• Spring Form: Submitting extra parameter on submit buttons

  Hi, I am working on a form with a bunch of selection criteria that will generate a report when the form is submitted. I also have a number of different reports that can be generated form this same criteria, and want the type of report to be selectable by using a tab system where each tab clicked on submits the form and generates the correct report. I was to do this by passing an extra parameter into the form to switch onto the right form type I am new to Spring, and from the guidance of an elder was told to use an input button for each tab with the following approximate syntax: <input type="submit" name="${form.selectionValues.tabSelection}" value="1" /> tabSelection form property of the SelectionValues object is not being set. I wasn't surprised ;) DIdn't think this would work. So I am wondering how can I can submit a post back from a button in Spring containing the form values plus an extra tabSelection parameter and value? How should I mark up this mechanism? Will I have to do anything to the form controller to register this extra parameter? The original markup I was using to build this page, was using HTML anchor tags instead of buttons for the tab links, which would be much better for the CSS, is there any way to trigger a full form submit using an anchor href? I know this will be a GET request instead of a POST, and not associated with the form.. so I dont expect this to work.. just trying to think of solutions! I would prefer to use the priginal markup, as the styles are there. Any help would be appreciated

• Consecutive build of VS2005 and VS2008 C++ projects causes LNK1104 error

  I have VS2005 and VS2008 installed on the same machine. I also have a common codebase that I build using both '05 and '08. For this purpose, I have 2 VC projects.. A '08 project called XYZ_2008.vcproj and a '05 project called XYZ_2005.vcproj, and the corresponding 2 slns as well. Both projects output dlls, libs and pdbs to the same output directory (all with appropriate _2005 and _2008 suffixes). Assuming that I am starting from a clean state, I first open XYZ_2005.sln (containing XYZ_2005.vcproj) in VS2005 and build it successfully. Then I close VS2005. Next, I open XYZ_2008.sln (containing XYZ_2008.vcproj) and build (not rebuild) it. At this point, I get an error saying: LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'mfc80u.lib' If now I rebuild the '08 solution, the error goes away and the build succeeds. The build also succeeds if I directly do a rebuild instead of a build for the '08 sln. In spite of everything being separate, the VS08 build seems to be picking up a MFC8 file (from VS05) instead of a MFC9 file. Can somebody please help out with this issue? Thanks in advance!

• iPhone --- 3DES Encryption returns "wrong" results?

  Hello fellow developers, I have some serious trouble with a CommonCrypto function. There are two existing applications for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, both use Triple-DES encryption with ECB mode for data exchange. On either the encrypted results are the same. Now I want to implent the 3DES encryption into our iPhone application, so I went straight for CommonCrypto: http://www.opensource.apple.com/source/CommonCrypto/CommonCrypto-32207/CommonCrypto/CommonCryptor.h I get some results if I use CBC mode, but they do not correspond with the results of Java or C#. Anyway, I want to use ECB mode, but I don't get this working at all - there is a parameter error showing up... This is my call for the ECB mode... • Read/Write/Find/Replace huge csv file

  I have a huge (4,5 GB) csv file.. I need to perform basic cut and paste, replace operations for some columns.. the data is pretty well organized.. the only problem is I cannot play with it with Excel because of the size (2000 rows, 550000 columns). here is some part of the data: ID,Affection,Sex,DRB1_1,DRB1_2,SENum,SEStatus,AntiCCP,RFUW,rs3094315,rs12562034,rs3934834,rs9442372,rs3737728 D0024949,0,F,0101,0401,SS,yes,?,?,A_A,A_A,G_G,G_G D0024302,0,F,0101,7,SN,yes,?,?,A_A,G_G,A_G,?_? D0023151,0,F,0101,11,SN,yes,?,?,A_A,G_G,G_G,G_G I need to remove 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th columns; I need to find every _ character from column 10 onwards and replace it with a space ( ) character; I need to replace every ? with zero (0); I need to replace every comma with a tab; I need to remove first row (that has column names; I need to replace every 0 with 1, every 1 with 2 and every ? with 0 in 2nd column; I need to replace F with 2, M with 1 and ? with 0 in 3rd column; so that in the resulting file the output reads: D0024949 1 2 A A A A G G G G D0024302 1 2 A A G G A G 0 0 D0023151 1 2 A A G G G G G G (both input and output should read one line per row, ne extra blank row) Is there a memory efficient way of doing that with java(and I need a code to do that) or a usable tool for playing with this large data so that I can easily apply Excel functionality..

• Can i change the view without changing the controller?

  Pretend1 there is a place to type in a name:     Name: __________________ When the text box changes, the value is absorbed into the controller, who stores it in data model. Business rules require that a name be entered: if there is no text entered the TextBox should be colored something in the view to indicate baddness; otherwise it can be whatever color the view likes. The TextBox contains a String, the controller handles a String, and the model stores a String. Now lets say i want to improve the view. There is a new kind of text box2 that can be fed not only string-based keyboard input, but also an image. The view (currently) knows how to determine if the image is in the proper format to perform the processing required to extract text out of it. If there is text, then that text can be fed to the controller, who feeds it to the data model. But if the image is invalid, e.g.3 wrong file format invalid dimensions invalid bit depth unhandled or unknown encoding format missing or incorrectly located registration marks contents not recognizable the view can show something to the user that the image is bad. But the telling the user that something is bad is supposed to be the job of the controller. i'm, of course, not going to re-write the controller to handle Image based text-input (e.g. image based names). a. the code is binary locked inside a GUI widget4 b. there other views besides this one, i'm not going to impose a particular view onto the controller c. i just don't wanna. If i have to change things outside of this UI improvement, then i'll just leave the UI unimproved5 So what's the thinking on having different views for the same Model and Controller? • Continue gif animation after escape is pressed

  Firefox (and other browsers i believe) stop gif animation when you click the Stop button or invoke it via the Escape key. I have a text input that on change makes ajax requests to update other elements. As part of this ajaxyness i have an animated gif to show feedback. I also trap the escape key press in this input so as to clear the text field for better UX. My problem is after the escape key is pressed once, none of the ajax gifs animate anymore until the page is refreshed. Does anyone know a workaround? Stuff i've tried: I tried the e.stopPropagation(); and e.cancelBubble = true; in the function handling the e.keyCode == 27 and that didn't seem to work. I suspect that this stops trigging more js events and the browser catches the escape irrespective of js activity. I have the gif showing/hiding via adding/removing a css class so it's difficult to apply the "change gif url to reset" workaround. I dont even know if this works anyway - didn't test it. But it seems difficult. If anyone knows that this works and knows of an easy way to apply the hack with background-image: url(../images/ajax-loader_dotcirclel13x13.gif); css then please let me know.

  I'm developing a PHP App on IIS 7.5, which uses PHP FTP commands. These all work, apart from ftp_size(). I've tested: cmd.exe > ftp host > username > password > SIZE filename = Invalid Command However, if I access the FTP site through an Internet Browser, the filesize is displayed. Do I need to install FTP Extensions, and if so, which ones and where do I get them? • How do I get a less than in a javascript for loop in XSL to work?

  I am using CDATA to escape the script but in IE8's debugger I still get this message: "Expected ')'" in the for loop conditions. I am assuming it still thinks that the ; in the &lt; generated by CDATA is ending the loop conditions. • Use Zip to Pre-Populate City/State Form with jQuery AJAX

  I'm running into a problem that I can solve fine by just submitting a form and calling a db to retrieve/echo the information, but AJAX seems to be a bit different for doing this (and is what I need). Earlier in a form process I ask for the zip code like so: <input type="text" maxlength="5" size="5" id="zip" /> Then I have a button to continue, but this button just runs a javascript function that shows the rest of the form. When the rest of the form shows, I want to pre-populate the City input with their city, and pre-populate the State dropdown with their state. I figured I would have to find a way to set city/state to variables, and echo the variables into the form. But I can't figure out how to get/set those variables with AJAX as opposed to a form submit. Here's how I did it without ajax: $zip = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['zip']); $q = " SELECT city FROM citystatezip WHERE zip = $zip"; $r = mysql_query($q); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($r); $city = $row['city']; Can anybody help me out with using AJAX to set these variables? • Where can I find BLAS example code (in Fortran)?

  I have been searching for decent documentation on blas, and I have found some 315 pages of dense material that ctrl-f does not work on. It provides all the information regarding what input arguments the routines take, but there are a LOT of input arguments and I could really use some example code. I am unable to locate any. I know there has to be some or no one would be able to use these libraries! Specifically, I use ATLAS installed via macports on a mac osx 10.5.8 and I use gfortran from gcc 4.4 (also installed via macports). I am coding in Fortran 90. I am still quite new to Fortran, but I have a fair amount of experience with mathematica, matlab, perl, and shell scripting. I would like to be able to initialize and multiply a dense complex vector by a dense symmetric (but not hermitian) complex matrix. The elements of the matrix are defined through a mathematical function of the indices--call it f(i,j). Could anyone provide some code or a link to some code?

• Working with libpath with java reflection.

  I'm dynamically loading a class and calling a method on it. This class does JNI. When I call the class, java attempts to load the library. This causes an error because the library is not on the libpath. I'm calling from instead a jar so I can't easily change the libpath (especially since the library is not in the same directory or a sub directory of the jar). I do know the path of the library, but how can I load it before I load the class. • PHP/MySQL time zone migration

  I have an application that currently stores timestamps in MySQL DATETIME and TIMESTAMP values. However, the application needs to be able to accept data from users in multiple time zones and show the timestamps in the time zone of other users. As such, this is how I plan to amend the application; I would appreciate any suggestions to improve the approach. Database modifications All TIMESTAMPs will be converted to DATETIME values; this is to ensure consistency in approach and to avoid having MySQL try to do clever things and convert time zones (I want to keep the conversion in PHP, as it involves less modification to the application, and will be more portable when I eventually manage to escape from MySQL). All DATETIME values will be adjusted to convert them to UTC time (currently all in Australian EST) Query modifications All usage of NOW() to be replaced with UTC_TIMESTAMP() in queries, triggers, functions, etc. Application modifications The application must store the time zone and preferred date format (e.g. US vs the rest of the world) All timestamps will be converted according to the user settings before being displayed All input timestamps will be converted to UTC according to the user settings before being input Additional notes Converting formats will be done at the application level for several main reasons The approach to converting time zones varies from DB to DB, so handing it there will be non-portable (and I really hope to be migrating away from MySQL some time in the not-to-distant future). MySQL TIMESTAMPs have limited ranges to the permitted dates (~1970 to ~2038) MySQL TIMESTAMPs have other undesirable attributes, including bizarre auto-update behaviour (if not carefully disabled) and sensitivity to the server zone settings (and I suspect I might screw these up when I migrate to Amazon later in the year). Is there anything that I'm missing here, or does anyone have better suggestions for the approach?

• Splitting 25mb .txt file into smaller files using text delimiter

  Regards, SO I am new to python and Perl. I have been trying to solve a simple problem and getting tied in knots with syntax. I hope someone has the time and patience to help. I have a 25mb file in ".txt" format which contains news-wire articles going back to 1970. Each news story is concatenated to the next, with only the "Copyright" statement to delimit. Each news story starts with "Item XX of XXX DOCUMENTS". There are certain metadata that are repeated throughout, I will use these for tagging later on. I wish to split this 25mb file into separate .txt files, each containing one news story (i.e. the text between "DOCUMENTS" and "Copyright", saving each with a different name (obviously). I am trying to 1 ) open the file... 2) iterate over lines in the file checking for the eof delimiter, and if it is not present writing the line to a list 3)write that list to a seperate small file. I'm having big problems with changing filenames using the counter, and how do I make Python start from where I left off, is the "seek" function appropriate? so far I have been trying this approach, completely unsuccessfully: myfile = open ("myfile.txt", 'r') filenumber = 0 for line in myfile.readline(): filenumber += 1 w=0 while myfile.readline() != '\s+DOCUMENTS\s*\n' ### read my line into a list mysmallfile()['w'] = [myfile.readline()] w += 1 output = open('C:\\Users\\dunner7\\Documents\###how do I change the filename each iteration???', 'w') output.writelines(mysmallfile) ###go back to start. • $().buttonset not working on dialog modal box JQUERY

  Hello everyone! I've done a dialog box that contains a form inside it, and I would like to add some jquery fancy items to it. I've been trying with $().buttonset() as I've done with most of my radio buttons in the application, in order to get a coherent IU for my application. The thing is that, even if following the rules specified, the buttons remain as a normal radio button, and not with the fancy interface. Do you know what could be the problem? This is the part of the form where I want the fancy radio buttons: <div id ="Replace"> <input type="radio" name="Replace" value = "true" id = "ReplaceYes" onclick = "setReplace(this)" /> <label for="ReplaceYes">Yes</label> <input type="radio" name="Replace" value = "false" checked="checked" id = "ReplaceNo" onclick = "setReplace(this)" /> <label for="ReplaceNo">No</label> </div> And then, as the previous part of code is in a partial view, invoked when showing the modal box, this is how I try to convert the buttons appearance: $("#Replace").buttonset(); The thing is that, debugging it I've seen that it goes through that part of the code, but it doesn't do what it's meant to do. • Inorder tree traversal in binary tree in C

  In the below code, I'am creating a binary tree using insert function and trying to display the inserted elements using inorder function which follows the logic of In-order traversal.When I run it, numbers are getting inserted but when I try the inorder function( input 3), the program continues for next input without displaying anything. I guess there might be a logical error.Please help me clear it. • Is it possible in Perl to require a subroutine call is made?

  I don't know enough about Perl to even know what I'm asking for exactly, but I'm writing a series of subroutines to be available for many individual scripts that all process different incoming flat files. The process is far from perfect, but it's what I've got to deal with and I'm trying to build myself a small library of subs that make it easier for me to manage it all. Each script handles a different incoming flat file with it's own formatting, sorting, grouping and outputting requirements. One common aspect is that we have small text files that house counters that are used to name the output files so that we have no duplicate file names. Because the processing of the data is different for each file, I need to open the file to get my counter value, because this is a common operation, I'd like to put it in a sub to retrieve the counter. But then need to write specific code to process the data. And would like a second sub that allows me to update the counter with the counter once I've processed the data. Is there a way to make the second sub call a requirement if the first one is called? Ideally if it could even be an error that would prevent the script from running at all much like a syntax error. • STL vector performance

  STL vector class stores a copy of the object using copy constructor each time I call push_back. Wouldn't it slow down the program? I can have a custom linkedlist kind of class which deals with pointers to objects. Though it would not have some benefits of STL but still should be faster. The elements of all the other rows of the resulting matrix is wrong. By the way I am using pyopencl. I don't know what I mistake I am doing here. I have spent the entire day with no luck. Please help me with this

  Checkbox alignment with its label (i.e., vertical centering) cross different web browsers makes me crazy. Pasted below is standard html code: <label for="ch"><input id="ch" type="checkbox">My Checkbox</label> I tested different CSS tricks (e.g., link 1, link 2); most solutions works fine in FF, but are completely off in Chrome or IE8. I'm looking for any references or pointers to solve this issue. Thanks in advance. EDIT According to Elq suggestion I modified the HTML <div class="row"> <input type="checkbox" id="ch1" /> <label for="ch1">Test</label> </div> and CSS .row{ display: table-row; } label{ display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle; } Works now in Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, and Chrome on Windows. Fails on Firefox and Chrome on Linux. Also works in Firefox and Safari on Mac, but fails on Chrome.

• Running code/script as a result of a form submission in ASP.NET

  An outside vendor did some html work for us, and I'm filling in the actual functionality. I have an issue that I need help with. He created a simple html page that is opened as a modal pop-up. It contains a form with a few input fields and a submit button. On submitting, an email should be sent using info from the input fields. I turned his simple html page into a simple aspx page, added runat=server to the form, and added the c# code inside script tags to create and send the email. It technically works but has a big issue. After the information is submitted and the email is sent, the page (which is supposed to just be a modal pop-up type thing) gets reloaded, but it is now no longer a pop-up. It's reloaded as a standalone page. So I'm trying to find out if there is a way to get the form to just execute those few lines of c# code on submission without reloading the form. I'm somewhat aware of cgi scripts, but from what I've read, that can be buggy with IIS and all. Plus I'd like to think I could get these few lines of code to run without creating a separate executable. Any help is greatly appreciated.
