  • Performance of CSS Transitions vs. JS animation packages

    I'm wondering - is there any difference in performance of using CSS Transitions vs. any of the various JS animation libraries? (scriptaculous, scripty2, jsAnim, MooTools, $fx, etc, etc). I've tried various tests in Safari / Google Chrome, and I don't actually see any difference -- I thought that CSS Transitions were supposed to be hardware accelerated.

    Hi all, I am using this jQuery plugin to re-size images. http://hirdet2.extra.hu/kepresize/ . $(document).ready(function(){ $('#content img').kepresize({maxWidth: 200,maxHeight: 150}); .... .... $('#content').append('<img src="pathtofile"/>'); }); However, these images are only being appended after the document loads, depending on the users actions. Therefore the appended images are not being re-sized. I have had a play around with .live() but can't seem to get it right. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi, i'm quite new to HTML, and am trying to create a professional looking TreeView. I can not use the in built TreeView in ASP.NET as i need to point the target of the selection to another frame (I have tried, and this doesn't seem possible). My TreeView is built up as follows: Folder1 ChildOne ChildTwo ChildThree Folder2 ChildOne ChildTwo ChildThree I have the collapsing of the folders working, but would like to know how to format this TreeView so it has dotted lines down to the child nodes (as most TreeViews tend to have).   • iPhone - Using javascritp to increase font of web view

    i've a webview in my app. It has + and - buttons to increase and decrease the font. When I start the view, the text occupies whole 320 pixels width. I'm following the way mentioned in "http://stackoverflow.com/questions/589177/how-to-increase-font-size-in-uiwebview" I'm seeing the increase and decrease of font. But once the font size increases, text is not occupying full view. It won't occupy whole 320 pixels width. As and when text size increases, the width of final text in web view decreases slowly. Why? How to avoid it?

How can i do this? Also, you can see how it should look at last.fm, where's list of profile settings (li.profileItem).     I want to use the append() function from inside the <head>, in a function to be specific, like so: function custom_img(src_img) { $("div").append("<img src='"+src_img+"'>"); } var myimg = new custom_img("test.jpg"); This is a quick example that I just wrote out. I want my function to make a new image like that every time I create a new object like this. Obviously this doesn't work, since the append() requires to be in the body (I've tried this). How would I do this?

The error console says Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined Uncaught TypeError: Object #<an Object> has no method 'set' however i don't know what to do with this information.     I'm attempting to write a Ubiquity command that allows you to replace a selected link or URL pointing to an image with that image itself. However, the CmdUtils.setSelection() function (documented here) seems to do nothing if any html tags are present in the selection, making it useless for replacing any links. When selecting plain text, it functions exactly as intended, replacing the text with an <img src="text"/> tag. Is there something I'm missing, or will this function simply not allow me to replace html? If the latter is the case, is there a function or method that will allow me to do this? Any other advice is welcome as well!     Anyone have any luck using Vimeo's moogaloop player? I'm wanting to use Vimeo's supposed API functions to create custom buttons to control the Vimeo player on my site. Here's the reference page for moogaloop: http://vimeo.com/api/docs/moogaloop I've been able to get the player to embed using SWFObject, but I can't seem to get the API functions to work (e.g. api_play()).     Hi all, I have a complex page that has several user controls like galleries, maps, ads etc. I've tried optimising them by ensuring full separation of html/css/js, placing js at the bottom of the page and trying to ensure I have well written code in all 3 but alas I still have a slow page. It's not really noticeable to a modern browser but can see the stats and IE6/7. So I'm now looking to do what we've done previously for Adtech flash crap - an iframe. Apart from the SEO impact which I'm not worried about in the case of these controls, what do people think of this as an approach? PROS and CONS please. Thanks, Denis

Now, I am still able to pan around the webpage though the scroll bars are not visible. How can I fix the view so that I am not able to pan (or scroll) the webpage? By panning, I mean moving around the webpage with an onTouch event.

  • Google Maps: marker icons are multi over same location, why?

    I'm using Google Maps and have the map set to height/width=100%. I noticed that when I resize the browser window, my map marker icons appear to redraw on top of the same location. Meaning, if I should only have 1 map marker icon on "987 Main St", when I resize the browser window - multiple map marker icons are being now draw on top of "987 Main St" that shouldn't be there. Any ideas why this is happening and how to prevent it? UPDATE: Link to actual code

  • Client side templating with unknown variables

    Our company has an intranet consisting of several e-mail templates filled with variables (like [[NAME]], [[PROJECT]] and so on). I was thinking of implementing some sort of client side templating to make it easier to replace these variables with actual values. The problem is that among all the client side template solutions I've located so far, all of them seem to assume that the JS code knows all the template variables that exist in the markup, and none of them seem to be able to fetch a list of variables defined in the markup. Does anyone know of any solutions/plugin which makes this possible? Thanks in advance!
