    Could anyone please help me? I am at the last chance saloon and losing a lot of traffic. Any help would be greatfully received. After a year based on my permalink structure, all posts were in the root so have been picked up by Google as: snowmenu.com/postname Since changing my categories and permalink structure, I need the years worth of posts on Google to be redirected to: snowmenu.com/ski-snowboard-winter-sports-news/postname Is there a way to make this happen via .htaccess?   • Wordpress main website and mobile website duplicate content.

    Basically a client has asked for his WordPress website to be turned into a mobile website as well. I have never attempted this and know nothing about SEO. However the issue has arisen that this may cause duplicate content issues with Google, and therefore both sites may be dropped in the rankings. I was looking at turning the website into a mobile site via one of the available WordPress mobile website plugins. My question is if duplicate content will be an issue? Has anyone ever tried this? After doing some reading I kind of think it may be possible to tell Google not to index the mobile website, although as I understand it It would be the same set of files. So I am unsure that if I tell it not to index one of them, that it will drop the other one as well. Can anyone with WordPress and SEO knowledge clear this up for me?

    How do you execute a Unix shell command (awk script, a pipe etc) on a cluster in parallel (step 1) and collect the results back to a central node (step 2) Hadoop seems to be a huge overkill with its 600k LOC and its performance is terrible (takes minutes just to initialize the job) i don't need shared memory, or - something like MPI/openMP as i dont need to synchronize or share anything, don't need a distributed VM or anything as complex Google's SawZall seems to work only with Google proprietary MapReduce API some distributed shell packages i found failed to compile, but there must be a simple way to run a data-centric batch job on a cluster, something as close as possible to native OS, may be using unix RPC calls i liked rsync simplicity but it seem to update remote notes sequentially, and you cant use it for executing scripts as afar as i know switching to Plan 9 or some other network oriented OS looks like another overkill i'm looking for a simple, distributed way to run awk scripts or similar - as close as possible to data with a minimal initialization overhead, in a nothing-shared, nothing-synchronized fashion Thanks Alex

    I'm creating a GWT application that uses UiBinder, and I've come across a bizarre problem where styles aren't applying to my elements--until I refresh the browser, and then the styles briefly get applied, in that fraction of a second before the page refreshes. In other words: Open page; none of my defined styles are used.   • Short Look at Frends Helium 2.0 Beta

    Pekka from Frends gave me the opportunity to have a look at the beta-version of their Helium 2.0. For all of you, who don't know the tool: Helium is a web-application that collects management-data from BizTalk which you usually have to tediously collect yourself, like performance-data (throttling, throughput (like completed Orchestrations/hour), other perfomance-counters) and data about the state of BTS-Applications and presents the data in clearly structured diagrams and overviews which (often) even allow drill-down.  Installing Helium 2 was quite easy. It comes as an msi-file which creates the web-application on IIS. Aditionally a windows-service is deployt which acts as an agent for sending alert-e-mails and collecting data. What I missed during installation was a link to the created web-app at the end, but the link can be found under Program Files/Frends... On the start-page Helium shows two sections: An overview about the BTS-Apps (Running?, suspended messages?) Basic perfomance-data You can drill-down into the BTS-Apps further, to see ReceiveLocations, Orchestrations and SendPorts. And then a very nice feature can be activated: You can set a monitor to each of the ports and/or orchestrations and have an e-mail sent when a threshold of executions/day or hour is not met. I think this is a great idea. The following screeshot shows the configuration of this option. Conclusion: Helium is a useful monitoring  tool for BTS-operations that might save a lot of time for collecting data, writing a tool yourself or documentation for the operations-staff where to find the data. Pros: Simple installation Most important data for BTS-operations in one place Monitor for alerts, if throughput is not met Nice Web-UI Reasonable price Cons: Additional Perormance-counters cannot be added Im am not sure when the final version is to be shipped, but you can see that on Frend's homepage soon, I guess... A trial version is available here

    I have a browser which takes certain parameters as options as shown below. testbrowser.exe -id=test -url=http://www.google.com/. Below is my selenium code. selenium = new DefaultSelenium("localhost", 4444, "*custom "+testBrowser+" -id=test -url=", "http://www.google.com/"); selenium.start(); selenium.open("http://www.yahoo.com"); When i execute this i am getting the below error. java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not start Selenium session: Failed to start new browser session: Error while launching browser at com.thoughtworks.selenium.DefaultSelenium.start(DefaultSelenium.java:103) I think the problem is with options that my browser requires as the same code works fine with firefox or IE.   • C++ linking issue on Visual Studio 2008 when crosslinking different projects on same solution

    I'm using Google Test Framework to set some unit tests. I have got three projects in my solution: FN (my project) FN_test (my tests) gtest (Google Test Framework) I set FN_test to have FN and gtest as references (dependencies), and then I think I'm ready to set up my tests (I've already set everyone to /MTd (not doing this was leading me to linking errors before)). Particularly, I define a class called Embark in FN I would like to test using FN_test. So far, so good. Thus I write a classe called EmbarkTest using googletest, declare a member Embark* and write inside the constructor: EmbarkTest() { e = new Embark(900,2010); } Then , F7 pressed, I get the following: 1>FN_test.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: __thiscall Embark::Embark(int,int)" (??0Embark@@QAE@HH@Z) referenced in function "protected: __thiscall EmbarkTest::EmbarkTest(void)" (??0EmbarkTest@@IAE@XZ) 1>D:\Users\lg\Product\code\FN\Debug\FN_test.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals Does someone know what have I done wrong and/or what can I do to settle this?

  • Android Market, Search results position Mystery.

    How is an app's position in the Android Market search results determined? Is it as mysterious and complex as Google Web search results? We obviously don't want to change any words in our app's title or description that would hurt our position. Same question applies for not only search results, but when clicking on a Category in the Android Market. How is the order of the list determined? Hopefully someone here can help. I would think that Google would have published some guidelines at least that could help, but I haven't found anything yet.

  • JavaScript Image zoom with CSS3 Transforms, How to calculate Origin? (with example)

    I'm trying to implement an image zoom effect, a bit like how the zoom works with Google Maps, but with a grid of fix position images. I've uploaded an example of what I have so far here: http://www.dominicpettifer.co.uk/Files/MosaicZoom.html (uses CSS3 transforms so only works with Firefox, Opera, Chrome or Safari) Use your mouse wheel to zoom in/out. The HTML source is basically an outer div with an inner-div, and that inner-div contains 16 images arranged using absolute position. It's going to be a Photo Mosaic basically. I've got the zoom bit working using CSS3 transforms: $(this).find('div').css('-moz-transform', 'scale(' + scale + ')'); ...however, I'm relying on the mouse X/Y position on the outer div to zoom in on where the mouse cursor is, similar to how Google Maps functions. The problem is that if you zoom right in on an image, move the cursor to the bottom/left corner and zoom again, instead of zooming to the bottom/left corner of the image, it zooms to the bottom/left of the entire mosaic. This has the effect of appearing to jump about the mosaic as you zoom in closer while moving the mouse around, even slightly. That's basically the problem, I want the zoom to work exactly like Google Maps where it zooms exactly to where your mouse cursor position is, but I can't get my head around the Maths to calculate the transform-origin: X/Y values correctly. Please help, been stuck on this for 3 days now.   • Cross-Page communication in firefox extension

    I have two tabs that my extension uses and I wanted to pass events back and forth between them. I've already developed a Google Chrome extension that does this via the background page api, but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent in firefox. I thought message-manager in the firefox extension docs would do the trick, but the documentation on the object is quite poor. I'd be just as happy with using one of the tabs to control the other if I can't directly import the ideas of a background page from google chrome api. Any help/guidance would be great.

I want it to be done in this way: Just put a code (server side scripting) linking to a text file or PHP file, and the code will extract the text and output in my blogspot blog. What i DONT want is to use javascript. Beacause, if i use javascript then the output will be seen only in the users screen. I want the output to be seen by Google Bot too.   • VB.net, disable proxy for entire program

    Ever since upgrading to Visual Studio 2010, I'm running into an issue where the first web request of any type (WebRequest, WebClient, etc.) hangs for about 20 seconds before completing. Subsequent calls work quickly. I've narrowed down the problem to a proxy issue. If I manually disable proxy settings, I don't experience this delay: Dim wrq As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create(Url) wrq.Proxy = Nothing What's strange is that there are no proxy settings enabled on this machine in Internet Options. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to disable proxy settings for my entire project in one shot without explicitly disabling as above for every web object. The main reason I want to be able to do this is that I'm trying to use an API (http://code.google.com/p/google-api-for-dotnet/) which uses web requests, but does not provide any way to manually disable proxy settings. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Is there a better way to do this as in a way to fillin the text body box of gmail compose section. Or some way to open the page and have it prefilled with javascript some how...

    Hi, does anyone know a free service for hosting private and public git repositories? There are a lot of services like for example the well known github. Most of them only allow hosting of public repositories. I want to host one or more of my private programming projects using git, but not all of them should be public (at least not for now). I also found the free service GitFarm which is build using the Google App Engine technology, but i couldn't find any information how it works (don't know what "built on Google App Engine technology" means) or if there are any other limitations. Also it seams like there is no web front-end available. An integrated web front-end, bug tracker and stuff like this would also be a big plus!

It displays a 'Buy Now' button on HTML page and after clicking on it redirects to PayPal site.     I have a blog in blogspot. Step (1). Whenever any visitor visit my blogspot blog through Google, the search search string is tracked through a javascript and the search string is saved in another server (say serverX) Step (2). Now, when another visitor (human/Google Bot/Any downloader/etc..) visits my blog, he/she should be able to see the search string (Saved in ServerX) in my blog (anywhere, be it content or at the bottom of the blog....it doesn't matter) Well, I can code the javascript and can also write a php code to save the search string... but i've absolutely NO idea how to do the step (2) Please tell me how to do Step 2...     Hello, In my django project in the view I call the last 6 values in the column and send them to the template. I then would like to pass into google charts api those 6 values and have a graph.   • Getting website data into Adobe InDesign

    I'd like our magazine team to be able to download website data in a file that Adobe InDesign can read. They can then import/open the file, make a few tweaks, and cut out a vast deal of repetitive manual labour (they currently use copy&paste for a few hours). After a brief Google I note that v2 of InDesign can import/export XML so perhaps that is my best bet? Are there any alternatives, and can anyone offer any advice on them? I am using a PC, and the magazine team are on Macs; testing will be tiresome I fear. The data we wish to format is fairly simple - a title followed by a short chunk of text (repeated about 50 times, say). I'll ask about importing images later. Thanks for your help. I will return to Google now, but it would be great if anyone can point me in a more specific direction first!
