• Run WF 4.0 as a server-side component

  Hi all, For a new project, we need to use WF 4.0 for deploying and running workflows. Instead of hosting workflows within the application itself, we decided to implement a server-side component that is in charge of running workflows. Before WF 4.0, one had explicit access to the the runtime engine (WorkflowRuntime), which provided some basic management functionalities, such as retrieving the workflows currently running etc ... As far as I could find out, WF 4.0 lacks this explicit access, as workflows are created via the WorkflowInstance class and no reference is immediately available to the WorkflowRuntime ... If I need these management functionalities on the server side, I'm a correct that I will need to implement these myself? Or did I miss out on something ... Thanks in advance for your answers!

  Hi I've read similar questions regarding that but still feel the need to ask a question. I have scenario where we have lots of tiny "features" pending for approval. I generally see two approaches. 1.Keep trunk solid and have tons of branches for each tiny "feature". Basically every new thingy is a branch. Cons: - Might become nightmare to support so many branches no matter how small a change. Keeping all branches in sync etc etc. - Worst con I see in this is setup of test system so one can easily examine changes to approve (basically need to support all branches which seems insane). Pros: - Seemningly easy once approved a branch to be merged back to trunk and new release to be tagged and deployed. 2.For big features a branch is released and for small changes all goes in trunk(relatively stable) directly. Pros: - Easier to set test system as most of the time all will be directly visible. For big features should be easy to maintain separate branch on test. Cons: - Don't really see how release will go. I will not be able to basically release one part of trunk This would involve cherrypicking which is crazy to follow. Other approach is I just enforce that after some time (a week or so) all small features need to be approved so they can deployed before giving new tasks. I just create release branch and either all or none of small features are going live. This will be some fun discussion with head people. I guess having lots of small pending stuff is very problematic to follow technically.

  Hi guys I am receiving the following exception when trying to run my unit tests using .net 4.0 under VS2010 with moq 3.1. Attempt by security transparent method 'SPPD.Backend.DataAccess.Test.Specs_for_Core.When_using_base.Can_create_mapper()' to access security critical method 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting.Assert.IsNotNull(System.Object)' failed. Assembly 'SPPD.Backend.DataAccess.Test, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is marked with the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute, and uses the level 2 security transparency model. Level 2 transparency causes all methods in AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers assemblies to become security transparent by default, which may be the cause of this exception. Anybody happen to know why, or have a workaround?

• XMPP4R Callbacks dont seem to work

  Im using xmpp4r and trying to get the hang of a basic chat feature that I wish to implement later in my Rails app. My fundamentals on Ruby Threads is still a bit shaky so I would appreciate any help on this. Though I register the callback i dont get a response from my gmail account. I am able to send a message but my ruby program terminates. • Having issue Deserializing array from an XML string

  I'm having issues trying to deserializing my xml string that was from a dataset.. Here is the XML layout.. <DataSet> <User> <UserName>Test</UserName> <Email>[email protected]</Email> <Details> <ID>1</ID> <Name>TestDetails</Name> <Value>1</Value> </Details <Details> <ID>2</ID> <Name>Testing</Name> <Value>3</Value> </Details </User> </DataSet> Now I am able to deserialize the "UserName" and "Email" when doing public class User { public string UserName {get;set;} public string Email {get;set;} public Details[] Details {get;set;} } public class Details { public int ID {get;set;} public string Name {get;set;} public string Value {get;set;} } This deserializes fine when I just get the user node, the Details isnt null but has no items in it.. i know I am suppose to have between all the details but I rather not modify the XML, anyways to get this to deserialize properly without recreating the XML after I get it?

  I have a database on line with Godaddy (who uses SQL Server 2005). They provide basic management tools, but tell you that for more advanced tools you can connect directly using SSMS. I followed their instructions to ensure my online database will accept remote connections, and can apparently log in using SSMS with success (after giving my hostname and access data). • Trouble getting $.ajax() to work in PhoneGap against a locally hosted server

  Currently trying to make an ajax post request to an IIS Express hosted MVC 4 Web API end point from an android VM (Bluestacks) on my machine. Here are the snippets of code that I am trying, and cannot get to work: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://10.0.2.2:28434/api/devices", data: {'EncryptedPassword':'1234','UserName':'test','DeviceToken':'d234'} }).always(function( data, textStatus, jqXHR ) { alert( textStatus ); }); Whenever I run this request I always get back a textStatus of 'error'.   While playing around with D 2.0 I found the following problem: Example 1: pure string[] run1() { string[] msg; msg ~= "Test"; msg ~= "this."; return msg; } This compiles and works as expected. When I try to wrap the string array in a class I find I can not get this to work: class TestPure { string[] msg; void addMsg( string s ) { msg ~= s; } }; pure TestPure run2() { TestPure t = new TestPure(); t.addMsg("Test"); t.addMsg("this."); return t; } This code will not compile because the addMsg function is impure. I can not make that function pure since it alters the TestPure object. Am i missing something? Or is this a limitation? The following does compile: pure TestPure run3() { TestPure t = new TestPure(); t.msg ~= "Test"; t.msg ~= "this."; return t; } Would the ~= operator not been implemented as a impure function of the msg array? How come the compiler does not complain about that in the run1 function?

Edit 2 I should have said that I´m testing some method implementations in an abstract class (edited the code to reflect this). Since I can not instantiate the class, how can I test this? I´m thinking in creating an SomeClassSimple extending SomeClassAbstract and testing this one instead. Is it the right approach?

  Can you recommend a full-text search engine? (Preferably open source) I have a database of many (though relatively short) HTML documents. I want users to be able to search this database by entering one or more search words in my C++ desktop application. Hence, I’m looking for a fast full-text search solution to integrate with my app. Ideally, it should: Skip common words, such as the, of, and, etc. Support stemming, i.e. search for run also finds documents containing runner, running and ran. Be able to update its index in the background as new documents are added to the database. Be able to provide search word suggestions (like Google Suggest) Have a well-documented API To illustrate, assume the database has just two documents: Document 1: This is a test of text search. Document 2: Testing is fun. The following words should be in the index: fun, search, test, testing, text. If the user types t in the search box, I want the application to be able to suggest test, testing and text (Ideally, the application should be able to query the search engine for the 10 most common search words starting with t). A search for testing should return both documents. Other points: I don't need multi-user support I don't need support for complex queries The database resides on the user's computer, so the indexing should be performed locally. Can you suggest a C or C++ based solution? (I’ve briefly reviewed CLucene and Xapian, but I’m not sure if either will address my needs, especially querying the search word indexes for the suggest feature).

• Add Ellipsis to a Path in a WinForms Program without Win32 API call (revisited)

  I was searching for a way to insert an ellipsis in a C# path, and found an answer here on stackoverflow: http://tinyurl.com/y6rmdfr Using the RTM versions of VS2010 and .Net 4.0, I was unable to get the suggested method to work. I searched the 'Net and found example code that uses the same method, but it failed in the same way. You can see the string I'm trying to shorten in my code below. After calling the MeasureText method, both the input string (OriginalName) and the output string (ellipsisedName) look like this: d:\abcd\efgh\ijkl\mnop\qrst\...\test.txt\0F\GHIJ\KLMN\OPQR\STIV\WXYZ\test.txt Two problems: 1) The resulting string is narfed (the path is truncated as expected, but is followed by what looks like a C-style terminating null and a chunk of the original path). 2) My original string is changed to be identical to the output string.   Hello, I'm trying to track the error thrown by SQL Server 2005. The problem is SQL Server reports it in my native language so it's hard for me to google it. I think that the core issue would be avialable in English in SQL Server LOGS. I'm running SQL Server Management Studio Express, going to "Management" node, and then SQL Server Logs. I can see the list of logs but I cannot enter them, the only available option in context menu is Refresh. Could you help me to show the contents of those logs?

  How do you classify a row of seperate cells in matlab? Atm I can classify single coloums like so: training = [1;0;-1;-2;4;0;1]; % this is the sample data. target_class = ['posi';'zero';'negi';'negi';'posi';'zero';'posi']; % target_class are the different target classes for the training data; here 'positive' and 'negetive' are the two classes for the given training data % Training and Testing the classifier (between positive and negative) test = 10*randn(25, 1); % this is for testing.   Hi there. Recently, I found a problem with Visual C++ 2008 compiler, but using minor hack avoid it. Currently, I cannot use the same hack, but problem exists as in 2008 as in 2010 (Express). So, I've prepared for you 2 simple C file: one for DLL, one for program: DLL (file-dll.c): #include <stdio.h> __declspec(dllexport) void print_to_stream (FILE *stream) { fprintf (stream, "OK!\n"); } And for program, which links this DLL via file-dll.lib: Program: #include <stdio.h> __declspec(dllimport) void print_to_stream (FILE *stream); int main (void) { print_to_stream (stdout); return 0; } To compile and link DLL: cl /LD file-dll.c To compile and link program: cl file-test.c file-dll.lib When invoking file-test.exe, I got the fatal error (similar to segmentation fault in UNIX). As I said early, I had that the same problem before: about transferring FILE* pointer to DLL. I thought, that it may be because of compiler mismatch, but now I'm using one compiler for everything and it's not the problem. ;-( What can I do now? UPD: I've found solution: cl /LD /MD file-dll.c cl /MD file-test.c file-dll.lib The key is to link to dynamic library, but (I did not know it) by default it links staticaly and (hencefore) error occurs (I see why). • Why does this data YYYY-MM-DD regex fail in Java?

  Hello StackOverFlow, My first question and Im excited... I've lurked since go-live and love the site, however I apologize for any newbie errors, formatting, etc... I'm attempting to validate the format of a string field that contains a date in Java. We will receive the date in a string, I will validate its format before parsing it into a real Date object. The format being passed in is in the YYYY-MM-DD format. However I'm stuck on one of my tests, if I pass in "1999-12-33" the test will fail (as it should with a day number 33) with this incomplete pattern: ((19|20)\\d{2})-([1-9]|0[1-9]|1[0-2])-([12][0-9]|3[01]) However as soon as I add the characters in bold below it passes the test (but should not) ((19|20)\\d{2})-([1-9]|0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(0[1-9]|[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01]) *additional note, I know I can change the 0[1-9]|[1-9] into 0?[1-9] but I wanted to break everything down to its most simple format to try and find why this isn't working. • increasing amazon root volume size

  I have a default amazon ec2 instance with 8GB root volume size. I am running out of space. I have: Detach the current EBS volume in AWS Management Console (Web). Create snapshot of this volume. Created a new Volume with 50G space with my snapshot. Attach the new volume back to the instance to /dev/sda1 However, when I reconnect to the account with: > df -h I can see from the management console that my new Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/xvda1 8256952 8173624 0 100% / tmpfs 308508 40 308468 1% /dev/shm It's still not using my new volume's size, how to make this work?

  Hey Guys, Consider this code sample: public class Human { public string Value { get; set;} } public class Car { public static explicit operator Human (Car c) { Human h = new Human(); h.Value = "Value from Car"; return h; } } public class Program { public static void Mani() { Car c = new Car(); Human h = (Human)c; Console.WriteLine("h.Value = {0}", h.Value); Console.WriteLine(c is Human); } } Up I provide a possibility of an explicit cast from Car to Human, though Car and Human hierarchically are not related! The above code simply means that "Car is convertible to human" However, if you run the snippet you will find the expression c is Human evaluates to false! I used to believe that the is operator is kinda expensive cause it attempts to do an actual cast that might result in an InvalidCastException. If the operator is trying to cast, then the cast should succeed as there's an operator logic that should perform the cast! What does "is" test? Does test a hierarchical "is-a" relationship? Does test whether a variable type is convertible to a type?

• Rails rspec expects Admin::PostsController, which is there.

  I have a file app/controllers/admin/posts_controller.rb class Admin::PostsController < ApplicationController layout 'admin' # GET /admin/posts def index @pposts = Post.paginate :page => params[:page], :order => 'created_at DESC' end # ...Many more standard CRUD/REST methods... end And an rspec test spec/controllers/admin/posts_controller_spec.rb require 'spec_helper' describe Admin::PostsController do describe "GET 'index'" do it "should be successful" do get 'index' response.should be_success end end #...many more test for all CRUD/REST methods end However, running that spec throws an error. I have no idea what that error means, nor how to start solving it. /home/...../active_support/dependencies.rb:492:in `load_missing_constant': Expected /home/...../app/controllers/admin/posts_controller.rb to define Admin::PostsController (LoadError) I may have it all set up wrong, or may be doing something really silly, but all I want is my CRUD actions on /admin, with separate before filters and a separate layout. And to test these controllers. EDIT ZOMG, made a terrible copy-paste error into this SO posting. The controller was PostsController, not the PagesController that I pasted into there. Problem still stands, as my code is correct, just the SO post, here was wrong.

• Poor DB4O performance - What am I doing wrong?

  I read Rob Conery's post about Object databases and thought I'd give it a go. I have a class lets say Book with 15 properties mostly string, some int, one Datetime and 2 decimals. I used Rob's code to open the database file etc to test on a Winforms project not a Web project. So I did the following: for(int i = 0; i < 1000000; i++) { var Book = new Book(); //Assign variables s.Save(Book); } s.CommitChanges(); This took at least a couple of minutes. I then tried to retrieve all data to test speed: var spp = s.All<Passports>(); This one line was quick, however, then doing: sppp.Count() as well as a seperate test doing a foreach loop and incrementing a counter took a couple of minutes. This seems quite slow to me. Am I doing something wrong or am I expecting too much?
