  • javascript ul button dropdown crashes after if doing more than 1 button

    - by Apprentice Programmer
So i have a button drop down list that i want users to select a choice, and basically the button will return the users selection.Pretty straight forward, tested on jsFiddle and works great. Using ruby on rails btw, so i'm not sure if it might conflicting the way rails handle javascript actions. Heres the code: <%= form_for(@user, :html => {:class => 'form-horizontal'}) do |f| %> <fieldset> <p>Do you have experience in Business? If yes, select one of the following: <div class="input-group"> <div class="input-group-btn btn-group"> <button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown">Select one <span class="caret"></span></button> <ul class="dropdown-menu"> <li ><a href="#">Entrepreneurship</a></li> <li ><a href="#">Investments</a></li> <li ><a href="#">Management</a></li> <li class="divider"></li> <li ><a href="#">All of the Above</a></li> </ul> </div><!-- /btn-group --> <%= f.text_field :years_business , :class => "form-control", :placeholder => "Years of experience" %> </div> Now there are 2 more of these, and basically what happens is that if I select an item for the first time from the dropdown list, everything works great. But the moment I select the same button/or new button, the page immediately kind of refreshes, they selected value will not show up after the list drops down and user selects a value. I viewed the page source and added additional javascript src and types, but still doesnt work. the jquery code: jQuery(function ($) { $('.input-group-btn .dropdown-menu > li:not(.divider)').click(function(){ $(this).closest('ul').prev().text($(this).text()) }) }); Any suggestions what is causing the problem?? The jsfiddle link is here: http://jsfiddle.net/w4s8u/7/

  • How to check for redirects on ajax calls?

    - by acidzombie24
I was looking at this answer and some other answers http://stackoverflow.com/questions/199099/how-to-manage-a-redirect-request-after-a-jquery-ajax-call/199156#199156 I can not get this to work. i check the XMLHttpRequest object in both success and complete. In both cases when there is a redirect instead of getting a 302 i get a 200 and the html for that page. How do i make it actually report the 3xx redirect instead of skipping ahead and giving me a 200?

  • Ajax posting to PHP

    - by JQonfused
    Hi guys, I'm testing a jQuery ajax post method on a local Apache 2.2 server with PHP 5.3 (totally new at this). Here are the files, all in the same folder. html body (jQuery library included in head): <form id="postForm" method="post"> <label for="name">Input Name</label> <input type="text" name="name" id="name" /><br /> <label for="age">Input Age</label> <input type="text" name="age" id="age" /><br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" id="submitBtn" /> </form> <div id="resultDisplay"></div> <script src="queryRequest.js"></script> queryRequest.js $(document).ready(function(){ $('#s').focus(); $('#postForm').submit(function(){ var name = $('#name').val(); var age = $('#age').val(); var URL = "post.php"; $.ajax({ type:'POST', url: URL, datatype:'json', data:{'name': name ,'age': age}, success: function(data){ $('#resultDisplay').append("Value returned.<br />name: "+data.name+" age: "+data.age); }, error: function() { $('resultDisplay').append("ERROR!") } }); }); }); post.php <?php $name = $_POST['name']; $age = $_POST['age']; $return = array('name' => $name, 'age' => $age); echo json_encode($return); ?> After inputting the two fields and pressing 'Submit', the success method is called, text appended, but the values returned from ajax post are undefined. And then after less than a second, the text fields are emptied, and the text appended to the div is gone. Doesn't seem like it's a page refresh, though, since there's no empty page flash. What's going on here? I'm sure it's a silly mistake but Firebug isn't telling me anything.

  • cycle through list, change style every x seconds

    - by kjarsenal
I have a simple slideshow (jQuery Cycle) that displays an image every ten seconds (7 total images). In an adjacent div, I have a list with 7 bullet points. What's the easiest way to script a method in which the css/style of the appropriate bullet point changes as its accompanying image. The idea is to have all list items displayed, but 1 highlighted every 10 seconds?

  • Block an Order Button

    - by Frank G.
I am looking for a script that will block or remove an order button to prevent customers from double or triple ordering but clicking the button more then once. I don't know what something like this would be called. But the site was developed in Classic .asp. However I'm going to guess and say this would be javascript or jquery on an image button? Any suggestion or points for this would be a big help!!!! Thanks,

  • Utilizing back and forward browser buttons for web apps

    - by at
How do I use the back and forward browser buttons to navigate my javascript/jQuery web application? I know I can do window.location.href = 'this_url#placeholder' and then perform the appropriate action. But when I do that, the browser scrolls to the element with that placeholder id (or to the top if there wasn't one). How do I get the browser to not scroll anywhere? I've seen this on other sites like facebook, what's the appropriate mechanism for this?

  • This code works fine in Chrome, Firefox but not in IE.

    - by Jeddizero
Hi, I'm trying to make a jquery tooltip that appears when a user mouses over a link. In my case the link is using display:block style so that it covers a large area. It works perfectly in Chrome and Firefox but in Internet Explorer it doesn't work at all. The tooltip doesn't show, the browsers own tooltip shows etc... IE!!!! http://pastebin.com/1kBaMujV Any ideas? Got to love internet explorer...

  • Figure out div that is visible out of four divs.

    - by RedWolves
I need to figure out what div is visible out of four possible divs using jQuery. Only one of those div's will be visible at any given time. This is what I have that works so far: $("#FeatureImage1:visible, #FeatureImage2:visible, #FeatureImage3:visible, #FeatureImage4:visible").attr("id"); Is there a way to refactor this? Is there an easier way to figure this out?

  • How do I access the array submit() calls in the dom?

    - by Alex
I want to grab all the inputs inside a form, in order to submit them. The point of this is to use jquery's ajax to submit a dynamically sized form. Surely there must be an array inside the dom somewhere which i can just do something like... docment.forms['form'].elements which only lists inputs for that form, meaning I can loop through them and grab their values to play around with?
