  How do I invoke/access a property of a managed bean when the bean name is known, but is not yet constructed? EDIT1 The context An object consists of a list of properties(values). One property is modified with a custom JSF editor, depending on its type. The list of editors is determined from the object's type, and displayed in a form using custom:include tags. This custom tag is used to dynamically include the editors <custom:include src="#{editor.component}">. The component property points to the location of the JSF editor. In my example some editors(rendered as select boxes) will use the same facelet(dynamicDropdown.xhtml). Every editor has a session scoped managed bean.   I have a War and Jar project in my Eclipse-based JSF project. • How to use XSLT to tag specific nodes with unique, sequential, increasing integer ids?

  Hi, I'm trying to use XSLT to transform a document by tagging a group of XML nodes with integer ids, starting at 0, and increasing by one for each node in the group. The XML passed into the stylesheet should be echoed out, but augmented to include this extra information. Just to be clear about what I am talking about, here is how this transformation would be expressed using DOM: states = document.getElementsByTagName("state"); for( i = 0; i < states.length; i++){ states.stateNum = i; } This is very simple with DOM, but I'm having much more trouble doing this with XSLT. The current strategy I've devised has been to start with the identity transformation, then create a global variable which selects and stores all of the nodes that I wish to number. I then create a template that matches that kind of node. The idea, then, is that in the template, I would look up the matched node's position in the global variable nodelist, which would give me a unique number that I could then set as an attribute. The problem with this approach is that the position function can only be used with the context node, so something like the following is illegal: <template match="state"> <variable name="stateId" select="@id"/> <variable name="uniqueStateNum" select="$globalVariable[@id = $stateId]/position()"/> </template> The same is true for the following: <template match="state"> <variable name="stateId" select="@id" <variable name="stateNum" select="position($globalVariable[@id = $stateId])/"/> </template> In order to use position() to look up the position of an element in $globalVariable, the context node must be changed. I have found a solution, but it is highly suboptimal. Basically, in the template, I use for-each to iterate through the global variable. For-each changes the context node, so this allows me to use position() in the way I described. The problem is that this turns what would normally be an O(n) operation into an O(n^2) operation, where n is the length of the nodelist, as this require iterating through the whole list whenever the template is matched. I think that there must be a more elegant solution.   This is customErrors section from my web.config file <customErrors mode="On"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="HTTP500.aspx" /> </customErrors> HTTP500.aspx is the same as standard /Views/Shared/Error.aspx page. When I get HTTP 500 error I see this page: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "RemoteOnly". To enable the details to be viewable on remote machines, please set "mode" to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. But when I change the above customErrors section like this: <customErrors mode="On"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="HTTP500.htm" /> </customErrors> then HTTP500.htm page is displayed when HTTP 500 error occurs.   Hi, I'm writing an app to check for the bus timetable's. Therefor I need to post some data to a html page, submit it, and parse the resulting page with htmlparser. I would like to have something like, when user click on the button that required login and if user is not logged in prior to the click, a tooltip will show up beside the 'User ID' textbox to inform user to login in order to proceed. So, I implemented the jQuery Tooltipster in the page to show the tooltip message. I'm having problem on IE8 in Windows XP where the first click on the button, the tooltip would show up, but the second click it wouldn't then the third click, it shows up again and then the fourth click, it wouldn't! But for IE8 in Windows 7, IE9 & IE10, they have no such problem. Any idea how to fix this? The 'imgBtnKISS' & 'lnkBtnKISS' buttons are located in a content page but the tooltip and the 'User ID' textbox are in a master page. • How to do proper Unicode and ANSI output redirection on cmd.exe?

  If you are doing automation on windows and you are redirecting the output of different commands (internal cmd.exe or external, you'll discover that your log files contains combined Unicode and ANSI output (meaning that they are invalid and will not load well in viewers/editors). Is it is possible to make cmd.exe work with UTF-8? This question is not about display, s about stdin/stdout/stderr redirection and Unicode. I am looking for a solution that would allow you to: redirect the output of the internal commands to a file using UTF-8 redirect output of external commands supporting Unicode to the files but encoded as UTF-8. If it is impossible to obtain this kind of consistence using batch files, is there another way of solving this problem, like using python scripting for this? In this case, I would like to know if it is possible to do the Unicode detection alone (user using the scripting should not remember if the called tools will output Unicode or not, it will just expect to convert the output to UTF-8. For simplicity we'll assume that if the tool output is not-Unicode it will be considered as UTF-8 (no codepage conversion).

• jQuery AJAX request (Rails 3) gets redirected and returns empty message body (only with SSL)!

  I'm trying to do a manual jQuery AJAX request the following way: $("#user_plan_id").change(function() { $("#plan_container").load('/plans/' + this.value); }); I have the "rails.js" file included in my header, and a "<%= csrf_meta_tag %". I see from my log that the request IS getting to the server (although without the authenticity token... does rails.js even do this?), but the response is a 302 (Found) rather than 200, and no data actually gets rendered. Any ideas? Edit: I now see that the first request redirects, and the proper partial gets rendered on the redirect. However, the 2nd response's body (on the client-side) is still empty. I'm guessing jQuery uses the first response and doesn't have a listener set up for the redirect. How do I get around this? Also, another note: the page doing the requesting is an HTTPS page. The application I'm working on is a combination of Classic ASP(VBScript) and .Net 2.0 (C#). One of the tools they have purchased is Fortify 360. The reason I suspect that Fortify is looking for specific key words is that on the .Net side of things, I can include the Microsoft AntiXss assembly and call functions such as GetSafeHtmlFragment and UrlEncode and Fortify is happy. Any advice?

• Pointing non-www to a spcific sub-directory

  I might be going about this all wrong so let me know if I am. I am creating software that allows people to sign up and have their own sub-domain on my website. So say my website is ben.com, they could have their own sub-domain called juice.ben.com. When they type their sub-domain juice.ben.com in their address bar, it will load the contents in a root directory. I have also set-up a .htaccess redirect to redirect www.ben.com to ben.com. Not sure if this matters with my question but I thought I'd mention it. Ok, so basically what I think I need to do is put the software they they've signed up to in the root directory. So when someone goes to juice.ben.com, they will be pointed to the root directory (I beleive I cans et-up wild card sub-domains with my host) and the software will then analyse their sub-domain and then display their account. Now, if someone just types in ben.com into their browser, I want it to show the contents of the ben.com/_website/ folder but still show in the address bar that they are still in the root directory. Hopefully I am making sense :) Is this possible with htaccess? If so, what do I need to do?

So, instead of submitting the form to j_security_check i created my own servlet and in that i am programmatically trying to do login. • QWebView not loading external resources

  Hi. I'm working on a kiosk web browser using Qt and PyQt4. QWebView seems to work quite well except for one quirk. If a URL fails to load for any reason, I want to redirect the user to a custom error page. I've done this using the loadFinished() signal to check the result, and change the URL to the custom page if necessary using QWebView.load(). However, any page I attempt to load here fails to pull in external resources like CSS or images. Using QWebView.load() to set the initial page at startup seems to work fine, and clicking any link on the custom error page will result in the destination page loading fine. It's just the error page that doesn't work. I'm really not sure where to go next. I've included the source for an app that will replicate the problem below. It takes a URL as a command line argument - a valid URL will display correctly, a bad URL (eg. • Application Errors vs User Errors in PHP

  So after much debate back and forth, I've come up with what I think may be a valid plan to handle Application/System errors vs User Errors (I.e. Validation Issues, Permission Issues etc). Application/System Errors will be handled using a custom error handler (via set_error_handler()). Depending on the severity of the error, the user may be redirected to a generic error page (I.e. Fatal Error), or the error may simply be silently logged (i.e E_WARNING). These errors are ones most likely caused by issues outside the users control (Missing file, Bad logic, etc). The second set of errors would be User Generated ones. These are the ones may not automatically trigger an error but would be considered one. In these cases i"ve decided to use the trigger_error() function and typically throw a waning or notice which would be logged silently by the error handler. After that it would be up to the developer to then redirect the user to another page or display some sort of more meaningful message to the user. This way an error of any type is always logged, but user errors still allow the developer freedom to handle it in their own ways. I.e. Redirect them back to their form with it fully repopulated and a message of what went wrong. Does anyone see anything wrong with this, or have a more intuitive way? My approach to error handling is typically everyone has their own ways but there must be a way instituted.

• Spring HandlerInterceptor or Spring Security to protect resource

  I've got a basic Spring Security 3 set up using my own login page. My configuration is below. I have the login and sign up page accessible to all as well as most everything else. I'm new to Spring Security and understand that if a user is trying to access a protected resource they will be taken to the defined login page. And upon successful login they are taken to some other page, home in my case. I want to keep the latter behavior; however, I'd like specify that if a user tries to access certain resources they are taken to the sign up page, not the login page. Currently, in my annotated controllers I check the security context to see if the user is logged in and if not I redirect them to the sign up page. I only do this currently with two urls and no others. This seemed redundant so I tried creating a HandlerInterceptor to redirect for these requests but realized that with annotations, you can't specify specific requests to be handled - they all are. So I'm wondering if there is some way to implement this type of specific url handling in Spring Security, or is going the HandlerInterceptor route my only option? • What is the best way to route a static controller in Rails?

  I have a static_controller that is in charge of all the static pages in the site and works as follows in routes.rb: map.connect ':id', :controller => 'static', :action => 'show' I have a static page called about that among other information, has a contact form. I currently have a contacts_controller that is in charge of inserting the contact information to the database. Inside my routes.rb file, I have: map.resources :contacts My contact form (simplified) looks like this: <% form_for @contact do |f| %> <p class="errors"><%= f.error_messages %></p> <p> <%= f.label :first_name %> <%= f.text_field :first_name %> </p> <p class="buttons"><%= f.submit %></p> <% end %> Which in turn submits to the create action of my contacts_controller. My create action looks like this: def create @contact = Contact.new(params[:contact]) if @contact.save flash[:notice] = "Email delivered successfully." end redirect_to "about" end The problem is, is the that when I redirect back to my about page the error_messages for the form get lost (since the error_messages for the form only exist for one request, and that request ends upon redirect). How would I go about preserving the error_messages and still linking the users back to the about static url? Would a session/flash be sufficient (if so, what code would I use to pass error messages) or am I going about this whole thing wrong? Thanks!

• Creating Signed URLs for Amazon CloudFront

  Short version: How do I make signed URLs "on-demand" to mimic Nginx's X-Accel-Redirect behavior (i.e. protecting downloads) with Amazon CloudFront/S3 using Python. I've got a Django server up and running with an Nginx front-end. I've been getting hammered with requests to it and recently had to install it as a Tornado WSGI application to prevent it from crashing in FastCGI mode. Now I'm having an issue with my server getting bogged down (i.e. most of its bandwidth is being used up) due to too many requests for media being made to it, I've been looking into CDNs and I believe Amazon CloudFront/S3 would be the proper solution for me. I've been using Nginx's X-Accel-Redirect header to protect the files from unauthorized downloading, but I don't have that ability with CloudFront/S3--however they do offer signed URLs. I'm no Python expert by far and definitely don't know how to create a Signed URL properly, so I was hoping someone would have a link for how to make these URLs "on-demand" or would be willing to explain how to here, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, is this the proper solution, even? I'm not too familiar with CDNs, is there a CDN that would be better suited for this?

• Is there an extension or a way to write an extension for firefox that allows a developer to refresh

  I'm a developer, and I spend much of my day refreshing the webapps I work on. Occasionally, I'll encounter pages where POST data was submitted, and firefox will prompt me to Resend POST data or to Cancel. Now, I know that I can just redirect a page to itself to get rid of this warning, but I still want to keep this warning for our users; I just want to be able to skip it while developing. It's also not just on one page, but at many different points throughout the app, so it's not like I can just do if $debug==true then redirect or something like that. Basically just a minor convenience issue, but when I encounter the message 50-100 times a day, it can get aggravating. What I want to do is essentially have 3 options when refreshing: Resend POST data, cancel, or refresh without resending POST data The third option would be equivalent to clicking "enter" in the address bar (which is what I end up having to do). The problem with clicking enter is that I often have to "hard refresh" using ctrl+shift+r, but if I do this with POST data I have to click cancel, then click enter on the address bar, then do a hard refresh after that. I would instead like to press ctrl+shift+r, then continue hard refreshing the page without the POST data. Does anyone know how to do this? Through an extension or otherwise? It's totally a minor issue, but it's something that constantly bothers me and I actually think it would be quite a useful option. Thanks

  Hi Guys, I started creating an application utilizing FBML but quickly realized its limits as far as external sources like javascript and so forth. I had just finished the app and now I am looking to convert it to XFBML so I can use external javascripts. I am having an issue with the login function. It allows a user to login when I goto my site but if i go to the facebook app page my button to login still appears in the frame (even though I am already logged into facebook). Upon clicking login the app fucntions as expected. My question is why do i have to click login even though I am already logged in? On the actual website it processes the app as if I am already logged in.
