  hiii I am trying to launch activities under each tab. Since it's not officially supported, I found the backport of android.bluetooth API ( http://code.google.com/p/backport-android-bluetooth ). But when I deploy the sample chat application (modified for backport) LogCat gives me the error below: My question is, how I can use backport-android-bluetooth on 1.6 and is there any working samples? • WPF MVVM: TextBox and default Button binding does update too late

  I've got a simple WPF dialog with these two controls: <TextBox Text="{Binding MyText}"/> <Button Command="{Binding MyCommand}" IsDefault="True"/> Now, when I enter some text in the TextBox and click the button using the mouse, everything works like expected: the TextBox will set MyText and MyCommand is called. But when I enter some text and hit enter to "click" the default button, it does not work. Since on hitting enter the focus does not leave the TextBox, the binding will not be refresh MyText. So when MyCommand is called (which works), MyText will contain old data. How do I fix this in MVVM? In classic code-behind I probably just would call "MyButton.Focus()" in the MyCommand handler, but in MVVM the MyCommand handler does know nothing about the button. So what now`?

  Hi, In a C# WebBrowser control, I have generated a SELECT HtmlElement with a number of OPTION elements using w.RenderBeginTag(HtmlTextWriterTag.Select). I need to get the value of the select when the user changes it, and so added an event handler in the WebBrowser DocumentCompleted event. private void webBrowser1_DocumentCompleted(object sender, WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs e) { .... webBrowser1.Document.GetElementById("id_select_0").AttachEventHandler("onchange", new EventHandler(ddSelectedIndexChanged)); .... } protected void ddSelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { .... } The event handler does get called, but the sender parameter is null and e is empty. • Cannot run Android "Camera Preview" sample

  The sample I'm referring to is: CameraPreview. The program simply force closes upon start up. I've also tried other camera demos that have the same problem. I'm trying to run the samples on my Nexus One and the emulator with the same problem on both. I'm not even sure if the emulator should be able to run them or not. • C# System.Threading.Timer and its state object

  I am writing a C# program that uses System.Threading.Timer to timeout on a UDP socket ReceiveAsync call. My program polls a remote device, sending a UDP packet and expecting one in return. I use the timer in one shot mode calling Timer.Change every time I want a new timeout period. For every occurance of a timeout I'd like the timeout handler to have a different piece of information. If I change the object I pass to the Timer on creation it doesn't seem to change when the handler executes. Is the only way to do this to destroy the timer and create a new one? Thanks,

• Initiating UserControl via MVVM in WPF / focus issue.

  Hi there I have a few usercontrols loaded into a tabcontrol via MVVM in WPF. Within the XAML for the usercontrol I am setting focus to a textbox using the FocusManager, however this appears to only work when the first instance of the usercontrol is created. Just to test I added a loaded event handler to the usercontrol - this is only called on the first instance. I'm using data templates for the user controls as follows: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:UserTypeViewModel}"> <local:UserTypeView /> </DataTemplate> The textbox is focused as follows: FocusManager.FocusedElement="{Binding ElementName=txtName}" Additionally I'm using a global event handler (for the textbox GotFocus event) which selects all the text using a dispatcher. If anyone has any tips on how to achieve focus with every usercontrol I'd be very grateful. Thanks, Ben.

• Android: Strange out of memory issue

  I am not sure where to start to explain this one. I have a list view with a couple image buttons on each row. When you click the list row, it launches a new activity. If you review some of my other posts, I have had to build my own tabs because of an issue w/ the camera layout. The activity that gets launched for result is a map. If I click on my button to launch the image preview (load an image off the sd card) the application returns from the activity back to the listview activity to the result handler to relaunch my new activity which is nothing more than an image widget. So here is the issue, the image preview on the list view is being done w/ the cursor & listadapter. This makes it pretty simple, but I am not sure how I can put a resized (i.e. smaller bit size not pixel) image as the src for the imgbutton on the fly. So I just resized the image that came off the phone camera. The issue is that I get an out of memory error when it tries to go back and re-launch the 2nd activity. ** My question : is there a way I can build the list adapter easily row by row, where I can resize on the fly (bit wise)? - this would be preferable as I also need to make some changes to the properties of the widgets/elements in each row as I am unable to select a row w/ touch screen b/c of focus issue. (I can use roller ball). ** I know I can do an out of band resize and save of my image, but that is not really what I want to do, but some sample code for that would be nice if that is your suggestion. As soon as I disabled the image on the listview it worked fine again.   Hi, I cannot figure out the origin of the ConcurrentModificationException. In my activity I'm calling updateMapOverlay(). I'm also calling updateMapOverlay() inside another Thread (a TimerTask) that is invoked on regular intervals. I'm taking the appropriate locks when invoking updateMapOverlay() from both the threads. Is this problem being caused because I'm invoking updateMapOverlay from inside a non-UI thread (i.e., TimerTask).   Is there any way to Linkify a specific TextView that is contained within a ListView? I tried using android:autoLink="all" but that didn't work. I was getting an out of context error. Important also to note: the ListView is my second view in the ViewFlipper. I have also tried: View mItemView = mAdapter.getView(2, null, null); TextView infoText = (TextView) mItemView.findViewById(R.id.rowText2); Linkify.addLinks(infoText, Linkify.ALL); Right after the adapter was bound to the ListView and the View was switched.   Documentation for java.lang.Error says: An Error is a subclass of Throwable that indicates serious problems that a reasonable application should not try to catch But as java.lang.Error is subclass of java.lang.Throwable I can catch this type of throwable. I understand why this is not good idea to catch this sort of exceptions. As far as I understand, if we decide to caught it, the catch handler should not allocate any memory by itself. Otherwise OutOfMemoryError will be thrown again. So, my question is: is there any real word scenarios when catching java.lang.OutOfMemoryError may be a good idea? if we catching java.lang.OutOfMemoryError how can we sure that catch handler doesn't allocate any memory by itself (any tools or best practicies)?   I have created a custom URL protocol handler. http:// mailto:// custom:// I have registered a WinForms application to respond accordingly. This all works great. But I would like to be able to gracefully handle the case where the user doesn't have the custom URL protocol handler installed, yet. In order to be able to do this I need to be able to detect the browser's registered protocol handlers, I would assume from JavaScript. But I have been unable to find a way to poll for the information. I am hoping to find a solution to this problem. Thanks for any ideas you might be able to share.

• Insert a doctype into an XML document (Java/ SAX)

  Imagine you have an XML document and imagine you have the DTD but the document itself doesn't actually specify a DOCTYPE ... How would you insert the DOCTYPE declaration, preferably by specifying it on the parser (similar to how you can set the schema for a document that will be parsed) or by inserting the necessary SAX events via an XMLFilter or the like? I've found many references to EntityResolver, but that is what's invoked once a DOCTYPE is found during parsing and it's used to point to a local DTD file. EntityResolver2 appears to have what I'm looking for but I haven't found any examples of usage. But: A) if this module is invoked for non-asp.net application, then how or why would HttpApplication object still be created, since non-asp.net apps don’t run in the context of CLR ( and thus Asp.Net runtime also won’t run )? b) Assuming HttpApplication object is also created for non-asp.net apps, why then does the code inside Init() event handler have to check for whether HttpApplication object actually exists? Why wouldn’t it exist? Isn’t this HttpApplication object which actually instantiates Http module instance? • Passing parameters between interrupt handlers on a Cortex-M3 ...

  I'm building a light kernel for a Cortex-M3. From a high priority interrupt I'd like to invoke some code to run in a lower priority interrupt and pass some parameters along. I don't want to use a queue to post work to the lower priority interrupt. I just have a buffer and size to pass to it. In the proramming manual it says that the SVC interrupt handler is synchronous which presumably means that if you invoke it from an interrupt that's a lower priority than SVC's handler it gets called immediately (the upshot of this being that you can pass parameters to it as though it were a function call (a little like the BIOS calls in MS-DOS)). I'd like to do it the other way: passing parameters from a high priority interrupt to a lower priority one (at the moment I'm doing it by leaving the parameters in a fixed location in memory). What's the best way to do this (if at all possible)? Thanks,

  Right so i am working with hibernate gilead and gwt to persist my data on users and files of a website. my users have a list of file locations. i am using annotations to map my classes to the database. i am getting a org.hibernate.LazyInitializationException when i try to add file locations to the list that is held in the user class. this is a method below that is overridden from a external file upload servlet class that i am using. when the file uploads it calls this method. the user1 is loaded from the database elsewhere. the exception occurs at user1.getFileLocations().add(fileLocation);   Hi I would like receive an event where messageReceived does not get called within an expected time. • Custom Control Not Playing Nice With PropertyGrid

  I have a class that is implementing a custom ToolStripItem. Everything seems to work great until I try to add the item to a ContextMenuStrip at design time. If I try to add my custom control straight from the ContextMenuStrip the PropertyGrid freezes up and will not let me modify my Checked or Text properties. But if I go into the ContextMenuStrip PropertyGrid and add my custom control through the Items(...) property, I can modify the custom control just fine within that dialog. I'm not sure if I'm missing an attribute somewhere of if its a problem with the underlying code. Here is a copy of the CustomToolStripItem class. As you can see, its a very simple class. • Add a delay to OnContactDown events for Surface controls

  We're using the Controls.PreviewContactDown, PreviewContactUp, and PreviewContactChanged events to capture tagged items being placed, removed, and moved on the Surface, which works great in the Simulator application that comes with the surface. On an actual Surface if you moved a tagged item too quickly the cameras actually lose focus of the tag, assume it was removed, and then re-capture it when it stops moving. That provides a pretty poor experience for our clients. What I'm proposing is a way to override or create a new event that would respond to tagged item events, but not fire the event handler until after a delay... i.e. if "ContactUp" is fired, wait 100ms and THEN execute the event handler. Ideally we'd just be able to use an alternate attached property to define these event handlers, i.e. <Panel local:TagDown="TagDownEventHandler" /> And if we could get it to use ICommand objects instead of event handlers that'd be even better.
