  • Need serious assembly help

    I have been trying to learn assembly for a few years now. I get to do a "Hello, World" program but never further. I find it so hard.     I'm trying to develop an application similar to ASTassistant, and in the article the author says that he included "the source code with the binaries." After downloading the ZIP folder, however, I've found no source. The program is written in REAL Basic, which I don't know anything about. Do I need to purchase REAL Basic to view ASTassistant's source code, or is it somewhere I haven't looked? Thanks

    Hello For an embedded system with internet (which works under a set-top box) I want to develop a primitive Facebook interface where users can type their user-names and password, showing their latest notificationsa, messages and other casual stuff via the recent Facebook Graph API. This middleware program uses Java ME to run programs (such as this simple facebook app) and it can connect to internet however it doesn't have a real web browser. Why when I try to create a new mysqli object in php with invalid database infomation (say an incorrect database name) does it not return an error intstantly? I usually program server stuff in Java and something like this would throw back an error strait away, not after 20 seconds or so.   • What color to use in owner-draw Windows List Control background?

    I have an owner-drawn list control in my Windows program. I use CListCtrl::GetBkColor to get the background color, and for a selected item I use GetSysColor(COLOR_HIGHLIGHT). This matches what Windows uses for non owner drawn list controls, except for the case where the control doesn't have focus - then the background is replaced with gray. Does Windows use one of the GetSysColor constants for the selected but unfocused background? If so, which one?
