  • Force lowercase property names from Json() in ASP.NET MVC

    - by kouPhax
Given the following class, public class Result { public bool Success { get; set; } public string Message { get; set; } } I am returning one of these in a Controller action like so, return Json(new Result() { Success = true, Message = "test"}) However my client side framework expects these properties to be lowercase success and message. Without actually having to have lowercase property names is that a way to acheive this thought the normal Json function call?

  • How to pass special characters so ASP.NET MVC can handle correctly query string data?

    - by labilbe
Hello, I am using a route like this one: routes.MapRoute("Invoice-New-NewCustomer", "Invoice/New/Customer/New/{*name}", new { controller = "Customer", action = "NewInvoice" }, new { name = @"[^\.]*" }); There is an action which handles this route: public ActionResult NewInvoice(string name) { AddClientSideValidation(); CustomerViewData viewData = GetNewViewData(); viewData.InvoiceId = "0"; viewData.Customer.Name = name; return View("New", viewData); } When I call return RedirectToAction("NewInvoice", "Customer", new {name}); and name is equal to "The C# Guy", the "name" parameter is truncated to "The C". So my question is : What is the best way to handle this kind of special character with ASP.NET MVC? Thanks!

  • MVC Persist Collection ViewModel (Update, Delete, Insert)

    - by Riccardo Bassilichi
In order to create a more elegant solution I'm curios to know your suggestion about a solution to persist a collection. I've a collection stored on DB. This collection go to a webpage in a viewmodel. When the go back from the webpage to the controller I need to persist the modified collection to the same DB. The simple solution is to delete the stored collection and recreate all rows. I need a more elegant solution to mix the collections and delete not present record, update similar records ad insert new rows. this is my Models and ViewModels. public class CustomerModel { public virtual string Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual IList<PreferredAirportModel> PreferedAirports { get; set; } } public class AirportModel { public virtual string Id { get; set; } public virtual string AirportName { get; set; } } public class PreferredAirportModel { public virtual AirportModel Airport { get; set; } public virtual int CheckInMinutes { get; set; } } // ViewModels public class CustomerViewModel { [Required] public virtual string Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual IList<PreferredAirporViewtModel> PreferedAirports { get; set; } } public class PreferredAirporViewtModel { [Required] public virtual string AirportId { get; set; } [Required] public virtual int CheckInMinutes { get; set; } } And this is the controller with not elegant solution. public class CustomerController { public ActionResult Save(string id, CustomerViewModel viewModel) { var session = SessionFactory.CurrentSession; var customer = session.Query<CustomerModel>().SingleOrDefault(el => el.Id == id); customer.Name = viewModel.Name; // How cai I Merge collections handling delete, update and inserts ? var modifiedPreferedAirports = new List<PreferredAirportModel>(); var modifiedPreferedAirportsVm = new List<PreferredAirporViewtModel>(); // Update every common Airport foreach (var airport in viewModel.PreferedAirports) { foreach (var custPa in customer.PreferedAirports) { if (custPa.Airport.Id == airport.AirportId) { modifiedPreferedAirports.Add(custPa); modifiedPreferedAirportsVm.Add(airport); custPa.CheckInMinutes = airport.CheckInMinutes; } } } // Remove common airports from ViewModel modifiedPreferedAirportsVm.ForEach(el => viewModel.PreferedAirports.Remove(el)); // Remove deleted airports from model var toDelete = customer.PreferedAirports.Except(modifiedPreferedAirports); toDelete.ForEach(el => customer.PreferedAirports.Remove(el)); // Add new Airports var toAdd = viewModel.PreferedAirports.Select(el => new PreferredAirportModel { Airport = session.Query<AirportModel>(). SingleOrDefault(a => a.Id == el.AirportId), CheckInMinutes = el.CheckInMinutes }); toAdd.ForEach(el => customer.PreferedAirports.Add(el)); session.Save(customer); return View(); } } My environment is ASP.NET MVC 4, nHibernate, Automapper, SQL Server. Thank You!!

  • Rails: Getting rid of "X is invalid" validation errors

    - by DJTripleThreat
I have a sign-up form that has nested associations/attributes whatever you want to call them. My Hierarchy is this: class User < ActiveRecord::Base acts_as_authentic belongs_to :user_role, :polymorphic => true end class Customer < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :user, :as => :user_role, :dependent => :destroy accepts_nested_attributes_for :user, :allow_destroy => true validates_associated :user end class Employee < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :user, :as => :user_role, :dependent => :destroy accepts_nested_attributes_for :user, :allow_destroy => true validates_associated :user end I have some validation stuff in these classes as well. My problem is that if I try to create and Customer (or Employee etc) with a blank form I get all of the validation errors I should get plus some Generic ones like "User is invalid" and "Customer is invalid" If I iterate through the errors I get something like: user.login can't be blank User is invalid customer.whatever is blah blah blah...etc customer.some_other_error etc etc Since there is at least one invalid field in the nested User model, an extra "X is invalid" message is added to the list of errors. This gets confusing to my client and so I'm wondering if there is a quick way to do this instead of having to filer through the errors myself.

  • Simple Database normalization question...

    - by user365531
Hi all, I have a quick question regarding a database that I am designing and making sure it is normalized... I have a customer table, with a primary key of customerId. It has a StatusCode column that has a code which reflects the customers account status ie. 1 = Open, 2 = Closed, 3 = Suspended etc... Now I would like to have another field in the customer table that flags whether the account is allowed to be suspended or not... certain customers will be automatically suspended if they break there trading terms... others not... so the relevant table fields will be as so: Customers (CustomerId(PK):StatusCode:IsSuspensionAllowed) Now both fields are dependent on the primary key as you can not determine the status or whether suspensions are allowed on a particular customer unless you know the specific customer, except of course when the IsSuspensionAllowed field is set to YES, the the customer should never have a StatusCode of 3 (Suspended). It seems from the above table design it is possible for this to happen unless a check contraint is added to my table. I can't see how another table could be added to the relational design to enforce this though as it's only in the case where IsSuspensionAllowed is set to YES and StatusCode is set to 3 when the two have a dependence on each other. So after my long winded explanation my question is this: Is this a normalization problem and I'm not seeing a relational design that will enforce this... or is it actually just a business rule that should be enforced with a check contraint and the table is in fact still normalized. Cheers, Steve

  • SQL query for getting count on same table using left outer join

    - by Sasi
Hi all, I have a table from which i need to get the count grouped on two columns. the table has two columns one datetime column and another one is success value(-1,1,0) What i am looking for is something like this... count of success value for each month month----success-----count 11------- -1 ------- 50 11------- 1 --------- 50 11------- 0 ------- 50 12------- -1 ------- 50 12------- 1 ------- 50 12------- 0 ------- 50 if there is no success value for a month then the count should be null or zero. I have tried with left outer join as well but of no use it gives the count incorrectly. Thanks in advance Sasi

  • What is a right way to use servlets?

    - by vikp
Hi, I'm studying EJB3. I have a session bean which provides services to create/update customer accounts. This session bean offers services on the lines of: public void addCustomer(Customer c); public void updateCustomer(Customer c); Ideally I'd like to have a single servlet: CustomerServlet and it would invoke the session beans that I have listed above. Problem is that I have two JSPs: UpdateAccount.jsp and CreateAccount.jsp. Both of these JSPs have a form with a method POST and action "CustomerServlet". How can I distinguish in a customer servlet which operation I should carry out: createAccount or updateAccount? I guess the alternative is to have a separate servlet for each operation... Thank you

  • SQL Server 2008 - Search Query

    - by user208662
Hello, I am not a SQL Expert. I’m trying to elegantly solve a query problem that others have had to have had. Surprisingly, Google is not returning anything that is helping. Basically, my application has a “search” box. This search field will allow a user to search for customers in the system. I have a table called “Customer” in my SQL Server 2008 database. This table is defined as follows: Customer UserName (nvarchar) FirstName (nvarchar) LastName (nvarchar) As you can imagine, my users will enter queries of varying cases and probably mis-spell the customer’s names regularly. How do I query my customer table and return the 25 results that are closest to their query? I have no idea how to do this ranking and consider the three fields listed in my table. Thank you!

  • XPath: How to check multiple attributes across similar nodes

    - by Justin
Hi, If I have some xml like: <root> <customers> <customer firstname="Joe" lastname="Bloggs" description="Member of the Bloggs family"/> <customer firstname="Joe" lastname="Soap" description="Member of the Soap family"/> <customer firstname="Fred" lastname="Bloggs" description="Member of the Bloggs family"/> <customer firstname="Jane" lastname="Bloggs" description="Is a member of the Bloggs family"/> </customers> </root> How do I get, in pure XPath - not XSLT - an xpath expression that detects rows where lastname is the same, but has a different description? So it would pull the last node above? Thanks a mill if you can help, been scratching at it for ages, and I can't find it by searching (apologies if it is) Cheers, J

  • MS Access Mark Duplicates in order of appearance - using the function RankOfDup: (SELECT Count(*) ...)

    - by veska stoyanova
I'm trying to create Ranking that shows the sequence of agreements for the two fields Customers and Agreements. The number for agreements must be unique, whereas customers can repeat. The formula RankOfDup: (SELECT Count(*) FROM Data a WHERE a.customer=Data.customer And a.agreement >= Data.agreement) Works beautifully but after this query with columns Agreement, Customer and RankofDup, I need to create crosstab that transposes the RankofDub. It works when I make the table first and then create query but my data is too large so I'm trying to put the select query with the ranking in a crosstab query. However, when I try to do this Access gives error message that microsoft jet ... doesn't recognise Data.customer? Any ideas how I can fix this?

  • iOS: Assignment to iVar in Block (ARC)

    - by manmal
    I have a readonly property isFinished in my interface file: typedef void (^MyFinishedBlock)(BOOL success, NSError *e); @interface TMSyncBase : NSObject { BOOL isFinished_; } @property (nonatomic, readonly) BOOL isFinished; and I want to set it to YES in a block at some point later, without creating a retain cycle to self: - (void)doSomethingWithFinishedBlock:(MyFinishedBlock)theFinishedBlock { __weak MyClass *weakSelf = self; MyFinishedBlock finishedBlockWrapper = ^(BOOL success, NSError *e) { [weakSelf willChangeValueForKey:@"isFinished"]; weakSelf -> isFinished_ = YES; [weakSelf didChangeValueForKey:@"isFinished"]; theFinishedBlock(success, e); }; self.finishedBlock = finishedBlockWrapper; // finishedBlock is a class ext. property } I'm unsure that this is the right way to do it (I hope I'm not embarrassing myself here ^^). Will this code leak, or break, or is it fine? Perhaps there is an easier way I have overlooked? SOLUTION Thanks to the answers below (especially Krzysztof Zablocki), I was shown the way to go here: Define isFinished as readwrite property in the class extension (somehow I missed that one) so no direct ivar assignment is needed, and change code to: - (void)doSomethingWithFinishedBlock:(MyFinishedBlock)theFinishedBlock { __weak MyClass *weakSelf = self; MyFinishedBlock finishedBlockWrapper = ^(BOOL success, NSError *e) { MyClass *strongSelf = weakSelf; strongSelf.isFinished = YES; theFinishedBlock(success, e); }; self.finishedBlock = finishedBlockWrapper; // finishedBlock is a class ext. property }

  • Did we always have to register to download the Java 5 JDK, or is this new Oracle fun?

    - by Ukko
I could swear that just a couple of months ago I downloaded a copy of the Java 1.5 SE JDK and I did not have to give them information on my first born. Today, I had to go through the register-and-we-will-send-you-a-link-someday dance. I have not received the link yet, so I thought I would ask about it here. What is special about the Java 5 JDK? I can get 6 just by clicking, is this a stick to get us to migrate to Java 6? Am I just not remembering doing this before? What marketing genius thought this would be a value add for Java? "If we make them sweat for the JDK they won't just delete it willy-nilly the next time?" Does everyone picture the people designing systems like this as mustache twirling Snidely Whiplash clones like I do? Did I just miss the link for the Secret Squirrel route to the download page? Finally, I am in the U.S. so I should not have to worry about export restrictions. Any thoughts?

  • Ad distribution problem: an optimal solution?

    - by Mokuchan
I'm asked to find a 2 approximate solution to this problem: You’re consulting for an e-commerce site that receives a large number of visitors each day. For each visitor i, where i € {1, 2 ..... n}, the site has assigned a value v[i], representing the expected revenue that can be obtained from this customer. Each visitor i is shown one of m possible ads A1, A2 ..... An as they enter the site. The site wants a selection of one ad for each customer so that each ad is seen, overall, by a set of customers of reasonably large total weight. Thus, given a selection of one ad for each customer, we will define the spread of this selection to be the minimum, over j = 1, 2 ..... m, of the total weight of all customers who were shown ad Aj. Example Suppose there are six customers with values 3, 4, 12, 2, 4, 6, and there are m = 3 ads. Then, in this instance, one could achieve a spread of 9 by showing ad A1 to customers 1, 2, 4, ad A2 to customer 3, and ad A3 to customers 5 and 6. The ultimate goal is to find a selection of an ad for each customer that maximizes the spread. Unfortunately, this optimization problem is NP-hard (you don’t have to prove this). So instead give a polynomial-time algorithm that approximates the maximum spread within a factor of 2. The solution I found is the following: Order visitors values in descending order Add the next visitor value (i.e. assign the visitor) to the Ad with the current lowest total value Repeat This solution actually seems to always find the optimal solution, or I simply can't find a counterexample. Can you find it? Is this a non-polinomial solution and I just can't see it?

  • Problem with continue in While Loop within Try/Catch in C# (2.0)

    - by csharpnoob
Hi, when i try to use in my ASPX Webpage in the Code Behind this try{ while() { ... db.Open(); readDataMoney = new OleDbCommand("SELECT * FROM Customer WHERE card = '" + customer.card + "';", db).ExecuteReader(); while (readDataMoney.Read()) { try { if (!readDataMoney.IsDBNull(readDataMoney.GetOrdinal("Credit"))) { customer.credit = Convert.ToDouble(readDataMoney[readDataMoney.GetOrdinal("Credit")]); } if (!readDataMoney.IsDBNull(readDataMoney.GetOrdinal("Bonus"))) { customer.bonus = Convert.ToDouble(readDataMoney[readDataMoney.GetOrdinal("Bonus")]); } } catch (Exception ex) { Connector.writeLog("Money: " + ex.StackTrace + "" + ex.Message + "" + ex.Source); customer.credit = 0.0; customer.credit = 0.0; continue; } finally { } } readDataMoney.Close(); vsiDB.Close(); ... } }catch { continue; } The whole page hangs if there is a problem when the read from db isn't working. I tried to check for !isNull, but same problem. I have a lots of differend MDB Files to process, which are readonly (can't repair/compact) and some or others not. Same Design/Layout of Tables. With good old ASP Classic 3.0 all of them are processing with the "On Resume Next". I know I know. But that's how it is. Can't change the source. So the basic question: So is there any way to tell .NET to continue the loop whatever happens within the try loop if there is any exception? After a lots of wating time i get this exceptions: at System.Data.Common.UnsafeNativeMethods.IDBInitializeInitialize.Invoke(IntPtr pThis) at System.Data.OleDb.DataSourceWrapper.InitializeAndCreateSession(OleDbConnectionString constr, SessionWrapper& sessionWrapper) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnectionInternal..ctor(OleDbConnectionString constr, OleDbConnection connection) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnectionFactory.CreateConnection(DbConnectionOptions options, Object poolGroupProviderInfo, DbConnectionPool pool, DbConnection owningObject) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionFactory.CreateNonPooledConnection(DbConnection owningConnection, DbConnectionPoolGroup poolGroup) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionFactory.GetConnection(DbConnection owningConnection) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionClosed.OpenConnection(DbConnection outerConnection, DbConnectionFactory connectionFactory) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.Open() at GetCustomer(String card)Thread was being aborted.System.Data and System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReadInt16(IntPtr ptr, Int32 ofs) System.Data.ProviderBase.DbBuffer.ReadInt16(Int32 offset) System.Data.OleDb.ColumnBinding.Value_I2() System.Data.OleDb.ColumnBinding.Value() System.Data.OleDb.OleDbDataReader.GetValue(Int32 ordinal) System.Data.OleDb.OleDbDataReader.get_Item(Int32 index) Thread was terminated.mscorlib Thanks for any help.

  • Two Phase Commit with MongoDB

    - by mattcodes
Heres what Im thinking. Do you see any issues with this workaround to emulate 2 phase commit when using something like MongoDB where each operation is atomic and there is no support for transactions outside of that? transaction_scope: read message from servicebus - UpdateCustomerAddress get customer aggregate from docdb, replay events where commited =1 call customer.updateAddress validates creates customer address updated event apply event event store as uncommitted events do optimistic concurrency update against docdb pushing uncommitted events (single op to ensure consistency) publish event to service bus update docdb set events just published to commited = 1 (again one 1 op - at least in mongodb) transaction_complete

  • Ruby on Rails and database associations

    - by Marco
Hi to all, I'm new to the Ruby world, and there is something unclear to me in defining associations between models. The question is: where is the association saved? For example, if i create a Customer model by executing: generate model Customer name:string age:integer and then i create an Order model generate model Order description:text quantity:integer and then i set the association in the following way: class Customer < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :orders end class Order < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :customer end I think here is missing something, for example the foreign key between the two entities. How does it handle the associations created with the keywords "has_many" and "belongs_to" ? Thanks

  • Need help optimizing a NHibernate criteria query that uses Restrictions.In(..)

    - by Chris F
I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can do the following strictly using Criteria and DetachedCriteria via a subquery or some other way that is more optimal. NameGuidDto is nothing more than a lightweight object that has string and Guid properties. public IList<NameGuidDto> GetByManager(Employee manager) { // First, grab all of the Customers where the employee is a backup manager. // Access customers that are primarily managed via manager.ManagedCustomers. // I need this list to pass to Restrictions.In(..) below, but can I do it better?
