• In Sinatra, how can I serve static index.html files in subdirectories in public folder?

  I noticed that Sinatra does not recognize index.html files in public folder's subdirectories and returns an error when url is pointing to a directory without specifiying the file name. For example, if user enters a url like "www.mydomain.com/subdiretory/", Sinatra fails to recognize the existence of an index.html file in that directory. There are hundreds of subdirectories in my public folder so that it is impossible to specify each one of them in code (and the number of subdirectories keeps growing). How can I tell Sinatra to leave my web server (Apache) alone (to server index.html file) if there is an index.html file in a subdirectory of public folder when url is pointing to that directory without the file name?

  I'm trying to select dynamic ids when a user types something into the input fields. My app spits out the input fields in the following format: <input id="student_1_first_name" /> <input id="student_1_last_name" /> <input id="student_2_first_name" /> <input id="student_2_last_name" /> <input id="student_3_first_name" /> <input id="student_3_last_name" /> etc. For example, I tried doing this to select the end of the id string: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready( function (){ $("input[id$=_first_name]").bind("keyup", run_some_function_here); run_some_function_here(); $("input[id$=_last_name]").bind("keyup", run_some_function_here); run_some_function_here(); } ); </script> When I do that, Jquery can't seem to select the input ids, so the functions don't run. Do you have any ideas on how I can select the ids correctly?

  When MacOS boots up and the users is prompted to select the account (s)he wants to login into, the users can either click the name / icon of the account with the mouse or just type in the name of the account. I want to do the same at the login screen of Windows7: Login screen pops up, I start to type my account name, I select the account with enter and then I type the password and enter again. No usage of the mouse involved. (I am aware of tab-cycling and hard-to-follow-the-almost-invisible-marker-of-where-the-focus-is-right-now)

• Once an HTML document has a manifest (cache.manifest), how can you remove it?

  It seems that once you have a manifest entry, a la: <html manifest="cache.manifest"> Then that page (the master entry in the cache) will always be cached (at least by Safari) until the user does something to remove the cache, even if you later remove the manifest attribute from the html tag and update the manifest (by changing something within it), forcing the master entry to be reloaded along with everything else. In other words, if you have: index.html (with manifest defined) file1.js (referenced in manifest) file2.js (referenced in manifest) cache.manifest (lists the two js files) -- removing the manifest entry from index.html and modifying the manifest (so it gets expired by the browser and all content reloaded) will not stop this page from behaving as if it's still fully cached. If you view source on index.html you won't see the manifest listed anymore, but the browser will still request only the cache.manifest file, and unless that file's content is changed, no other changes to any files will be shown to the user. It seems like a pretty glaring bug, and it's present on iOS as well as Mac versions of Safari. Has anyone found a way of resetting the page and getting rid of the cache without requiring user intervention?

  I have tried to use k-means clustering to select the most diverse markers in my population, for example, if we want to select 100 lines I cluster the whole population to 100 clusters then select the closest marker to the centroid from each cluster. The problem with my solution is it takes too much time (probably my function needs optimization), especially when the number of markers exceeds 100000. So, I will appreciate it so much if anyone can show me a new way to select markers that maximize diversity in my population and/or help me optimize my function to make it work faster.   I am looking for a relatively simple HTML to text converter which displays links and works on strings. So far I have tried lynx but performance is too bad, html2text which gives weird and verbose markdown output and is under GPLv3 which is too restrictive for my (BSD-licensed) project, http://effbot.org/librarybook/formatter-example-3.py using htmllib.HTMLParser with formatter.AbstractFormatter and a custom writer, however htmllib.HTMLParser is drpeceated and has been removed from Python 3. So is there any simple, performant, Python 3-compatible HTML to text converter under a permissive license such as MIT/BSD/Apache and the like? Edit: I dont just need something to strip HTML-Tags but also to preserve the basic structure of the HTML, that is output that somewhat resembles that of Lynx.

At some point it will happen!! Although most of the time it renders the way it should, sometimes it produces an invalid output like that: <a href="x" title="x"></a> <div class="p-cpt"> <a href="x" title="x">name</a> </div> <div class="p-img"> <a href="x" title="x"><img src="x" width="x" height="x" alt="x" /></a> </div> Looks like it repeats the link inside each element. • Why is my content being overwritten instead of replaced in jQuery/Ajax?

  I've got jquery being used in ajax to pass some contents into a database, my problem however has nothing to do with the db.. I have input fields in an id called #clientscontainer. When I click "save" in that container, it automatically refreshes the container correctly ... $('#clientscontainer').html(html); The problem is, a couple of those input fields (such as a description and title), have instances in another div that i want to refresh upon the save click. The other ID is: $('div#' + clientID') When I do $('div#' + clientID').html(html); it refreshes the content from clientscontainer in it instead of just the variables that I want to update. When I try to pass just the variable $(blurb).html(html); it updates the blurb but it ONLY displays that variable in the div# clientID div... whereas I just want to replace it.   Hi, The use case I want to achive is. 1. Fetch XML from a remote URL. 2. Convert it to HTML using XSLT 3. Insert the generated HTML at a position in my ASP.NET web forms page. Alternative on the above, if 1 returns a 404: 2. Generate HTML which display an error message to the user. Only step 3 is left as I've completed 1-2. As there are logic for handling the two execution paths and performing the XSLT-transformation I thought it would be suitable to keep it in the code-behind file. What's a good, clean way of inserting generated HTML at a position in my ASP.NET web forms page?

  I am trying to append li elements coming from a php file with JQuery. Problem is that the html code needs to be seperately appended to different html IDs according to the key value. Unfortunately as I understood append() can only append correct html with all elements closed. Otherwise it will automatically close the tags. The following code will NOT work as dval contains code like <div><li class="some">Some value</li> and append() will make <div><li class="some">Some value</li></div> out of it.
