  • Meteor exception in Meteor.flush when updating a collection breaks reactivity across clients

    When I'm calling Collection.update from the front end (the method call is allowed), the update does work ok, but the exception below is being thrown (in Chrome's JS console, not in the server). Although the update took place, other clients connected to the same collection do not see the updates until they refresh the browser - I suspect because of the exception. Any idea what might cause this?     Why do people say that business logics should be implemented on the server side code (e.g. EJB) and not on the client application code? The example that I have in mind is a business object validation on a EJB based architecture. Does it really have to be delegated to the EJB or is it ok to run it on the client before the object is sent to be server to be saved?

  • Cocoa Core data filename?

  • Does NSKeyedUnarchiver autorelease?

    I'm doing some archiving to a property list and when I unarchive my data using NSKeyedUnarchiver I find that my app crashes if I release the object afterward. I was wondering if the finishDecoding message also autoreleases the object. Seems weird that it crashes when I release it.

  • Android: who can help me with setting up this google maps class please??

    Hi, Firstly this has turned out to be quite a long post so please bear with me as its not too difficult but you may need to clarify something with me if i haven't explained it correctly. So with some help the other day from guys on this forum, i managed to partially set up my 'mapClass' class, but i'm having trouble with it and its not running correctly so i would like some help if possible. I will post the code below so you can see. What Ive got is a 'Dundrum' class which sets up the listView for an array of items. Then ive got a 'dundrumSelector' class which I use to set up the setOnClickListener() methods on the listItems and link them to their correct views. The onClick() events don't even work from the listView to get into the correct views. I have to comment out the methods in 'DundrumSelector' before I can get into their views. And this is what I dont understand, firstly why wont the onClick() events work, because its not even on that next view where the map is. I know this is a very long post and it might be quite confusing so let me know if you want any clarification.. Just to recap, what i'm trying to do is just have one class that sets up the map coordinates, like what i'm trying to do in my 'mapClass'.     I have a simple form that I would like to validate on form submission. In my controller I have: public ActionResult Submit(string FirstName, string LastName) { if (FirstName.Trim().Length == 0) ModelState.AddModelError("FirstName", "You must enter a first name"); if (LastName.Trim().Length == 0) ModelState.AddModelError("LastName", "You must enter a first name"); if (ModelState.IsValid) { //Update database + redirect to action } return View(); //If ModelState not valid, return to View and show error messages } Unfortunately, this code logic produces an error that states that no objects are found for JobRole and Courses. If I remove the dropdownlist and checkboxes then all works fine. The issue appears to be that when I return the View the view is expecting objects for the dropwdownlist and checkboxes (which is sensible as that is what is in my View code) How can I overcome this problem? Things I have considered: In my controller I could create a JobRoleList object and Course object to pass to the View so that it has the objects to render. The issue with this is that it will overwrite any dropdownlist / checkbox selections that the user has already made. In the parameters of my controller method Submit I could aslo capture the JobRoleList object and Course object to pass back to the View. Again, not sure this would capture any items the user has already selected. I have done much googling and reading but I cannot find a good answer. When I look at examples in books or online (e.g. Nerddinner) all the validation examples involve simple forms with TextBox inputs and don't seems to show instances with multiple checkboxes and dropdownlists. Have I missed something obvious here? What would be best practice in this situation? Thanks

According to the documentation: When an object’s remote proxy is deallocated, a message is sent back to the receiver to notify it that the local object is no longer shared over the connection. I would therefore expect that as each DOTarget goes out of scope (each time around the loop) it's remote counterpart would be dellocated, since there is no other reference to it being held on the remote side of the connection. In reality this does not happen: the temporary objects are only deallocate when the client application quits, or more accurately, when the connection is invalidated. I can force the temporary objects on the remote side to be deallocated by explicitly invalidating the NSConnection object I'm using each time around the loop and creating a new one but somehow this just feels wrong. Is this the correct behaviour from DO? Should all temporary objects live as long as the connection that created them? Are connections therefore to be treated as temporary objects which should be opened and closed with each series of requests against the server? Any insights would be appreciated.
