I found dozens of them in a Google search but I would appreciate if users who have experience with using such an IDE could recommend one.   I'm not expecting C# to be on par with say Java or Python in the open source community, but it still surprises me just how far behind it is. 'Multi language' open source repos like google code or github have barely any C# projects in comparison to the other languages I mentioned. I'd like to see C# and .Net shake off that slight corporate feel and move more into the open source arena but I just can't see that happening.   It seems to me it would be very useful to use Javascript for general server side scripting tasks as it has more or less the same features as Perl and Python. But AFAIK there are no generally available Javascript interpreters for the major machine architectures. I guess the other problem may be lack of libraries but surely these would come if the interpreters were there. Google's V8 maybe could be a starting point. Does anyone think we'll see this soon?
