However, whenever Thunderbird checks the mail for me, it moves my mail from the inbox (on GMail) to the "All Mail" folder. How can I prevent it from doing this?

  I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and one feature that seems to be different (from Leopard) is that setting the default "arrange by" option doesn't affect all files and folders, and only changes the currently open folder. Is there a way to do this so these settings stay persistent for all files and folders?

  Hi, I'm trying to mount a folder located at 10.0.0.1:/pxe/ on eth1 but I'm not sure how to do this with two NICs enabled. The command mount 10.0.0.1:/pxe/ /mnt/pxe/ works fine when I only am using the one NIC the appropriate machine is on, but how can I specify to use eth1 when eth0 is also enabled? Thank you.

  I have a small batch file which xcopies some files from one folder to another which I've scheduled (via windows scheduled tasks) to run every 1 hour: @echo off xcopy c:\foo c:\bar /E /C /F /Y Since this is my workstation, I'm most probably doing work when the task executes, and then the black dos console window is displayed (lasts 2-3 seconds) and steals window focus. I don't wish to see the files copied and of course the batch file does not ask for any user input. Is there a way to avoid displaying the console completely?

  Hi, on Mac, you know there is no 'merge files' when you command+c/command+v some folder on another one, it actually replaces it. I'm simply wondering on what UNIX is this based? Because correct me if I'm wrong, but "cp - R" DOES merge files, no? And that's what I'm doing via the Finder, copying some files and folders... thanks!

  I have the official Adobe x64 iFilter PDF plug-in and the FoxIt Software iFilter PDF plug-in installed, and neither one seems to be allowing me to index the contents of PDF files. So far, I've: Added my data folder into the Indexing service configuration Ensured that PDF files are configured to index "file properties and contents" Rebuilt the index from scratch But, when I search, I can only search for PDF file names, not the contents of them.   I would like to create custom backup sets for Mozy which exclude certain directories. For example, I would like to backup my Itunes folder, but exclude all podcasts. I have created a backup set which searches in /Users/me/Music and used this query kMDItemPath == "*Podcasts*"wc to exclude all matching files. However, nothing matches. Queries which use the kMDItemFSName spotlight attribute work fine, but any query using kMDItemPath doesn't seem to work at all. What am I doing wrong?

I'm looking for a GUI tool to open up the contets and extract needed files. On windows I would use WinRar to do this. K3B only allows me to burn the stuff, Arch does not work with ISO files :( Is there a similar tool on Linux, preferably from KDE world?

• Outlook 2003: How to display my own messages in conversation view?

  When I select View-Arrange By-Conversation in Outlook 2003, the messages I sent myself are not shown in the message threads (unlike the conversation view in say, Gmail). To show my own messages I have to go to the Sent Items folder, if not someone has replied to one of my messages and included my original text.   I use Microsoft SkyDrive and Google Drive. I was wondering if it was possible to map to a folder on a cloud service via FTP or something similar? I don't see any obvious ways on Google, or SkyDrive web sites. I know they each have their custom applications to access the cloud storage files. But my network admins block traffic on those applications. So I was looking for another way to access the files (not through the web site either).
