• jQuery each loop - using variables

  I have a list of products. Each product has a title and a review link. Currently the titles link directly to the individual product page, and the review links go elsewhere. I'd like to use a jquery each loop to cycle through each li, take the href from the title (the first link), and apply it to the review link (the second link), so they both point to the product page. Simplified code would be as follows: <ul> <li><a href="product1.html">Product 1</a><a href="review1.html">Review 1</a></li> <li><a href="product2.html">Product 2</a><a href="review2.html">Review 2</a></li> <li><a href="product3.html">Product 3</a><a href="review3.html">Review 3</a></li> </ul> I thought it would be something like the following: $("li").each(function(){ var link = $("a:eq(0)").attr('href'); $("a:eq(1)").attr("href", link); }); But it always uses the same variable "link". Can someone help me out?

• subversion 1.6.x losing changes on check-in

  I'm trying to figure out if this is a known issue with SVN 1.6.x Developer A modifies a file and commits it. Developer B modifies the same file. Tries to commit it and gets told local copy out of date so does an update and then a commit. However the changes from Developer A are lost so the resulting file only contains the version that Developer B checked in. We can see this in the logs. It seems to happen when the same file is modified but in different places. Anyone else experienced this? We've had it happen 4 or 5 times in the past few weeks and we've lost a half day or so each time trying to figure out what's been lost, etc. We're starting to lose confidence in SVN. Should we be thinking of moving to GIT or Mecurial? Would that sort out this problem?

• Passing list of values to django view via jQuery ajax call

  I'm trying to pass a list of numeric values (ids) from one web page to another with jQuery ajax call. I can't figure out how to pass and read all the values in the list. I can successfully post and read 1 value but not multiple values. • How to get acts on taggable working

  I am new to ruby on rails (and programming) and this is probably a really stupid question. I am using Rails 3.2 and trying to use acts_as_taggable_on to generate tags on articles and to have those tags show on article index and show pages as a clickable links. I have tags clickable on both the article show and index pages, but the links just go back to the index page and don't sort according to the tag name. I have scoured the Internet and pieced together the code below from various sources, but I am clearly missing something. Any help is greatly appreciated, as I have exhausted my seemingly limited knowledge! Thanks. • Subversion freaking out on me!

  I have two copies of a site, one is the production copy, and the other is the development copy. I recently added everything in the production to a subversion repository hosted on our linux backup server. I created a tag of the current version and I was done. I then copied the development copy overtop of the production copy (on my local machine where I have everything checked out). There are only 10-20 files changed, however, when I use tortoise SVN to do a commit, it says every file has changed. The diff file generated shows subversion removing everything, and replacing it with the new version (which is the exact same). What is going on? How do I fix it?   New to iOS development and everything with the license is driving me nuts. So i got a few questions. I have a developer account but not a license yet. If i buy a iOS developer license for $99, that license is then stuck to my account? Can one developer account have multiple iTunes Connect accounts or is it stuck to one? Before i started to read up on stuff my account got added to a company's iTunes Connect account. If i then buy a license would i be stuck to just develop to that company or is it possible to change? I want to develop for my self and also one specific company. Can i use the same licence or do i need two? Can you have multiple licenses/certifications or whatever its called in Xcode? Is the iOS Developer Program both for development and distribution?

• Load javascript in app engine

  I got so confused loading javascript in app engine. I am using django template. In my base html file. First I can't load my downloaded jquery from local say d:/jquery.js like <script src="d:\jquery.js" type="text/javascript" ></script></head>, This line is in my base html file. It works when I load jquery from remote. Like <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js"type="text/javascript" ></script></head> I dont know why. Second, I can't load my own-created javascript to my html file, say I create a javascript like layout. Js and I try to load it like this in my child html file, which, by the way, inherits from the base html. <body><script src="layout.js" type="text/javascript"></script></body>, And it doesn't work at all, the only way it works I have tried is that I put the actual javascript in the body of my base html file. • Sharing rails fragments between formats

  Hi I'm toying with mobile_fu and want to share some fragments between the different views. E.g. views/ item/ view.html.erb view.mobile.rb shared/ _common.erb In both view.html.erb and view.mobile.erb I want to share the same fragment '_common.erb' without having to specify the format (should you ever have to specify the format inside a fragment? It doesn't seem like The Rails Way?). Let's say for arguments's sake it's because it's in a helper or whatever -- the point is that I need to share fragments in a 'well-defined and Railsy way' across formats. Let's take this fairly innocuous snippet <% render :fragment => 'shared/common' %> I've tried 3 file name conventions: _common.html.erb only works for html /item/view/xx fails with 'shared/_common.erb not found') however _common.erb fails for html and works for mobile (maybe mobile_fu is doing something wacky?) -- same error as for .html.erb version above _common.rhtml does work for both I'm thinking that: that rhtml works for both is a legacy hack and I'm loathe to rename all the shared fragments .rhtml to get the behaviour I want. Any feedback gratefully welcome! Including 'you fundamentally don't understand how Rails works please RTFM here: http://....' :)

• jquery mobile - loading content into a div

  Jquery Mobile works by “hijacking” a page and loading content and injecting it into the page. It seems that this creates a problem when i try to inject other content into the page. I have my index.html and then a page2.html file. I'm setting up jquery mobile in the normal fashion wrapping the contents of each page in a div like so: <div id="container" data-role="page"> // my content <a href="page2.html">go to page 2</a> </div> when the user taps go to page 2, it does the nice slide effect. The url in the location bar looks like this: index.html#page2.html jquery mobile inject the content of the page using the anchors and applies the transition. nice so everthing works great up to the next part. On page2.html, i have a section that is loading some external data and injecting it into a div. <a href="http://www.somedomain.com/myata.php" class="ajaxtrigger" data-role="none">mydata</a> <div id="target"></div> <script src="js/code.js"></script> <script src="js/loader.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('.ajaxtrigger').trigger('click'); }); </script> The problem i am having is that when i enable the transitions in jquery mobile this script doesn't work. It won't load the data into the div. bummer. Anyone know what i need to do to get it to trigger and load the content into that div?

• My partial is not where rails expects it to be (nested partials)

  I have a model Submissions which has many Performers. I have a partial for showing an individual submissions (app/views/submissions/_submission.html.erb): <div> Show stuff relating to @submission ... <%= render @performers %> </div> and a partial for showing performers (app/views/performers/_performer.html.erb): <%= div_for performer do %> <%= performer.name %> <% end %> This works fine from (app/views/submissions/show.html.erb): <%= render @submission %> But I want to use this from a different namespace too (app/views/curator/submissions/show.html.erb). But I get this error: Missing partial curator/submissions/submission with {:locale=>[:en], :formats=>[:html], :handlers=>[:erb, :builder, :coffee]}. To keep long story short, when asking this question I'm asking it as a developer who's coming from Flash world - great graphics/sounds/media support, fully cross-platform, ability to combine several SWFs within a "movie" (which also implies code reusability). A Flash developer have pretty much freedom. What are most important things that i must know in order to jump into silverlight development?   I am receiving an error that states: "The HTTP verb POST used to access path '[my path]' is not allowed.". The error is being caused by the fact that I am implementing an HTML form element that uses the POST method and does not explicitly define an .aspx page in its ACTION parameter. For example: <form action="" method="post"> <input type="submit" /> </form> The HTML above is on a file at "/foo/default.aspx". Now, if the user points the URL to the root directory "foo" without specifying the aspx file (i.e. "http://localhost/foo") and then submits the form, the error "The HTTP verb POST used to access path '/foo' is not allowed." will be thrown. However, if the user goes to "http://localhost/foo/default.aspx" and then submits the form, all goes well (even if the ACTION parameter is left empty). Note: If I explicitly add the name of the .aspx (default.aspx) page to the ACTION parameter, no errors are thrown. So the example below works fine regardless if the user defines the name of the file in the URL or not. <form action="default.aspx" method="post"> <input type="submit" /> </form> I was curious as to why the error was being thrown, so I read a Microsoft KB that states This problem occurs because a client makes an HTTP request by sending the POST method to a static HTML page. Static HTML pages do not support the POST method. I suppose the core of the explanation makes sense, however in my case, my form is not being sent to a static html page - it's being sent to the same page that the html form lives on (default.aspx)... this is implicit to an ACTION param that is left empty. Is it possible to configure IIS (or otherwise) that will allow us to do form POSTing and keep the ACTION param empty?

• global variables doesn't change value in Javascript

  My project is composed by 2 html pages: 1)index.html, wich contains the login and the registration form. 2)user_logged.html, wich contains all the features of a logged user. Now, what I want to do is a control if the user is really logged, to avoid the case where a user paste a url in the browser and can see the pages of another user. hours as now, if a user paste this url in the browser: www.user_loggato.html?user=x#profile is as if logged in as user x and this is not nice. My html pages both use js files that contains scripts. I decided to create a global variable called logged inizialized to false and change the variable to true when the login is succesfull. The problem is that the variable, remains false. here is the code: var logged=false; (write in the file a.js) while in the file b.js I have: function login() { //if succesfull logged=true; window.location.href = "user_loggato.html?user="+ JSON.parse(str).username + #profilo"; Now with some alerts I found that my variable logged is always false. Why? if I have not explained well or if there is not some information in order to respond to my question let me know.

  I was a classic asp developer in 2000. After a year of full-time employment, I left the field. I found a part-time position as an asp developer again in 2005 and taught myself vb.net. In 2007, I got the current full-time job as an Asp.net web developer. I taught myself C#, LING t0 SQL, Web Services, AJAX, and creating all kinds of reports with reporting services. One and half years ago, I sent myself to part-time graduate program in Database and Web Systems. I'll have two semesters to go and so far my GPA is 4.0/4.0. My job responsibility is to collect business requirements from other departments, design the database, write stored procedures, create aspx pages, and create reports. I love what I do and want to advance my career to the next level. What I enjoy most is to design the relational database. I would want to become an .Net Architect eventually. I got an interview. They were looking for asp.net web developer. But I was surprised and disappointed that position would only create aspx pages. I would not even have opportunity to write stored procedures, let alone design the database (those would be provided by another group). Furthermore, they asked me some detailed questions about web forms, some of which I did not know the answers. they might be disappointed as well. I am eager to learn and can apply what I learn to real projects right away. I believe no matter what specific skills I am lacking for a new position, I can catch up quickly. • Must JsUnit Cases Reside Under the Same Directory as JsUnit?

  I have installed JsUnit and a test case as follows: /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit/testRunner.html /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit/myTests/lineTestAbs.html /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/lineTestAbs.html When I open the test runner in a browser as a file, and test lineTestAbs.html from the jsunit/myTests directory, it passes. When I test the same file from the JavaScript directory, the test runner times out, asking if the file exists or is a test page. Questions: Am I doing something wrong here, or is this the expected behavior? Is it possible to put test cases in a different directory structure, and if so what is the proper path reference to to JsUnitCore.js? • Automated browser testing: How to test JavaScript in web pages?

  I am trying to write an application that will test a series of web-pages programmatically. The web pages being tested have JavaScript embedded within them which alter the structure of the HTML when they complete execution. It is then the goal to take the final HTML (post-execution of the embedded JavaScript) and compare it against a known output. Essentially, the Input --- Output for the test application is: URL ---[retrieve HTML]--- HTML ---[execute JS, then compare]--- PASS/FAIL Here is the challenge: I have been unable to find a solution that is able to take the HTML I retrieve from the URL and process the JavaScript, as a browser would, and generate the final HTML a user might see from "View Source" on the same page within the browser. It would be very surprising if this sort of approach has not been made before, so I'm hoping someone out there knows of a fitting solution for this application/problem? If at all possible, I'm hoping for a solution that integrates with .NET (I've tried using the WebBrowser, with no luck). However, if there is an existing 3rd party application that can do exactly this, that would be quite acceptable. Thanks in advance for the suggestions! Dave
