  • How to move around an image with javascript?

    Hi there i'm developing a simple web quiz. Using javascript, i would like to create an effect that displays a small image (1UP) that wanders around the "game deck" when users reach a specific level or score; user could gain an extra life simply clicking on it in time.   • Form won't submit properly in IE

    Hi! My simple donation form submits properly except for Internet Explorer. I'm sure it has to do with issues with change() and focus() or blur(), but all my hundreds of attempts so far have failed me. I tried using .click() instead of change() as mentioned in this post:http://stackoverflow.com/questions/208471/getting-jquery-to-recognise-change-in-ie (and elsewhere), but I could not get it to work! ... so I am overlooking something simple perhaps.   • hidden row causing issue with tablesorter zebra striping

    Sorry if this has already been solved elsewhere but my searches have been able to turn up nothing and my attempts at solving the issue myself have made even less progress. :P Put quite simply I have a table that is using the jquery tablesorter and it's zebra widget. In this table there is a hidden column. I've so far been able to make it so that when a tr contains specific text (I was aiming for * but was seemingly unable to get \* to work for whatever reason...and I suspect my selector is perhaps not specific enough) the containing row is set not to display by ".hide()". The problem I am having though is when the row is hidden, tablesorter does exactly what it should do and stripes all the rows their specific colours based on their odd and even values. Of course .remove doesn't do the trick either as the table still sees some funny striping. Any thoughts on how to make it so that when a row is hidden, the striping compensates?

    I've got a button that I use with jQueryUI somethink like this (simplified). <button id="mybutton">Play<button> <script> $("#mybutton").button().toggle( function(){ $(this).text('Stop'); }, function(){ $(this).text('Start'); }, ); </script> This code breaks the way the button looks because when making it into the button widget, there's a new span added inside the button. So I'm changing the button value like this now $(this).find('span').text('Stop'); This is hacky because I can't treat the button as a black box anymore and have to go inside. Is there a clean way to do this?

  • How do you reference a custom object outside of the function it was created in with JavaScript?

    Hi, I'm currently using JavaScript and jQuery. I have an function which executes once the document is ready, and inside that I am creating objects which contain various attributes. Within the same function, I can access these new object's attributes no problem, however once I'm inside a different function I can't seem to reference them properly and therefore cannot access the objects or the information inside them. What's the correct way to reference the attributes of an object which was created in a different function to the one looking for the information?

    Hi all, I'm writing a Google Maps app that requests data from the server using jQuery's $.ajax() to send the request to my MVC Contoller. This control expects a List for the category types. What should the querystring look like for this? I've tried http://localhost:9090/mapamenities?amenityTypes=1,5 http://localhost:9090/mapamenities?amenityTypes=[1,5] with no luck.     Hi, I have to use a Virtual(on screen) keyboard on a asp:textbox which has a AjaxControlToolkit's automcomplete attached to it, the virtual keyboard I use is the jQuery keypad plug in: http://keith-wood.name/keypadRef.html , but I have some problems with combining these two: Typing in the virtual keyboard does not trigger the Autocomplete list. When the textbox has autopostback=true if you click anything on virtual keyboard the textbox loses its focus and posts the form.

  • Debugging site written mainly in JScript with AJAX code injection

    Hello, I have a legacy code to maintain and while trying to understand the logic behind the code, I have run into lots of annoying issues. The application is written mainly in Java Script, with extensive usage of jQuery + different plugins, especially Accordion. It creates a wizard-like flow, where client code for the next step is downloaded in the background by injecting a result of a remote AJAX request. It also uses callbacks a lot and pretty complicated "by convention" programming style (lots of events handlers are created on the fly based on certain object names - e.g. current page name, current step name). Adding to that, the code is very messy and there is no obvious inner structure - the functions are scattered in the code, file names do not reflect the business role of the code, lots of functions and code snippets are most likely not used at all etc. PROBLEM: How to approach this code base, so that the inner flow of the code can be sort-of "reverse engineered" using a suite of smart debugging tools. Ideally, I would like to be able to attach to the running application and step through the code, breaking on each new function call. Also, it would be nice to be able to create a "diagram of calls" in the application (i.e. in order to run a particular page logic, this particular flow of function calls was executed in a particular order). Not to mention to be able to run a coverage analysis, identifying potentially orphaned code fragments. I would like to stress out once more, that it is impossible to understand the inner logic of the application just by looking at the code itself, unless you have LOTS of spare time and beer crates, which I unfortunately do not have :/ (shame...) An IDE of some sort that would aid in extending that code would be also great, but I am currently looking into possibility to use Visual Studio 2010 to do the job, as the site itself is a mix of Classic ASP and ASP.NET (I'd say - 70% Java Script with jQuery, 30% ASP). I have obviously tried FireBug, but I was unable to find a way to define a breakpoint or step into the code, which is "injected" into the client JS using AJAX calls (i.e. the application retrieves the code by invoking an URL and injects it to the client local code). Venkman debugger had similar issues. Any hints would be welcome. Feel free to ask additional questions.
