• Can Amazon VMs be used as Active Directory domain controllers?

  I've got a client who wants to move his companies servers off site. As he is only a 10 person company I'm looking for some pretty in-expensive options. One option is the smallest of the Amazon cloud machines. The question becomes can I make one of these machines a domain controller? Cost wise the Amazon machine is cheaper than the power costs of keeping a server (or a PC) up and running in his home office 24x7 thanks to the high cost of power in Southern California.

  It's one thing to grab screenshots of web sites and return to them for design and interface ideas and inspiration. But increasingly I've found that when I want to examine something that previously caught my eye, the actual web site has since been altered, so I can no longer learn from the code. I wonder: is there a tool available that would allow me to save interfaces in a format that would retain the html/css? Thanks

• Logformat for catching asked hostname in a *.domain.com scenario?

  I have an Apache 2.2 VirtualHost with a *.domain.com Servername. This is required for my scenario, all subdomains are handled with the same site. Now, in the access log, I am trying to figure out a logformat variable (or way) that will let me log the asked for domain name. If I use the vhost_combined format, all I get in my access log is *.domain.com entries, not the actual vhost that was asked for. Anyone know how to do this?

  I just submitted a form that included a text box, in which I had written a quite long text. In another textbox, I filled in a date in the wrong format - and instead of getting an error message, the web site just acted as if my form submission was valid, except nothing was saved. Is there any way to see the history of what has been POST-ed (in the current session, at least), from where I can recover my lost text?

  Hi all, I have a 512 kb/s DSL service at home. I do not have a static IP but I can get one if I pay some extra to my ISP. Now, if I get the static IP, can I make my home box act as my internet host? What else do I need? Thanks P.S. • How can I find which drivers are the correct ones for my machine?

  I'm currently installing Windows 7 onto a new laptop before imaging it to deploy. I need to install the Wireless and Graphics drivers, but the HP site is offering me both ATI and Intel graphics drivers (at 102MB and 470(!)MB) a pop, as well as Intel, Broadcomm, RealTek and Atheros wireless drivers. Is there a bit of software that will tell me what devices are in the machine so I don't have to go through, trial-and-error and find which is the right driver for the hardware?

• 403 error with codeignitor

  When I type in the standard web address for my site, I get a 403 error. However, when I type in a more exact address, say pointing to an index.php file, everything shows up fine. I'm using Anodyne Productions' Nova (SMS 3) which uses codeignitor. All accompanying software (PHP/MySQL) is compatible. I'm not a very technical person, so I'm hoping that this is an easy fix.   I just realized that by default when you create a new site in IIS it defaults to not including any expiration headers. I had been assuming it would be enabled with something reasonable like a day or so. Is this truly the default? Is there anyway to change to a default policy that keeps expiration/caching enabled?

• IIS serving locally, but not remotely

  There is a router between the modem and the server. In the admin panel, I use single-port forward Internal Port External Port IP 80 80 to 192.168.1.100 (Web Server) Basically, I'm not on site, and there is a local IT person who is supposed to have this ready. I saw the port forward page, and it was configured as described above. So my question is, the only other thing it could be is firewall software, or some other device on the network that their not telling me about, right?
