  • how to calculate the beginning of a day given milliseconds?

    i want to figure out the time from the beginning of the day given a days milliseconds. so say i'm given this: 1340323100024 which is like mid day of 6/21/2012. now i want the milliseconds from the beginning of the day, which would be 1340262000000 (at least i think that's what it's supposed to be.) how do i get 1340262000000 from 1340323100024? i tried doing Math.floor(1340323100024/86400000) * 86400000 but that gives me 1340236800000, which if i create a date object out of it, says its the 20th. i know i can create a date object from 1340323100024, then get the month, year, and date, to create a new object which would give me 1340262000000, but i find it ridiculous i can't figure out something so simple. any help would be appreciated. btw, i'm doing this in javascript if it makes any difference.

    I'm wanting to store items in my database with a DATE value for a certain day. I don't know how to get the current Monday, or Tuesday, etc. from the current week. Here is my current database setup. menuentry id int(10) PK menu_item_id int(10) FK day_of_week date message varchar(255) So I have a class setup that holds all the info then I was going to do something like this... foreach ( $menuEntryArray as $item ) { if ( $item->getDate() == [DONT KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE] ) { // code to display menu_item information } } So I'm just unsure what to put in "[DONT KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE]" to compare to see if the date is specified for this week's Monday, or Tuesday, etc. The foreach above runs for each day of the week - so it'll look like this...     Hi, (On behalf of a collegue) In one of our functionality we have some date fields for inline edit where we have enabled manual input. If in rich:calendar component, we manually enter improper date or junk data it will not even call the action method. As per our requirement we need to display an error message for date validation for these kind of fields. Is there any way to track that the date entered in the calendar field is improper with this component.     Hi guys! I am using Ant ftp task to deploy my project files to a remote app server. Ant is not able to detect the date of the remote file and it re-uploads all files every time. When I start Ant in debug mode it says: [ftp] checking date for mailer.war [ftp] Could not date test remote file: mailer.war assuming out of date.     I've built a reservation form for a taxi company which works fine, but I'm having an issue with users making reservations that are due too soon in the future. Since the entire form is kind of long, I first want to make sure the user is not trying to make a reservation for less than an hour ahead of time, without them having to fill out the whole form.     So I am using a scripting language with c++ syntax, and trying to think of the best way to check if a date is within range. The problem I am running into is that if the current day is in a new month, the check is failing. Here is what my code looks like... if(iMonth >= iStartMonth && iMonth <= iEndMonth) { if(iDay >= iStartDay && iDay <= iEndDay) { if(iYear >= iStartYear && iYear <= iEndYear) { bEnabled = true; return; When I have something like this... (Pulled in from cfg file specified by client) Start date: 3 27 2010 End Date: 4 15 2010 Current Date: 3 31 2010 The day check fails because if(iDay <= iEndDay) does not pass. The scripting language doesn't have a lot of time related functions, and I cant compare timestamps because im allowing users to put like "03:27:2010" and "04:15:2010" as start/end dates in a config file. Im assuming I am just not thinking straight and missing an easy fix.

    I'm trying to make a table visible to Views. One of the columns has type date (as opposed to a Unix timestamp). The example I initially tried to copy from is in modules/comment.views.inc in the Views module: // timestamp (when comment was posted) $data['comments']['timestamp'] = array( 'title' => t('Post date'), 'help' => t('Date and time of when the comment was posted.'), 'field' => array( 'handler' => 'views_handler_field_date', 'click sortable' => TRUE, ), 'sort' => array( 'handler' => 'views_handler_sort_date', ), 'filter' => array( 'handler' => 'views_handler_filter_date', ), ); This makes the dates, which are all in the past year or so, show up as "1 Jan 1970 00:33", so evidently a value of '2010-05-12', for example, is being interpreted as 2010 seconds past 1 Jan 1970 00:00. Can anyone point me to a correct way of exporting date columns? EDIT: I'm following up on some clues found at http://drupal.org/node/476774 .

I need to update the table so that there is a running total for all rows with the same date. When a new date occurs the cumulative count re-sets to 1 and then resumes.   • Why Office 2007 override Windows regional date setting?

    I have a problem with a specific user's computer running windows XP SP2 and Office 2007. Although she has the regional date setting in windows to dd/mm/yyyy, her office applications are still reverting to mm/dd/yyyy which is driving her (and me) nuts. None of our other machines is doing this. Does anyone have a clue as to what to be looking for as the source of this irritating problem?

    Hello, I have a list of date/timestamps, and I would like to plot these to a chart in Excel. What I'm looking for is a chart that shows "events per hour" or something similar. Can this be done easily if I just have one column of data (the list of timestamps)? I'm using excel 2007 and looking at two data sets.   • Dropbox takes hours? to sync & shows diff. modified times (coincidentially in the future)

    Dropbox is taking hours to sync, I can't tell exactly how long because the time stamps on the website make no sense - they say the files were modified. . . tomorrow. Actually my netbook (windows xp) says they're last modified tomorrow in windows explorer as well. It's bizarre. The time and date on both computers are correct. The files in question are in a symlinked directory on the laptop (which are synced fine, with the correct timestamps). I have looked for an option to force dropbox to sync, but haven't located one. (There might be a command line method, but I haven't had the time to explore). thanks

    We are hosting a website that when browsed to locally loads up fine but if you browse to it externally you get Conversion from string "1/15/2010 8:46:01 AM" to type 'Date' is not valid. What do I change on the server to fix this. When browsing the site on the server it works, although I am logged into the server as a different user to that in IIS. Any ideas this is actually starting to cause a head ache now.

I can't find anything in the find man page to do this, only to compare against another files time or to check for differences between created time and now.     I have a table that contains a number of values representing Excel serial dates. After a number of unsuccessful attempts to compare fields, my current approach is to do comparisons between serial dates instead of calendar dates. I am trying to summarize the data--by DAY--with formulae. CONSIDER: 41021 some data 41021.625 some data 41021.63542 some data 41022 some data 41022.26042 some data 41022.91667 some data 41023 some data 41023.375 some data DESIRED RESULT: 41021 sum of 41021, 41021.625 and 41021.63542 data 41022 sum of 41022, 41022.26042 and 41022.91667 data 41023 sum of 41023 and 41023.375 data In essence, for all instances of SerialDate.SerialTime, SUM data values associated with SerialDate.* regardless of the *.SerialTime for that date. While I can see how to do this by creating additional dates column formatted as =TEXT(<DateField>,"mm/dd/yyyy") I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to handle this 'conversion' in the formula, e.g.SUMIF((TEXT(<dateRange>,"yy/mm/dd"),=(TEXT(<dateField,"yy/mm/dd")),<dataRange> Make sense?     My Canon camera produces files like IMG_1234.JPG and MVI_1234.AVI. It also timestamps those files. Unfortunately during a trip to another timezone several cameras were used, one of which did not have the correct time zone set - meta data mess.. Now I would like to correct this. Proposed algorithm: 1 read file's modify date 2 add delta, i.e. hhmmss (preferred: change timezone) 3 write new timestamp Unless someone knows a tool or a combination of tools that do the trick directly, maybe one could simplify the calculation using epoch time (seconds since ..) and whip up a shell script. Any help appreciated!

    Obviously I'm talking about time in terms of the PC clock rather than real time. We were testing an application we've developed at work by setting the clock forward and back to simulate different scenarios and I started thinking how useful it would be if you could adjust the rate(?) of the system clock with finer control. So you could make a minute pass in a second or a day pass in 30 seconds and watch how the program you're developing copes with changes in date and time. I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows of any software or hardware which can let you do some or all of the above.

For instance, apache2 for squeezeis is 2.2.16 (https://packages.debian.org/source/squeeze/apache2) However, last apache2 version for the 2.2.x branch is 2.2.27 Test repository can't be used since they use the 2.4.x versions and I'd like to stick on the 2.2.x (to avoid migration issues) How would you handle this situation and how can I update to 2.2.27 ?
