  • SASS implementation for Java?

    I'm looking for SASS implementation in Java (could be used with JSP/JSF). For Python I've found CleverCSS, but there is nothing for Java. Anyone heard something about this sort of tool for generating CSS?

  • PyGTK: dynamic label wrapping

    It's a known bug/issue that a label in GTK will not dynamically resize when the parent changes. It's one of those really annoying small details, and I want to hack around it if possible. I followed the approach at 16 software, but as per the disclaimer you cannot then resize it smaller. So I attempted a trick mentioned in one of the comments (the set_size_request call in the signal callback), but this results in some sort of infinite loop (try it and see). Does anyone have any other ideas? (You can't block the signal just for the duration of the call, since as the print statements seem to indicate, the problem starts after the function is left.) The code is below. You can see what I mean if you run it and try to resize the window larger and then smaller. (If you want to see the original problem, comment out the line after "Connect to the size-allocate signal", run it, and resize the window bigger.)   • Any suggestions for testing extjs code in a browser, preferably with selenium?

    We've been using selenium with great success to handle high-level website testing (in addition to extensive python doctests at a module level). However now we're using extjs for a lot of pages and its proving difficult to incorporate Selenium tests for the complex components like grids. Has anyone had success writing automated tests for extjs-based web pages? Lots of googling finds people with similar problems, but few answers. Thanks!

    How do I determine the length of an audio recording I am recording programaticaly? My current solution is to just time the start/stop recording events on the User Interface (literally the time the user hits record, then hits stop recording.) Given a .aac audio file, is there some library call in Objective-C or Python to determine its length?

I am actually in process of writing a Pseudo distributed one using python and multiprocessing module and thus wanted to know if someone else has also tried implementing it.   • Using an ODBC application with a JDBC driver

    My company uses Vertica. We have Python applications that connect to it with pyodbc. I do most of my development on a Mac (Snow Leopard) and unfortunately Vertica has not released ODBC drivers for Mac. They do have JDBC drivers though. I don't think developing in Jython is a good compromise. Is there any way to use JDBC drivers with an ODBC application? Some kind of ODBC connector?

Does anybody provide Visual Studio support for *IL in the form of: project templates, IntelliSense integration, and those kind of RAD features? Edits: I don't mean restricted to out of the box support. For example, I can download Visual Studio extensions to support Python, COBOL, etc. Want the same for *IL.   • Is there any limit to recursion in lisp?

    I enjoy using recursion whenever I can, it seems like a much more natural way to loop over something then actual loops. I was wondering if there is any limit to recursion in lisp? Like there is in python where it freaks out after like 1000 loops? Could you use it for say, a game loop? Testing it out now, simple counting recursive function. Now at 7000000! Thanks alot

Following are the things I have in mind: 1) use high level scripting language like python or perl instead of shell script for a more comprehensive functionality and error handling 2) check that the file exists at the destination after FTP 3) check destination file size. I'd like this functionality for other languages as well, apart from the basics that Doxygen supports (C++, C, Java, Objective-C, Python, VHDL, PHP, C#). I'm currently interested in JavaScript, ActionScript 2 and ActionScript 3/Flex but am looking for ways or tools that have a wider language support than Doxygen. I don't really want to spark any flame wars, but: When should you use scripting languages over compiled languages for website development?
