  • After rich:extendedDataTable sortby,otheractions are not getting executed

    I have a RichFaces UI which are having sidebar menu and sidebar had 8 links. I am using Seam @DataModel and @Factory and hibernate criteria to populate all the 8 pages. In all the pages i have sortby functionality which is working fine. I am able to get all data in all the 8 pages and I can freely navigate around all the links/xhtmls. But if in one of the xhtmlpages if I do sorting or groupby after that I am unable to navigate to other pages.If I select any other link the same last query which is executed for sorting is getting executed. Is this an issue? or do I need add any configuration. Please help me in solving this issue.   • WPF PasswordBox Input Panel Icon Not Appearing: Better Workaround?

    Hello, There is a known issue in WPF where the Input Panel icon does not appear when you set focus on a PasswordBox control. I'm in need of a workaround for this, but the one suggested -- using the ITextInputPanel API -- does not quite cut it for me. Fist of all, the API works with Windows Forms controls and alternatively accepts control handles. Since WPF controls are not handle based, and they are not Forms controls, this is not quite suitable. I tried hosting a Forms control on my WPF page and that worked on the Windows XP Tabled PC (albeit with some COM exceptions) but, since there is no PasswordBox in Forms, I had to stick with a regular textbox, which is not what I need. Alternatively, using the VisualTreeHelper to get a handle on the control did not work, either. The API, according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms699559%28VS.85%29.aspx, is only compatible with Vista. I'm dealing with Windows XP tablets. I understand that the IPenInput API can be used as an alternative, but it is now deprecated. Can someone please suggest something? I really need to fix this issue. Thanks in advance!

The issue i am facing is if i have a filter on parent child dimension then drill through table does not show filtered data instead it shows all the data for that dimension.   • Bizarre Son of Suckerfish ie6/ie7 problem - 2 letters from right-most dropdown menu also appearing o

    I'm interning for an NGO in India and trying to fix their website, including updating their menu so it's not the last item on the page to load, and it's centered on the screen. Everything works well enough but when I try out my new menu in IE6, I get this weird error where the content below the menu is padded an extra 30px or so and the material in the right-most drop down appears on the far left of the screen, always visible. When I drop down the rightmost link ("Publications") the content appears both in the correct location and in the same spot on the far left of the screen, and changes color when I hover as well. It's tough to describe, so it would probably be best if you took a look: visit http://sevamandir.org/a30/aboutus.htm in your IE6/IE7 browser to see for yourself. I really appreciate your help. Also I'm using a 1000px wide monitor, if there's more hijinks going on outside that space I'd like to know about that too. I took a look at the problem again and it's even weirder than I thought. Only two letters of the bottom-most drop down menu item are shown, no matter how many items are in the left-most drop down menu. When I delete the left-most drop down menu, the bottom item from the next left-most item shows up in the same space. The padding between the menu and the content is always the same. When I hover over the real menu item, the two letters on the left hand side change color to match the hover color. Unfortunately many people that visit our website are using old browsers so IE6 support is pretty crucial, this problem is really weird though, and I would appreciate some help.   • Raphael Scope Drag n drop multiple paper instances

    I have two Raphael paper instances. In both I want to drag and drop an element (circle). It is important for me to assign both these circles the same id. I expected no problem, as both are in different paper instances and therefore in different scope. What happens is, that somehow both elements react, when I have clicked both elements at least once. If I however give these elements different IDs everything works fine (each element only calls its "start", "drag" and "up" function if draged around). Is this intended behaviour of Raphael and do I have to assign different IDs to the elements in the different paper instances?     Im new to PHP and I can't figure out what the rules are for using the echo function. For example, if I need to echo a large block of css/js, do I need to add echo to each line of text or is there a way to echo a large block of code with a single echo?     Hello It seems the most common aproach to web design is to use HTML/XHTML & CSS in conjunction with other technologies or languages like Javascript or PHP. On a theoretical level, I'm interested to know what other languages or technologies could be used to build an entire site without using a single HTML tag or CSS style for styling/positioning? Could a website be made only using XML or PHP alone, including actual styling and positioning? Presumably Flash sites are till embedded in HTML tags? Thanks

Thats the weird part. Out of the 100 times I've logged in and out - I've experienced this problem 5-6 times and 2 of my beta test users have reported the same issue. So when it works- if u click the logout link - u get the facebook popup saying - you being logged out - when it does'nt work - absolutely nothing happens - the page does not refresh - it just sits on that page doing nothing.   • Simplifying Testing through design considerations while utilizing dependency injection

    We are a few months into a green-field project to rework the Logic and Business layers of our product. By utilizing MEF (dependency injection) we have achieved high levels of code coverage and I believe that we have a pretty solid product. As we have been working through some of the more complex logic I have found it increasingly difficult to unit test. We are utilizing the CompositionContainer to query for types required by these complex algorithms. My unit tests are sometimes difficult to follow due to the lengthy mock object setup process that must take place, just right, to allow for certain circumstances to be verified. My unit tests often take me longer to write than the code that I'm trying to test. I realize this is not only an issue with dependency injection but with design as a whole. Is poor method design or lack of composition to blame for my overly complex tests? I've tried base classing tests, creating commonly used mock objects and ensuring that I utilize the container as much as possible to ease this issue but my tests always end up quite complex and hard to debug. What are some tips that you've seen to keep such tests concise, readable, and effective?

  • ASP.NET Memory Usage in IIS is FAR greater than in DevEnv. Is this normal?

    Greetings! I have an ASP.NET app that scrapes data from a handful of external pages, parses the relevant bits and displays them in a table. Total data retrieved is 3-4MB and the resulting page is about 1MB. I am using synchronous WebRequest GetResponse for the retrieval, but the same problem existed using an asynchronous BeginGetResponse/EndGetResponse process. There is no database access, no session storage, no caching, but an in-memory list of about 100 objects (total 1MB of data), plus a good amount of AJAX (AjaxControlToolkit). This issue appears on the very first run of the app, even if I have restarted IIS. The issue: When I run the app on my dev computer, the maximum commit charge is about 1.5GB. The biggest user, measured by Task Manager's VM Size, is WebDev.WebServer.exe (600MB). The app runs perfectly. When I run it on my rent-a-server (IIS 7.5, 1GB RAM), the maximum commit charge is over 3.8GB. The biggest user is w3wp.exe at 2.7GB. IIS grinds to a halt and spits out a timed-out error page. Given my limited server budget and the hope of having multiple simultaneous users, I'm kind of in a panic. Is this normal? If I bump the server RAM up to 4GB, will that be enough? Will multiple users require even more memory? Could the culprit be AJAX or the list of objects? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

  • Browser displays page without styles for a short moment (visual glitch)

    I have observed that, very infrequently, Internet Explorer (7 or 8, it does not matter) displays our web pages (www.epsitec.ch) a short time without applying the CSS. The layout appears completely broken, with everything displayed sequentially from top to bottom. When the page has finished loading, everything finally gets displayed properly. Our web pages do not use any fancy scripting, just two javascript inclusions for QuantCast and Google Analytics, done at the end of the page. By the way, we already had the issue before adding the QuantCast script.   • How to build a web crawler to find a specific advert, which is in an iframe loaded by Javascript

    I'm trying to find all instances of an advert on a website. The advert is in an iframe which is loaded by javascript (it doesn't appear at all if javascript is turned off). Detecting the advert itself is extremely simple, both the name of the flash file and the target of the href always contain a certain string. What would be the best "starting point" for achieving this? At the moment I'm considering an Adobe AIR app, which could crawl the site and examine the DOM to find the ad, and would run javascript and load the content of the iframe. The other option I can think of is using Firefox as the platform (using maybe GreaseMonkey or Selenium? I don't really know how to leverage Firefox like this). Does anyone know of anything suitable to build this, or have any suggestions on using Firefox to do it? Extra details: Being CPU intensive isn't really an issue, nor is anything depending on a browser being open. This doesn't need to run on a headless server, it will be running on a powerful desktop box. OS is also not an issue. It would be advantageous if the crawler loaded each page multiple times, as the advert is in rotation. While the crawler does need to execute the javascript and load the content of the iframe, it does not need to be able to display flash files.

  • When should I use $ (and can it always be replaced with parentheses)?

    From what I'm reading, $ is described as "applies a function to its arguments." However, it doesn't seem to work quite like (apply ...) in Lisp, because it's a binary operator, so really the only thing it looks like it does is help to avoid parentheses sometimes, like foo $ bar quux instead of foo (bar quux). Am I understanding it right? Is the latter form considered "bad style"?

    I'm using ASIHttpRequests and an ASINetworkQueue in an iphone app to retrieve some 100k XML files and a lot of thumbnails from a web service. I'd like to cache the requests in the style of NSURLCache. ASI doesn't seem to support caching as is, and I looked at the code and it drops to C to create the requests, so inserting the NSURLCache layer seemed tricky. What's the best way to implement this?

    Hello, While playing around with Rails (since I am a newbie) while reading Agile Rails book I came across an issue using the Gem Authlogic that I don't know how to address. I have a simple business Model. The tables store the following information: Name, Address, Latitude, and Longitude. The above approach has been working fine, because using the console I can enter the information and it shows up, where I need it to. My issue now is that I want to add authentication to it. As in assign those records in the table, to individual accounts. Since Authlogic is an authentication gem, can this be done? What I am trying to get to here is that, I enter a few records and leave it at that. Few days later, I want to assign those individual rows in the table to an authlogic model so the person to whom the record should belong can authenticate to it and make changes. Any code samples, blog posts to better help me understand would be great! Thank You.

However, this still fails. I tried rendering with Firefox 3.6 and Inkscape 0.47. No success. Only the Red rectangle shows. What am I missing? Thanks for any help you can offer
