jQuery Validator's "required" not working when value is set at statup

Hello, I have a problem with jQuery Validator. I want to use "required" property on a text input. It doesn't work when input has set value attribute by HTML code (tested on Firefox (3.5), and on IE 8 - on IE it works a bit better). Story: 1. Page loads; 2. value is cleared; 3. focus is changed. 4. Nothing happens but the error message should be displayed; 5. getting back to the field and typing some characters. 6. changing focus; 7. getting back to the field; 8. clearing the field. 9. Error is displayed even before leaving the field. Elements added with appendTo() not immediately available

I'm having a problem with elements added with appendTo() not being immediately available in the DOM. On the next call to shuffleElement(), the elements added with appendTo() are available and one is selected at random as expected. Everything works correctly after that. Is there some way to refresh the DOM or make these elements available to jQuery immediately after I add them with appendTo()? Any other suggestions for how to accomplish this?

removing contents of div using Jquery "empty" doesn't work

I'm trying to remove contents of particular div which are basically list items and a heading by using jquery empty so that I could replace with new contents. What happens when I run the code is, the whole div element blinked and flash the replaced content and then the old one reappear. Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong? Rails 3: How do I call a javascript function from a js.erb file

Now that I've upgraded to Rails 3, I'm trying to figure out the proper way to separate and reuse pieces of javascript. Here's the scenario I'm dealing with: I have a page with two areas: one with elements that should be draggable, the other with droppables. When the page loads I use jQuery to setup the draggables and droppables. Currently I have the script in the head portion of application.html.erb, which I'm sure is not the right solution but at least works. When I press a button on the page, an ajax call is made to my controller that replaces the draggables with a new set of elements that should also be draggable. I have a js.erb file that renders a partial in the correct location. After rendering I need to make the new elements draggable, so I'd like to reuse the code that currently lives in application.html.erb, but I haven't found the right way to do it. I can only make the new elements draggable by pasting the code directly into my js.erb file (yuck). What I'd like to have: - a javascript file that contains the functions prepdraggables() and prepdroppables() - a way to call either function from application.html.erb or from a js.erb file I've tried using :content_for to store and reuse the code, but can't seem to get it working correctly. MVC EditorFor bind to type in array

I have a ViewModel that, among other properties, contains an array of 'EmailAddress' objects. EmailAddress itself has properties such as "Address", and "IsPrimary". My view model breakdown is: public class UserDetailsViewModel { public BUser User { get; set; } public string[] Roles { get; set; } public EmailAddress[] EmailAddresses { get; set; } } I am showing a "User Details" page that is pretty standard. For example, I'm displaying data using @Html.DisplayFor(model => model.User.UserName) and @Html.DisplayFor(model => model.User.Comment) I also have a section on the page that lists all of the EmailAddress objects associated with the user: @if(Model.EmailAddresses.Length > 0) { foreach (var address in Model.EmailAddresses) { <div> @Html.DisplayFor(model => address.Address) </div> } } else { <div class="center">User does not have any email addresses.</div> } My problem is that I would like to show an "Add Email Address" form above the list of email addresses. I've even thought of adding a "dummy" property to my ViewModel of type EmailAddress just so that I can bind to that in my EditorFor - but that seems to be a really bad hack. Setting background-image with javascript

In chrome, safari, and opera setting the background image to an absolute reference such as: "/images/image.png" changes it to "http://sitepath/images/image.png". It does not do this in firefox. Is there any way to avoid this behavior, or is it written into the browser's javascript engine? Using jquery to set the background-image also does this problem. The problem is that I am posting the HTML to a php script that needs the urls in this specific format. I know that setting the image path relative fixes this, but I can't do that. The only other alternative would be to use a regexp. to convert the urls. Thanks. Problem with character encoding on email sent via PHP?

Hi everybody, Having some trouble sending properly formatted HTML e-mail from a PHP script. I am running PHP 5.3.0 and Apache 2.2.11 on Windows XP Professional. The output looks like this: Agent Summary for Support on Tuesday April 20 2010=20 Ext. Name Time Volume 137 Agent Name 01:27:25 1 138 =09 00:00:00 0 139 =09 00:00:00 0 You see the =20 and =09 in there? If you look at the HTML you also see = signs being turned into =3D. I figure this is a character encoding issue as I read the following at Wikipedia: ISO-8859-1 and Windows-1252 confusion It is very common to mislabel text data with the charset label ISO-8859-1, even though the data is really Windows-1252 encoded. In Windows-1252, codes between 0x80 and 0x9F are used for letters and punctuation, whereas they are control codes in ISO-8859-1. Many web browsers and e-mail clients will interpret ISO-8859-1 control codes as Windows-1252 characters in order to accommodate such mislabeling but it is not standard behaviour and care should be taken to avoid generating these characters in ISO-8859-1 labeled content. This looks like the problem but I don't know how to fix. Im using a couple of JSON calls to render data, etc etc. In order to keep the proper key value, I am storing it in a tag. I have this in several places in my code, none of which cause an issue like this one is. I have looked at the other code in the same view and it is the same and it works. I must be missing something, or have some sort of mistype that I havent caught. Just an overview of the controller events: The first call (/GroupSetup/PlanSetupAddNewList) will return an html string building a "form" for users to enter information into. The second call (/GroupSetup/PlanSetupChangePlanList) just changes a second dropdown based on the first dropdown selection (overwriting the html in the div). If you need more info, let me know! Video playback with jQuery Mobile and Phonegap

I'm fairly new to mobile apps, so am trying to knock up a simple video player using Phonegap and jQuery Mobile. The problem is, jQuery mobile appears to be blocking the video playback for some reason. I don't know jQuery mobile at all, but searching in the js for a reference to the video elements doesn't show up, so I've no idea what is blocking it. The code works fine in Chrome and Firefox. There are no console messages in Xcode. I also tried hooking up to http://debug.phonegap.com/ but this gave no error messages either. Any ideas??

Can I use this Ajax script to communicate and exchange data between client and server?

This block of code is for client.html (it is located in this www.client.com/client.html) - client side. The I have the code below that goes something like this: ajaxRequest.open("GET", "http://www.server.com/ajax.php", true); This is how I call the file ajax.php located in the server. Unfortunately I have no luck at all. It cannot connect to the server I'm calling. BTW, the ips /test site I've been using are all no restrictions, and is accessible to all. However, I tried to simulate by putting both client.html and ajax.php in same site and it works well. So my question is does this script works only if you are in same site? or does it work also in client-server scenario? Earlier this year I did some work on a drag and drop game. It was the first thing I'd coded other than basic html. I got it working but then had to put it to one side for a while. I've now come back to work on it. The game I had created was put on the ftp of a domain I no longer have. I took the html and image files and put them on another domain expecting them to work. However now nothing drags! I don't know what could be different. I can barely remember how I coded this in the first place. Is there an additional file that should be on the ftp or something like that? Can anyone shed any light? PHP - not sure how to ask - regarding variables and $_POST

I have a PHP form. The form works but I'm trying to test to see if a value other than the first item has been selected. How to read & write contents of a div from localstorage in chrome extensions?

I am trying to build an extension that will allow users to put some parameters into a text box in the popup, generate a link using that information and add it to the said popup. I have all that working, but needless to say, it gets flushed every time the user opens the extension anew. I'd like the info that has been put in there to stay, but can't seem to get it to work. Not sure what's going wrong. Also,if there is a different way to save users' additions, I'd be open to them.

I upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04, had no issues that I noticed. Recently tried to install something via software center, but it was throwing errors. Changed to trying to sudo apt-get install instead but again no luck. I've genuinely tried as much as I know to fix this, but I can't so I figured I'd ask here. Windows 7 Samba issue

We have a strange samba issue affecting only one user. Our samba setup is as follow : Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga) - Samba Server Samba version 3.0.33-3.14.el5 - Samba version Domain Controller WIN2008R2 Standard - Windows DC Windows 7 64 bit - Client PCs User mentioned that he faced this problem after he force shutdown his PC few weeks ago. By right, for all users when we access \\sambaservername in windows it will show all the shares in the samba server but for this user once he startup his PC he will not be able to access \\sambaservername, Error message Windows cannot access \\sambaservername Current workaround to solve the problem : Try to access one share in \\sambaservername for instance \\sambaservername\sharedfolder1. But even when doing so, it will first prompt an error in the beginning, error message is as follows Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. user need to enter the credentials again and he can access the share. Thereafter, he will be able to access \\sambaservername without any issues. But once he reboots his computer the problem will persists. Troubleshooting done so far: Ensure the following settings: Go to: Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Local Security Policy Select: Local Policies → Security Options "Network security: LAN Manager authentication level" → Send LM & NTLM responses "Minimum session security for NTLM SSP" → uncheck: Require 128-bit encryption Advise user to reset his password and try again but problem still persists Tried my account on users' PC, there is no issues. Tried user account on serveral other Windows 7 PC including mine but problem still persists. Windows XP does not have this problem. Ensure that there is no stored crendentials on the windows 7 PC. Checked the credentials manager in Control Panel as well as typing this command rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr Restart winbindd daemon on samba server but to no avail. I suspect this is due to some caching issue but not sure where is the issue. I'm trying to run my php App on Ubuntu Server 11.10. This App works fine under Apache + PHP in windows. I have other applications that I can simply copy&paste between the 2 OS and they work on both. (These don't use cURL). However this one uses the php library tonic (RESTful webservices) and makes us of php cURL module. The issue is I'm not getting an error message which makes it impossible to find the issue. ANSWER: The issue is the default Apache configuration on Ubuntu: Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews MultiViews is changing request_uri from myResource to myResource.php. Solutions: disable MultiViews in .htaccess: Options -MultiViews remove MultiViews from default config rename the file as example to myResourceClass I chose last option because that should work regardless of configuration and I only have 3 such files so the change took about 30 secs...

Is there a bug with Apache 2.2 and content filters (and maybe mod_proxy)?

I'm running Apache 2.2.15-29 on RHEL 6 (actually Scientific Linux 6.4) and I'm trying to set up a reverse proxy with content rewriting so all of the links on the proxied web pages are rewritten to reference the proxy host. I'm running into a problem with some of the content rewriting and I'd like to know if this is a bug or if I'm doing something wrong (and how to do it right, if applicable). I'm proxying a subdirectory on an internal host (internal.example.com/foo) onto the root of an external host (external.example.com). I need to rewrite HTML, CSS, and Javascript content to fix all of the URLs. I'm also hosting some content locally on the external host, which I don't think is a problem but I'm mentioning here for completeness. When I use either mod_substitute or mod_ext_filter, the external server sends the pages as Transfer-Encoding: chunked, sends all of the data, and then closes the connection without sending the final, zero-length chunk. Some HTTP clients are unhappy with this. (Chrome won't process any content sent in this way, for example, so the pages don't get CSS applied to them.)
