  • Is it possible to run locally JRuby on Google App Engine without restarting server on every change?

    - by elado
Unfortunately, GAE requires restart of the server on each code change. Is it possible to prevent it and have immediate feedback after code save? Or, can I import Google App Engine's API into my ruby code and run it on Sinatra server? Tried this but it fails on "import com.google.appengine.api" (it doesn't know what 'com' is). For Sinatra, I use "Rerun" ( http://github.com/alexch/rerun ) which restarts server immediately after a change with minimum wait. Thanks.

  • Natural vs surrogate keys on support tables

    - by Bugeo
I have read many articles about the battle between natural versus surrogate primary keys. I agree in the use of surrogate keys to identify records of tables whose contents are created by the user. But in the case of supporting tables what should I use? For example, in a hypothetical table "orderStates". If you use a natural key would have the following data: TABLE ORDERSTATES {ID: "NEW", NAME: "New"} {ID: "MANAGEMENT" NAME: "Management"} {ID: "SHIPPED" NAME: "Shipped"} If I use a surrogate key would have the following data: TABLE ORDERSTATES {ID: 1 CODE: "NEW", NAME: "New"} {ID: 2 CODE: "MANAGEMENT" NAME: "Management"} {ID: 3 CODE: "SHIPPED" NAME: "Shipped"} Now let's take an example: a user enters a new order. In the case in which use natural keys, in the code I can write this: newOrder.StateOrderId = "NEW"; With the surrogate keys instead every time I have an additional step. stateOrderId_NEW = .... I retrieve the id corresponding to the recod code "NEW" newOrder.StateOrderId = stateOrderId_NEW; The same will happen every time I have to move the order in a new status. So, in this case, what are the reason to chose one key type vs the other one?

  • How cross-platform .Net framework really is?

    - by Ivan
What is normally to be done to run a WinForms application on a Mac or Linux machine? a. Just copy and run (assuming they have a Framework installed). b. Rebuild. c. Cosmetic source code modifications. d. Heavy source code modifications and forms redesign. Assuming that the application is developed as 100% managed C# 3 code by means Visual C# Express or Visual Studio 2008 targeting .Net Framework 3.5, developed without using any 3-rd party components/libraries, without encapsulating nonmanaged code or any low-level hacks - only standard Microsoft-documented .Net Framework C# API used). Or the same conditions but C# 4 language, .Net Framework 4 and Visual Studio 2010.

  • C# huge size 2-dim arrays

    - by 4eburek
I need to declare square matrices in C# WinForms with more than 20000 items in a row. I read about 2GB .Net object size limit in 32bit and also the same case in 64bit OS. So as I understood the single answer - is using unsafe code or separate library built withing C++ compiler. The problem for me is worth because ushort[20000,20000] is smaller then 2GB but actually I cannot allocate even 700MB of memory. My limit is 650MB and I don't understand why - I have 32bit WinXP with 3GB of memory. I tried to use Marshal.AllocHGlobal(700<<20) but it throws OutOfMemoryException, GC.GetTotalMemory returns 4.5MB before trying to allocate memory. I found only that many people say use unsafe code but I cannot find example of how to declare 2-dim array in heap (any stack can't keep so huge amount of data) and how to work with it using pointers. Is it pure C++ code inside of unsafe{} brackets? Could you please provide a small example of working with matrices using pointers in unsafe code.

  • Add two 32-bit integers in Assembler for use in VB6

    - by Emtucifor
I would like to come up with the byte code in assembler (assembly?) for Windows machines to add two 32-bit longs and throw away the carry bit. I realize the "Windows machines" part is a little vague, but I'm assuming that the bytes for ADD are pretty much the same in all modern Intel instruction sets. I'm just trying to abuse VB a little and make some things faster. So... if the string "8A4C240833C0F6C1E075068B442404D3E0C20800" is the assembly code for SHL that can be "injected" into a VB6 program for a fast SHL operation expecting two Long parameters (we're ignoring here that 32-bit longs in VB6 are signed, just pretend they are unsigned), what is the hex string of bytes representing assembler instructions that will do the same thing to return the sum? The hex code above for SHL is, according to the author: mov eax, [esp+4] mov cl, [esp+8] shl eax, cl ret 8 I spit those bytes into a file and tried unassembling them in a windows command prompt using the old debug utility, but I figured out it's not working with the newer instruction set because it didn't like EAX when I tried assembling something but it was happy with AX. I know from comments in the source code that SHL EAX, CL is D3E0, but I don't have any reference to know what the bytes are for instruction ADD EAX, CL or I'd try it. I tried flat assembler and am not getting anything I can figure out how to use. I used it to assemble the original SHL code and got a very different result, not the same bytes. Help?

  • PHP: Infinity loop and Time Limit!

    - by Jonathan
Hi, I have a piece of code that fetches data by giving it an ID. If I give it an ID of 1230 for example, the code fetches an article data with an ID of 1230 from a web site (external) and insert it into a DB. Now, the problem is that I need to fetch all the articles, lets say from ID 00001 to 99999. If a do a 'for' loop, after 60 seconds the PHP internal time limit stops the loop. If a use some kind of header("Location: code.php?id=00001") or header("Location: code.php?id=".$ID) and increase $ID++ and then redirect to the same page the browser stops me because of the infinite loop or redirection problem. Please HELP!

  • Loading url with cyrillic symbols

    - by Ockonal
Hi guys, I have to load some url with cyrillic symbols. My script should work with this: http://wincode.org/%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B3%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%BC%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B5/ If I'll use this in browser it would replaced into normal symbols, but urllib code fails with 404 error. How to decode correctly this url? When I'm using that url directly in code, like address = 'that address', it works perfect. But I used parsing page for getting this url. I have a list of urls which contents cyrillic. Maybe they have uncorrect encoding? Here is more code: requestData = urllib2.Request( %SOME_ADDRESS%, None, {"User-Agent": user_agent}) requestHandler = pageHandler.open(requestData) pageData = requestHandler.read().decode('utf-8') soupHandler = BeautifulSoup(pageData) topicLinks = [] for postBlock in soupHandler.findAll('a', href=re.compile('%SOME_REGEXP%')): topicLinks.append(postBlock['href']) postAddress = choice(topicLinks) postRequestData = urllib2.Request(postAddress, None, {"User-Agent": user_agent}) postHandler = pageHandler.open(postRequestData) postData = postHandler.read() File "/usr/lib/python2.6/urllib2.py", line 518, in http_error_default raise HTTPError(req.get_full_url(), code, msg, hdrs, fp) urllib2.HTTPError: HTTP Error 404: Not Found

  • Google App Engine with local Django 1.1 gets Intermittent Failures

    - by Jon Watte
I'm using the Windows Launcher development environment for Google App Engine. I have downloaded Django 1.1.2 source, and un-tarrred the "django" subdirectory to live within my application directory (a peer of app.yaml) At the top of each .py source file, I do this: import settings import os os.environ["DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE"] = 'settings' In my file settings.py (which lives at the root of the app directory, as well), I do this: DEBUG = True TEMPLATE_DIRS = ('html') INSTALLED_APPS = ('filters') import os os.environ["DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE"] = 'settings' from google.appengine.dist import use_library use_library('django', '1.1') from django.template import loader Yes, this looks a bit like overkill, doesn't it? I only use django.template. I don't explicitly use any other part of django. However, intermittently I get one of two errors: 1) Django complains that DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE is not defined. 2) Django complains that common.html (a template I'm extending in other templates) doesn't exist. 95% of the time, these errors are not encountered, and they randomly just start happening. Once in that state, the local server seems "wedged" and re-booting it generally fixes it. What's causing this to happen, and what can I do about it? How can I even debug it? Here is the traceback from the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\code\kwbudget\edit_budget.py", line 34, in get self.response.out.write(t.render(template.Context(values))) File "C:\code\kwbudget\django\template\__init__.py", line 165, in render return self.nodelist.render(context) File "C:\code\kwbudget\django\template\__init__.py", line 784, in render bits.append(self.render_node(node, context)) File "C:\code\kwbudget\django\template\__init__.py", line 797, in render_node return node.render(context) File "C:\code\kwbudget\django\template\loader_tags.py", line 71, in render compiled_parent = self.get_parent(context) File "C:\code\kwbudget\django\template\loader_tags.py", line 66, in get_parent raise TemplateSyntaxError, "Template %r cannot be extended, because it doesn't exist" % parent TemplateSyntaxError: Template u'common.html' cannot be extended, because it doesn't exist And edit_budget.py starts with exactly the lines that I included up top. All templates live in a directory named "html" in my root directory, and "html/common.html" exists. I know the template engine finds them, because I start out with "html/edit_budget.html" which extends common.html. It looks as if the settings module somehow isn't applied (because that's what adds html to the search path for templates).

  • Checking for nil in view in Ruby on Rails

    - by seaneshbaugh
I've been working with Rails for a while now and one thing I find myself constantly doing is checking to see if some attribute or object is nil in my view code before I display it. I'm starting to wonder if this is always the best idea. My rationale so far has been that since my application(s) rely on user input unexpected things can occur. If I've learned one thing from programming in general it's that users inputting things the programmer didn't think of is one of the biggest sources of run-time errors. By checking for nil values I'm hoping to sidestep that and have my views gracefully handle the problem. The thing is though I typically for various reasons have similar nil or invalid value checks in either my model or controller code. I wouldn't call it code duplication in the strictest sense, but it just doesn't seem very DRY. If I've already checked for nil objects in my controller is it okay if my view just assumes the object truly isn't nil? For attributes that can be nil that are displayed it makes sense to me to check every time, but for the objects themselves I'm not sure what is the best practice. Here's a simplified, but typical example of what I'm talking about: controller code def show @item = Item.find_by_id(params[:id]) @folders = Folder.find(:all, :order => 'display_order') if @item == nil or @item.folder == nil redirect_to(root_url) and return end end view code <% if @item != nil %> display the item's attributes here <% if @item.folder != nil %> <%= link_to @item.folder.name, folder_path(@item.folder) %> <% end %> <% else %> Oops! Looks like something went horribly wrong! <% end %> Is this a good idea or is it just silly?

  • GPL License in closed source application

    - by Alec Smart
Hello, This question has been asked multiple times I know. From what I understand, broadly speaking, if I include a GPL module in my app, I have to also release my app's source code for free. Now if the module is a java app (which I have modified) and included in my own java app, and say I use it as an applet on my website, do I need to distribute the source code to all the users visiting the website? Can I distribute the code only to people who ask for it? If I sell my applet, do I need to distribute the source code to all the users or ONLY to the users who purchase my applet? Thank you very much for your time.

  • PHP - My array returns NULL values when placed in a function, but works fine outside of the function

    - by orbit82
    Okay, let me see if I can explain this. I am making a newspaper WordPress theme. The theme pulls posts from categories. The front page shows multiple categories, organized as "newsboxes". Each post should show up only ONCE on the front page, even if said post is in two or more categories. To prevent posts from duplicating on the front page, I've created an array that keeps track of the individual post IDs. When a post FIRST shows up on the front page, its ID gets added to the array. Before looping through the posts for each category, the code first checks the array to see which posts have ALREADY been displayed. OK, so now remember how I said earlier that the front page shows multiple categories organized as "newsboxes"? Well, these newsboxes are called onto the front page using PHP includes. I have 6 newsboxes appearing on the front page, and the code to call them is EXACTLY the same. I didn't want to repeat the same code 6 times, so I put all of the inclusion code into a function. The function works, but the only problem is that it screws up the duplicate posts code I mentioned earlier. The posts all repeat. Running a var_dump on the $do_not_duplicate variable returns an array with null indices. Everything works PERFECTLY if I don't put the code inside a function, but once I do put them in a function it's like the arrays aren't even connecting with the posts. Here is the code with the arrays. The key variables in question here include $do_not_duplicate[] = $post-ID, $do_not_duplicate and 'post__not_in' = $do_not_duplicate <?php query_posts('cat='.$settings['cpress_top_story_category'].'&posts_per_page='.$settings['cpress_number_of_top_stories'].'');?> <?php if (have_posts()) : ?> <!--TOP STORY--> <div id="topStory"> <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); $do_not_duplicate[] = $post->ID; ?> <a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to <?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><?php the_post_thumbnail('top-story-thumbnail'); ?></a> <h2 class="extraLargeHeadline"><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to <?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h2> <div class="topStory_author"><?php cpress_show_post_author_byline(); ?></div> <div <?php post_class('topStory_entry') ?> id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>"> <?php if($settings['cpress_excerpt_or_content_top_story_newsbox'] == "content") { the_content(); ?><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><span class="read_more"><?php echo $settings['cpress_more_text']; ?></span></a> <?php } else { the_excerpt(); ?><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><span class="read_more"><?php echo $settings['cpress_more_text']; ?></span></a> <?php }?> </div><!--/topStoryentry--> <div class="topStory_meta"><?php cpress_show_post_meta(); ?></div> <?php endwhile; wp_reset_query(); ?> <?php if(!$settings['cpress_hide_top_story_more_stories']) { ?> <!--More Top Stories--><div id="moreTopStories"> <?php $category_link = get_category_link(''.$settings['cpress_top_story_category'].''); ?> <?php if (have_posts()) : ?> <?php query_posts( array( 'cat' => ''.$settings['cpress_top_story_category'].'', 'posts_per_page' => ''.$settings['cpress_number_of_more_top_stories'].'', 'post__not_in' => $do_not_duplicate ) ); ?> <h4 class="moreStories"> <?php if($settings['cpress_make_top_story_more_stories_link']) { ?> <a href="<?php echo $category_link; ?>" title="<?php echo strip_tags($settings['cpress_top_story_more_stories_text']);?>"><?php echo strip_tags($settings['cpress_top_story_more_stories_text']);?></a><?php } else { echo strip_tags($settings['cpress_top_story_more_stories_text']); } ?> </h4> <ul> <?php while( have_posts() ) : the_post(); $do_not_duplicate[] = $post->ID; ?> <li><h2 class="mediumHeadline"><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to <?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h2> <?php if(!$settings['cpress_hide_more_top_stories_excerpt']) { ?> <div <?php post_class('moreTopStory_postExcerpt') ?> id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>"><?php if($settings['cpress_excerpt_or_content_top_story_newsbox'] == "content") { the_content(); ?><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><span class="read_more"><?php echo $settings['cpress_more_text']; ?></span></a> <?php } else { the_excerpt(); ?> <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><span class="read_more"><?php echo $settings['cpress_more_text']; ?></span></a> <?php }?> </div><?php } ?> <div class="moreTopStory_postMeta"><?php cpress_show_post_meta(); ?></div> </li> <?php endwhile; wp_reset_query(); ?> </ul> <?php endif;?> </div><!--/moreTopStories--> <?php } ?> <?php echo(var_dump($do_not_duplicate)); ?> </div><!--/TOP STORY--> <?php endif; ?> And here is the code that includes the newsboxes onto the front page. This is the code I'm trying to put into a function to avoid duplicating it 6 times on one page. function cpress_show_templatebitsf($tbit_num, $tbit_option) { global $tbit_path; global $shortname; $settings = get_option($shortname.'_options'); //display the templatebits (usually these will be sidebars) for ($i=1; $i<=$tbit_num; $i++) { $tbit = strip_tags($settings[$tbit_option .$i]); if($tbit !="") { include_once(TEMPLATEPATH . $tbit_path. $tbit.'.php'); } //if }//for loop unset($tbit_option); } I hope this makes sense. It's kind of a complex thing to explain but I've tried many things to fix it and have had no luck. I'm stumped. I'm hoping it's just some little thing I'm overlooking because it seems like it shouldn't be such a problem.

  • Strip out C Style Multi-line Comments

    - by Olaseni
I have a C# string object that contains the code of a generic method, preceded by some standard C-Style multi-line comments. I figured I could use System.Text.RegularExpressions to remove the comment block, but I can seem to be able to get it to work. I tried: code = Regex.Replace(code,@"/\*.*?\*/",""); Can I be pointed in the right direction?

  • Do I have to create a static library to test my application?

    - by Christopher Gateley
I'm just getting started with TDD and am curious as to what approaches others take to run their tests. For reference, I am using the google testing framework, but I believe the question is applicable to most other testing frameworks and to languages other than C/C++. My general approach so far has been to do either one of three things: Write the majority of the application in a static library, then create two executables. One executable is the application itself, while the other is the test runner with all of the tests. Both link to the static library. Embed the testing code directly into the application itself, and enable or disable the testing code using compiler flags. This is probably the best approach I've used so far, but clutters up the code a bit. Embed the testing code directly into the application itself, and, given certain command-line switches either run the application itself or run the tests embedded in the application. None of these solutions are particularly elegant... How do you do it?

  • How to get the current exception without having passing the variable?

    - by Pierre-Alain Vigeant
I am looking for a way to retrieve the current exception without having to pass it as a variable. Suppose the following code public void MakeItFail() { try { throw new FailException(); } catch // Yes I'm aware that this shouldn't be done, but I don't want to go through all the code base and change it { ShowMessage("An error occured"); } } public void ShowMessage(string message) { // How can I retrieve the exception here } In the watch window, I can use $exception to get the current exception. Is there is a code equivalent?

  • Does the order I declare pointers really matter in C? getcwd() problem...

    - by chucknelson
On a Solaris 5.8 machine, I have the following code: [non-working code] char *buf; char *dir; size_t psize; psize = (size_t) 1024; dir = getcwd(buf, psize); On this unix machine, the above does not work and I get a segmentation fault when trying to run the program. It only works if I declare dir before buf: [working code] char *dir; char *buf; ... dir = getcwd(buf, psize); When using another flavor of Unix, such as Mac OS X, I don't get any of these what seem to be very strict rules on how to write the code. Can anyone explain what's going on with the above example? Thanks!

  • Why does Microsoft advise against readonly fields with mutable values?

    - by Weeble
In the Design Guidelines for Developing Class Libraries, Microsoft say: Do not assign instances of mutable types to read-only fields. The objects created using a mutable type can be modified after they are created. For example, arrays and most collections are mutable types while Int32, Uri, and String are immutable types. For fields that hold a mutable reference type, the read-only modifier prevents the field value from being overwritten but does not protect the mutable type from modification. This simply restates the behaviour of readonly without explaining why it's bad to use readonly. The implication appears to be that many people do not understand what "readonly" does and will wrongly expect readonly fields to be deeply immutable. In effect it advises using "readonly" as code documentation indicating deep immutability - despite the fact that the compiler has no way to enforce this - and disallows its use for its normal function: to ensure that the value of the field doesn't change after the object has been constructed. I feel uneasy with this recommendation to use "readonly" to indicate something other than its normal meaning understood by the compiler. I feel that it encourages people to misunderstand the meaning of "readonly", and furthermore to expect it to mean something that the author of the code might not intend. I feel that it precludes using it in places it could be useful - e.g. to show that some relationship between two mutable objects remains unchanged for the lifetime of one of those objects. The notion of assuming that readers do not understand the meaning of "readonly" also appears to be in contradiction to other advice from Microsoft, such as FxCop's "Do not initialize unnecessarily" rule, which assumes readers of your code to be experts in the language and should know that (for example) bool fields are automatically initialised to false, and stops you from providing the redundancy that shows "yes, this has been consciously set to false; I didn't just forget to initialize it". So, first and foremost, why do Microsoft advise against use of readonly for references to mutable types? I'd also be interested to know: Do you follow this Design Guideline in all your code? What do you expect when you see "readonly" in a piece of code you didn't write?

  • button of MDImenu can't disenable in VS2008

    - by colorlee
Hi everyone. i had just started to learn VB and VS2008 and im doing some system due to my homework. i made a WELCOME form with a timer, 5s to pass to the next form which called Select. After passed to next form, itll me.visible = false. Theres 3 buttons on the Select form which call Customer, Staff and Exit. As i had just start, the button Customer will pass to a MDI menu call Customer Menu with a menu strip button called Quotation. Same, Select will me.visible = false when done. Then a problem occured, i made a Quotation inside the Customer Menu, such as the mdiparent of Quotation is Customer. I expected that the Quotation button will disenable to press after i pressed that button. But i fail to do that. And the code below: This is the code of MDI menu Customer Menu: Public Class frmCustomer Private Sub ExitToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ExitToolStripMenuItem.Click End End Sub Private Sub AboutUsToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles AboutUsToolStripMenuItem.Click Dim frm As New AboutMamatai AboutMamatai.ShowDialog() End Sub Private Sub frmCustomer_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load frmQuotation.MdiParent = Me frmQuotation.Show() frmQuotation.Dock = DockStyle.Fill Me.Location = New Point(220, 180) End Sub Private Sub QuotationToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles QuotationToolStripMenuItem.Click frmQuotation.MdiParent = Me frmQuotation.Show() frmQuotation.Dock = DockStyle.Fill End Sub End Class This is the code of the form inside the Customer menu: Public Class frmQuotation Private Sub btnExit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExit.Click frmCustomer.QuotationToolStripMenuItem.Enabled = True Me.Close() End Sub Private Sub frmQuotation_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load frmCustomer.QuotationToolStripMenuItem.Enabled = False End Sub End Class When im tryin to solve this problem, i found that the problem may cause of the me.visible = false of the Select form and Welcome form. Becoz when i set the Customer Menu be the first form to run. The problem is not exist. Is there anyone can help me ? P.S. I guess if the other two forms code is needed so i post them also This is the code of WELCOME form : Public Class frmWELCOME Private Sub frmWELCOME_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.Location = New Point(270, 210) Timer1.Enabled = True End Sub Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick Timer1.Enabled = False Dim frm As New frmSelect frm.Show() Me.Visible = False End Sub Private Sub btnSkip_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSkip.Click Timer1.Enabled = False Dim frm As New frmSelect frm.Show() Me.Visible = False End Sub End Class This is the code of Select Form: Public Class frmSelect Private Sub btnCustomer_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCustomer.Click Dim frm As New frmCustomer frm.Show() Me.Visible = False End Sub Private Sub btnStaff_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnStaff.Click Dim frm As New frmStaff frm.Show() Me.Visible = False End Sub Private Sub btnExit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExit.Click End End Sub Private Sub frmSelect_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.Location = New Point(390, 250) End Sub End Class

Here is my scenario: i have a parent web page, in my javascript code I open a new window. This new window is a server-side aspx page. This child page needs to save some data in the database, and after saving it returns an ID. Now, I need to pass this ID from the child server page to the parent's javascript. Essentially I need the child server code to trigger: 1) return the value to the javascript code of the parent page 2) close itself What would be the acceptable way to do it?

  • Explanation of contribute_to_class

    - by anon.
I'm attempted to extend code, and have come across an issue, I don't understand a line of code. I know the outcome of it - but I don't understand how it happens and am naturally enough scared to change it. The line of code I've come across is this: MyGenericRelation().contribute_to_class(model, 'field_name') The result of this code is a field with 'field_name' is added to the 'model' and from what I gather the objects inside the field are a list of type X (part of MyGenericRelation). I'm wondering if anyone can explain how this works. As in, why do I get a list of X objects attached to 'field_name' and if does it have to be generic relations prior to contribute_to_class or would using an actual model type, say 'Y' just give me a list of Y's. To be honest, I am more interested in the affect and functionality of the contribute_to_class method.

  • Theory: Can JIT Compiler be used to parse the whole program first, then execute later?

    - by unknownthreat
Normally, JIT Compiler works by reads the byte code, translate it into machine code, and execute it. This is what I understand, but in theory, is it possible to make the JIT Compiler parses the whole program first, then execute the program later as machine code? I do not know how JIT Compiler works technically and exactly, so I don't know any feasibility in this case. But theoretically, is it possible? Or am I doing it wrong?
