    For my Google Wave robot, on the onDocumentChanged event I want to apply a filter as follows: @Capability(filter = FILTER) @Override public void onDocumentChanged(DocumentChangedEvent event) { ... } I want the filter to be generated the first time the robot is run, which I'm trying to do as follows: private static final String FILTER = generateFilter(); private static final String generateFilter(){ ... } However, it complains FILTER isn't a constant expression when used within @Capability. generateFilter() will return the same string every time it is called, I'm only using it to create the string so that when I make changes, I don't need to worry about updating the filter. Now I could be going about this all wrong, so wondered if anyone knew what I'm doing wrong, or knew a better way in which I could generate a constant expression from the function.

  • Not sure I am using inheritance/polymorphism issue?

    So for this assignment I have to create a car class(parent) and a certifiedpreowned (child) and I need to have the parent class have a method to check if it is still under warranty. *checkWarrantyStatus(). that method calls the boolean isCoveredUnderWarranty() to veryify if the car still has warranty. My issue is in the certifiedpreowned class I have to call the isCoveredUnderWarranty() as well to see if it is covered under the extended warranty and then have it be called via the checkWarrantyStatus() in the car method. I hope this makes sense. So to sum it up I need to in the child class have it check the isCoveredUnderWarranty with extended warranty info. Then it has to move to the parent class so it can be called via checkWarrantyStatus.     The following code does not compile in VS2012, it gives error C2064: term does not evaluate to a function taking 1 arguments on the line of the second for_each (line 4 below). vector<string> v1; for_each(begin(v1), end(v1), [](string s1) { vector<string> v2; for_each(begin(v2), end(v2), [](string s2) { cout << "..."; }); }); I found some related stuff like http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/560907/capturing-variables-in-nested-lambdas which shows a bug (they are doing something different) but on the other hand that shows that what I print above should be possible. What's wrong with the above code?

    I am packing bytes into a struct, and some of them correspond to a Unicode string. The following works fine for an ASCII string: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)] private struct PacketBytes { [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.ByValTStr, SizeConst = 64)] public string MyString; } I assumed that I could do [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)] private struct PacketBytes { [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPWStr, SizeConst = 32)] public string MyString; } to make it Unicode, but that didn't work. (Since this field is part of a struct with other fields, which I've omitted for clarity, I can't simply change the CharSet of the containing struct.) Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Recently I read an example from cppreference.../vector/emplace_back: struct President { std::string name; std::string country; int year; President(std::string p_name, std::string p_country, int p_year) : name(std::move(p_name)), country(std::move(p_country)), year(p_year) { std::cout << "I am being constructed.\n"; } My question: is this std::move really needed? My point is that compiler sees that this p_name is not used in the body of constructor, so, maybe, there is some rule to use move semantics for it by default? That would be really annoying to add std::move on initialization list to every heavy member (like std::string, std::vector). Imagine hundreds of KLOC project written in C++03 - shall we add everywhere this std::move? This question: move-constructor-and-initialization-list answer says: As a golden rule, whenever you take something by rvalue reference, you need to use it inside std::move, and whenever you take something by universal reference (i.e. deduced templated type with &&), you need to use it inside std::forward But I am not sure: passing by value is rather not universal reference?

    Basic Java question here from a real newbie. I have a set of Java objects (of class "MyClass") that implement a certain interface (Interface "MyIfc"). I have a set of these objects stored in a private variable in my class that is declared as follows: protected Set<MyClass> stuff = new HashSet<MyClass>(); I need to provide a public method that returns this set as a collection of objects of type "MyIfc". public Collection<MyIfc> getMyStuff() {...} How do I do the conversion? The following line gives me an error that it can't do the conversion. I would have guessed the compiler knew that objects of class MyClass implemented MyIfc and therefore would have handled it. Collection<MyIfc> newstuff = stuff; Any enlightenment is appreciated.

How can I prevent this? I'd prefer not to have to have javaScript trim the string before submits.

Or should I also use this too when inputting data to a dbc? --When should I use strip_tags() or htmlspecialchars?     I have a nasty situation. I am using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express edition locally on my pc for testing, and once tested I upload database changes to a remote server. I have a situation where I deleted the Default Database on my local machine, and instead of searching hard enough to find an answer to that problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled Management Studio. Since then Management Studio has not been able to connect to the server. Is there any help (or hope for me for that matter), out there?????
