• Silverlight Project - Setting Reference to Copy Local false not working.

  Why is it that when my Silverlight project is built, the output directory contains a bunch of culture specific directories: ar\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll bg\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll ca\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll etc etc etc Also the root of the build output contains: System.Xml.Linq.dll System.windows.Controls.dll I have gone through the projects in my solution and made sure that "Copy Local" is set to false for all the referances of the mentioned dll files. Those 2 files were set to true, but I did switch them to false. Despite my effort to google an answer, I remain stuck.

• Setting my PictureBox to transparent background color doesn't really make it transparent. Bug?

  Here's what I have in VERY simple easy to grasp terms. My form background is Blue. I created a gradient image from white to the Blue from the form background. This is to give the form a nice gradient look. I added a picturebox to my Form and set this image as the Image. I added a picturebox with a Logo on top of the gradient Picturebox, but it's 'grabbing' the Form background color and not respecting the transparent background image I wanted it to grab. So: Blue Form - Huge pictureBox with gradient - Small picturebox thats supposed to respect the gradient. Help please!

• UIWebView NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringLocalCacheData doesn't actually ignore the cache

  I have a UIWebView object, with the caching-policy specified as: NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringLocalCacheData This should ignore whatever objects are in the local cache and retrieve the latest version of a site from the web. However, after the first load of the site (10 resources in trace, HTTP GET), all subsequent loads of the site only retrieve a small subset of resources (3 resources in trace, HTTP GET). The images all appear to be loaded from some local source. I have confirmed that my sharedURLCache has a memory usage of 0 bytes, and a disk usage of 0 bytes. Whenever the process starts fresh, the full version of the site is retrieved again. This leads me to believe that these resources are being stored in an in-memory cache, but as I noted before, [[NSURLCache sharedURLCache] currentMemoryUsage] returns 0. I have also tried explicitly removing the cached response for my request, but this seems to have no effect. What gives?

• Ruby on Rails simple_navigation Gem

  I'm using the simple_navigation gem with RoR 2.3.5 It all seems to work correctly, I followed the info in the RDoc (seen here http://rdoc.info/projects/mexpolk/simple_navigation) However, when I actually render out the simple_navigation menu on my main application.html.erb file it escapes all of the html in it (multiple escapes actually). I end up with junk like this which in a browser ends up with all kinds of disjointed text and ["\ things everywhere. <ul class="simple_navigation" depth="0" id="simple_navigation_default"> ["<li class=\"menu\" drop_down=\"true\" id=\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home\"><a href=\"/home\">Wellcome</a><ul depth=\"1\" id=\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home_menus\"> [\"<li class=\\\"menu\\\" drop_down=\\\"false\\\" id=\\\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home_menus_settings\\\"><a href=\\\"/home/settings\\\">Appliction Settings</a></li>\"] </ul> </li>"] What am I doing wrong? • Undefined variable from import when using wxPython in pydev

  I just downloaded wxPython, and was running some of the sample programs from here. However, on every line that uses a variable from wx.*, I get a "Undefined variable from import error" For example, the following program generates five errors on lines 1,4,8, and two on line 5: import wx class MyFrame(wx.Frame): """ We simply derive a new class of Frame. """ def __init__(self, parent, title): wx.Frame.__init__(self, parent, title=title, size=(200,100)) self.control = wx.TextCtrl(self, style=wx.TE_MULTILINE) self.Show(True) app = wx.App(False) frame = MyFrame(None, 'Small editor') app.MainLoop() The program, however, compiles and runs perfectly. I haven't made any significant modifications to pydev or eclipse, and the wxPython install is fresh.

  After converting a Hybrid ASP.NET MVC1 app to MVC2 I'm getting the following error when I try and run the application: The type or namespace name 'Mvc' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?) The allegeded culprit in the web.config file is System.Web.Mvc: <namespaces> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc"/> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Ajax"/> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Html"/> So far my investigation seems to lead me to believe that version 2 of System.Web.Mvc is not installed or has not been picked up. I've tried creating a File New Project based on MVC 2 and that's picking up the new (v2) version of MVC. I've also converted some other projects (that were not hybrids) and they've converted without problem to MVC2. I've also uninstalled MVC1 to try and remove references to it from the GAC. However, none of this has worked. Any ideas?

• .exe generated in cygwin 1.7 is not running on cygwin 1.52

  Hi, A year back i have developed a small script in perl for a customer and developed its .exe using pp . we delivered .exe file along with basic cygwin(1.52) install files to run that .exe to customer. Now we got an enhancement in the script .we lost all dev environment for cygwin .Again we installed fresh cygwin with 1.7 version ,coded and generated .exe file.this file is not running in the customer environment who have cygwin 1.52.Just it will be balnk after executing the .exe we cannot ask customer to upgarde the test environment. what is other way to make it run .exe with cygwin dll 1.7 on cygwin 1.52. • Visual Studio 2010 - Export Template menu option grayed out

  In Visual Studio, I want to make a simple C++ project and export it out as a template, so I can use the template to start new projects to save me time. But the Export Template menu option is always grayed out. I've not once been able to click it. Anyone know why? Anyone know how to accomplish what I need (besides the obvious "make a copy of an existing project in explorer")? It seems like project templates should be a no-brainer feature for VS. This seems to be the case for Visual Studio 2005, 2010 (I probably 2008 as well I haven't checked).

• I keep getting a "System InvalidOperationException occurred in System Windows Forms dll" error in VB

  I've just started learning VB.NET with VS 9.0; a small application I'm working on keeps returning an "A first chance exception of type System InvalidOperationException occurred in System Windows Forms dll" error from the Immediate Window. The application has almost zero functionality so far, it consists of a menu strip with: File About |Open |Save |Save As |Quit The only code I have written opens an Open File dialog, a Save As dialog, an About window with background sound and an OK button, and the Quit button which exits. Since there is almost no code for me to search through, I can't understand why there would be an error. The program runs just fine when I'm debugging it too.

• Eclipse: Synchronizing project on Thumbdrive with PC

  I have a thumb drive (memory stick, flash drive, etc.) on which I use for my projects when I am away from my home PC. Currently I am accessing my Eclipse project directly from my thumb drive when connected to my PC. I would like to copy my files to the PC, develop on the PC, then "synchronize" with the thumb drive (update files on the thumb drive). How can I synchronize my Eclipse project both directions (PC to thumb drive and thumb drive to PC) on demand (I don't need this done automagically)?

  I am working on an installer for a new version of my project (C#). Previously, I've used Inno Setup to create .exe files for installing my projects on other computers in the workplace. While reading through some tutorials, though, I came across Windows Installer XML, which uses XML files to build a .msi installer. My project will be available on a network share that all the employees have access to so they can install the software (I'm currently working on an update checker as well) What are the major differences between .exe and .msi installers? Why would I want to chose one over the other? Would either make more sense given my specific environment? I found some of the information at this question, but there was not a lot of information.

On smaller resolutions this is working as expected however once the user starts to increase there resolution the content doesn't expand as I intend it to. If you notice the blue box. That should stretch to the footer at the bottom of the page. If you notice that the blue divider line (right_container3-4) stops also at the same point.   I'm trying to download an html file with curl in bash. When I download it manually, it works fine. However, when i try and run my script through crontab, the output html file is very small and just says "Object moved to here." with a broken link. Does this have something to do with the sparse environment the crontab commands run it? What are the equivalent command line options or variables to set to fix this problem in bash? (I want to do this with curl, not wget)

Nothing else changed.   It's clear that a search performance of the generic HashSet<T> class is higher than of the generic List<T> class. Just compare the hash-based key with the linear approach in the List<T> class. However calculating a hash key may itself take some CPU cycles, so for a small amount of items the linear search can be a real alternative to the HashSet<T>. My question: where is the break-even? To simplify the scenario (and to be fair) let's assume that the List<T> class uses the element's Equals() method to identify an item.

  I'm getting used to using nant for build releases. But I have started to use asp.net MVC, and i choice make the setup for installation with a .vdproj . But, when I call the: < exec program="${dotnet.dir}/msbuild.exe" commandline='"./Wum.sln" /v:q /nologo /p:Configuration=Release' / in nant, my result is: [exec] D:\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\Wum\Wum.sln : warning MS B4078: The project file "Wum.Setup\Wum.Setup.vdproj" is not supported by MSBuild and cannot be built. Someone have some clue, or a solution? If I use the devenv, I'll have a problem? Thanks in advance.

  here is the problem! I have a UIWebView in my programs that loads a php page. The problem is that if the page has a lot of lines i cannot see them. I can "scroll" the UIWebView but when I leave the finger from the screen the page comes back to the original state. I don't want to scale pages to fit the view cause if I do that the letters become too small. I would like to find a way to scroll pages how it is possible in Safari. • What can't I build in Silverlight?

  First, I know that Silverlight needs to be embedded in a website, usually an asp page. I understand I need a delivery boy. My question is this; What types of apps/projects are so filled with technological hurdles as to make them ridiculous to do in Silverlight versus ASP.net? I know that with perseverance and flexibility I can probably make EVERY app in Silverlight, in some version or another, but which ones would be blatantly simple in, say ASP.net(or even WPF) but quite complicated in Silverlight? Basically what I am asking is if there is any reason I shouldn't consider Silverlight my first stop for every problem, obvious exceptions not with standing(a service or console). For me specifically, at this point, I am only building in house apps.

For example: class data: def __init__(self): self.table = [] def add(self, file): self.table.append(file) data.add('yes') In this function I want to have table be a variable stored in the class data and use add to modify it. However, when I run this script it gives me the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Projects/Python/sfdfs.py", line 7, in <module> data.add('yes') TypeError: add() takes exactly 2 positional arguments (1 given) I assume that I am trying to call the function the wrong way in this instance, as this syntax is very similar to an example in the python documentation: http://docs.python.org/3.1/tutorial/classes.html
