• Statement hierarchy in programming languages

  I quickly wrote an interpreter for some sort of experimental programing language i came up with, in PHP (yes, in PHP). The language itself doesn't have anything really special, I just wanted to give it a try. I got the basic things working (Hello World, input to output, string manipulation, arithmetics) but I'm getting stuck with the management of blocks and grouped statements. What I mean is: PHP and most other languages let you do this: ((2+2)*(8+2)+2), of course not only with mathematical computations. My program structure currently consists of a multidimensional array built like this: ID => Type (Identifier, String, Int, Newline, EOF, Comma, ...) Contents (If identifier, int or string) How could I allow statements to be executed in a defined order like in the PHP example above?

  Hello, If there an easy way to get a completed SQL statement back after parameter substitution? I.e., I want to keep a logfile of all the SQL this program runs. Or if I want to do this, will I just want to get rid of Parameters, and do the whole query the old school way, in one big string?   Hello, When inserting an object into a database with SQLAlchemy, all it's properties that correspond to String() columns are automatically transformed from <type 'str'> to <type 'unicode'>. Is there a way to prevent this behavior?   Hi SO, I can't seem to create the correct regular expression to extract the correct tokens from my string.   I'm having a hard time binding a simple static string property to a text box.   Hi guy, I need to integrate struts with spring for a project. I read the doc to ingrate struts and it's ok for classic beans but I have a problem for my forms. I don't found anything in the doc to manage forms by spring and the attribute "type" is mandatory for form in struts-config. Someone can help me please ?

• concatenating strings from two different rows in a table

  Hello, We are attempting to rework the SQL in a product. The product stores XML in a table as follows: XML_STORAGE - UID IDENTITY - PARENT_ID INTEGER - SEQ INTEGER - XML VARCHAR(3800) The current way of doing this is as follows: Retrieve all ROWS for PARENT_ID = n. Then go over the fetched rows in the code and concatenate the XML strings into one large XML before parsing. The SEQ column is used to ORDER the result so the XML strings can be concatenated properly. Hopefully that is clear. What we are attempting to do is rework this so we can use a SQL variant to retrieve the whole string and just fetch one row back from DB2. Is there a DB2 function that will allow us to concatenate the string in all of these rows into one large string in the resultset. How would such a SQL look. Please let me know. What is the best strategy to store a todo item? (currently on an XML file) such that all the items are loaded quickly up on app start up(the application shows kind of a dashboard of all the items at start up) What is the best way to design its back-end so that it can be ported to android/or a J2ME based phone Currently this is done using java swing. Value cannot be null. Parameter name: languageTag What's the problem? Isn't this how to POST JSON to an MVC Controller? I can examine the POST using Fiddler and see that the request is correct. For some reason, UpdateLanguagePreference() is getting a null or empty string.

  Hi, The following example of using the sendMail method provided by the grails mail plugin appears in this book. sendMail { to "[email protected]" subject "Registration Complete" body view:"/foo/bar", model:[user:new User()] } I understand that the code within {} is a closure that is passed to sendMail as a parameter. I also understand that to, subject and body are method calls. I'm trying to figure out what the code that implements the sendMail method would look like, and my best guess is something like this: MailService { String subject String recipient String view def model sendMail(closure) { closure.call() // Code to send the mail now that all the // various properties have been set } to(recipient) { this.recipient = recipient } subject(subject) { this.subject = subject; } body(view, model) { this.view = view this.model = model } } Is this reasonable, or am I missing something? • Java variables -> replace? RAM optimization

  Hi guys, I just wanted to know what happens behind my program when I declare and initialize a variable and later initialize it again with other values, e.g. an ArrayList or something similar. What happens in my RAM, when I say e.g. this: ArrayList<String> al = new ArrayList<String>(); ...add values, work with it and so on.... al = new ArrayList<String>(); So is my first ArrayList held in RAM or will the second ArrayList be stored on the same position where the first one has been before? Or will it just change the reference of "al"? If it is not replaced...is there a way to manually free the RAM which was occupied by the first arraylist? (without waiting for the garbage collector) Would it help to set it first =null? Nice greetings, poeschlorn

• C# extension method doesn't seem to exist

  I can't seem to get the following extension method to be found in another class in the same namespace (MyProject.Util). using System.Collections.Specialized; namespace MyProject.Util { public static class Extensions { public static string Get( this NameValueCollection me, string key, string def ) { return me[key] ?? def; } } } As you can see it's basically another version of foo[bar] ?? baz, but I still don't understand why VS2008 fails to compile telling me that no version of Get takes two arguments.   Scenario: I am parsing values from an XML file using C# and have the following method: private static string GetXMLNodeValue(XmlNode basenode, string strNodePath) { if (basenode.SelectSingleNode(strNodePath) != null) return (basenode.SelectSingleNode(strNodePath).InnerText); else return String.Empty; } To get a particular value from the XML file, I generally pass the root node and a path like "parentnode/item" I recently ran into an issue where two nodes at the same document level share the same name. Question: What is the best way to get the values for duplicate-named nodes distinctly? My thought was to load all values matching the node name into an array and then using the array index to refer to them. I'm not sure how to implement that, though. (I'm not well-versed in XML navigation.)

  Hi. I am trying to use JSON.stringify() (from json2.js of json[dot]org ) to convert a JavaScript array to JSON string and to pass it to an asmx web method. I use jQuery AJAX. The call reaches the web method where I take a List <Object> as parameter but I get an empty list there in debug mode. My JSON string looks like well formed with all data , I even tried having single-quotes and double-quotes(escaped) around the 'names' of the JSON string. Please help.
