• Help with a simple switch statement

  I need to find the value of a variable and use it to add a class to a div, based on a switch statement. For example, my variable is $link and if $link has google.com IN IT at all, I need $class to equal 'google', if $link as yahoo.com IN IT at all, $class then needs to equal 'yahoo' So, I need something like this, but I'm not sure how/or if to use preg_match or something to check and see if the $link variable has the value we are looking for in it - see 'case' text below: switch ($link) { case 'IF link has Google.com in it': $class = 'google'; break; case 'IF link has Yahoo.com in it': $class = 'yahoo'; break; default: # code... break; } OR if there is a better way to do this, please let me know :D Thanks

• setUserCredentials from Google data api is stuck

  Well, since I am facing some issues with OAuth implementation, I decided to go back to normal method where users will input their login id and password and I will use them in my code to validate their google account to fetch calendar information. So when user enters login id and password, the page is getting stuck. When I check the code, setUserCredentials is the method where it is getting stuck. But when I enter my login id and password and debug on development site, it works fine. There is no problem when I debug. And importantly , the problem appears for first time only, once I debug the code and next time I try it without breakpoint, it works fine. Does anyone know why setUserCredentials takes time or any way I can track why it is taking so time? I have asked the same question on Google data api forum, but nobody answered it.

  I have had some problems with authentication in ASP.NET. I'm not used most of the built in authentication in .NET. I gotten some complaints from users using Internet Explorer (any version - may affect other browsers as well) that the login process proceeds but when redirected they aren't authenticated and are bounced back to loginpage (pages that require authentication check if logged in and if not redirect back to loginpage). Can this be a cookie problem? Do I need to check if cookies are enabled by the user? What's the best way to build authentication if you have a custom member table and don't want to use ASP.NET login controls?   In WPF using IDataErrorInfo and Style I want to create form where I can provide end user three different status while validating data To make the scenario more clear 1) I have textbox next to it I have icon which provides end user what kind of input textbox expects - Initial status with information icon 2) As soon as user enter data it validates it and decides whether it is valid or not - most of the time it will show cross (X) icon saying invalid data 3) As it is validating on UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged" it will turn cross icon to green check mark as soon as it gets validated i.e [ ] i (tooltip- Any valid user name ) [Ga ] X (tooltip- Invalid user name. Must be 5 char long) [Gaurav ] * (it will show only correct icon, meaning valid value) How can I achieve this using IDataErrorInfo and Style, I tried doing that but as soon as my form gets loaded it invalidates all the data and shows cross icon at the first time.   I have a huge website (containing around 5000+) pages. There is a theme functionality in the website where user can choose different colors for their profile. Now i want to use the ASP.net theme feature and put different CSS (for different colors) in the theme folder and in Global.asax i want check the user theme and render appropriate link element with the css. But my problem is, i am not able to access the Page element for adding the link in the page. Here is my code Dim page As System.Web.UI.Page = TryCast(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Handler,System.Web.UI.Page) page.StyleSheetTheme = "Black" But when i run this code I get a Null reference error. P.s : My application is very huge so its not possible to have a master page or a base class and inherit it in every page. Please suggest.

  Hello all, I have an ASP.NET document, with an Image element within it. I created a mouseover function on this image element and it's working fine. The question is: If the mouse is ALREADY over the element when the document loads itself, the mouseover function doesn't trigger (I need to mouseout and then mouseover again in order to trigger it). Is there any way to check in the $(document).ready function if the mouse is already on top of this element? and if yes- trigger the mouseover function. Thanks all!

  I am setting a Session variable in an HttpHandler, and then getting its value in the Page_load event of an ASPX page. I'm setting it using public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { HttpPostedFile file = context.Request.Files["Filedata"]; context.Session["WorkingImage"] = file.FileName; } (And before someone suggests that I check the validity of file.FileName, this same problem occurs if I hard-code a test string in there.) It's working just fine in IE, but in Firefox the Session Variable is not found, getting the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error in the following code: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string loc = Session["WorkingImage"].ToString(); } Has anyone encountered this problem - and hopefully come up with a means for passing the session variable?

  I'm using tagsoup to clean some HTML I'm scraping from the internet, and I'm getting the following error when parsing through pages with comments: The data "- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - " is not legal for a JDOM comment: Comment data cannot start with a hyphen.   I have following Gridview: <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" CssClass="table" DataKeyNames="groupId" DataSource="<%# dsUserGroupsSelected %>" DataMember="Group" etc....> and after firing RowDeleting event handler: protected void GridView1_RowDeleting(object sender, GridViewDeleteEventArgs e) e.Keys is empty. Moreover, in runtime if I check dsUserGroupsSelected.Group.PrimaryKey it is poulated with: {System.Data.DataColumn[1]} [0]: {groupId} so it's really odd to me. Am I missing something? I have this kind of a workaround: int groupId = (int)GridView1.DataKeys[e.RowIndex].Value; which will work just fine, but I just can't get it why e.Keys (and e.Values) would be empty!? Any ideas?

• Read and write from a byte stream if the endianess of the data is different from that of the current

  I have a stream of bytes which contains a flag which identifies the endianness of the data in the header. I want to read the doubles from the stream, which will presumably need to be different if the endianness of the data in the header is different? I am currently using a BinaryReader and calling ReadDouble to read the data from the stream, but if the endianness flag indicates that the data stream has a different endianness than the machine architecture then presumably this will not work? How should this be handled? Should I check the endianness of my data against that of the current machine then when I want to read a double instead read the bytes raw into a byte array and do array.Reverse to reverse the data before using BitConverter.ToDouble () with the reversed data and a zero offset? I could just test this but I do not have a source of data for both endianness so am a bit concerned about creating test data to test the parsing and this being different from what 'real' data might look like.

  I want to add methods (more specifically: method aliases) automatically to Python subclasses. If the subclass defines a method named 'get' I want to add a method alias 'GET' to the dictionary of the subclass. To not repeat myself I'd like to define this modifation routine in the base class. But if I check in the base class init method, there is no such method, since it is defined in the subclass. It will become more clear with some source code: class Base: def __init__(self): if hasattr(self, "get"): setattr(self, "GET", self.get) class Sub(Base): def get(): pass print(dir(Sub)) Output: ['__doc__', '__init__', '__module__', 'get'] It should also contain 'GET'. • How to validate parameter values against a data source in Crystal Reports 2008

  I have a report designed in Crystal 2008. The report has a parameter field called "Member ID" that I want to use to get a string input from the user running the report. However, I want to do some sort of validation to ensure that the ID they entered is valid (it exists in a database table that I already have set up). Is there any way to do this? I know you can set up dynamic parameters that would give the user a dropdown list of Member ID values to choose from based on the data stored in my database table. But I don't want to make the user sort through thousands of IDs in a dropdown. I just want them to manually enter an ID and then have the report check the entered value against a database table. Is this possible?

  move_uploaded_file() won't work for me anymore, it was working fine and just stopped out of nowhere. Is there a way for me to check why it's not working anymore? Here's what I currently have, but it only returns TRUE or FALSE. $status = move_uploaded_file($tempFile, $targetFile); if($status) { echo 'its good'; } else { echo 'it failed'; } I know the path is 100% correct and the directory is CHMOD 755. • How to get users to read error messages?

  If you program for a nontechnical audience, you find yourself at a high risk that users will not read your carefully worded and enlightening error messages, but just click on the first button available with a shrug of frustration. So, I'm wondering what good practices you can recommend to help users actually read your error message, instead of simply waiving it aside. Ideas I can think of would fall along the lines of: Formatting of course help; maybe a simple, short message, with a "learn more" button that leads to the longer, more detailed error message Have all error messages link to some section of the user guide (somewhat difficult to achieve) Just don't issue error messages, simply refuse to perform the task (a somewhat "Apple" way of handling user input) Edit: the audience I have in mind is a rather broad user base that doesn't use the software too often and is not captive (i.e., not an in-house software or narrow community). A more generic form of this question was asked on slashdot, so you may want to check there for some of the answers.

• How to organized page specific CSS link tags with spark view pages and application.spark

  I'm currently using ASP.NET MVC 2 and the spark view engine. The main master page (application.spark) contains all of the CSS link tags that need to be present for all pages (global stuff). However, I have some content pages that have page specific CSS tags and currently I'm just sticking the link tag in the body as something like: <content name="MainContent"> <!-- page specific csss --> <link rel="stylesheet" href="/Content/css/page_specific.css" /> My problem is that when the page renders, this tag ends up in the which is not where it needs to be. Is there a solution for this? One idea I had was to check the controller in the Application.spark page and write out which page specific css file is required for that particular controller, however, that solution doesn't seem to scale well and I would imagine there is some way of creating the link in the child page and having it render where it's supposed to by the browser.

  I have made the following webpage for generating interactive todo lists: http://robert-kent.com/todo/todo.php Basically, the user pastes a numbered todo list and each task is placed into it's own div with a unique id. Users can add notes to the tasks (done with javascript) and can click the green check when the task is done to hide it. I'd like to add an Export button which would generate a report of which tasks were completed and which were not, along with the user-entered notes. After a bit of searching I understand that what I want to do is scrape the page, but I haven't the faintest idea of the best way to do it. Many of the articles and tutorials I have found with Google involve scraping other sites and don't really explain how I could iterate over each div on the page.
