    My application layout contains a navigation div, and a content div constructed as a partial. I want to use ajax so that whenever a person clicks on a link in the navigation div, the contents of that page renders in the content div without a refresh.   • How to format JSON Date?

    I'm taking my first crack at AJAX with jQuery. I'm getting my data onto my page, but I'm having some trouble with the JSON that is returned for Date data types. Basically, I'm getting a string back that looks like this: /Date(1224043200000)/ From a total newbie at JSON - How do I format this to a short date format? Should this be handled somewhere in the jQuery code? I've tried the jQuery.UI.datepicker plugin using $.datepicker.formatDate() wiuth no success.   • "Permission denied" with Internet Explorer and jQuery

    I try to do an AJAX call with jQuery and $.post in Internet Explorer, but all I get is an error saying "Permission denied". The problem is kinda weird since it occurs only when I access a page after I was on any other page. For instance I type the URL in the adress line and let IE load the page. Then I click on a button so the script should start loading JSON data. (The script providing the data lies on the same server and I access it with a relative URL, so using a different domain is not the problem here. Even tried to use a absolute URL with the same host part.) But when I refresh the page then and try it again it works! Same thing when I come to that page from another page. At first nothing works, but when I click "refresh" everything is fine. IE gives me the error message "Permission denied" while in every other browser I don't notice this behaviour. Since I have tried many things and still cannot imagine where the problem lies I'd like to ask you what you think the problem might be?

  • Using jQuery with form to eliminate spam

    I have put a form on a web page where the user can send us data. Unfortunately, the webmaster does get a lot of spam through this form and the valid submissions gets buried. I have used captcha to bypass this problem. But I think that everyone would agree that captcha is a big annoyance to users. I switched to another solution: now the URL of the submit form points to null: <form id="sendDataForm" action="/null" method="post"> ... </form> And I bypass the form submission using jQuery excellent form plugin: $('#sendDataForm').ajaxForm({ url: '/ajax-data/' }); Since then, no spam has reached the webmaster, and valid comments gets through. The only drawbacks is that users without javascript cannot send us the form. But since this is on top of a javascript web application, we can safely assume that these are not valid users. My question is: in a world where 99% of users has javascript enabled (and a mechanism for those user could be build that uses captcha), why is this solution not more used? What drawback am I not seeing?

  • Updating DIV with XML content on Hover (JQuery)

    Hi everyone! The concept of what I'm trying to do is fairly simple. I have a grid of company logos loaded through XSLT from an XML document, each with their own unique links to the company profiles. I have a separate div on the page, essentially a "preview" box. What I want to do is this: I roll over a logo, and it loads the name of the company and a short description into the preview div. This content is loaded through XML. I have been messing around with the Jquery load() function, changing the target document to load on Hover—and it almost gets what I want, but it loads the whole target XML document into the div. How can I separate this target XML data into separate divs? (which I have styled differently) I'd assume I would make use of Ajax in some way. I want to load the <name> node into the name_div, and the <desc> node into the description_div, and have them update on hover. Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Detect if Download is Complete

    I have a very simple and standard PHP force download script. How do I check if/when the download has completed in order to notify the user on the clientside? I don't even need to show the progress in real time, I am only interested in the very specific event: "when the download completes". Based on my research, it seems like it would have to be determined from the serverside as there is noondownloadready event and I don't think it is possible to intercept browser events. So it seems that my best bet would be to compare bytes sent to total bytes with some sort of clientside/severside interaction.   • JQuery 1.3.1 doesn't find dynamically generated rows

    I have just installed in the ASP.NET MVC RC2 and with that also using the JQuery 1.3.1 library. Before I was using the 1.2.6 library. Our application works fine under that library. But now I have strange problem. We have a grid view that we build up with the result of an AJAX call. With the result returned we add new rows to a table through cloning a hidden row. The generated HTML from the JQuery is placing extra parameters to the tags. These are in the form of JQuery12345678="null". They all have the same name. In the head of the table there is a checkbox that selects/unselects all the rows of the table. This by iterating through the rows of the table. $("#selectAllCheckbox").click(function() { var checked = this.checked; $("#dgNewTasks tbody tr").find(':input[type="checkbox"]').each(function() { this.checked = checked; }); }); Now by using the new library the check box are no longer set. I have used IE Developer Tools to check the HTML. If I remove the JQuery12345678="null" parameter from my rows. It works fine. Could someone tell me what I have to do?

  • Rails 2.3.4 and jquery form plugin works on development, not in production?

    Hello, i'm trying to build a contact form in Rails 2.3.4. I'm using the jQuery Form plugin along with this (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/) for validations. Everything works in my development environment (mac os x snow leopard), the loading gif appears and on my log the email gets sent and the "request completed" notice shows. But on my production machine the loading gif just keeps going and the form doesn't get sent. I've waited as long as I could, nothing. It has a nightmare of dependencies on Xerces and Xalan, both of which seem to be choking under the new VisualStudio 2010 C++ compiler. I've wasted hours trying to build this thing which is a shame. Does anyone have anything a little easier to hit the ground running with?

  • Common Mercator Projection formulas for Google Maps not working correctly

    I am building a Tile Overlay server for Google maps in C#, and have found a few different code examples for calculating Y from Latitude. After getting them to work in general, I started to notice certain cases where the overlays were not lining up properly. To test this, I made a test harness to compare Google Map's Mercator LatToY conversion against the formulas I found online. As you can see below, they do not match in certain cases. Case #1 Zoomed Out: The problem is most evident when zoomed out. Up close, the problem is barely visible. Case #2 Point Proximity to Top & Bottom of viewing bounds: The problem is worse in the middle of the viewing bounds, and gets better towards the edges. This behavior can negate the behavior of Case #1 The Test: I created a google maps page to display red lines using the Google Map API's built in Mercator conversion, and overlay this with an image using the reference code for doing Mercator conversion. These conversions are represented as black lines. Compare the difference. The Results: Check out the top-most and bottom-most lines: The problem gets visually larger but numerically smaller as you zoom in: And it all but disappears at closer zoom levels, regardless of screen orientation.     Alright, so what I need to try and accomplish is having a static web page that will display information pulled from an XML document and render it to the screen without refreshing. Basic AJAX stuff I guess. The trick is, as I'm trying to think this through I keep coming into 'logical' barriers mentally. Objectives: -Have a chart which displays baseball team names, wins, losses, ties. In my XML doc there is a 'pending' status, so games not completed should not be displayed.(Need help here) -Have a selection list which allows you to select a team which is populated from XML doc. (done) -Upon selecting a particular team from the aforementioned selection list the page should display in a separate area all of the planned games for that team. Including pending. Basically all of the games associated with that team and the dates (which is included in the XML file).     I have this jQuery ajax navigation tabs plugin that I created using some help from CSS-Tricks.com and the jQuery hashchange event plugin (detects hash changes in browsers that don't support it). The code is little long to post it here but it goes something like this: Part 1) When a tab is clicked, it gets the href attribute of that tab and add it to the browsers navigation bar like '#tab_name': window.location.hash = $(this).attr("href"); Part 2) When the navigation bar changes (hash change), it gets the href change like this: window.location.hash.substring(1); (substring is to get only 'tab_name' without the '#'), and then call the ajax function to get the info to display. I want to automatically trigger the plugin to load the first tab when the page is accessed, so at the start of the code I put: if (window.location.hash === '') { // If no '#' is in the browser navigation bar window.location.hash = '#tab_1'; // Add #tab_1 to the navigation bar $(window).trigger('hashchange'); // Trigger a hashchange so 'Part 2' of the plugin calls the ajax function using the '#tab_1' added } The probles is that it works in FF but not in Chrome, I mean, everything works but it seems like the $(window).trigger('hashchange'); is not working because it doesnt get the first tab.. Any suggestions??

  • Decoding AAC using MediaCodec API on Android

    I'm trying to used the MediaCodec API on Android to decode an AAC stream. (It's raw AAC.) I tried using the MediaFormat.createAudioFormat() to create the format object to pass to MediaCodec.configure(), but I kept getting errors when using AAC (audio/mp4a-latm). (It works with MP3 (audio/mpeg) though...) Finally I created a MediaExtractor for an AAC file and looked at the format object it was producing. I saw that it included the key "csd-0" for a ByteBuffer composed of two bytes both with the value 0x12. If I include that key and value in the format object that I used to configure the AAC codec, everything works. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? The documentation states that I shouldn't configure that key. Does anyone have a pointer to MediaCodec examples to decode AAC files without using MediaExtractor to generate the format object?

  • Telerik RadWindow does not fire ClientCallBackFunction after a ajax an __DoPostBack

    HI, I have a Telerik radwindow that allows our users to upload files. When the user first opens the radwindow and sees the upload fields, they can happily select a file and upload it. The window then returns the id of the uploaded file back to the parent page via the ClientCallBackFunction. This function then passes in the ID to a javascript function that calls __DoPostback so that we can populate the list of uploaded files. First time around it works a treat. However all subsequent times it fails to call ClientCallBackFunction unless i refresh the entire page. I also note that any other control on the parent page to uses an ajax postback also stops the ClientCallBackFunction begin called, even on the first time. any ideas? Thanks Richard

How can I hide my secret key? If this parameter is passed a value of null, the constructor looks for a special session secret stored in the fb_sig_ss property of the loaderInfo object. For web sessions, even if you pass a non-null value for this parameter, the constructor will always look for a session secret and use that instead of the value that you pass for this parameter.
