  • asp.net rangevalidator for calendar extender entries gives problems in safari

    Hi there, I have the following scenario: arrival and departure dates have to be selected on a form, through 2 textboxes with a calendar extender each. I validate the entries to check that no date before today is selected and to check that the departure is after the arrival. I used a rangevalidator and a comparevalidator. In IE, Firefox and Opera it is working fine, in Safari (on windows) however both the validators go off even on entries that should be accepted. It makes me suspect that the date format dd/MM/yyyy causes trouble for Safari. (the dd/MMMM/yyyy also gave the same troubles in the other browsers, probably due to the dependency on UIculture) The code is:   The range validator gets its values in code behind on Page_load RangeValidator1.MinimumValue = DateTime.Now.AddDays(1).ToShortDateString(); RangeValidator1.MaximumValue = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(12).ToShortDateString(); Does anybody have any suggestions on how to solve this problem with safari? best regards, Robin

  • Regex slow on Windows Server 2008

    Hi I have a situation where my regular expressions compile extremely slowly on Windows Server 2008. I wrote a small console application to highlight this issue. The app generates its own input and builds up a Regex from words in an XML file. I built a release version of this app and ran it both on my personal laptop (running XP) and the Windows 2008 server. The regular expression took 0.21 seconds to compile on my laptop, but 23 seconds to compile on the server. Any ideas what could be causing this? The problem is only on first use of the Regex (when it is first compiled - thereafter it is fine) I have also found another problem - when using \s+ in the regular expression on the same Windows 2008 server, the memory balloons (uses 4GB+) and the compilation of the Regex never finishes. Is there a known issue with Regex and 64 bit .net? Is there a fix/patch available for this? I cannot really find any info on the net, but I have found a few articles about this same issues in Framework 2.0 - surely this has been fixed by now? More info: The server is running the 64 bit version of the .net framework (3.5 SP1) and on my laptop I have Visual Studio 2008 and the 3.5 framework installed.     Hello, I'm having trouble displaying the only date part of a datetime into a textbox using TextBoxFor<,(expression, htmlAttributes). The model is based on Linq2SQL, field is a DateTime on SQL and in the Entity model. Failed : <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.dtArrivalDate, String.Format("{0:dd/MM/yyyy}", Model.dtArrivalDate))%> Ps : this trick seems to be depreciated, any string value in the object htmlAttribute is ignored. Failed : [DisplayFormat( DataFormatString= "{0:dd/MM/yyyy}" )] public string dtArrivalDate { get; set; } I would like to store and display the date part only on the details/edit view without the "00:00:00" part.   • SqlDateTime overflow thrown by Typed DataSet Insert

    I'm using a Typed DataSet with an Insert statement; I have a table that has a smalldatetime field defined to accept null values. When I insert from a .NET 2.0 FormView, I get a "SqlDateTime overflow. Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM." Now, I've read this post, and the parameter as sent to the class constructor is defined as global::System.Nullable<global::System.DateTime> DoB So, it looks like it should accept a Nullable obj. Additionally, the generated code is testing the value sent. if ((DoB.HasValue == true)) { command.Parameters[6].Value = ((System.DateTime)(DoB.Value)); } else { command.Parameters[6].Value = global::System.DBNull.Value; } Specifically, the error is occurring when generated SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteScalar() runs: try { returnValue = command.ExecuteScalar(); } So, I guess my question is: how do I use a Typed DataSet to set a blank value (passed from a FormView on CommandName=Insert) to a null in a database?

    I have a ListView that is binded to my custom collection. At run time , I am updating the certain properties of my entity in my custom collection in my ViewModel. At the same time , I am also doing the custom sorting in the listview. The custom sorting is applicable when I click on the any column header of the listview. For example, I am updating the current datetime on my entity on every 5 seconds and simulaneously , I am applying custom sorting based on DateTime. (The Listview is third party control). Hence I am doing two operations on my custom collection at the same time. Should I pass the dispatcher of my control in the view model and call any methods ( which updates any entity in my custom collection ) through UI dispatcher ?

The values have been added successfully.... Now i want to add two columns IsDeleted,CreatedDate to this datatable...   • Sequel Migration not running up?

    Having some trouble with the Migrations in Sequel and could use another set of eyes. I am running a migration that looks ok but no table is created. It is definitely connecting because I can see the schema_info table has been created. -M 0/1 changes the version as you would expect but still no table.   • D-Day Calendar has wrong dates when importing from google calendar?

    Hi I am using D-Day calendar and I am not sure but I got a weird problem. I basically have this for my code iCalendar iCal = iCalendar.LoadFromStream(file.InputStream); foreach (Event evt in iCal.Events) { DateTime start = evt.DTStart.Date; DateTime end = evt.DTEnd.Date; // loop through it and get values. } Yet when I import a calendar from google calendar the end date is messed up on some of the stuff I am importing. Like for instance I have this Title: should not show When: Sun, March 21(all day). Yet when I import it in. I says the start date is the 21st yet the end date is the 22nd when it should be the 21st. Not sure what is going on. I am not really sure what other info I can give you guys.

  • Becoming a professional programmer / software engineer

    This isn't strictly about programming, more about being a programmer, so I'm sorry if its not the right kind of question to ask on this forum (mod, please delete if it isn't) I'm a computer tech in the US Army, and once I'm out I'll have eight years on the job. I'm about to start a degree through an online school (the only way I can get the army to pay for it while I'm still in), and I'm seriously looking at getting a computer science degree. I'm great with computers. I can take one apart and put it back together with my eyes closed. I'm A+ and Network+ certified and I'm getting a couple other CompTIA certs before I get out. I can work Windows as well as anyone on this planet and I'm not terrible with Linux. A job in computers is something I've always wanted. But, aside from being a computer technician, it seems that every job in the field requires programming ability. I like programming as a hobby. I programmed TI BASIC in high school and I'm teaching myself Python, but that's as far as my experience goes. That sort of brings me to my questions: I've always heard that the first language is the most difficult, and once you learn it well then all the others sort of fall into place for you. Is that true? Like, if I spend the next eight months mastering Python, will I pretty much be able to pick up at least fair proficiency in any other OO language within a month of studying it or whatever? How easy is it to burn out? the biggest thing I'm afraid of is just burning out on programming. I can go all day long if I'm programming strictly for my own personal desire, but I can imagine it being really easy to burn out after a few years of programming to deadlines and certain specifications. Especially if its a big project involving a dozen different designers. From what I told you about myself, would I already be qualified to work as a regular technician (geek squad type or maybe running a computer repair shop). Is Python a good base to learn from? I've heard that it makes you hate other languages because they feel more convoluted when learning, but also that its a great beginner language. If you're a professional programmer, did you have any of the same fears? Would you recommend that I stick to computer repair and Python rather than try to get into corporate programming?     I have URLs like http://example.com/depict?smiles=CO&width=200&height=200 (and with several other optional arguments) My urls.py contains: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^$', 'cansmi.index'), (r'^cansmi$', 'cansmi.cansmi'), url(r'^depict$', cyclops.django.depict, name="cyclops-depict"), I can go to that URL and get the 200x200 PNG that was constructed, so I know that part works. In my template from the "cansmi.cansmi" response I want to construct a URL for the named template "cyclops-depict" given some query parameters. I thought I could do {% url cyclops-depict smiles=input_smiles width=200 height=200 %} where "input_smiles" is an input to the template via a form submission. In this case it's the string "CO" and I thought it would create a URL like the one at top. This template fails with a TemplateSyntaxError: Caught an exception while rendering: Reverse for 'cyclops-depict' with arguments '()' and keyword arguments '{'smiles': u'CO', 'height': 200, 'width': 200}' not found. This is a rather common error message both here on StackOverflow and elsewhere. In every case I found, people were using them with parameters in the URL path regexp, which is not the case I have where the parameters go into the query. That means I'm doing it wrong. How do I do it right? That is, I want to construct the full URL, including path and query parameters, using something in the template.     I am wrapping a number of functions from a vender API in C#. Each of the wrapping functions will fit the pattern: public IEnumerator<IValues> GetAggregateValues(string pointID, DateTime startDate, DateTime endDate, TimeSpan period) { // Validate Data // Break up Requesting Time-Span // Make Requests // Read Results (through another method call } 5 of the 6 requests are aggregate data pulls and have the same signature, so it makes sense to put them in one method and pass the aggregate type to avoid duplication of code. The 6th method however follows the exact same pattern with the same result-set, but is not an aggregate, so no time period is passed to the function (changing the signature). Is there an elegant way to handle this kind of situation without coding a one-off function to handle the non-aggregate request?

    I have a class like this with a bunch of properties: class ClassName { string Name {get; set;} int Age {get; set;} DateTime BirthDate {get; set;} } I would like to print the name of the property and it's value using the value's ToString() method and the Property's name like this: ClassName cn = new ClassName() {Name = "Mark", Age = 428, BirthData = DateTime.Now} cn.MethodToPrint(); // Output // Name = Mark, Age = 428, BirthDate = 12/30/2010 09:20:23 PM Reflection is perfectly okay, in fact I think it is probably required. I'd also be neat if it could somehow work on any class through some sort of inheritance. I'm using 4.0 if that matters.

    I have some data in Excel and need to import into database. Is there any tool that can validate and maybe clean the data? Does Red Gate have such tool? The input will be Excel. Given table constraints, eg. CHECK, UNIQUE KEY, datetime format, NOT NULL. Desire output should be as least shows which lines are having problems, and then fix some trivial error automatically, like fill in default value for NULL columns, automatically correct datetime format. I know using Python can build such a script. But just wonder what's the popular way to do this. Thanks.

    I have a model: class Person (models.Model): name = models.CharField () birthday = models.DateField () age = models.IntegerField () I want to make age field to behave like a property: def get_age (self): return (datetime.datetime.now() - self.birthday).days // 365 age = property (get_age) but at the same time I need age to be a true field, so I can find it in Person._meta.fields, and assign attributes to it: age.help_text = "Age of the person", etc. Obviously I cannot just override Person.save() method to calculate and store age in the database, because it inevitably will become wrong later (in fact, it shouldn't be stored in the database at all). Actually, I don't need to have setters now, but a nice solution must have setting feature. Is it possible in Django, or probably there is a more pythonic and djangoic approach to my problem?

  • Select from mysql by day with different timezones (php)

    I'm storing leads in a database, and each lead has a datetime field with a PST timezone based date & time. I want my user to be able to display all leads from a certain date (e.g. today, yseterday), and choose the timezone. E.g. if I want to see all leads that were generated yesterday in EST timezone, I need to first convert (or read) all the datetime values to EST, and then only select those who are in the right range (yesterday). What would be the best way to do that?
