  • Error while running RSpec test cases.

    Following is the error i receive while running test cases written using rpsec. The strange thing is the test were running fine until early yesterday. Can someone guide me towards a solution. I am new to RSpec and and using Rspec and rspec-rails as plugins in my app. and i have no clue to what went wrong.   • Full text index requires dropping and recreating - why?

    Hi all, So I've got a web app running on .net 3.5 connected to a SQL 2005 box. We do scheduled releases every 2 weeks. About 14 tables out of 250 are full text indexed. After not every release, but a few too many, the indexes crap out. They seem to have data in there, but when we try to search them from the front end or SQL enterprise we get timeouts/hangs. We have a script that disables the indexes, drops them, deletes the catalog and then re creates the indexes. This fixes the problem 99 times out of 100. and the one other time, we run the script again and it all works We have tried just rebuilding the fulltext index but that doesn't fix the issue. My question is why do we have to do this ? what can we do to sort the index out?     Hello and thanks in advance for your possible help ! Here's my problem: I have 2 functions f1(x)=14.*x*exp(x-2)-12.*exp(x-2)-7.*x.^3+20.*x.^2-26.*x+12 f2(x)=54.*x.^6+45.*x.^5-102.*x.^4-69.*x.^3+35.*x.^2+16.*x-4 Make the graph for those 2, the first one in [0,3] and the 2nd one in [-2,2]. Find the 3 roots with accuracy of 6 decimal digits using a) bisection ,b) newton,c)secant.For each root find the number of iterations that have been made. For Newton-Raphson, find which roots have quadratic congruence and which don't. What is the main common thing that roots with no quadratic congruence (Newton's method)? Why ? Excuse me if i ask silly things, but i'm asked to do this with no Matlab courses and I'm trying to learn it myself. There are many issues i have with this exercise . Questions : 1.I only see 2 roots in the graph for the f1 function and 4-5 (?) roots for the function f2 and not 3 roots as the exercise says.     The background: I have a project that I last built on 10.5 on a PPC computer using xcode v3.1. It builds against the 10.4 SDK. I now have a MacBook with 10.6 on it and Xcode v3.2.1. I installed the 10.4 SDK with xcode. So now I want to build the project on an intel chip on 10.6. I first get a build error because I have the wrong version of gcc setup so I change the build settings to use gcc 4.0.   • Rails - Logic for finding info from a :has_many :through needed!

    I have 3 relevant tables. User, Orders, and Viewables The idea is that each User has got many Orders, but at the same time, each User can View specific other Orders that belong to other Users. So Viewables has the attributes of user_id and order_id. Orders has a :has_many :Users, :through => :viewables Is it possible to do a find through an Order's view? So something like @viewable_orders = Orders.find(:all, :conditions = ["Viewable.user_id=?",1]) To get a list of Orders which are viewable by user_id=1. (This doesn't work, else I won't be asking. :( ) The idea being that I can do something like a sidebar where the current user (the logged-in one) can view a list of other people's orders that he can view. For example Three other Users who have some Orders that he can view should be eventually displayed like this: Jack (2) Basic Order (registry_id: 1) New Order (registry_id: 29) Amy (4) Short Order (registry_id: 12) Jill (5) Hardware Order (14) Pink Order (17) Software Order (76) (The number in brackets are the respective user_id or registry_id) So to find the list of all of the orders that the current user can find (assuming user_id of the current user is 1), would be found by doing @viewable_orders = Viewable.find(:all, :conditions => ["user_id=?", 1]) And that would give me the collection of the above 6 registries. Now, the easiest way to do this, is for me to just have a list of + Jill's Hardware Order + Jill's Pink Order + Amy's Short Order + etc But that gets ugly for long lists. Thanks!

    While the app works, I am seeing pages of console log warnings when I'm running my app on the simulator. Even Apple's "LoadPresetDemo" sample app produces the same warning messages.   • Can't place a breakpoint in asp.net master page file

    I have an MVC web application. I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error in line 16 below. It's a master page file. When I try to place a breakpoint in that line or anywhere in the file, I get a "this is not a valid location for a breakpoint" error. I have clicked on every line and I can't place a single breakpoint. I do have lines which have code only. How do I place a breakpoint in this file? Note: I can place breakpoints in code files. In some other aspx files, I can place a breakpoint in some code lines and some not. Does the inline code have to be in a special format to place a breakpoint? Using VS 2010 in Windows 7 64bit.   • GMail appearing to ignore Reply-To.

    I'm using a gmail account to send emails from my website. I'm using the same account to pick up emails which are generated by the contact facility on my site. I'm using the Reply-To field to attempt to make it easier to hit reply and easily get back to people. The message comes up with the 'from' address and ignores the 'reply-to' address.   • Node.js running under IIS Express Keeps Crashing

    I recently resinstalled Windows 7 on my machine and went back to downloading and installing the tools to help me continue developing node.js windows azure web applications. I'm guessing its something to do with IIS Express on my machine. The issue I am experiencing is that the collection is getting populated correctly within the property in the class (FetchAll) but when I pass the collection back to the module (Test) all the entries are populated with the last item in the list.     I'm using a custom JLayeredPane. I have several Shapes which needed to be drawn on different layers in the JLayeredPane. To test this I create a JPanel and ask its graphics. Then I draw a test rectangle on that JPanel (preparing the graphics) and in my paintComponent method from the JLayeredPane I finally draw everything. But only if the hash function is of the form: hash(n) = k * hash(n-1) + c(n), and h(0) = 0. In this case, hash( concat(s1,s2) ) = k**length(s2) * hash(s1) + hash(s2) eg. h1 = makeHash32_SDBM( "abcdef", 6 ); h2 = makeHash32_SDBM( "ghijklmn", 8 ); h12 = makeHash32_SDBM( "abcdefghijklmn", 14 ); hx = mod32_powI( 65599, 8 ) * h1 + h2; h1 = 2534611139 h2 = 2107082500 h12 = 1695963591 hx = 1695963591 Note that h12 = hx so this demonstrates the idea. Now, for the SDBM hash k=65599. Whereas the DJB hash has k=33 (or perhaps 31?) and h(0) = 5381 so to make it work you can set h(0) = 0 instead.     I can't figure out why ipdb is not displaying stout properly. I'm trying to debug why a test is failing and so I attempt to use ipdb debugger. For some reason my Input seems to be accepted, but the STOUT is not displayed until I (c)ontinue. Is this something broken in ipdb? It makes it very difficult to debug a program.   • nginx with passenger

    Hello, I'm trying to move from Apache + Passenger to Nginx + passenger on my Ubuntu Lucid Lynx box. When I install passenger, sudo gem install passenger and cd /var/lib/gems/1.9.1/gems/passenger-2.2.14/bin sudo ./passenger-install-nginx-module everything is fine (no error). Nginx is downloaded / compiled and installed at the same time (when selecting the first option during passenger installation). By default it is installed in /opt/nginx. I end up with the configuration file /opt/nginx/conf/nginx.conf (this conf file was automatically updated with passenger config). The thing I do not understand is that I also have the configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf... what is the purpose of this one when it seems that the conf file in /opt/... is the main one ? When I run /etc/init.d/nginx start, it starts correclty saying that /etc/nginx/nginx.conf is ok... Does it mean that it does not check the other conf file ? I have updated /etc/init.d/nginx script and add /opt/nginx/sbin at the beginning of the PATH and it seems the correct conf file is taken into account. It seems like I have 2 nginx installations where I only relied on passenger to install it... Thanks a lot for your help, I am kind of lost here :) Luc
