• Extending Python’s int type to accept only values within a given range

  I would like to create a custom data type which basically behaves like an ordinary int, but with the value restricted to be within a given range. I guess I need some kind of factory function, but I cannot figure out how to do it. myType = MyCustomInt(minimum=7, maximum=49, default=10) i = myType(16) # OK i = myType(52) # raises ValueError i = myType() # i == 10 positiveInt = MyCustomInt(minimum=1) # no maximum restriction negativeInt = MyCustomInt(maximum=-1) # no minimum restriction nonsensicalInt = MyCustomInt() # well, the same as an ordinary int Any hint is appreciated. • Windows Service Setup issue removing the windows service

  I'm doing a windows service setup project on VS2008, it has a custom action for setting app.config values. The setup work fine installing the service and setting the app.config values but when I try to uninstall the service, it removes the files but keep the service registered, so I can install it again using the setup, I need to use "sc delete " in the vs command prompt to proper remove the service... anyone have any idea which could be the issue here?   I just downloaded jQuery UI Tabs. In the included index.html file, it works fine, CSS and all, with no customization. I copied the files over to my web server, keeping the directory structure intact, and copied the content code to my already-existing index.html, but it does not work.   I keep getting an error when trying to install the geoip_city gem. I've already installed the GeoIP C library to /opt/GeoIP, but the gem doesn't seem to pick it up. • Why is this class library dll not getting information from app.config

  I am developing a custom HttpHandler, to do so I write a C# Class Library and compile to DLL. As part of this I have some directory locations which I want not hard coded in the app, so i'm trying to put it in the app.config which I've used before. Before this has worked by just going building the app.config: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <appSettings> <add key="Share" value="C:\...\"/> </appSettings> </configuration> And then obtaining this in code like: var shareDirectory = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["Share"]; But when I compile it and put it in the bin folder for the webservice, it keeps getting null for shareDirectory, probably because it can't find app.config. So how do I make sure this is included so I don't have to hard code my direcotry locations? I notice it will essentially after compiled we get the assembly.dll and the assembly.dll.config which is the app.config file, so it's definetly there in the bin folder!

  I have written an O/R database wrapper that generates some wrapper methods for stored procs it reads from the database. Now I need to produce some custom wrapper code if an input parameter of a stored proc is defaulted to NULL. The problem is - I get stored proc parameters using: SqlCommandBuilder.DeriveParameters(command) and it doesn't bring parameter defaults. Is there any way to look up those defaults? Are they stored anywhere in the database? BTW, I'm using SQL Server 2008

• WCF timeout exception on calling service on 11th time

  I'm creating a WCF service and stumbled with request timeout problem. When I load test the service the 11th call always fails with "System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out". I have read that would happen if serviceThrotling is set to defaults so I added following lines to my service configuration file <behavior name="ServiceBehavior"> <!-- ... --> <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="100" maxConcurrentSessions="100" maxConcurrentInstances="100" /> </behavior> But this doesn't help. I need the text in each node to word wrap if it's too big (as happens often). I have tried label.wordWrap = true; in my item renderer without any luck. Any other suggestions?

  Normally I just redirect to a custom error page in on the Application_Error event, but I have a specific error for which I'd like to display an alert message while the user is still on the page which triggers the error. How can I make this happen? I'm open to a modalpopup or any other type of error message, I just want to ensure the user stays on the page where they encounter the error. Thank for any ideas.

  I'm putting together a custom SynchronizedCollection<T> class so that I can have a synchronized Observable collection for my WPF application. The synchronization is provided via a ReaderWriterLockSlim, which, for the most part, has been easy to apply. The case I'm having trouble with is how to provide thread-safe enumeration of the collection. Is my only option to document the class with a caveat implementer reminding the consumer to call Dispose if using the Enumerator explicitly or is there a way to safely release the lock during finalization? I'm thinking not, since the finalizer doesn't even run on the same thread, but I was curious if there other ways to improve this.

However, this is not the case, the message is logged twice (one in each log file). Looks like the ERROR logging level for the parent category is not taken into consideration when the event is sent as part of additivity... is my observation correct or am I missing something ? how should I alter the configuration in order to achieve only ERROR level loggings in server.log ? thanks, GBa.

  I have a project that I am working on that requires the use of the Mysql Connector for NHibernate, (Mysql.Data.dll). I also want to reference another project (Migrator.NET) in the same project. The problem is even though Migrator.NET is built with the reference to MySql.Data with specific version = false, it still tries to reference the older version of MySql.Data that the library was built with instead of just using the version that is there.. and I get the exception listed in the title: ---- System.IO.FileLoadException : Could not load file or assembly 'MySql.Data, Version=1.0.10.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) The version I am referencing in the main assembly is 6.1.3.0. How do I get the two assemblies to cooperate?   I'm building a custom RTE that converts user input to a homebrewn markup, now idiot that I am I did this using an iframe with designMode = "On" and got it to work in firefox using styleWithCSS = false so that I could easily convert the <b> (yes... b :( ) into my markup which would then output the proper code instead of me having to read from <span style="... now my problem is, I cant seem to find something that looks or acts like styleWithCSS = false for IE, Chrome or Opera, any suggestions are welcome.

I am passing this through a custom field: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6P1Q-UycHA&autoplay=1 (notice the "autoplay=1") But when I load the video on my theme using wp_oembed_get... it displays the video fine, but it does not listen to the "autoplay=1" variable I am passing through. • Problem upgrading eclipse rcp app from 3.3 to 3.5 on Mac OS

  I previously had an eclipse rcp app based on eclipse 3.3 pugins deployed on both windows and mac OS X 10.4. i'm now trying to port the app to java 1.6 and eclipse 3.5 (Build id: 20100218-1602) plugins on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard). I can launch the product from eclipse 3.5 on windows but not on Mac OS X. I have the 64bit cocoa eclipse IDE and java 6. In the launch configuration I set runtime JRE to JVM 1.6.0 and added required plugins. It does however contain the object in memory, seeing that NSLog proves that. Everything is linked up and working within the TapViewController nib file. Using Guice to provide services like configuration and task queues is going great but I'm now starting on the GUI of the app and am unsure of how to proceed. The application is basically a JFrame with a bunch of tabs in a JTabbedPane. Each of the tabs is a separate JPanel subclass that lays out the various components and needs services to perform actions when certain buttons are pressed. In the current application, this looks somewhat like this: @Inject public MainFrame(SomeService service, Executor ex, Configuration config) { tabsPane = new JTabbedPane(); // Create the panels for each tab and add them to the tabbedpane somePanel = new SomeTabPanel(service, ex, config); tabsPane.addTab("Panel 1", somePanel); someOtherPanel = new SomeOtherTabPanel(service, ex, config); tabsPane.addTab("Panel 2", someOtherPanel); ... do more stuff } Obviously, this doesn't exactly follow DI best practices. I don't want to have to @Inject the tabs because that would get me a constructor with dozens of parameters. I do want to use Guice to inject the required dependencies into whatever tab objects I need without me having to pass all of those dependencies to the tab constructors. All of the dependencies for the tab objects are services that my Module knows about, so basically all I think I want to do is to ask Guice for the required objects and have them constructed for me.
