  • Could not load type in Custom Profile provider

    - by Cragly
I am writing a small console application in C# that references a custom assembly that implements custom .net Profile provider. I have added the following sections to my app.config file which references the custom class and assembly. <system.web> <profile defaultProvider="MyCompanyProfileProvider" inherits="MyCompany.Web.User.GenericProfile" automaticSaveEnabled="false"> <providers> <clear/> <add name="MyCompanyProfileProvider" connectionStringName="defaultDatabase" applicationName="/myApplication" type="MyCompany.Web.ProfileProvider, MyCompany.Web"/> </providers> <properties> <add name="JobRoleId" type="System.Int32"/> <add name="LastCompetencyId" type="System.Int32" defaultValue="0"/> <add name="MixSettings" type="System.Xml.XmlDocument"/> </properties> </profile></system.web> However when I run the app in debug mode I get the following error as if it is looking in the System.Web assembly rather than one specified in the app.config file. Could not load type 'MyCompany.Web.User.GenericProfile' from assembly 'System.Web, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'. I have a local web app that also uses the assembly and custom Profile provider and that work without any problems. I have checked the referenced assembly is being copied to the output directory. Any ideas??

  • ODBC: Mapping of literal type names in create table statements

    - by matthias-meyer
I was wondering if data types in a a literal "create table" statement, executed over ODBC, are replaced with their database specific counterparts (platform is Windows/.Net/C#). I cannot find this feature in the ODBC docs, and there seems to be no list of literal "ODBC data types". However, I know that this works for Oracle, SQL Server and Access; the following statement is executed correctly, although the type LONGVARBINARY is no native type in all of these systems: CREATE TABLE (MYCOLUMN LONGVARBINARY) However, e.g. for Oracle the mapped native type depends on the used ODBC driver. Is this an undocumented feature? Is there a list of supported type names anywhere? Thanks!

  • specify content type of an attachment in sql server sp_send_dbmail

    - by SecretWiz
How can I specify the content type of an attachment when sending emails using sp_send_dbmail? The content type is specified as application/octet-stream for Zip, PDF files. But I need to change it to application/zip, application/pdf. The "file_attachments" parameter takes absolute paths of the attachments. Can not find a place to specify content type. I am using SQL Server 2005/2008 Please help. Thanks

  • Java Generics: Dealing with an intermediate unknown type

    - by Matt
I am trying to figure out a way to deal with a particular problem in a type safe manner, or to put it more specifically without any explicit casts. I have a class that takes in a generic request and returns a generic response like such: public class RetrievalProcessor<Req extends Request, Resp> implements RequestProcessor<Req, Resp>{ private Dao<Req> dao; private RawResponseTransformer<Resp> transformer; @Override public Resp process(Req request) { return transformer.transformResponse(dao.retrieveRawResponse(request)); } } My problem is the following. My Dao object can be many different things REST, JDBC, some other proprietary object. I can't be certain of the type of object that the Dao will return. I do know the type of object my caller would like and that is the Resp type on the generic, and the job of the RawResponseTransformer is to transform that Dao response into something that the caller can consume. The problem I have is I can't figure out a way that feels clean to do that. I have considered putting the intermediate type as part of the definition of the class, but it doesn't seem like the caller should know, or really care, what the intermediate form is. Hoping someone might have a good clean idea for handling this.

  • "type not defined" exception with WF4 RC

    - by avi1234
Hi, I`m gettin the following exception while invoking my workflow (dynamically): The following errors were encountered while processing the workflow tree: 'DynamicActivity': The private implementation of activity '1: DynamicActivity' has the following validation error: Compiler error(s) encountered processing expression "TryCast(simplerule_out,OutputBase2)". Type 'OutputBase2' is not defined. 'DynamicActivity': The private implementation of activity '1: DynamicActivity' has the following validation error: Compiler error(s) encountered processing expression "Res". Type 'OutputBase2' is not defined. Type 'OutputBase2' is not defined. 'DynamicActivity': The private implementation of activity '1: DynamicActivity' has the following validation error: Compiler error(s) encountered processing expression "New List(Of OutputBase2)". Type 'OutputBase2' is not defined. The workflow is very simple and worked fine on VS 2010 beta 2! All I`m trying to do is to create new list of my abstract custom type "OutputBase2". public class OutputBase2 { public OutputBase2() { } public bool Succeeded { get; set; } } class Example { public void Exec() { ActivityBuilder builder = new ActivityBuilder(); builder.Name = "act1"; var res = new DynamicActivityProperty { Name = "Res", Type = typeof(OutArgument<List<OutputBase2>>), Value = new OutArgument<List<OutputBase2>>() }; builder.Properties.Add(res); builder.Implementation = new Sequence(); ((Sequence)builder.Implementation).Activities.Add(new Assign<List<OutputBase2>> { To = new VisualBasicReference<List<OutputBase2>> { ExpressionText = res.Name }, Value = new VisualBasicValue<List<OutputBase2>>("New List(Of OutputBase2)") }); Activity act = getActivity(builder); var res2 = WorkflowInvoker.Invoke(act); } string getXamlStringFromActivityBuilder(ActivityBuilder activityBuilder) { string xamlString; StringBuilder stringBuilder = new StringBuilder(); System.IO.StringWriter stringWriter = new System.IO.StringWriter(stringBuilder); System.Xaml.XamlSchemaContext xamlSchemaContext = new System.Xaml.XamlSchemaContext(); System.Xaml.XamlXmlWriter xamlXmlWriter = new System.Xaml.XamlXmlWriter(stringWriter, xamlSchemaContext); System.Xaml.XamlWriter xamlWriter = System.Activities.XamlIntegration.ActivityXamlServices.CreateBuilderWriter(xamlXmlWriter); System.Xaml.XamlServices.Save(xamlWriter, activityBuilder); xamlString = stringBuilder.ToString(); return xamlString; } public Activity getActivity(ActivityBuilder t) { string xamlString = getXamlStringFromActivityBuilder(t); System.IO.StringReader stringReader = new System.IO.StringReader(xamlString); Activity activity = System.Activities.XamlIntegration.ActivityXamlServices.Load(stringReader); return activity; } } Thanks!

  • C# - Cast object to IList<T> based on Type

    - by blu
I am trying out a little reflection and have a question on how the cast the result object to an IList. Here is the reflection: private void LoadBars(Type barType) { // foo has a method that returns bars Type foo = typeof(Foo); MethodInfo method = foo.GetMethod("GetBars") .MakeGenericMethod(bar); object obj = method.Invoke(foo, new object[] { /* arguments here */ }); // how can we cast obj to an IList<Type> - barType } How can we cast the result of method.Invoke to an IList of Type from the barType argument?

  • Get CLSID by PIA interface Type

    - by Charles
How can I get the CLSID for a given interface within a Primary Interop Assembly? Here's what I'm talking about: // The c# compiler does some interesting magic. // The following code ... var app = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application(); // ... is compiled like so (disassembled with Reflector): var app =((Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application) Activator.CreateInstance(Type.GetTypeFromCLSID(new Guid("0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046")))); Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application is an interface, and therefore it cannot be instantiated directly. What's interesting here is that c# lets you treat these COM interfaces as if there where classes that you can instantiate with the new keyword. What I want to know is, given the System.Type for a given interface, how can I get the CLSID? Note: I ultimately want to be able to create an instance given the interface's System.Type - I don't really care how. I'm assuming here that the easiest way to do this would be to get CLSID given the Type, just as the c# compiler does.

  • Java Generics Type Safety warning with recursive Hashmap

    - by GC
Hi, I'm using a recursive tree of hashmaps, specifically Hashmap map where Object is a reference to another Hashmap and so on. This will be passed around a recursive algorithm: foo(String filename, Hashmap<String, Object> map) { //some stuff here for (Entry<String, Object> entry : map.entrySet()) { //type warning that must be suppressed foo(entry.getKey(), (HashMap<String, Object>)entry.getValue()); } } I know for sure Object is of type Hashmap<String, Object> but am irritated that I have to suppress the warning using @SuppressWarnings("unchecked"). I'll be satisfied with a solution that does either a assert(/*entry.getValue() is of type HashMap<String, Object>*/) or throws an exception when it isn't. I went down the Generics route for compile type safety and if I suppress the warning then it defeats the purpose. Thank you for your comments, ksb

  • Can't change data type on MS Access 2007

    - by khalidfazeli
Hi All, I have a huge database (800MB) which consists of a field called 'Date Last Modified' at the moment this field is entered as a text data type but need to change it to a Date/Time field to carry out some queries. I have another exact same database but with only 35MB of data inside it and when I change the data type it works fine, but when I try to change data type on big database it gives me an error: Micorosoft Office Access can't change the data type. There isn't enough disk space or memory After doing some research some sites mentioned of changing the registry file (MaxLocksPerFile) tried that as well, but no luck :-( Can anyone help please?

  • Cast to generic type in C#

    - by Andrej
I have a Dictionary to map a certain type to a certain generic object for that type. For example: typeof(LoginMessage) maps to MessageProcessor<LoginMessage> Now the problem is to retrieve this generic object at runtime from the Dictionary. Or to be more specific: To cast the retrieved object to the specific generic type. I need it to work something like this: Type key = message.GetType(); MessageProcessor<key> processor = messageProcessors[key] as MessageProcessor<key>; Hope there is a easy solution to this. Edit: I do not want to use Ifs and switches. Due to performance issues I cannot use reflection of some sort either.

  • gettype and unknown type in php

    - by justjoe
i just start to practice with php built-in, gettype() and its return value. This function is capable to return testing result such as boolean, integer, unknown type, etc. But among those testing result, there's one caught my eyes : unknown type. After reading gettype, and try to find some reference here, i can not get any. So, the question is what kind of type can be categorized as "unknown type" ? is it possible ? or am i just missing reading something ?

  • Delphi Unicode String Type Stored Directly at its Address

    - by Andreas Rejbrand
I want a string type that is Unicode and that stores the string directly at the adress of the variable, as is the case of the (Ansi-only) ShortString type. I mean, if I declare a S: ShortString and let S := 'My String', then, at @S, I will find the length of the string (as one byte, so the string cannot contain more than 255 characters) followed by the ANSI-encoded string itself. What I would like is a Unicode variant of this. That is, I want a string type such that, at @S, I will find a unsigned 32-bit integer containing the length of the string in bytes (or in characters, which is half the number of bytes) followed by the Unicode representation of the string. I have tried WideString, UnicodeString, and RawByteString, but they all appear only to store an adress at @S, and the actual string somewhere else (I guess this has do do with reference counting and such). I suspect that there is no built-in type to use, and that I have to come up with my own way of storing text the way I want (which actually is fun). Am I right?

  • Does C# have an equivalent to Scala's structural typing?

    - by Tom Morris
In Scala, I can define structural types as follows: type Pressable { def press(): Unit } This means that I can define a function or method which takes as an argument something that is Pressable, like this: def foo(i: Pressable) { // etc. The object which I pass to this function must have defined for it a method called press() that matches the type signature defined in the type - takes no arguments, returns Unit (Scala's version of void). I can even use the structural type inline: def foo(i: { def press(): Unit }) { // etc. It basically allows the programmer to have all the benefits of duck typing while still having the benefit of compile-time type checking. Does C# have something similar? I've Googled but can't find anything, but I'm not familiar with C# in any depth. If there aren't, are there any plans to add this?

  • MIDP 2.0 version issues: $method is undefined for $type

    - by Kilnr
Hi, I've written a MIDlet that does several "advanced" things: fetching images from the web, resizing them, saving them on the phone, displaying them. This all works perfectly in the Nokia S60 3rd Edition FP1 emulator. This device has MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 support (also JSR75, which I need in order to save files). It also works as it should on the Nokia E71 (physical device). I then tried to run the MIDlet on several other emulators. One of them, the DefaultCldcJtwiPhone2 from the Java ME SDK 3.0, also claims MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 support. It doesn't have JSR75, which explains why "FileConnection can not be resolved to a type". This does not, however, explain why List.deleteAll(), String.equalsIgnoreCase(String) and a few others are undefined. The actual errors that I get: The method ceil(double) is undefined for the type Math The method deleteAll() is undefined for the type List The method equalsIgnoreCase(String) is undefined for the type String The method getWidth() is undefined for the type Displayable When I look at the MIDP 2.0 (i.e. JSR118) API (http://java.sun.com/javame/reference/apis/jsr118/), I can clearly see all of these methods being present, with the "since" tag being either MIDP 2.0 or CLDC 1.1. My question: why doesn't an emulator with MIDP 2.0 support have access to all MIDP 2.0 methods? Or alternatively, what am I doing wrong?

  • XmlSerializer throws exception when serializing dynamically loaded type

    - by Dr. Sbaitso
    Hi I'm trying to use the System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer to serialize a dynamically loaded (and compiled class). If I build the class in question into the main assembly, everything works as expected. But if I compile and load the class from an dynamically loaded assembly, the XmlSerializer throws an exception. What am I doing wrong? I've created the following .NET 3.5 C# application to reproduce the issue: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Xml.Serialization; using System.Text; using System.Reflection; using System.CodeDom.Compiler; using Microsoft.CSharp; public class StaticallyBuiltClass { public class Item { public string Name { get; set; } public int Value { get; set; } } private List<Item> values = new List<Item>(); public List<Item> Values { get { return values; } set { values = value; } } } static class Program { static void Main() { RunStaticTest(); RunDynamicTest(); } static void RunStaticTest() { Console.WriteLine("-------------------------------------"); Console.WriteLine(" Serializing StaticallyBuiltClass..."); Console.WriteLine("-------------------------------------"); var stat = new StaticallyBuiltClass(); Serialize(stat.GetType(), stat); Console.WriteLine(); } static void RunDynamicTest() { Console.WriteLine("-------------------------------------"); Console.WriteLine(" Serializing DynamicallyBuiltClass..."); Console.WriteLine("-------------------------------------"); CSharpCodeProvider csProvider = new CSharpCodeProvider(new Dictionary<string, string> { { "CompilerVersion", "v3.5" } }); CompilerParameters csParams = new System.CodeDom.Compiler.CompilerParameters(); csParams.GenerateInMemory = true; csParams.GenerateExecutable = false; csParams.ReferencedAssemblies.Add("System.dll"); csParams.CompilerOptions = "/target:library"; StringBuilder classDef = new StringBuilder(); classDef.AppendLine("using System;"); classDef.AppendLine("using System.Collections.Generic;"); classDef.AppendLine(""); classDef.AppendLine("public class DynamicallyBuiltClass"); classDef.AppendLine("{"); classDef.AppendLine(" public class Item"); classDef.AppendLine(" {"); classDef.AppendLine(" public string Name { get; set; }"); classDef.AppendLine(" public int Value { get; set; }"); classDef.AppendLine(" }"); classDef.AppendLine(" private List<Item> values = new List<Item>();"); classDef.AppendLine(" public List<Item> Values { get { return values; } set { values = value; } }"); classDef.AppendLine("}"); CompilerResults res = csProvider.CompileAssemblyFromSource(csParams, new string[] { classDef.ToString() }); foreach (var line in res.Output) { Console.WriteLine(line); } Assembly asm = res.CompiledAssembly; if (asm != null) { Type t = asm.GetType("DynamicallyBuiltClass"); object o = t.InvokeMember("", BindingFlags.CreateInstance, null, null, null); Serialize(t, o); } Console.WriteLine(); } static void Serialize(Type type, object o) { var serializer = new XmlSerializer(type); try { serializer.Serialize(Console.Out, o); } catch(Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine("Exception caught while serializing " + type.ToString()); Exception e = ex; while (e != null) { Console.WriteLine(e.Message); e = e.InnerException; Console.Write("Inner: "); } Console.WriteLine("null"); Console.WriteLine(); Console.WriteLine("Stack trace:"); Console.WriteLine(ex.StackTrace); } } } which generates the following output: ------------------------------------- Serializing StaticallyBuiltClass... ------------------------------------- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="IBM437"?> <StaticallyBuiltClass xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Values /> </StaticallyBuiltClass> ------------------------------------- Serializing DynamicallyBuiltClass... ------------------------------------- Exception caught while serializing DynamicallyBuiltClass There was an error generating the XML document.   • How To Test if Type is Primitive

    - by DaveDev
Hi Guys I have a block of code that serializes a type into a Html tag. Type t = typeof(T); // I pass <T> in as a paramter, where myObj is of type T tagBuilder.Attributes.Add("class", t.Name); foreach (PropertyInfo prop in t.GetProperties()) { object propValue = prop.GetValue(myObj, null); string stringValue = propValue != null ? propValue.ToString() : String.Empty; tagBuilder.Attributes.Add(prop.Name, stringValue); } This works great, except I want it to only do this for primitive types, like string, int, double, bool etc. I want it to ignore everything else. Can anyone suggest how I do this? Or do I need to specify the types I want to allow somewhere and switch on the property's type to see if it's allowed? That's a little messy, so it'd be nice if I there was a tidier way.

  • PHP: Type hints for fields with Eclipse PDT

    - by Silvio Donnini
Using Eclipse + PDT, I know that you can specify the return type of a method or the type of a variable within a method via type hints. How about class fields? Can I declare the type of a field in order to enable autocompletion for that variable? I tried something on the lines of: class MyClass { protected $Field; /* @var $Field MyType */ ... but it doesn't work. Is there a way to achieve autocompletion of class fields with Eclipse and PDT? thanks, Silvio

  • Resolving the metadata token of a generic type parameter

    - by 280Z28
    Is there any way the .NET 4.0 (or earlier) reflection API to resolve a generic type parameter? See the two lines after my ArgumentException comment for my current attempt. [TestMethod] public void TestGenericParameterTokenResolution() { Type genericParameter = typeof(List<>).GetGenericArguments()[0]; Assert.IsTrue(genericParameter.IsGenericParameter); int metadataToken = genericParameter.MetadataToken; // make sure the metadata token is a GenericParam Assert.AreEqual(metadataToken & 0xFF000000, 0x2A000000); Module module = typeof(List<>).Module; // the following both throw an ArgumentException. Type resolvedParameter = module.ResolveType(metadataToken); resolvedParameter = (Type)module.ResolveMember(metadataToken); Assert.AreSame(genericParameter, resolvedParameter); }
