  On the subject of associating your iPhone app with file types. In this informative question I learned that apps could be associated with custom URL protocols. That was almost one year ago and since then Apple introduced 'Document Support' which goes a step further and allows apps to associate with file types. There is a lot of talk in the documentation about how to set up your app to launch other appropriate apps when it encounters an unknown file type. This means the association doesn't work out of the box for any app, like the URL protocol registering did. This leads me to the question: have system apps like Safari or Mail implemented this system for choosing associated applications, or will they do nothing, as before?

• Android: Haptic feedback: onClick() event vs hapticFeedbackEnabled in the view

  If you want a button to provide haptic feedback (ie, the phone vibrates very briefly so you can feel that you really pushed the button), what's the standard way to do that? It seems you can either explicitly set an onClick() event and call the vibrate() function, giving a number of milliseconds to vibrate, or you can set hapticFeedbackEnabled in the view. The documentation seems to indicate that the latter only works for long-presses or virtual on-screen keys: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/View.html#performHapticFeedback(int) If that's right, then I need to either make my button a virtual on-screen key or manually set the onClick() event. What do you recommend? Also, if I want the vibrating to happen immediately when the user's finger touches the button, as opposed to when their finger "releases" the button, what's the best way to accomplish that? • Objective-C NSMutableArray Count Causes EXC_BAD_ACCESS

  I've been stuck on this for days and each time I come back to it I keep making my code more and more confusing to myself, lol. Here's what I'm trying to do. I have table list of charges, I tap on one and brings up a model view with charge details. Now when the model is presented a object is created to fetch a XML list of users and parses it and returns a NSMutableArray via a custom delegate. I then have a button that presents a picker popover, when the popover view is called the user array is used in an initWithArray call to the popover view. I know the data in the array is right, but when [pickerUsers count] is called I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I assume it's a memory/ownership issue but nothing seems to help. Any help would be appreciated.   I can't seem to find any documentation or code samples on how to add a hyperlink to a cell in Excel 2007 using the open xml sdk 2.0. I am using the following code, but is there a step I am missing?   While converting a project that used SlimDX, and therefore has unmanaged code, to .NET 4.0 I ran into the following error: Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information. Googling around gave me the solution, which is to add this to the applications config: <configuration> <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> </startup> </configuration> My question is, what is the useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy doing? I can't find any documentation about it.

  Trying to use use SharpSVN in an ASP.NET app. So far, it's been nothing but trouble. First, I kept getting permission errors on "lock" files (that don't exist), even though NETWORK SERVICE has full permissions on the directories. Finally in frustration I just granted Everyone full control. • iPhone - How do you make a resizable rectangle for cropping images?

  Hi everyone, I'm having a trouble making a re-sizable rectangle for cropping my images. I'm trying to achieve something like this picture: http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/8930/customcropbox.jpg Well, the only problem is I have no clue where to actually start. I need some advice to how I can achieve this effect of cropping. What documentation should I read up on? Core Graphics or Quartz 2d? Both? I've been coding for the iPhone since it's release date but I've never actually used core graphics and etc. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. I'll throw my code up here as I progress to show how it's done when I achieve it. :-) Also, this rectangular box is moveable across the screen in a UIImageView which just makes it more interesting. • Validate signature on EXE with CertGetCertificateChain

  I would like to verify a signed executable. The requirement is to validate that the executable itself is valid and where it came from (probably from the subject of the cert). The cert type is PKCS. I found a similar posting here, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/301024/validate-authenticode-signature-on-exe-c-without-capicom The Microsoft documentation, among others, appears to point to CertGetCertificateChain, but the examples tend to work with certificates that are in a store. Does anyone know how to validate a signed executable using CertGetCertificateChain and related API's?

Connection seems to be established successfully but I am getting the following error: CWWSS7200E: Unable to create AxisService from ServiceEndpointAddress [address] Rings any bell? I am guessing the request format is somehow being rejected by the service, I am sniffing it with fiddler and it looks fine overall (can post if ppl think it could help). Found this article, but it doesn't seem to apply to my case. Any help appreciated!

• Workspace.PendEdit not checking out files

  I'm using the TFS 2010 SDK to programmatically check in edits to files into TFS 2010. The documentation on the TFS 2010 SDK is sparse at best. When I call the method workspace.pendedit() passing in an array of files I want to mark as having a pending edit, nothing is actually checked out. So when I call workspace.checkin() passing in workspace.getpendingchanges and some comments I get an exception that there must be at least one thing that has a pending change (which should be what I passed into pendedit). Any thoughts on why the app isn't marking the files as having a pending edit in the workspace?

  Okay I'm trying to add comments and reactions count just like what you would normally see on some wordpress blogs like http://johntwang.com/blog/ where on the left top of each post there is ** comment and * reactions* My problem is I can't find the disqus's documentation, where hopefully there is some method I can call to return me the number of reactions and comments. Also if I use the wordpress default method <?php comments_popup_link ('zero','one','more','CSSclass','none');?> it only displays "Comments" not even the comment's number count on the main page. How can I add reaction and comment count with disqus plugin ? edit: well my site is http://www.windows7hacker.com/ I don't know how I suppose to add comments count at first place. But right now if I use the wordpress method, it will return me only comments, which is exactlly one of the problem they have described in their help page I've tired to check the comment count option still doesn't work :(

  Require urgent help!:( i m developing a game and i m dealing with around 20 images at the same time. As per my knowledge, i m allocating and deallocating the images at right places. Game runs for around 15 min fine but quits with an error message: "Program received signal: “0”. warning: check_safe_call: could not restore current frame" i also tried debugging with memory leak tools provided in Xcode but could not find any issue with memory management or any increase in memory size on simulator it works fine but not on the device. i m confused wht can be the issue. • Display custom title bar for Android with XML

  In Android documentation describing "Configuring General Window Properties", it is suggested that specifying properties via XML is preferable whenever possible to avoid seeing the title bar flash. As an example, instead of setting Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE with requestWindowFeature, they set it to @android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar. Is there a similar way to set a custom title bar to be used in the XML? Update: I just found this article, according to which this article, the best way to draw a title bar is to ignore FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE and instead just draw the title bar as part of your main view. This would not only avoid the flashing, but also problems caused by padding.

• Best way to integrate StyleCop with TFS CI

  I've been doing research on how to enable source analysis for the project I'm working on and plan to use StyleCop. The setup I have is a TFS Server for source control, using TFS Continuous Integration. I want to enable source analysis for CI builds and daily builds run on the build machine, and not only for those run on developers' machines. It basically modifies the csproj file for the purpose. • Need explanation for this boost::asio timer example

  There is a line in the 3rd tutorial on Boost asio that shows how to renew a timer and yet prevent there from being drift. The line is the following: t->expires_at(t->expires_at() + boost::posix_time::seconds(1)); Maybe it's me but I wasn't able to find documentation on the 2nd usage of expires_at(), with no parameters. expires_at(x) sets the new expiration, cancelling any pending completion handlers. So presumably expires_at() does what, return time of the last expiry? So by adding one second, if there should be some number of ms, say n ms, then it will in essence be "subtracted" from the next expiry since the time is being accounted for? What happens then if the time it takes to perform this handler is greater than 1 second in this example? Does it fire immediately?

Possible values: left, center, right. Note that it says "not in the header cell". How can I do this for the header cell (grid title cell)? The documentation fails to mention this little detail....

  I need to convert a SQL Server DATETIME value to FILETIME in a T-SQL SELECT statement (on SQL Server 2000). Is there a built-in function to do this? If not, can someone help me figure out how to implement this conversion routine as a UDF (or just plain Transact-SQL)? Here is what I know: FILETIME is 64-bit value representing the number of 100-nanosecond intervals since January 1, 1601 (UTC) (per MSDN: FILETIME Structure). SQL Server time era starts on 1900-01-01 00:00:00 (per SELECT CAST(0 as DATETIME). I found several examples showing how to convert FILETIME values to T-SQL DATETIME (I'm not 100% sure they are accurate, though), but could not find anything about reverse conversion. Even the general idea (or algorithm) would help.

• Windows Vista/Win7 Privilege Problem: SeDebugPrivilege & OpenProcess

  Everything I've been able to find about escalating to the appropriate privileges for my needs has agreed with my current methods, but the problem exists. I'm hoping maybe someone has some Windows Vista/Win7 internals experience that might shine some light where there is only darkness. I'm sure this will get long, but please bare with me. Context: I'm working on an app that requires accessing the memory of other processes on the current machine. This, obviously, requires administrator rights. It also requires SeDebugPrivilege, which I believe myself to be acquiring correctly, although I question if more privileges aren't necessary and thus the cause of my problems. Code has so far worked successfully on all versions of Windows XP, and on my test Vista32 and Win7x64 environments. Process: Program will Always be run with Administrator Rights. This can be assumed throughout this post. Escalating the current process's Access Token to include SeDebugPrivilege rights. Using EnumProcesses to create a list of current PIDs on the system Opening a handle using OpenProcess with PROCESS_ALL_ACCESS access rights Using ReadProcessMemory to read the memory of the other process. Problem: Everything has been working fine during development and my personal testing (including Windows XP 32 & 64, Windows Vista 32, and Windows 7 x64). However, during a test deployment onto both Windows Vista(32-bit) and Windows 7(64-bit) machines of a colleague, there seems to be a privilege/rights problem with OpenProcess failing with a generic Access Denied error. This occurs both when running as a limited User (as would be expected) and also when run explicitly as Administrator (Right-click Run as Administrator and when run from an Administrator level command prompt). However, this problem has been unreproducible for myself in my test environment. I have witnessed the problem first hand, so I trust that the problem exists. The only difference that I can discern between the actual environment and my test environment is that the actual error is occurring when using a Domain Administrator account at the UAC prompt, whereas my tests (which work with no errors) use a local administrator account at the UAC prompt. It appears that although the credentials being used allow UAC to 'run as administrator', the process is still not obtaining the correct rights to be able to OpenProcess on another process. I am not familiar enough with the internals of Vista/Win7 to know what this might be, and I am hoping someone has an idea of what could be the cause. The Kicker: The person who has reported this error, and who's environment can regularly reproduce this bug, has a small application named along the lines of RunWithDebugEnabled which is a small bootstrap program which appears to escalate its own privileges and then launch the executable passed to it (thus inheriting the escalated privileges). When run with this program, using the same Domain Administrator credentials at UAC prompt, the program works correctly and is able to successfully call OpenProcess and operates as intended. So this is definitely a problem with acquiring the correct privileges, and it is known that the Domain Administrator account is an administrator account that should be able to access the correct rights. (Obviously obtaining this source code would be great, but I wouldn't be here if that were possible). Notes: As noted, the errors reported by the failed OpenProcess attempts are Access Denied. According to MSDN documentation of OpenProcess: If the caller has enabled the SeDebugPrivilege privilege, the requested access is granted regardless of the contents of the security descriptor.   Am a new starter with WAMP and trying to play around my way using the EasyPHP setup. After successful setup on intial launch of MySQL, the page prompted me to set up ROOT password for security reasons. On setting the password, am no longer able to access MySQL. The error is : Error MySQL said: Documentation 1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) Looked up on the net and tried the following options in the config.inc.php from the phpmyadmin foler: 1] Set the authetication to "http" so that it prompts to enter the username and password /* Authentication type */ $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'http'; 2] Set up the correct password in the config file $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'myPwd'; None of them worked. Can anyone suggest a workaround to access MySQL? Am not fussed about not being able to use the root account but would like to CRUD on the database using other username. Thanks in advance.
