a class is a php procedural file were i grab the submited data with POST, from that file you will instance a class and do some logic there.. but for me thats not pure OOP.. can somebody point me to the right way of OOP using a form submit example ?
