• Portable Contacts for PHP?

  I can see Google is implementing the Portable Contacts API for developers to fetch a user's contacts. That seems like exactly what I want to do and I especially like the fact that the protocol is open and through it I can support more than just Google. What I'd like to know is whether there is a library for PHP that implements this protocol, as I don't feel like writing one from scratch / reinventing the wheel. I wouldn't generally post such questions which could be answered by simply googling, but I've done my googling on the subject and can't seem to find any relevant info. BTW, I don't use Zend, so please don't suggest that to me, unless it's the only way possible.

• Optimising Androidplot

  Seems Androidplot (androidplot.com) website/forums are down so I'll try asking this question here. I have multi touch zoom and scrolling. Similar code to http://mlepicki.com/2012/03/androidplot-multitouch-zoom-scroll/ except that I have a bar graph instead. However with 100 data points it has noticeable lag. Even with 10 bars are just showing. Sounds like its drawing/calculating/etc all bars. Any idea on how I could optimise this? I can't use hardware rendering as I want to support Android 2.1 and the library doesn't support it(it breaks).

  Hello, I'm not a java developer. But I'm currently taking a look at Android applications development so I'm doing a bit of nostalgy, doing some java again after not touching it for three years. I'm looking forward using the "google-api-translate-java" library. In which there is a Language class. It's an enum allowing to provide the language name and to get it's value for Google Translate. I can easily get all the values with : for (Language l : values()) { // Here I loop on one value } But what I'd want to get is a list of all the keys names (FRENCH, ENGLISH, ...). Is there something like a "keys()" method that'd allow me to loop through all the enum's keys ?

• How to delete a customized cell in UITableView ?

  I have UITableView. I customized the cell height (increased). I have 4 labels(UILabel) and 1 image(UIImage) and 3 buttons (UIButton). one of the button is delete button. By touching the cell or button(play button) on the image a video is loaded and played. I need to delete the cell by touching delete button. If I touched the delete button the corresponding video is deleted from library . But, how to delete the cell and all remaining data in it ? I am not able to delete the cells or the data in the cells. How to do it ? Thank you.

• Visual C++ 9 Linker file size limitation.

  It appears that the visual C++ 9 linker has a file allocation algorithm that doubles the size of the file every allocation, so you get 512mb, 1024mb, 2048mb, 4096mb. The problem is that it is using a library that cannot handle files larger 2048MB, and as such crashes with an error such as "cannot read file at is the disk full or write protected". Is there a way to bypass this limitation or otherwise replace the linker with something else that works? A bit of background, I have a code generator that generates a large number of files, ~15k cpp files, I've managed to reduce the number of files to something about 6k to get something that at least completes the linking process, I would like to be able to include all 15k without having to create multiple libs.

• How to check for C++ copy ellision

  I ran across this article on copy ellision in C++ and I've seen comments about it in the boost library. This is appealing, as I prefer my functions to look like verylargereturntype DoSomething(...) rather than void DoSomething(..., verylargereturntype& retval) So, I have two questions about this Google has virtually no documentation on this at all, how real is this? How can I check that this optimization is actually occuring? I assume it involves looking at the assembly, but lets just say that isn't my strong suit. If anyone can give a very basic example as to what successful ellision looks like, that would be very useful I won't be using copy ellision just to prettify things, but if I can be guaranteed that it works, it sounds pretty useful.

  How do I properly include libraries in C++? I'm used to doing the standard libraries in C++ and my own .h files. I'm trying to include wxWidgets or GTK+ in code::blocks and/or netbeans C/C++ plugin. I've included ALL libraries but I constantly get errors such as file not found when it is explicitly in the include! One error: test1.cpp:1:24: wx/msw/wx.rc: No such file or directory : Yes the .h file library is included; what am I missing? Do I need to be importing other things as well? Is there a tutorial for this? Obviously my shoddy textbook hasn't prepared me for this.

  I am trying to figure out how to dynamically specify the properties for my select clause in a linq query. Lets say I have a collection of employee objects. At run time, the end user will be specifying which properties they would like to see for those employees, so I need to be able to dynamically construct my Linq select clause. I have used the dynamic Linq library, but I prefer not to use that, because it requires me to build a string to pass to the select method. I'd like to understand how to do this via Expressions.

  How to get a concurrent method? In my case, the library would be called from a program to get a value to each argument str --in method Get()--. When it's used Get() then it assigns a variable from type bytes.Buffer which it will have the value to return. The returned values --when it been concurrently called-- will be stored into a database or a file and it doesn't matter that its output been of FIFO way (from method). type test struct { foo uint8 bar uint8 } func NewTest(arg1 string) (*test, os.Error) {...} func (self *test) Get(str string) ([]byte, os.Error) { var format bytes.Buffer ... } I think that all code inner of method Get() should be put inner of go func() {...}(), and then to use a channel. • Why are there two implementations of std::sort (with and without a comparator) rather than one implementation with a default template parameter?

  In my code I'm adopting a design strategy which is similar to some standard library algorithms in that the exact behavior can be customized by a function object. The simplest example is std::sort, where a function object can control how the comparison is made between objects. I notice that the Visual C++ provides two implementations of std::sort, which naturally involves code duplication. I would have imagined that it was instead possible to have only one implementation, and provide a default comparator (using operator< ) as a default template parameter. What is the rational behind two separate versions? Would my suggestion make the interface more complex in some way? Or result in confusing error messages when the object does not provide operator Thanks, David

• how can I deliver remote content via web service?

  We have multiple websites under different domains that need to receive our banner ads. We have a server app, in PHP, that returns the HTML for a randomly-generated banner ad. Out of concern for the client side, I don't want to use an iframe nor do I want to include the jquery library because of the weight - I also do not want to duplicate code across all the domains. Any other way to do this? Maybe there is a way to do this with mod rewrite or a web service? Anyone solve a similar problem? Thanks

  I need to bone up on my CLR compiling knowledge, so i'm going to speak in generalities... Appologies if I'm not being specific enough. I'm working on an application that references a COM Library dll which has a number of dlls rolled into it. My question is, is it possible using Reflection to get a reference to the sub dll's assembly, namely to obtain the version number? Or, if this question makes no sense, i'll try to rephrase.   Hi folks, I'm looking for some method of converting a PHP Docblock (as used for generating documentation by tools like Doxygen) into a structure I can inspect in PHP. For example, I want to parse the following lines: /** * Multiply two values * @CHECKME * * @author someone * @created eons ago * * @param integer $x * @param integer $x * * @return integer */ function multiply($x, $y) { return $x * $y; } Into something similar to: array( 'author' = 'someone' ,'created' = 'eons ago' ,'param' = array( 'integer $x' ,'integer $y' ) ,'_flags' = array( '@CHECKME' ) ); I explicitly cannot use PEAR or any such library, it has to be relatively standalone. Any given solution that is better than using a bunch of regexes after stripping away comment outline would be awesome.

• Problem about C++ class (inheritance, variables scope and functions)

  I have a class that contains some data: class DATA Now I would to create some functions that uses those data. I can do it easily by writing member functions like DATA::usedata(); Since there are hundreds of functions, I would to keep an order in my code, so I would like to have some "categories" (not sure of the correct name) like: DATA data; data.memory.free(); data.memory.allocate(); data.file.import(); data.whatever.foo(); where memory, file and whatever are the "categories" and free, allocate and foo are the functions. I tried the inheritance way, but I got lost since I can not declare inside DATA a memory or file object, error C2079 occurs: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/9ekhdcxs%28VS.80%29.aspx Since I am not a programmer please don't be too complicated and if you have an easier way I am all ears.

• Multiple connections to a MySQL database in a single PHP script.

  There are multiple times in one page where I need to connect and subsequently query a MySQL database, yet my code won't let me. I think it might be something to do with how my files are nested but it makes no sense. I am opening the SQL connection in the header file. When a client uses this library and makes a new linked list, he would have the following declaration: list myList; So typing llist just before the opening brace is practically useless, right? • ASP.NET MVC 2 project default script files. What do you use?

  Many js files are included into Scripts folder by default in ASP.NET MVC 2 Projects. I suppose developers use jquery library nearly every time they program a site, but what about other files? Please, can you tell scenarios and reasons when you: Use Microsoft.Ajax instead of jquery or mix both libraries? Do you use JQuery validation infrastructure instead of asp.net mvc one, or combine them both? Thank you in advance! P.S. there are also diferrent editions of the same file. Do you include different editions depenending on debug/release build?

I'm most of all trying to make sure that such a lib does not exist yet, so I know my time is not wasted when I start to design and write such a thing. It's supposed to provide a great foundation to write editing UI components.

  Since zf 1.10 Zend Framework ships with pre-translated validation messages. They are outside the library path. The manual illustrates how to load these in your bootstrap. $translator = new Zend_Translate( 'array', '/resources/languages', $language, array('scan' => Zend_Locale::LOCALE_DIRECTORY) ); Zend_Validate_Abstract::setDefaultTranslator($translator); I am inclined to think that these resources are specific to the zf-version; validators could change over time. If i copy the resources to my application tree I need to perform additional maintenance each time I upgrade to a newer version. What is best practice? Is there a ZF convention already?
