how to prevent MPMoviePlayer controls from hiding

I am trying to implement a custom MPMoviePlayer to play mp3 audio. I have got it working in portrait mode along with an overlay window over the native controls - thanks to other stackoverflow posts. The current issue is the song progress control shows up when the media window opens (blue bar taking up the first 40 odd pixels), but seems to disappear when the song starts leaving a white bar. It will then re-appear when touching the area, so functionally works fine. I would like to find a way to ensure the controls always stay visible but have not found an appropriate property in the reference. Ideally I would like to have my custom control to replace the default, more because I would like to change the position that the look and feel. This being said, I understand it is not possible as the current position in the song from a MPMoviePlayer cannot be accessed.

I'm having trouble submitting apps on Apple's app store. I was using a beta version of xcode- 3.2.3/iphone sdk 4.0- and I assumed that if I set the base sdk and deployment target to an acceptable version it would work, but it didn't. I deleted the beta version of xcode/sdk using "sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all" and did a fresh install of the old release version- xcode 3.2.2/iphone sdk 3.2- but I still have the same problem. Has anyone run into this before? Is there something left over from the beta version that could still be hanging around causing problems?

Rails - MS-SQL Server problems (unixODBC, FreeTDS) on Mac 10.6

Followed the instructions on the Rails wiki and have had success connecting to SQL Server 2000 with TSQL -- both with DSN-less and DNS connections. I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.3. Wiki instructions here. Installed ruby-odbc, dbi (0.4.0), dbd-odbc (2.4.5), activerecord-sqlserver-adapter (2.3.5). In my database.yml (Rails 2.3.6): development: adapter: sqlserver mode: ODBC dsn: 'DRIVER=/usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so;TDS_Version=8.0;SERVER=mssql01.discountasp.net;DATABASE=DB_164368_dmusd;Port=1433;uid=DB_164368_dmusd_user;pwd=Schools77;' This yields the following error: ODBC::Error: S1090 (0) [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Invalid string or buffer length When I attempt to use a DSN connection, I get the following error: ODBC::Error: IM002 (0) [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified I have in fact verified that the FreeTDS driver (libtdsodbc.so) is installed and the path correct. COM Add-in for Excel doesn't load when Excel is launched by opening file

Several users have reported that if they launch Excel by double-clicking an Excel file, the add-in will not load. But, if they open Excel via the Start menu (or Quick launch toolbar) the add-in loads fine. Some details, in case they help: It is a COM add-in, written in VB6. The problem has been reported on Windows XP/Excel 2003 and Vista/Excel 2007 systems. The add-in implements IDTExtensibility2. The start mode is set to "Load on Startup". Any thoughts on the cause or how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated.

Ubuntu/Windows suddenly freezes

I've a strange problem with my ubuntu 10.04 installation. Whenever i boot into ubuntu the entire system freezes / hangs soon after (~ 2 mins in). This problem exists on my windows 7 installation too. However if i start World of Warcraft or Warcraft on windows it doesnt hang for the duration i'm playing the game. After i stop playing and exit the game my laptop hangs inside 2 mins. Here is when it gets weirder. If i disconnect the charger, the laptop doesn't hang. However when I start it in ubuntu recovery mode and drop to root shell and use the 'startx' command everything works perfectly. changing selenium domain/subdomain within cucumber scenarios

So, I have a Rails webapp that utilizes subdomains for separating the admin functionality from the public functionality using subdomain-fu. So there is functionality(that I want to test!) contained within two urls(eg admin.example.com and www.example.com). I want some scenarios to run against the admin domain, and some against the www domain. My problem is that I cant figure out how to change the domain that selenium uses at any time after startup. I can put something like this in my env.rb: Webrat.configure do |config| config.mode = :selenium config.application_address = "admin.example.com" end And it will work, but only for the scenarios that need the admin domain. If I try something like: host! "www.example.com" inside my steps, well it seems to just be ignored by selenium, which goes on using "admin.example.com" Any ideas? Or if its not possible, any ideas for a workaround?

Is Visual Studio 2010 WebDev WebServer (Cassini) 64-bit compatible?

I'm now developing on Visual Studio 2008 on a 64-bit OS (Windows Server 2008 64-bit). While the apps I write are 64-bit capable, as is IIS7, the built-in ASP.NET Development Server (aka Cassini aka WebDev.Webserver.exe) runs as 32-bit. This brings up a plethora of issues, such as: 32-bit and 64-bit applications have separate HKLM\Software registry homes There are 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the SQL Server Client Network Utility Other fun surprises I haven't discovered but I'm sure will spring up While I am finding workarounds for most of this, I have to ask... Does anyone who has played with the Visual Studio 2010 preview bits on 64-bit architecture know if the development web servers can handle 64-bit, and if so, are there options for which mode to run it in? (Like a checkbox in the project properties, for instance)

How to set viewport meta for iPhone that handles rotation properly?

So I've been using: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0;"/> to get my HTML content to display nicely on the iPhone. It works great until the user rotates the device into landscape mode, where the display remains constrained to 320px. Is there a simple way to specify a viewport that changes in response to the user changing the device orientation? Or must I resort to Javascript to handle that?

Having trouble getting the correct bounds for my iPad application when launching it in landscape mode. I have the proper keys set in my Info.plist file, and my view controllers launch properly in landscape (and portrait, natch). In my applicationDidFinishLaunching: method I'm calling a selector after a 3 second delay, and that method makes a call to [[UIScreen applicationFrame]`, but it's returning me a portrait frame (ie height width). Does anyone know how to fix this? It smells like a bug to me (if so I'll file a radar), but if it's intended behaviour, where is it documented?

In my case, I set PIN RC6 of a PIC18F26K20 in INPUT mode: TRISCbits.TRISC6 = 1; Then I read the value with PORT and LATCH and I have different value! v1 = LATCbits.LATC6; v2 = PORTCbits.RC6; v1 gives me 0 where v2 gives 1. Is it normal? In which case we have to use PORT and in which case LATCH?

Flex ProgressBar component problem

I am trying to use the ProgressBar Flex component inside a custom Actionscript 3.0 component derived from the UIComponent class. I have set the minimum and maximum values etc. _progressBar = new ProgressBar(); _progressBar.label = "Loading"; _progressBar.minimum = 0; _progressBar.maximum = 100; _progressBar.direction = ProgressBarDirection.RIGHT; _progressBar.mode = ProgressBarMode.MANUAL; The component shows the "Loading" text but not the loading bar. Anything like _progressBar.setProgress(20, 100) does not have any effect on the code. Any ideas why this is not working?

CYGWin and sshd. Accepts authentication, but won't connect

Eclipse: What is the minimum Eclipse installation needed for a headless PDE build?

Hi, I am currently using PDE build in headless mode to build my OSGI Bundle project. The PDE Antrunner task uses an Eclipse installation and I am just pointing it to my local Eclipse installation. unfortunatelly my eclipse installation is about 260MB big, but I assume that a PDE build does NOT require all of those plugins in a standard eclipse installation. Does anyone now what is the minimum list of plugins I need for doing a headless PDE build? All of my dependencies I actually have in a custom target platform folder, so I guess the only thing I need from my eclipse installation are the dependencies which PDE build actually needs. But what are those? Can I shrink my installation to a very minimum? My goal is to also check-in this "build-eclipse" folder into my project's SVN so that when you check it out, you have everything you need to start a full build, without touching any build.properties. But I don't want to commit 266MB of eclipse if I maybe need only 20MB of it. Thanks Christoph

Hello: I am designing a report that will be used in local mode (an RDLC file) in a Winform app. I have a custom assembly with a static class that has some functions that I want to use inside of the report (as expressions). I have found all sorts of help for doing this with RDL reports, but I'm running into a permissions problem with my RDLC report. I get the following error at runtime: "The report references the code module (my module), which is not a trusted assembly". I know that this is some kind of a code security issue, but I'm not sure what to do to fix it. The documentation that I have seen online is aimed at RDL reports, and it instructs me to edit a SQL Server-specific policy file. I'm using RDLC, so there is no sql server involved. What do I need to do to acquire the appropriate permissions?

I have a very long running syncronization task that cannot be interrupted by the screen saver or aggressive power saving modes. I want to make a single api call to stop power save mode and then restore it once the task is done. I already added the <sessionState> tag in my web.config file like this <sessionState mode="InProc" cookieless="false" timeout="20"> </sessionState> I get a session ID in my url like this if I use cookieless="true" http://localhost:2967/%28S%28hcawmi55zoruuy453fbo3k55%29%29/RmdReqBankAccount But I still can't use session variables in my application. I set the variable like this in my login method: Session["username"] = userName; and I retrieve it like this string user_id = (string)Session["username"]; I get an empty string when trying to retrieve values.

I have an error in my GXT code on Internet Explorer (both Development Mode and not) when i try to attach a label to a panel. The error is "Unknown runtime error number: -2146827687" but this error in a GWT module is throws always, in other gwt modules with a label attached to the panel the error there isn't. The layout of panel is a GridFormLayout developed by me. Hi, I'm trying to follow Marcus Zarra in his book 'Core Data'. In the book, he makes a small sample application, but it doesn't give much help when things don't work out... He starts out by visually designing three entities, and then adding array controllers for each entity to the main nib. Second, he adds a tableview and some other visual components to show data from the array controllers. So far, I have managed to follow, but now he adds a search field to the gui, and binds it to the same array controller as one of the tableviews. Expected behavior would be for the tableview to get filtered when typing in the search field, but nothing happens. How do I find out what's wrong? Trying to run WCF web service on non-domain VM, Security Errors

Am I in a Catch-22 situation here? My goal is to take a WCF service that I inherited, and run it on a VM and test it by calling it from my desktop PC. The VM is in a workgroup, and not in the company's domain. Basically, we need more test environments, ideally one per developer (we may have 2 to 4 people that need this). Thus the idea of the VM was that each developer could have his own web server that somewhat matches or real environment (where we actually have two websites, an external/exposed and internal). [Using VS2010 .NET 4.0] In the internal service, each method was decorated with this attribute: [OperationBehavior(Impersonation = ImpersonationOption.Required)] I'm still researching why this was needed. I think it's because a webapp calls the "internal" service, and either a) we need the credentials of the user, or b) we may doing some PrinciplePermission.Demands to see if the user is in a group. My interest is creating some ConsoleTest programs or UnitTest programs. I changed to allowed like this: [OperationBehavior(Impersonation = ImpersonationOption.Allowed)] because I was getting this error in trying to view the .svc in the browser: The contract operation 'EditAccountFamily' requires Windows identity for automatic impersonation. A Windows identity that represents the caller is not provided by binding ('WSHttpBinding','http://tempuri.org/') for contract ('IAdminService','http://tempuri.org/'. I don't get that error with the original bindings look like this: However, I believe I need to turn off this security since the web service is not on the domain. I tend to get these errors in the client: 1) The request for security token could not be satisfied because authentication failed - as an InnerException of "SecurityNegotiation was unhandled". or 2) The caller was not authenticated by the service as an InnerException of "SecurityNegotiation was unhandled". So can I create some configuration of code and web.config that will allow each developer to work on his own VM? Or must I join the VM to the domain? The number of permutations seems near endless. I've started to create a Word.doc that says what to do with each error, but now I'm in the catch-22 where I'm stuck. I've seen this question and this article on how to debug a native Java crash. The article is with respect to Windows. What are the equivalent debugging aids on Linux? Note: All I have is this crash log from a user in the field. I do not have access to the machine on which the crash occurred. Update: I am pretty sure the crash is due to JNI code we have. I never meant to imply that it was the JVM itself that was faulty. Apache taking up too much CPU

I'm trying to manage a server on Amazon for a network of sites that receives about 100 million pageviews per month. Unfortunately, nobody out of my team of 5 developers has much server admin experience. Right now we have the MaxClients set to 1400. Currently our traffic is about average, and we have 1150 total Apache processes running, which use about 2% CPU each! Out of those 1150, 800 of them are currently sleeping, but still taking up CPU. I'm sure there are ways to optimize this. I have a few thoughts: It appears Apache is creating a new process for every single connection. Is this normal? Is there a way to more quickly kill the sleeping processes? Should we turn KeepAlive on? Each page loads about 15-20 medium-sized graphics and a lot of javascript/css. So, here's our Apache setup. We do plan on contracting a server admin asap, but I would really appreciate some advice until we can find someone. PowerPoint record slide show function accessible through Interop with C#

I am currently trying to write an addin for PowerPoint that whenever any PowerPoint document is opened and then run in show mode that the feature to record narration audio and slide timings is automatically activated. However I cannot seem to find that option in the PowerPoint interop object The manual in application way to use this feature in Powerpoint 2007 is under the "Slide Show" tab of the ribbon called "Record Narration". I have found under that I can set under Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.SlideShowSettings.AdvancedSettings to RehearseNewTimings but this does not record narration audio. Does anyone know if this is even possible? Or if I am completely on the wrong track here. Thanks in advance for any repsonse

ASP Login page for ASP.NET Application

Hi All, In my work place, we have several classic ASP and ASP.NET application. All these application though doing different works are integrated through a single sign on mode, which is handled by one main application. The main application is in classic ASP and verifies the userid and password initially and then stores the UserID in a session variable, which is then used by all other ASP and ASP.NET page as a valid Authenticated user. (For DOT NET pages we use session bridging) Is this how authentication is done is classic ASP? (I dont know classic ASP much) From the time I was introduced to this setup, I started to worry whether this setup is flawless? Is there any better way to handle the same ? Will it be possible to authenticate for both classic asp and DOT NET in the same login page? Thanks in advance for you answer Raja
