  • iPhone SDK - How is data shared in a unversal app

    Stack overflow I want to make a universal version of my app available, but I am wondering how is data managed between the iPad and the iPhone versions? -Are they completely independent? or if I have a plist in the iPad app, does it also appear in the iPhone app. If so, is there any syncing etc etc. I have a few months experience with single iPad or iPhone apps, but never a universal.   • Good ways to map a 2D side shooter (somewhat like liero, or soldat)

    I'm wondering what way would be best to render a 2D map for a shooter (these will be static maps) similar to Soldat. Multiple options I've considered are a tile based map (stored in txt files), or just creating different classes for the different terrains I plan to use and creating a data structure to read/store them in a file. (I want to also be able to include things like jumping/running on walls, sliding down walls/slopes ect) I feel like there must be a better way than either of these, but haven't been able to find definitive information :/ Thanks :)

  • Closing a window when it's "no longer needed".

    This is kind of a hard question to describe, and I've searched for about an hour now to no avail. Essentially, picture a small 'flyout' window like the Windows 7 Wireless Control or the Volume Slider from the system tray(notification area). When you click on the icon, the application pops up with focus, and if you click off of it, the window destroys itself. I thought it woudl be easily solved by simply having my window destroy it self when it loses focus (I've been listening for WM_KILLFOCUS), but the problem is, if the icon is clicked, my window does not always get focus. Since this isn't the case, if the user clicks my icon, and then clicks away because it was a mistake (on the desktop say), then how can I set my app to close? I've tried messing with SPY++ but checking the volume control / wireless control apps are proving difficult as they disappear when I try to get their window/process handles. Thanks!

  • Automatic Data sorting/ analysis in Excel

    I have data in the form of four columns. The first three columns represent time, value1, value 2. The fourth column is binary, all 0's or 1's. Is there a way to tell excel to delete time, value1 and value 2, when the corresponding binary value in column four is 0? I know this is a lot easier in C++ or matlab, but for reasons beyond my control, I must do it in excel.

  • Handling of data truncation in FUSE

    I expect any good program should do all their reads and writes in a loop until all data written/read without relying that write will write everything (even with regular files). Am I right? Implemented simple FUSE filesystem which only allows reading and writing with small buffers, very often returning that it is written less bytes that in a buffer (using -o direct_io). Some programs work, some not. Are them buggy or programs should not expect truncated writes and reads from the regular files?

The sensor value is going to be plotted as a function of the time (sensor value on the y-axis, time on the x-axis). I want to be able to add new values to the plot in real time. They will be in the same network but not in the same domain, both windows server 2008 and the database server is sql server 2008. My question being, what is the best way to secure data in transport between the servers? I've looked into IPSEC and SSL but not sure how to go about implementing either.

    Hi, I have got a small program that prints the contents of files using the system call - read. unsigned char buffer[8]; size_t offset=0; size_t bytes_read; int i; int fd = open(argv[1], O_RDONLY); do{ bytes_read = read(fd, buffer, sizeof(buffer)); printf("0x%06x : ", offset); for(i=0; i<bytes_read; ++i) { printf("%c ", buffer[i]); } printf("\n"); offset = offset + bytes_read; }while(bytes_read == sizeof(buffer)); Now while running I give a file name that doesn't exist. It prints some kind of data mixed with environment variables and a segmentation fault at the end. How is this possible? What is the program printing? Thanks, John

  • how can I select data from MySQL based on date (unix time record)

    I have a record of data with unix time date in it i want to select the row based on the date/month/year only (not with time) currently Im using something like this select * from tablename where date > '$today' and date < '$tomorow' LIMIT 1; how ever this is not that accurate if the $today and $tomorrow have different time (but same date) is there any better way to do this?

  • Is there a good collection library for C-language?

    We have to maintain and even develop C-code of our legacy system. Is there good collection library that would support Java/C# (new versions) style collections. Hashtable, HashSet, etc. Of course without objects, but with structs. The HashTable key limitations to "strings" and ints is not a problem. It wouldn't be bad if it's free even for commercial use. I'm back to C from C# and I must say i'm depressed using our own libraries and the language in general. We're using VS2005 and MS C-compiler if that has nothing to do with anything.
