• MySQL query returns different set of results on two identical databases

  I exported a live MySQL database (running mysql 5.0.45) to a local copy (running mysql 5.1.33) with no errors upon import. There is a view in the database, that when executed locally, returns a different set of data than when executed remotely. It's returning 32 results instead of 63. When I execute the raw sql, the same problem occurs. I've inspected the data in all tables being joined, and the counts are the same. The query is simple and has no where conditions - but about 10 joins. Aside from the differences in mysql versions... I can't find any reason that this query would return different results between databases... since they are effectively exact copies. Has anyone experienced a problem like this before?

  Question What are the Git commands to do the following workflow? Scenario: I cloned from a repository and did some commits of my own to my local repository. In the meantime, my colleagues did commits to the remote repository. Now, I want to: Check whether there are any new commits from other people on the remote repository, i.e. "origin"? Say there were 3 new commits on the remote repository since mine last pull, I would like to diff the remote repository's commits, i.e. HEAD~3 with HEAD~2, HEAD~2 with HEAD~1 and HEAD~1 with HEAD. After knowing what changed remotely, I want to get the latest commits from the others. My findings so far For step 2: I know the caret notation HEAD^, HEAD^^ etc. and the tilde notation HEAD ~2, HEAD~3 etc. For step 3: That is, I guess, just a git pull.

• SyncFramework upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 Sql Server CE database change tracking issue

  I'm trying to upgrade an application that uses Sync Framework 1.0 to synchronise a SqlServerCe database with SqlServer 2005. On the client, the existing database already has change tracking enabled, but when the sync is initiated SyncFramework 2.0 fails to find the last Sync Received anchor and then tries to re=initialize the Change tracking, which fails. I get the exception... {System.Exception} = {"The specified change tracking operation is not supported. To carry out this operation on the table, disable the change tracking on the table, and enable the change tracking."} It seems like all I can do is delete the local database and recreate it. Which is not a great solution for us, since some of the data in the clients database is not synced with the server, and our users would prefer not to loose this data in the upgrade. Is there any reason why SyncFramework 2.0 cannot locate the existing Last received sync anchor?

  Hi all, Let's say we have such site structure: App_LocalResources       |- A.aspx.resx       |- B.aspx.resx A.aspx B.aspx Now I use HttpContext.GetLocalResourceObject("~/A.aspx") in A.aspx.cs, and it works fine. But if I use HttpContext.GetLocalResourceObject("~/A.aspx") in B.aspx.cs, it throws an exception: The resource class for this page was not found. Please check if the resource file exists and try again. Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: The resource class for this page was not found. Please check if the resource file exists and try again. How can I resolve this problem? I want to read the local resources from an external page, and I don't want to read the .resx file myself.   I'm trying to talk to a C# program that uses protobuf-net from an iphone using http://code.google.com/p/metasyntactic/wiki/ProtocolBuffers Unfortunately the .proto file I've been given (generated from the C# source code) includes an a line that protoc is rejecting: repeated Pair_Guid_List`1 Local = 6; It appears that this is because the source data is a C# Dictionary, with a Guid key and a class as the value. Is there a way to cope with this better? The protobuf-net version in use is r278.zip. (The C# sending and receiving these protobufs all works fine, it's just when we add the iphone into the mix that this becomes an issue.)

• Using git-svn with existing svn project

  I'm currently working on a project that has a svn repository. I'm used to git and love the way it allows me to have a local repository, so I would like to use git-svn with this project. I would like to know how to use git-svn from a svn project already in my computer. Do I really need to make a clone and start from there? Or can I just do something like git svn init in the current project folder and proceed from there? Also I would like to know about any big issues using git-svn, since this is a serious project and I shouldn't mess around with the repo. Thanks in advance.

I used 2 ajax calls to get the data from actor.php and director.php. It works fine on my local machine, but only the first one works on server. • Removed MAMP from OS X, dyld still using MAMP libraries

  When I try and use a populator or sphinx on a Ruby app I keep receiving dyld errors. I used to use MAMP on OS X Leopard but since I've upgraded to Snow Leopard and am now using standalone MySQL (10.5 64-bit). $ rake ts:index Would return dyld: Library not loaded: /Applications/MAMP/Library/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.15.dylib Referenced from: /usr/local/bin/indexer Reason: image not found rake aborted! Even though to remove MAMP I just deleted the /Applications/MAMP directory. But it still looks like dylib has references to it. I've tried running: $ sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -verify and restarting but the problem still persists. OS X 10.6.1, MySQL 5.0.85 (x86_64)

• Eclipse: What is the minimum Eclipse installation needed for a headless PDE build?

  Hi, I am currently using PDE build in headless mode to build my OSGI Bundle project. The PDE Antrunner task uses an Eclipse installation and I am just pointing it to my local Eclipse installation. unfortunatelly my eclipse installation is about 260MB big, but I assume that a PDE build does NOT require all of those plugins in a standard eclipse installation. Does anyone now what is the minimum list of plugins I need for doing a headless PDE build? All of my dependencies I actually have in a custom target platform folder, so I guess the only thing I need from my eclipse installation are the dependencies which PDE build actually needs. But what are those? Can I shrink my installation to a very minimum? My goal is to also check-in this "build-eclipse" folder into my project's SVN so that when you check it out, you have everything you need to start a full build, without touching any build.properties. But I don't want to commit 266MB of eclipse if I maybe need only 20MB of it. Thanks Christoph

  Here's the deal, we have a big JS library that we want to compress, but YUI compressor doesn't fully compress the code if it finds an "eval" statement, out of fear that it will break something else. That's great and all, but we know exactly what is getting eval'd, so we don't want it to get conservative because there's an eval statement in MooTools JSON.decode So basically the question is, is there any alternative (maybe creative) way of writing a expression that returns the eval function?   I've been struggling to get the Browser Dbus Binding working for Webkit/GTK (http://gitorious.org/webkitgtk/stable) port. I have been able to successfully compile the Webkit/GTK port as well as the DBus binding library on my Ubuntu Lucid Beta. I also installed the DBus binding library at the standard location /usr/local/lib. But now when I launch the Webkit/GTK browser and try to run one of the sample html files that are provided with DBus binding source, I get "Browser D-Bus Bridge not available, cannot run tests." Basically, JavaScript cannot find window.dbus object. Can anyone tell me what needs to be done here?

• Can I use a MIME type declaration to get an HTML file to open in MS Word?

• Caspol, VMs, Mapped Drives, VS2010

  Hi I have a VM (Win7 32 bit) with VS2010 installed. I have a drive mapped into it from the host machine (VM 64 bit), when I have some of my VS2010 projects and to where I am building them. One of my projects is looking to load an assembly. If I copy that assembly to a local drive, the program ruins fine. If I leave it on the mapped drive, then I get an error Exception is: FileLoadException - Could not load file or assembly 'file:///Z:\BusinessTier\bin\Debug\BusinessTier.dll I am unsure whether or not I need to run Caspol. There is another post on SO which pointed me to a post which indicated that VS2008 SP1+ removed the need for caspol wrt network drives, but I wondered if I still needed to because I am in a VM. I have tried running the following on the host machine in an attempt to give permissions to VS inside the VM, but to no avail C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30128>caspol -m -ag 1.2 -url file://g:\* FullTrust where g:* is the drive being mapped into the VM (as drive z:) What am I missing (apart from understanding!) • Workflow Foundation 4 WorkflowServiceHost Message Correlation

  I have 2 methods on a workflow service hosted in WorkflowServiceHost. The first method is called and starts the regular workflow sequence - talking to other web services, database work etc but on some occassions will pause and persist to db (as-in the delay activity) and wait for some human action to take place before continuing. I need my second method to be able to hook into this persisted workflow, change a local variable and then continuing processing. I have looked at message based correlation in workflow but can only seem to find examples where some kind of infinite while loop keeps the workflow instance active so that the second service method call can arrive whilst it's still running. Because my workflow instance will be delayed/persisted, the second service call doesn't seem to get anywhere (I can't have an infinite while loop keeping the workflow instance active).   Repository pattern - Switch out the database and switch in XML files. Hello I have an asp.net MVC 2.0 project and I have followed the Repository pattern. Periodically, I am losing access to the database server so I want to have another mechanism in place (XML files) to continue developing. It is not possible to have a local version of the db unfortunately! I thought this would be relatively easy using the Repository pattern, to switch out the db repositories and switch in XML versions. However, I am having real trouble coming up with a solution. I have tried LinqToXML but then ran into problems trying to return a List of News items as the LinqToXML ToList returns Generic.List Should I be mapping the XElement list over to the News list by hand? It just seems a bit clunky compared to LinqToSQL attributes on the News class and then simply doing a Table.....ToList(); Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks

• Acordex Image viewer throws out of memory exception in CITRIX environment

  We have a .net 2.0 application. In the .aspx page we are calling the java applet using . This applet is calling the Acordex Image viewer. In the production environment users are facing "out of memory" or "insufficient memory" issues when users try to open the image or magnify an image in Acordex viewer. Strangely when the users logout and login again they are able to see the same image without any errors. The website is hosted in a CITRIX environment. We have access to this environment but we are not able to reproduce this issue on the test servers or the local machines. We dont know what is causing this issue. What should we do to troubleshoot the issue? Do we have to increase the memory allotted to the users in CITRIX? The RAM is around 4 gb.   Hey everybody, So, I have this desktop app built using WPF and C#. It's basically an offline course system that has videos, quizzes, and other assorted content. My dilemma is that I don't know how to protect the videos once they are downloaded and installed on the users machine? Are there any DRM systems out there that I can look into? I thought about storing them in a local encrypted database but I don't even know where to start with that (or if there is something else out there that I'm totally missing...) Don't even know where to start looking on this one - any ideas?
