• Java List use through use of JSTL <c:forEach>

  Hello If I have a JSF backing bean return an object of type ArrayList, I should be able to use to iterate over the elements in the list. Each element contains a map and although the question of how to access the map content through JSTL has been answered here, if I pass an array of such maps, I can't find how to iterate over them and still access the map content using JSTL. There's documentation which refers to simple iterators but not to those whose items are themselves maps. BalusC, I'm not trying to force the issue, just that I've been looking at this all day, and still cannot seem to be able to output the contents of my data structure through jsp (only on the console). This as a separate question still has merit. If anyone can give me a simple example of how a java List is iterated over in JSP I'd be massively appreciative. Mark

• Zend_Form_Element_Radio option label should not be escaped

  I want to include some HTML in the labels of the radio buttons so that the user can click a link within that label. For example <label for="value-12"> <input name="value" id="value-12" value="12" checked="checked" type="radio"> Doo Bee Dooo Bee Doooo <a href="somelink">preview this song</a> </label> The html keeps getting escaped. I want to stop that. I read about: array('escape' => false) Somewhere, but I don't know how to use that with $value->setMultiOptions($songs); or $value->addMultiOptions($songs) Any ideas?   Hi All, I want to write a named scoped to get a record from its id. Ex: I have a model called Event and its same as doing Event.find(id) (I dont want to use find inside my controller and I want my controller to use a named scoped (for future flexibility)) So I have written a named scoped named_scope :from_id, lambda { |id| {:conditions = ['id= ?', id] } } and I'm calling it from my controller like Event.from_id(id) But my problems is it returns Event object array not only one object Ex: if I want to get event name I have to write event = Event.from_id(id) event[0].name instead I want to write event = Event.from_id(id) event.name Am I doing something wrong here.. thanks in advance cheers sameera

  Hi, i have a similar issue as espoused in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/695752/product-table-many-kinds-of-product-each-product-has-many-parameters i am convinced to use RDF now. but i already have a database in mysql and the code is in php. 1) So what RDF database should I use? 2) do i combine the approach? meaning i have a class table inheritance in the mysql database and just the weird product attributes in the RDF? I dont think i should move everything to a RDF database since it is only just products and the wide array of possible attributes and value that is giving me the problem. 3) what php resources, articles should i look at that will help me better in the creation of this? 4) thank you.

• Android - Calling getJSONArray throwing JSONException with no stack trace

  Hi all, I'm currently working on an android app that pulls a list of forums from a JSON feed. I'm trying to parse the feed and immediately upon calling getJSONArray a JSON exception is being thrown with no stack trace. The JSON being returned is stored in an JSONObject jobj with the format as follows: { "Forum": [ {"ForumName":"CEC Employee Communications Forum","ForumId":"105"}, {"ForumName":"CEC External Stakeholder Relations Forum","ForumId":"109"}, {"ForumName":"See All...","ForumId":"0"} ] } However when running the following code, I get an immediate exception without a stack trace: JSONArray jarray = new JSONArray(); jarray = jobj.getJSONArray("Forum"); Running jobj.GetJSONArray("Forum").toString(); returns what looks to be a correct array of the format: [ {"ForumName":"CEC Employee Communications Forum","ForumId":"105"}, {"ForumName":"CEC External Stakeholder Relations Forum","ForumId":"109"}, {"ForumName":"See All...","ForumId":"0"} ] I also tried JSONArray jarray = new JSONArray(jobj.GetJSONArray("Forum").toString()); and had the exception thrown immediately. • Reverse Engineer a .pyo python file

  I have 2 .pyo python files that I can convert to .py source files, but they don't compile perfectly as hinted by decompyle's verify. Therefore looking at the source code, I can tell that config.pyo simply had variables in in an array: ADMIN_USERIDS = [116901, 141, 349244, 39, 1159488] I would like to take the original .pyo and disassembly or whatever I need to do inorder to change one of these IDs. Or.... in model.pyo the source indicates a if (productsDeveloperId != self.getUserId()): All I would want to do is hex edit the != to be a == .....Simple with a windows exe program but I can't find a good python disassembler anywhere. Any suggestions are welcomed...I am new to reading bytecode and new to python as well.

  Hi I'm running a web application that allows a user to log in. The user can add/remove content to his/her 'library' which is displayed on a page called "library.php". Instead of querying the database for the contents of the users library everytime they load "library.php", I want to store it globally for PHP when the user logs in, so that the query is only run once. Is there a best practice for doing this? fx. storing their library in an array in a session? Thanks for your time

• Selecting arbitrary strings with Zend DB Select?

  I am using the fluent interface to create a Zend DB Select object/query. As part of the query, I would like to select an arbitrary string, like "SELECT 'foo' AS 'type' FROM ...". foo is not a column, it's just a string literal. When I select an arbitrary number, the query works as expected. When I change it to a string, Zend tries to treat foo as a column, and throws an error: SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column 'l.foo' in 'field list' I have tried wrapping the string in Zend_Db_Expr in various ways such as: $select->columns(array('type' => new Zend_Db_Expr('foo'))); That stops Zend from adding the correlation name, but it still treats it as a column: SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column 'foo' in 'field list' I feel like I must be missing something obvious here. How do I tell Zend to stop treating this as a column?

  I've created an experimental toy programming language with a (now) working interpreter. It is turing-complete and has a pretty low-level instruction set. Even if everything takes four to six times more code and time than in PHP, Python or Ruby I still love programming all kinds of things in it. So I got the "basic" things that are written in many languages working: Hello World Input - Output Countdowns (not as easy as you think as there are no loops) Factorials Array emulation 99 Bottles of Beer (simple, wrong inflection) 99 Bottles of Beer (canonical) Conjatz conjecture Quine (that was a fun one!) Brainf*ck interpreter (To proof turing-completeness, made me happy) So I implemented all of the above examples because: They all used many different aspects of the language They are pretty interesting They don't take hours to write Now my problem is: I've run out of ideas! • Passing parameter map (list of values) to JQuery

  Hello, to initialize a javascript loaded grid, I need to pass a list of values from controller/gsp. Since the javascript is activated once the page is rendered/loaded, there may not be a direct way to do it. 2 possibilities 1. do an ajax call, and retrieve the list of values from the server 2. store the list in html as a hidden element, and read it from javascript. option 2 seems better as it avoids few calls back to server. So, which control should I use for a list of values? Any jQuery code snippet to read it back into array/list. thanks in advance.

  Say I have a hashmap, $hash = array('fox' => 'some value', 'fort' => 'some value 2', 'fork' => 'some value again); I am trying to accomplish an autocomplete feature. When the user types 'fo', I would like to retrieve, via ajax, the 3 keys from $hash. When the user types 'for', I would like to only retrieve the keys fort and fork. Is this possible? What I was thinking was using binary search to isolate the keys with 'f', instead of brute-force searching. Then continue eliminating the indexes as the user types out their query. Is there a more efficient solution to this?

• How get file names using OpenFileDialog in .NET (1000+ file multiselect)

  Maybe some of you have come across this before.... I am opening files for parsing. I'm using OpenFileDialog, of course, but i'm limited to a buffer of 2048 on the .FileNames string. Thus, I can only select a few hundred files. This is OK for most cases. However, fore example, I have in one case 1400 files to open. Do you know a way to do this with the open file dialog. I just want the string array of .FileNames, I pass that to parser class. I was also thinking of offering a FolderBrowserDialog option and then I'd use some other method to just loop through all the files in a directory, like the DirectoryInfo class. I'd do this as a last resort if I can't have an all in one solution.

  So I found some similarities between arrays and set notation while learning about sets and sequences in precalc e.g. set notation: {a | cond } = { a1, a2, a3, a4, ..., an} given that n is the domain (or index) of the array, a subset of Natural numbers (or unsigned integer). Most programming languages would provide similar methods to arrays that are applied to sets e.g. upperbounds & lowerbounds; possibly suprema and infima too. Where did arrays come from?

• UITableView titleForHeaderInSection prints headers to console twice then crashes

  In the method below titleForHeaderInSection, for some reason the NSLog prints out the headers twice and then the app crashes in objc_msgSend. I can't understand why this would cause the app to crash? It would seem from research that crashes in objc_msgSend are caused by sending messages to already freed objects, but is that the case here?   I am trying to build the following SQL statement: SELECT users_table.*, users_data.first_name, users_data.last_name FROM users_table INNER JOIN users_data ON users_table.id = user_id WHERE (users_table.username LIKE '%sc%') OR (users_data.first_name LIKE '%sc%') OR (users_data.last_name LIKE '%sc%') I have the following code at the moment: public function findAllUsersLike($like) { $select = $this-select(Zend_Db_Table::SELECT_WITH_FROM_PART)-setIntegrityCheck(false); $select-where('users_table.username LIKE ?', '%'.$like.'%'); $select-where('users_data.first_name LIKE ?', '%'.$like.'%'); $select-where('users_data.last_name LIKE ?', '%'.$like.'%'); $select-join('users_data', 'users_table.id = user_id', array('first_name', 'last_name')); return $this-fetchAll($select); } This is close, but not right as it uses AND to add the extra WHERE statements, instead of OR. Is there any way to do this as one select? Or should I perform 3 selects and combine the results (alot more overhead?)? P.S. The parameter $like that is past is sanitized so don't need to wory about user input in the code above!

• Avoiding EXC_BAD_ACCESS when using the delegate pattern

  A have a view controller, and it creates a "downloader" object, which has a reference to the view controller (as a delegate). The downloader calls back the view controller if it successfully downloads the item. This works fine as long as you stay on the view, but if you navigate away before the download is complete I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I understand why this is happening, but is there any way to check if an object is still allocated? I tried to test using delegate != nil, and [delegate respondsToSelector:], but it chokes. if (!self.delegate || ![self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(downloadComplete:)]) { // delegate is gone, go away quietly [self autorelease]; return; } else { // delegate is still around [self.delegate downloadComplete:result]; } I know I could, a) have the downloader objects retain the view controller b) keep an array of downloaders in the view controller, and set their delegate values to nil when I deallocate the view controller. But I wonder if there is an easier way, where I just test if the delegate address contains a valid object?

  Hi, My understanding of basic BFS traversal for a graph is: BFS { Start from any node . Add it to que. Add it to visited array While(que is not empty) { remove head from queue. Print node; add all unvisited direct subchilds to que; mark them as visited } } However, if we have to traverse a DIRECTED graph from a given node and not all nodes are accessible from the given node [directly or indirectly] how do we use BFS for the same. Can you please explain in this graph as well: a= b = d = e = d a= c = d Here if the starting node is b , we never print a and c. Am I missing something in the algorithm. P.S: I used "HashMap adj = new HashMap();" to create the adjacencey list to store graph Any pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
