  • How do I change the style of an input box in IE7 on focus?

    I know IE7 has issues... I've read posts here and on Google telling me I need to set the style by hand onfocus() and onblur(). However, everything I try isn't working!     I'm trying to declare a method for my program that takes only a 5 digit integer and for each digit of the integer, reads a value from the program and prints it out. I understand this isn't very clear but im having trouble relaying what I mean. I understand it will be some sort of for loop to read each digit of the integer individually until something reaches 5. Something like the charAt() string method but works for digits.

    I run a REST-API build on top of Sinatra. Now I want to write a jQuery Script that fetches data from the API. Sinatra is told to response with JSON before do content_type :json end A simple Route looks like get '/posts' do Post.find.to_json end My jQuery script is a simple ajax-call $.ajax({ type: 'get', url: 'http://api.com/posts', dataType: 'json', success: function(data) { // do something } }) Actually everything works fine as long as both runs on the same IP, API and requesting JS. I already tried to play around with JSONP for Rack without any positive results, though. Probably I just need a hint how to proceed.

    I want to use auto-completion in a number of fields (5-7) in my forms. There is a screencast on auto-completion with Prototype library by Ryan Bates ( http://railscasts.com/episodes/102-auto-complete-association). On the other hand, I have noticed that quite many guys suggest jQuery for this task ( http://jquery.bassistance.de/autocomplete/demo/). And I guess, there was probably some development last year(s), so I ask you - what would you use nowadays to auto-complete your form fields and why?     I have a class MyController that inherits from Controller, so all my controllers inherit from MyController. I have a property in MyController: public class MyController : Controller { public string SomeProperty {get;set;} } if I set this property in MyController's OnExecuting method, my HtmlHelper extension method works fine: public static string SomeExtension(this HtmlHelper htmlHelper) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); string result = ""; var controller = htmlHelper.ViewContext.Controller as MyController; if (controller != null) { result = controller.SomeProperty; } return result; } it doesn't work if I set 'SomeProperty' in my controllers action method. I guess because I am doing 'as MyController' in the extension method? is there a way for it to work in both situations? I am using the value of SomeProperty to be outputted on my view pages.

    I am trying to use Microsoft XPath Extension Functions (such as ms:string-compare http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms256114.aspx) inside an XPathExpression object.     I'd like to know how to call a GWT static method from the parent of the iframe in which the gwt module is loaded. As a simple example suppose I have the following gwt class: public class Simple { public static void showWindow() { Window.alert("Hello from the iframe"); } } I create an html host page called "iFrameHost.html" that can run the function above.     I have a class with a fields called "a". In the class I have a method and in the list of arguments of this method I also have "a". So, which "a" I will see inside of the method? Will it be the field or it will be the argument of the method? public class myClass { private String a; // Method which sets the value of the field "a". public void setA(String a) { a = a; } } By the way, there is a similar situation. A method has some local (for method) variables whose names coincide with the names of the fields. What will the "see" the method if I refer to such a method-local variable inside the method (the field or the local variable)?

    So I just fixed an interesting bug in the following code, but I'm not sure the approach I took it the best: p = 1 probabilities = [ ... ] # a (possibly) long list of numbers between 0 and 1 for wp in probabilities: if (wp > 0): p *= wp # Take the natural log, this crashes when 'probabilites' is long enough that p ends up # being zero try: result = math.log(p) Because the result doesn't need to be exact, I solved this by simply keeping the smallest non-zero value, and using that if p ever becomes 0. p = 1 probabilities = [ ... ] # a long list of numbers between 0 and 1 for wp in probabilities: if (wp > 0): old_p = p p *= wp if p == 0: # we've gotten so small, its just 0, so go back to the smallest # non-zero we had p = old_p break # Take the natural log, this crashes when 'probabilites' is long enough that p ends up # being zero try: result = math.log(p) This works, but it seems a bit kludgy to me. I don't do a ton of this kind of numerical programming, and I'm not sure if this is the kind of fix people use, or if there is something better I can go for.

    I'm getting this error when i try to create a "Lecture" via my Lecture controller's create method. This used to work but i went on to work on other parts of the app & then of course i come back & something is now throwing this error when a user tries to create a Lecture in my app. I'm sure its something small i'm just overlooking (been at it a while & probably need to take a break)...but I'd appreciate if someone could let me know why this is happening...let me know if i need to post anything else...thx!   • Z-Index problems with IE6 and html <select> element

    I have a <div> that opens up on a jquery hover event (display goes from hidden to block). Sometime it's opens up over some form elements. And of course it works fine in all browsers except IE6. <select> boxes bleed through as if there z-index is higher than the <div> tag. I've tried setting the <div> tag with a higher z-index, but it still gets ignored by IE6. I'm hoping to implement any fix -- jquery or css, I really don't care at this point. Any ideas?

  • c# passing method names as the argument in a method

    hi guys, I have a recuring method which shows up many times in my code its basically checking to make sure that the connection to the odbc is ok and then connects but each time this method is called it calls another method and each instance of the main method this one is different, as each method is about 8 lines of code having it 8 times in the code isnt ideal. so basically i would like to have just one method which i can call passing the name of the new method as an arguement. so basically like: private void doSomething(methodToBeCalled) { if(somthingistrue) { methodToBeCalled(someArgument) } } is this possible? thanks in advance

How can I do this in Jquery so that jquery can accomplish this task for me. Is it possible?

    I have a page that is pulling in via an iframe a page of html content from a pre-existing content management system, whose content I can not directly change. I want to use jquery to alter some of the links and button locations dynamically. For links within the page I was able to change the href attr values of <a href="/content.asp">more</a> from content.asp to content2.asp using $("a[href^='/content.asp']") .each(function() { this.href = this.href.replace("content.asp", "content2.asp"); }); But the page pulled in also has form buttons that contains javascript onclick functions e.g. <INPUT type="button" value="Add to basket" onClick="document.location='/shopping-basket.asp?mode=add&id_Product=1076';"> I basically want to use jquery to select any such buttons and change the shopping-basket.asp to shopping-basket2.asp How can I select these buttons/onclick functions and change the location string?

  • Need a Javascript Expert, IE slow script

    I have a jQuery plugin running on my site that is executing very, very slowly in IE7/8 to the point that it throws a slow script warning to the user. It doesn't happen in any other browser, and I can't figure out what might be going on. If you go to this page: http://dev.xeetic.org/projects You'll see that there are 16 results on each page, and each one has a "flip" behavior attached, using the jQuery plugin "quickflip." Attaching this behavior is very slow in IE. If I reduce the result set to 8 or 4 per page, it's faster, but still very bogged down. I have contacted the author of the script with no success. I am willing to pay for a solution, if I'm allowed to offer such a thing on this site. Very desperate. Please help!

Because I want to overload it in the future with a different class. However, the compiler complains that argument of type 'void (ClassBlah::)()' does not match 'void(*)()' .   • mouse tracking on IE

    Consider the following snippet: $(document).bind('mousemove', function(e) { $('#someDiv').css({left: e.pageX+'px', top: e.pageY+'px'}); }); This should make #someDiv follow the mouse (tooltip), when the css value for "position" is set to absolute. Works as expected, except when you Zoom IN or OUT in IE7 ( dind't try other version of IE). Then the e.pageX gets completely off. The more you zoom in (using your mousewheel + CTRL), the more off the positioning gets. I've tried to break jQuery's UI demos (sliders) and it seems not even jQuery guys have this figured out. Is there any genius out there who knows how to fix this nasty thing? Thanks in advance!
