  I have this hypotetical MySQL table: TABLE cars: (year, color, brand) How do I count # of cars grouped by brand and year? I mean, how can I get to know how many colors are there grouped by brand like: brand "GM": total # of colors: 8. brand "GM": total # of years (grouped together): 14 (meaning there are count of 14 different years). brand "TOYOTA": total # of colors: 3. brand "TOYOTA": total # of years (grouped together): 10 (meaning there are count of 14 different years) I tried playing some queries with COUNT, DISTINCT, GROUP BY but I can't get to it. • SQL 2008 Select Top 1000 and update the selected database drop-down

  When you right click and do a Select top 1000 rows from a table in sql 2008, it opens a tab and writes the sql and then executes it. This is okay, however I'll erase the sql and use the same tab often to do other sql statements. What annoys me is that I have to go to the database drop-down at the top of the window and change it to the current database I'm in because it says Master. How can I make sql 2008 update the selected database for this tab automatically when I right click a table and do select top 1000? On a side note, can I automatically hide the select statement that it generates and just show grid of results?

• scrolling a readonly cell in NSTableview?

  I have a table that the user should not be able to edit directly (although user actions may cause changes). One column may contain a string too long for any reasonable size cell, so to see everything there, the user needs to scroll the cell (using arrow keys, for example). If I make either the column or cell not editible, I loose the ability to scroll the cell. If I make it editable, of course, I loose the ability to keep the user from changeing it. (I'm using NSArray controller and a couple of NSObject controllers to get from the model to the table view using bindings. Binding compliance via @property(copy) and @synthesize.   My understanding is that VMMs such as VMware's ESXi Server maintain shadow page tables to map virtual page addresses of guest operating systems directly to machine (hardware) addresses. I've been told that shadow page tables are then used directly by the processor's paging hardware to allow memory access in the VM to execute without translation overhead. I would like to understand a bit more about how the shadow page table mechanism works in a VMM. Is my high level understanding above correct? What kind of data structures are used in the implementation of shadow page tables? What is the flow of control from the guest operating system all the way to the hardware? How are memory access translations made for a guest operating system before its shadow page table is populated? How is page sharing supported? Short of straight up reading the source code of an open source VMM, what resources can I look into to learn more about hardware virtualization?

  On php page in a form, One combo box has list of my Customer from mysql table customer. Another combo box has invoiceno stored in invoice table which has respective customer records. I want to select customer from first combo box and filter invoiceno from the second one according to the customer. Any one help me for php or java or Jquery or both codeings? Means if I select customer1 then in the second combo box should show all invoiceno respective to the custermer1. No Refresh or ReLoad or Post form Pl. • Need help optimizing MYSQL query with join

  I'm doing a join between the "favorites" table (3 million rows) the "items" table (600k rows). The query is taking anywhere from .3 seconds to 2 seconds, and I'm hoping I can optimize it some. Favorites.faver_profile_id and Items.id are indexed. Instead of using the faver_profile_id index I created a new index on (faver_profile_id,id), which eliminated the filesort needed when sorting by id. Unfortunately this index doesn't help at all and I'll probably remove it (yay, 3 more hours of downtime to drop the index..) Any ideas on how I can optimize this query? In case it helps: Favorite.removed and Item.removed are "0" 98% of the time. Favorite.collection_id is NULL about 80% of the time. Right now they are all DataTables, which isn't very space efficient (the rule of thumb is 10x increase in size when data is strored in a dataset).   Overview: I have a table which stores a persons "availability" for a current day, e.g. Mon - 8:00am - 11:30am Mon - 1:30pm - 6:00pm A second table stores appointments that this person already has for the same day, e.g. Mon - 8:30am - 11:00am Mon - 2:30pm - 4pm Desired result: Doing calculationsI'd like to have the following result - e.g. "this person has availability on the given day": Mon - 8:00am - 8:30am Mon - 11:00am - 11:30am Mon - 1:30pm - 2:30pm Mon - 4:00pm - 6:00pm Any ideas on how to calculate the output given the two inputs (e.g. availability, existing appointments) would be greatly appreciated. • Wix Installer - How to customize FatalError dialog based on server actions

  I need to display different messages in the FatalError dialog depending on what caused the installation to fail. My first attempt was to make the FatalError description text point to a property, and then set this property's value when an error appeared. The problem is that this dialog runs in the InstallUISequence table and the problematic actions in the InstallExecuteSequence table, and apparently the values that are set during InstallExecuteSequence are not copied back to the UI, and thus I'm losing them when the dialog is created. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks!

  Hi, I'm trying to fade in the background colour of a table row, and can't get it right. The fade-in will happen when a button is clicked. I tried something like: $("#row_2").fadeIn('slow').css('background', 'gold') And although this will apply the colour to the table row, it won't fade in, but apply it at once. • SQLite problem with some parameterized queries

  I am having some trouble using SQLite and parameterized queries with a few tables. I have noticed some queries using the "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE row=?" are returning 1 row when there should be more rows returned. If I change the parameterized query to "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE row='row'" then the correct number of rows is returned. Does anyone know why sqlite3_step would return only 1 row when using a parameterized query vs. using the same query in a traditional non-parameterized way? I am using a very thin C++ wrapper around SQLite3. I suspect there could be a problem with the wrapper, but this problem only exists on a few tables. It makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the way those tables are setup. Any advice is appreciated.

I am trying to find the stores within a 10 mile radius or postal code or city/state that a user enters. To accomplish this, I know that I need to rely on geographies. At this time I have: DECLARE @startingPoint geography; SET @startingPoint=geography::STGeomFromText('POINT(-122.34900 47.65100)', 4326); That gives me the starting point from a hard-coded textual value. However, I do not know how to convert a lat/long from my Location table into a geography instance. How do I convert a lat/long in my database to a geography instance so I can continue to work on my query? Thank you!

I had to use trigger for one of my website. so i installed trigger as root so that when something gets inserted on one table there some more rows gets inserted in other table Everything was working fine, but i have seen that there is no trigger in my dtabase. How does that be deleted from DB. I am bit worried because currently site is not live , but it can cause problem if this happens in live site.
