  I have a web client and a EJB project, which I created with Eclipse 3.4. When I want to deploy it on Jboss 5.0.1, I receive the error below. • SSRS 2008 and SSAS 2008 transport error

  I am testing an upgrade to SSAS 2008 and verifying existing reports working properly. I am able to get some SSRS reports that are using SSAS as a datasource to run without any issues. They are simple and only have a single dataset. The reports that I am unable to get to work correctly against SSAS 2008 have multiple datasets and have a fitler setup with a data range setup as a parameter. As soon as I setup that filter as a parameter and deploy them the report returns a "The connection either timed out or was lost. Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" message. The funny thing is that the report works fine when I run it locally in BIDS and it works fine once deployed if I point it to a SSAS 2005 server. Once I point it to the SSAS 2008 server it fails. I can get other reports to work fine, but not the ones with this type of a filter setup. I can see that the start and end date parameter MDX statements get run in the trace, but that is it. After those run then we receive the transport connection message. Another funny thing is that in the production environment the reports are working fine, but that has SSRS 2005 and SSAS 2008. Does this make sense? What could be causing this? I have tried setting the single transaction level on the datasource too, but that does not seem to make a difference.

• ExtJs - Set a fixed width in a center layout in a Panel

  Hi all, Using ExtJs. I'm trying to design a main which is divided into three sub panels (a tree list, a grid and a panel). The way it works is that you have a tree list (west) with elements, you click on an element which populates the grid (center), then you click on an element in the grid and that generates the panel (west). My main panel containing the three other ones has been defined with a layout 'border'. Now the problem I face is that the center layout (the grid) has been defined in the code with a fixed width and the west panel as an auto width. But when the interface gets generated, the grid width is suddenly taking all the space in the interface instead of the west panel.   I'm struggling to get my head around how to accommodate a mocked repository's method that only accepts a Linq expression as its argument. • "Instance variable 'xxx' accessed in class method....why?

  So please forgive me as I am very new to stackoverflow and to ios programming in general. I am attempting to change the text of a button i have, replacing current text with a date string (dateStringForInput) I am passing in from another class. • DataGridView row is still dirty after committing changes

  DataGridView.IsCurrentRowDirty remains true after I commit changes to the database. I want to set it to false so it doesn't trigger RowValidating when it loses focus. I have a DataGridView bound to a BindingList<T>. I handle the CellEndEdit event and save changes to the database. After saving those changes I would like DataGridView.IsCurrentRowDirty to be set to true, since all cells in the row are up-to-date; however, it's set to false. This causes problems for me because when the row does lose focus it will trigger RowValidating, which I handle and validate all three cells in. So even though all the cells are valid and none are dirty it will still validate them all. That's a waste. • How to add Spatial Solr to a Solrnet query

  Hi, I am running Solr on my windows machine using jetty. I have downloaded the Spatial Solr Plugin which I finally managed to get up and running. I am also using Solrnet to query against Solr from my asp.net mvc project. Now, adding data into my index seems to work fine and the SpatialTierUpdateProcessorFactory does work as well. The problem is: How do I add the spatial query to my normal query using the Solrnet library. I have tried adding it using the "ExtraParams" parameter but that didn't work very well. Here is an example of me trying to combine the spatial query with a data range query. The date range query works fine without the spatial query attached to it: new SolrQuery("{!spatial lat=51.5224 long=-2.6257 radius=10000 unit=km calc=arc threadCount=2}") && new SolrQuery(MyCustomQuery.Query) && new SolrQuery(DateRangeQuery); which results in the following query against Solr: (({!spatial lat=51.5224 long=-2.6257 radius=100 unit=km calc=arc threadCount=2} AND *:*) AND _date:[2010-05-07T13:13:37Z TO 2011-05-07T13:13:37Z]) And the error message I get back is: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request. • jQuery.ajax call to Twitter succeeds but returns null for Firefox

  I've got code that makes a simple get request to Twitter (search) using jQuery's ajax method. The code works fine on Safari, but fails on Firefox (3.6.3). In the Firefox case, my jQuery.ajax parameters 'success' method is invoked, but the supplied data is null. (In Safari, I receive a boatload of JSON data). • TWAIN scanning components for Delphi.

  I need to add TWAIN scanning to an Delphi application and am having trouble locating an off-the-shelf component to do so. I downloaded TDelphiTwain but, when used in D2010 on Windows Vista, it does not appear to recognize any Twain sources on my system. I also tried the trial version of Twain Toolkit for Delphi from MCM which has the advantage of being currently updated (DelphiTwain's last update was 2004), but the Twain Toolkit will not even compile on my system (I think some of the DCUs are out of date). Can anyone suggest a simple method of getting TWAIN scanning into my Delphi application? UPDATE: Using vcldeveloper's update to DelphiTwain (see below) I was able to get this working. Also, I also discovered that Envision Image Library supports Twain scanning as well as assisting in handling multi-page TIFFs, and has been updated for compatibility with D2010. Late Breaking UPDATE VCLDeveloper's code, below, works fine. However, I settled on Envision library which includes the ability to easily create multi-page TIFF files. I got the Envision scanning, including multi-page file handling, implemented in a few hours.

• NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest: fails when using POST

  I'm using a custom NSURLCache to intercept calls for certain web pages in order to modify them dynamically. Inside cachedResponseForRequest: I modify the request, then send it out using sendSynchronousRequest. This works very well until you attempt to submit a form. If there is post data it fails. If i remove the HTTPBody and set the request to GET, it succeeds. But i need it to work with POST. If i send the request asynchronously it also works which is why i can't figure out why the synchronous request fails.   I'm parsing an RSS feed with NSXMLParser and it's working fine for the title and other strings but one of the elements is an image thats like <!CDATA <a href="http:image..etc> How do I add that as my cell image in my table view? Would I define that as an image type? • WPF DatePicker IsEnabled property not changing appearance

  I think I have found an issue with the DatePicker in the toolkit, perhaps some of you gurus can check it out. The issue is when setting the IsEnabled property of the DatePicker. If set in XAML, it stays grey even if you set the IsEnabled to true at run time. The same goes for the other way around should it start off being enabled. What I'm finding is that when I use Google's Webmaster Tools to fetch my site (to see what a GoogleBot sees) it sees this. However, (this might be caused by the virtualization of the unit though), the result is really slow. Scrolling the list takes forever and you can only scroll small peaces of the time. How can I make the list work like the one in the contacts-app? So that when you start scrolling a handle pops out at the right side of the screen, and when you drag it letters shows up as of how far you've scrolled (the list is sorted alphabetically), and also, is there a way I could improve the performance of the list?

• Workflow for academic research projects, one-step builds, and the Joel Test

  Working alone on academic research sometimes breeds bad habits. With no one else reading my code, I would write a lot of throw-away code, and I would lose track of intermediate results which, weeks or months later, I wish I had retained. My recent attempts to make my personal workflow conform to the Joel Test raised interesting questions. Academic research has inherently different goals than industrial software development, and therefore some aspects of the Joel Test become less valid. Nevertheless, I find these steps to be still valuable for academic research: Do you use source control? Can you make a build in one step? Do you have an up-to-date schedule? Do you have a spec? Of particular use is the one-step build. I find myself more organized now that I have implemented the following "one-step build": In other words, I have a single script, build.py, that accepts Python code, data, and TeX as inputs. The outputs are results, figures, and a paper with all the results filled in. (Yes, I know "build" is probably not accurate in this context, but you get the idea.) By consolidating many small steps into one, I am not backtracking as much as I used to. ...but I'm sure there is still room for improvement. Question: For research projects, which steps of the Joel Test do you still value? Do you have a one-step build? If so, what does yours consist of, i.e., what inputs does it accept, and what output does it generate?

• fmod VS2008 unresolved externals in dependant project

  Im currently trying to use the latest stable fmod ex in my project. I have a main executable in a project called engine4, and a project named DX9Platform in the solution as well which ti depends on. All the fmod code is in this DX9Platform project, which generates a lib file. DX9Platform includes fmodex_vc.lib and builds fine. However buildign Engien4 results in unresolved external symbol messages referencing files that use fmod in the DX9Platform project I have tried adding fmodex_vc.lib to the Engine4 project, with no success, how do I fix this? • Client WCF DataContract has empty/null values from service

  I have a simple WCF service that returns the time from the server. I've confirmed that data is being sent by checking with Fiddler. It's receiving requests and returning results. But on my silverlight client, all the members of the returned object are either null, blank or a default vaule. As you can see the server returns the current date and time. But in silverlight, theTime property on my object is set to 1/1/0001 12:00 AM (default value). Sooo methinks that the DataContracts do not match up between the server and the silverlight client. Here's the DataContract for the server [DataContract] public class Time { [DataMember] public DateTime theTime { get; set; } } Incredibly simple. And here's the datacontract on my silverlight client. [DataContract] public class Time { [DataMember] public DateTime theTime { get; set; } } Literally the only difference is the namespaces within the application. • SQL MIN in Sub query causes huge delay

  I have a SQL query that I'm trying to debug. It works fine for small sets of data, but in large sets of data, this particular part of it causes it to take 45-50 seconds instead of being sub second in speed. This subquery is one of the select items in a larger query. I'm basically trying to figure out when the earliest work date is that fits in the same category as the current row we are looking at (from table dr) ISNULL(CONVERT(varchar(25),(SELECT MIN(drsd.DateWorked) FROM [TableName] drsd WHERE drsd.UserID = dr.UserID AND drsd.Val1 = dr.Val1 OR (((drsd.Val2 = dr.Val2 AND LEN(dr.Val2) > 0) AND (drsd.Val3 = dr.Val3 AND LEN(dr.Val3) > 0) AND (drsd.Val4 = dr.Val4 AND LEN(dr.Val4) > 0)) OR (drsd.Val5 = dr.Val5 AND LEN(dr.Val5) > 0) OR ((drsd.Val6 = dr.Val6 AND LEN(dr.Val6) > 0) AND (drsd.Val7 = dr.Val7 AND LEN(dr.Val2) > 0))))), '') AS WorkStartDate, This winds up executing a key lookup some 18 million times on a table that has 346,000 records. I've tried creating an index on it, but haven't had any success. Also, selecting a max value in this same query is sub second in time, as it doesn't have to execute very many times at all.   I'm using linq to SQL and MVC2 with data annotations and I'm having some problems on validation of some types. I have the same problem with a DateTime, which i want the users to write in the specific form 'dd/MM/yyyy' and i have a regex for that. but again, by the time the data-annotations do their job, all i get is a DateTime Object, and not the original string. So if the input is not a date, the regex does not even run, cos the data annotations just get a null, cos the model binder couldn't make it to a DateTime. Does anyone have an idea how to make this work?

• Cannot access updated Java object from Saxon XSLT processor

  I am working with an open source version of the Saxon XSLT processor "Saxon 9.0.0.2J from Saxonica" and am trying to make use of the java extensibility for the first time. I am running into an issue I suspect may be a limitation on the open source version, but wanted to check first whether there might be something I am just missing here. From the snippet below, my result is that the final value of $c1 does not change as a result of the call to greg:setTime() - i.e. the $c1 variable within Saxon appears to be unhooked from the underlying Java object and there is no apparent way to access the object as updated by the setTime() call. NOTE that all code in the snippet is tested and working otherwise - i.e. $c1 is properly instantiated by the getInstance() call, $startdate is of the proper format and $d1 is properly instantiated.
