  • Using readfile() with remote URL and SSL

    I have a php-based website that uses SSL and requires a a user to login before accessing any page. I would like to allow access to this site from another domain, so that the functionality remains the same, but the look, feel and domain changes for the user (with the added advantage that I have to maintain only one version of the code). Having done some reading, I'm using readfile() function calls in php files on the secondary server to corresponding files on the primary server. For example, the login.php on the primary server is accessed from the secondary server by a file called login.php containing readfile("http://www.primarydomain.com/login.php") (and nothing else). Now the problem - I can't even login! The login page appears fine when called initially, but when login user and pwd are entered and submitted, it's as if the remote server doesn't see the $_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] variable that triggers form processing and just loads as an empty form. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or what configuation I might need to change? Thanks!

    I would like to temporarily override the kill-new function. I have a way I want to reimplement kill-new that works in only in certain contexts, but I don't want to reimplement a special version of kill-region on top of that. (kill-new is called from kill-region) Since Emacs Lisp uses dynamic scoping, this should be possible, right? (On the other hand, it seems that this would be an unsafe thing to support, and it might make me a bit nervous knowing that it is possible...) I have experimented with using let and fset, but so far have found no way to get it to work as expected. So, hopefully someone can fill in the blank in the following pseudocode: (defun my-kill-new (string &optional replace yank-handler) (message "in my-kill-new!")) (defun foo () (some-form-that-binds-a-function (kill-new my-kill-new) (kill-region (point) (mark)))) What should some-form-that-binds-a-function be? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

    Hello, I want to make sure all getters of the classes in a certain package follow a given template. For example, all getters must be of the form: XXX getYYY(){ classLock.lock(); return YYY; finally{ classLock.unlock(); } } Basically, I want that my project will not compile/run unless all getters are of that form. What is the best way to do that? I would prefer a solution that can be used as an Eclipse plugin. Thanks, Yoav

    Hello, I am submitting a form to my mySql database using PHP. I am sending the form data through the mysql_real_escape_string($content); function. When the entry shows up in my database (checking in myPhpAdmin) all of my double quotes and single quotes are escaped.     I have created a website about some beer brand and had to include age verification page. The verification script is written in PHP and uses sessions to store verification variable. The script works the way that no matter form which link you will try to enter the website it will take you to the verification page first. The verification is very simple. There are 2 button: "I'm under 21" and "I'm over 21". If you click the latter, you can browse the website. After some time I discovered that the web crawlers are not able to get past verification page. I checked the website in Google webmaster tools and the only text content scanned was from the verification page. I read somewhere that crawlers are not able to submit form buttons, is it true? Considering the fact that age verification pages are useless anyways, maybe I should just leave it as a starting page but don't forbid going around it, e.g. from links to the subpages?

    .NET newbie alert Using Visual C# 2008 Express Edition I have accidentally created a click event for a button. I then deleted the automatically-created method code, which resulted in an error saying that the function, which had now been referenced in the form loading code, could no longer be found. Deleting the following line from the Form1.Designer.cs file's InitializeComponent() function... this.btnCopy.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.btnCopy_Click); ... seems to do the trick, however, it makes me feel very dirty because of the following warning at the beginning of the #region: /// Required method for Designer support - do not modify /// the contents of this method with the code editor. I haven't been able to find a way to do this using the form designer, which I assume is the means implied by this warning. What is the correct way to do this?

What I am actually trying to do is to attach a callback to radio buttons. And on click on one of the buttons I want to submit the enclosing form. The browser will send %c4%87. I want to convert that to the string \xc4\x87.   • Is my understanding of "select distinct" correct?

    We recently discovered a performance problem with one of our systems and I think I have the fix but I'm not certain my understanding is correct. In simplest form, we have a table blah into which we accumulate various values based on a key field. The basic form is: recdate date rectime time system varchar(20) count integer accum1 integer accum2 integer There are a lot more accumulators than that but they're all of the same form. The primary key is made up of recdate, rectime and system. As values are collected to the table, the count for a given recdate/rectime/system is incremented and the values for that key are added to the accumulators. That means the averages can be obtained by using accumN / count. Now we also have a view over that table specified as follows: create view blah_v ( recdate, rectime, system, count, accum1, accum2 ) as select distinct recdate, rectime, system, count, value (case when count > 0 then accum1 / count end, 0), value (case when count > 0 then accum2 / count end, 0) from blah; In other words, the view gives us the average value of the accumulators rather than the sums. It also makes sure we don't get a divide-by-zero in those cases where the count is zero (these records do exist and we are not allowed to remove them so don't bother telling me they're rubbish - you're preaching to the choir). We've noticed that the time difference between doing: select distinct recdate from XX varies greatly depending on whether we use the table or the view. I'm talking about the difference being 1 second for the table and 27 seconds for the view (with 100K rows). We actually tracked it back to the select distinct. What seems to be happening is that the DBMS is actually loading all the rows in and sorting them so as to remove duplicates. That's fair enough, it's what we stupidly told it to do. But I'm pretty sure the fact that the view includes every component of the primary key means that it's impossible to have duplicates anyway. We've validated the problem since, if we create another view without the distinct, it performs at the same speed as the underlying table. I just wanted to confirm my understanding that a select distinct can not have duplicates if it includes all the primary key components. If that's so, then we can simply change the view appropriately.
